****4 Heartbreaking Stars****

(ARC kindly provided by author)

Heartbreakingly beautiful story about a couple who found love in a dark place… Not an easy read but so worth it!!!

16687653

Jaynie Cumberland has gone through a very tough childhood. Her mom abandoned her and Jaynie was forced into the foster care system at a young age. She carries a lot of insecurities, after being left behind by every person she’s ever loved.

After being hurt yet again, Jaynie feels completely broken and now her only hope is counting down the days until she turns eighteen so she can finally escape the system that’s failed her so many times, and start a new life. With only a few months before she becomes of age, Jaynie is placed in a new home that is supposed to be a wonderful place for orphans.

The other kids in this new home are wonderful to Jaynie, especially the beautiful guy that keeps lighting up her days with his gorgeous smile. Unfortunately nothing is what it seems and after the social worker leaves her under the care of her new foster mom, she learns her new reality. This new place turns out to be hell for Jaynie and the other kids, they all have to work very hard to earn meals or any other basic privileges. Being exploited on day to day basis, brings these kids closer and they grow protective of each other, forming a family of their own, because even though they all have been through so much pain, they all have so much love to give.

Flynn O’Neill hasn’t been lucky in life either. After his mother died his father turned into a monster and shattered everything in Flynn’s life. His pain and grief took him to the streets for a life of misery and after getting caught committing a crime, he’s placed in foster care. Flynn is very protective of the other kids in the house. Acting as a big brother to them but from the moment he meets Jaynie he knows she’s going to be very special to him.

Flynn wants to help Jaynie heal and he makes it his mission to put a smile on her face everyday, even though they live in a horrible place. A beautiful friendship will blossom into a fierce love between Flynn and Jaynie and together they start making plans for a future. But unfortunately, hate and jealousy from those with more power than them will threaten to destroy everything they have been fighting for.

16687654

From the moment I read the blurb of this book, I knew I wanted to read it. I loved the resilience and beauty of the characters. Jaynie and Flynn fought fiercely for their love and they found a safe haven where only they existed, pushing away all the darkness that threatened to destroy yet again, their most precious things in life, love and family.

All the secondary characters were amazing, bringing a lot of sweetness to the plot and creating the perfect balance between all the sad and happy moments in all of these kids lives. Yes, this is very tough book to read due to all the sensitive subject matter but you’ll be mesmerized by the powerful love between all the characters.

I felt satisfied and very hopeful for Jaynie and Flynn at the end of the book and I can’t wait to read the next chapter in their story…

*****FIVE STARS*****

(ARC kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review)

This was my first Aly Martinez book ever and it was definitely love at first read!!!

The subject matter of this book is very serious yet the author managed to write it in a way that wasn’t heavy or overly sad; on the contrary, she made it sweet and very inspiring. I totally fell in love with the characters and this incredible story.

16682143

Smart.
Beautiful.
Kind.
Brave.

Levee Williams is an international Pop Star. She is wildly successful as a music artist and has more money and fame than she knows what to do with but she’s not happy, in fact, she feels lost and completely miserable with her life.

Tired of being handled and pulled in twenty different directions, but not knowing how to fix her own life; Levee finds herself on a rainy night at the edge of a very dangerous and tall bridge. For the pass three nights she’s been visiting one of San Francisco’s tallest bridges, looking for a way out, an answer to fix the despair in her life.

Sam Rivers also has a habit of visiting the same bridge but for completely different reasons, yet he is just as lost as Levee. When Sam first saw her, he was able to see right through her. Even though he couldn’t recognize the artist due to her funny disguise, he could see the pain that was surrounding Levee.

Sam and Levee’s chemistry was explosive and these two quickly found themselves swimming in a deep sea of passion, after one desperate kiss that said more than a thousand words. Ever since that sexy night they spent together, they both knew something special and electric had been born between them.

The pain and darkness they both carried is what pulled them together but also what might break them apart.

16682144

Sam is obsessed with being a savior to everyone around him who needs help and Levee is addicted to the fast life. She’s always working, trying to please and help everyone in her life, and has completely forgotten about herself. These two characters complete each other so beautifully and together they will find more than love; support and inspiration.

I loved this book because like I said before, even though it talks about very sensitive topics, the plot is not done in a sad or dark way. The most beautiful thing about Sam and Levee’s relationship was their humor. They are constantly making each other laugh and as you read, you can’t help but laugh and fall in love with them.

Sam was one delicious hero. He’s very sexy and full of tattoos but also had the biggest heart ever. He’s so sweet and always knows the right thing to say, I can’t tell you how many of his sentences I highlighted while reading this book. I loved him so much and I wish he was real!!!

I will yell from the rooftops READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!. I was so impressed with this author’s writing style, I was completely lost inside this beautiful story and I will not waste any more time and will make sure I read every single one of her books.

I tell myself I can handle it this time. This time, I am in the driver’s seat. This time, I am rewriting the ground rules.

****4.5 Irresistible Stars****

(ARC Kindly Provided by Author)

The most accurate way I can describe this book is by saying it’s deliciously addicting. When you read this novel you will battle with both your morals and emotions. You might not agree or be able to relate with the characters and their behaviors, but I promise you, the emotional tug and intensity of the story will completely pull you under, making it impossible to stop reading. I enjoyed it tremendously.

16623412

Mirella is picking up the pieces after the heartbreak Weston caused her. He was like a hurricane that came and left just as quickly causing major devastation in her life, but with the help of her husband and best friend she’s pulling through. Just when everything is starting to settle, the gorgeous and enigmatic Weston starts reaching out to her again.

Mirella is very skeptical about letting Weston into her life again. But when her husband Gabe shares his thoughts about wanting to try it again, the foursome decides to resume their sexual arrangement .

This time Mirella is determined to keep her heart and emotions out of the equation. She just wants to enjoy the sex and nothing else. On this second attempt they change some of the rules to try to give Mirella and Gabe more control since it was Weston and Bridget who had the upper hand the last time. The relationship is supposed to be more casual and relaxed this second time around. They can talk to each other directly without the assistance of Weston’s secretary. They can travel together and even try to hang out as friends, but its easier said than done and the emotions and the jealousy will get very intense, making the relationships dangerous and the rules harder to follow.

16623413

I really loved Gabe in this second installment. He is definitely more my style with his Alpha Male personality, but I also get the appeal of Weston, and understood Mirella’s struggle. We see a different side of every character. The ones that seemed so strong at the beginning are starting to crumble, making the dynamics change and infusing a lot of intensity to the plot. So don’t worry because this book is NOT more of the same, but completely different and totally thrilling.

In The Ground Rules: Rewritten, Roya Carmen brings it up a notch; everything feels more passionate and deliciously elicit this second time around, making it hard for the reader to pick a side. I was team Gabe more often than not, but Weston’s more vulnerable side was very present and he definitely made me swoon for him on more than one occasion. The only complaint I have is that I would like to learn more about Bridget. She’s the only character who still remains a mystery in my eyes. I crave to know what drives her, what she wants and how she loves.

At this point I really don’t know how this story will end. After that cliffhanger that definitely complicated things, I’m very eager and curious to know who will end up with who, and whose marriage will ultimately survive. I give props to Roya Carmen once again for creating such a deliciously sinful story and I highly recommend it to anybody who’s not afraid to delve into a world where love is not enough and lust makes you break the rules.

****4.5 ~The Princess and The DJ ~ Stars*****

(Arc kindly provided by author)

I was totally captivated by this book. College setting, sweet romance and a ton of fantastic music, combined with Sarina Bowen’s magic writing style; made this the perfect story. I LOVED it!!!!!

16410461

Lianne Challice has been an actress from a young age. She’s the main character in a very successful movie franchise, where she plays a princess sorceress. She’s always wanted to experience life like any normal girl her age so she decides to enroll in college and pursue an arts and drama degree.

As a freshman, the life as a college student will not be as easy as she thought. Most people in school usually just make fun of her and others just give her the stink eye and think she’s expecting preferential treatment. Lianne just wants to blend in and be just another student.

Lianne’s roommate is a hockey super fan and took her to a game once where she met Daniel, who’s the official DJ for the University’s hockey team. Lianne and DJ have a ton of things in common and they are both very attracted to each other. One night they share a very romantic and intense kiss but after that DJ starts acting hot and cold around her, only making Lianne feel confused and even hurting her feelings.

DJ is going through some issues and even though he really likes Lianne and wants to be more than her friend, the timing is not right, so he finds himself battling between what he wants to do and what he should do.

Music and a beautiful friendship will make it impossible for these two to be apart. Lianne wants nothing more than to help DJ and show him that it’s okay to trust again, but like some people say, timing is everything. Will DJ and Lianne get over their fears and allow the rhythm of love to take over?

16410462._SY540_

Even though The Fifteenth Minute is book five in The Ivy Years series, I think it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone. Sarina Bowen definitely has a knack when it comes to writing amazing college romances. This one had a little bit of everything us romance readers love. Two thumbs up, I definitely recommend it!!!

I’ve been saving a nice bottle of Brunello wine that I bought from my trip to Napa earlier this year, and when I received the ARC for Betrayal, I knew it was the perfect occasion to uncork and enjoy this very special spirit. Just like this delicious wine, an Aleatha Romig book is meant to be savored. Her style of writing is usually intricate and passionate, and in this new book she takes us on a thrilling ride that will surely leave us delirious and wanting more…

16510598

Alexandria Collins comes from a very affluent family. Her life has always been filled with privilege but freedom is not a luxury that she’s ever experienced. She always has to be proper and look the part in front of the members of the high society of Savannah.

She was able to escape her reality if only for a few years while she attended college. After getting a taste of a world without restraints, Alex has plans to move to New York and attend Columbia Law School. She’s going to cash her trust fund to pay for her law degree, her apartment and finally live life on her own terms. Or so she thought…

Her mother has summoned Alex into her childhood home, a place she never wanted to go back to, but she went thinking it was to finalize the arrangements to transfer the possession of her trust fund to her, earlier than she’d been expecting . Nothing has changed in the mansion where she grew up and felt trapped for most of her life. Her mother is still oblivious to everything around her, and her step-father is as cruel and controlling as ever.

Betrayal is told from Alex’s point of view, the chapters go from past to present and of course the scenes from her past were my favorite because those are about the time Alex met the sexy Alpha Male, Nox.

Right after graduation as a present to herself Alex decides to take a trip to a beach resort with her best friend. To make the vacation even more memorable she decides to act completely opposite from her usual behavior. She wants, for at least once in her life to be daring and adventurous and not the proper and always careful person she was raised to be.

On her first day, while laying by the pool she encounters an enigmatic man, Nox. He is a man that goes after what he wants so he wastes no time trying to claim her. The sexual chemistry is palpable between them and they are not willing to pass up on enjoying each other but not before establishing some rules. No last names, no past, no future. Only one week to enjoy each other and nothing more. Sounds easy enough. What can be better than to give into the pleasure a sexy stranger is offering?

The problem is nothing about their intimacy is easy, every kiss and every touch will be ingrained deep within them but goodbye is their only choice, after all…

16510599._SY540_

After spending such a delectable week with Nox, Alex has to face the lies and the deception of her family. What they don’t know is that she’s not the same little girl they used to bully into making her do whatever they wanted and this time she’s not willing to give up her dreams and her life for anyone. She’s willing to try anything to continue on the path to her freedom.

Once again this author amazes me with her ability to play with my emotions, just when you think you know the direction where the plot is going, something brilliantly thought out changes the course of the story. Last time I read a series by her I swear I needed therapy to be able to get a handle of my feelings. But in all honesty I loved every minute and every word, and this time was no different, if anything it was better.

This book felt so luxurious and decadent and I never wanted it to end. Luckily, this is going to be a five book series that promises nothing short of a riveting ride. Betrayal is definitely a must read!!!

Corin Thompson is obsessed with death and illness. After losing both her parents due to terrible illnesses and almost one right after the other, she believes, she too will die soon. Every silly cough, every pain, every sneeze has her convinced she’s very sick and constantly visiting the doctor’s office. No matter how many tests come back normal, she thinks the doctors are wrong, increasing her anxiety and her fears.

Her latest symptoms have Corin convinced that she has a heart condition, so she starts attending a support group for people with heart problems. There she meets Beckett Kingsley, a young guy who after suffering a heart attack has found himself adjusting to a new life but he’s surprisingly very optimistic about it.

Beckett used to be a carefree, sports addict, adrenaline junkie kind of guy. After having the stroke, he was completely lost. He can’t do any of the things he used to love. His condition has forced him to change everything about his former self. At first he was furious, depressed, mad at his heart, pretty much mad at the whole world for what happened to him. His friends and family love him but they look at him as if he’s going to break at any moment. After feeling depressed for a long time, Beckett has decided to give this new life a try and find a whole new set of possibilities, and in his new future he wants Corin to be a part of it.

Beckett is completely taken by Corin. For the first time in a long time he feels like someone sees him for who he really is and also understands and shares his pain and fears. The problem is, while Beckett is desperate to live, Corin is pretty much waiting to die. These two broken hearts will find a way to mend each other in a beautiful yet very delicate journey that will make you laugh, cry and love, hard…

AfterTheStorm.Ebook_-400x600

Synopsis:

Noah and Willow know not to mix business with pleasure. They’ve both been burned in the past, he thinks she’s too young, and she definitely shouldn’t hook up with her boss. So, they don’t. Instead, they build a friendship, while fighting an obvious attraction.

But when Noah’s called back East after a natural disaster that threatens his home and the loved ones he left behind, he’s forced to face his past with Willow by his side.

Will their turbulent pasts hold them back from giving into fate? Or will the two of them realize that they’ve been each other’s calm before the storm?

“Anyone can love you when the sun is shining, but in the storm is where you learn who truly cares for you.”

After The Storm is a standalone novel, but the main Hero was a very important character in “Man of My Dreams”. This is Noah Matheson’s story. He was Mia’s High School crush, whom she started dating once she and her husband, Declan, had a falling out. I really didn’t love Noah in “Man Of My Dreams” because he almost succeeded in ending Mia and Declan’s marriage.

In this book, I forgave Noah. We get to see that he was truly in love with Mia. When she chose to go back to her husband, it ended up destroying Noah. He had dreams of moving her and her two little daughters out to San Diego with him. After their breakup, Noah gets an opportunity to do some work in California and he jumps at the chance. He needs to get as far away from New Jersey and Mia as he can.

It’s five years later and Noah is still very much heart broken over losing Mia. He owns a successful construction company and throws himself into his work. Noah dabbles in a little casual sex here and there to keep him somewhat satisfied. He has no intention of ever putting himself out there because he is sure he’d never be able to survive getting his heart broken again.

Willow Jones is a very beautiful young woman that works as Noah’s Office Manager. She’s had a crush on him since she started working at his company and Noah has definitely noticed her, but she’s much younger and an employee, so he takes a hands off approach. Well, he’s also sworn off relationships, and he knows Willow is not the one night stand type of gal. But Willow has gone through so much that most twenty five year old women have probably never experienced. She’s suffered from terrible heart break. It haunts her and she’s afraid she will never find love again.

So both Noah and Willow have baggage from their last relationships. Each tries to keep things platonic but eventually that will prove to be an impossible feat for the both of them. When they finally give in to their desires for one another, holy hell, let’s just say you’ll either need a cold shower to douse the flames or maybe have some sexy times of your own with your significant other!!

Tragedy befalls Noah’s hometown in New Jersey during Hurricane Sandy. Willow goes back home with him so that he can check on his parents and offer whatever help they can to the community. It is during this trip that ghosts from the past will visit the both of them and possibly jeopardize the love they’ve come to find in each other.

The ending was lovely and not at all what I was expecting. I’m happy to say that I no longer despise Noah, and I see now that he was a good guy who just had the misfortune of falling hopelessly in love with a woman who could never belong to him. I actually think he deserved a much better woman and maybe he got the HEA that he was always meant to have after all.

Roxie’s life dream has always been to be a successful dancer, she’s trained very hard over the years to achieve her goal but being a single mother has put the brakes on her dreams. Her life is pretty ordinary; working at a bank, being the mom of a smart and unique kid and raising him with the help of her sister is what keeps her occupied, leaving little room for anything else. But recently her sister has convinced her to allow herself to dream again and to chase after her goals.

Even though Roxie has put her whole heart into the audition to be part of super star Beckham Wood’s concert tour, the last thing she expected was to get picked as the main dancer, because she’s not used to amazing things ever happening to her.

From the moment Beckham saw Roxie dance, he knew he wanted to dance with her and make her part of his show.

Beckham has recently cleaned up his act after spending the last few years of his life in a haze of drugs, alcohol and meaningless sex. He wants to hold the reigns over his life again. Now that he’s clean, his life perspectives have changed and he’s decided to retire and make this tour his last.

Once rehearsals start and Beckham gets the chance to dance with Roxie, he’s completely fallen for her magnetism and wants more than to just dance with her. But Roxie pretty much hated him on the spot, so he has his work cut out for him when it comes to her.

Roxie has a secret she’s been keeping from Beckham and even though she feels a strong connection with him, this secret from her past is keeping her from getting closer to him.

Beckham is determined to do whatever it takes to make Roxie his. Everything about her makes him more hopeful about the future, and hope is something he’s never felt before.

Ian Sterling and his wife Sparrow have joined the tour and together with Beckham, Roxie, and the rest of the wonderful and unique crew will form a little family on the road. Everything is going according to plans until someone very dangerous has caught wind of Beckham’s interest in Roxie, causing big chaos for everyone.

Turns out it will prove harder for Roxie and Beckham to explore the feelings that have formed between them because it’s not only themselves they’ll have to fight for a chance at love.

This is a very passionate and exhilarating story that will keep you entertained from beginning to end. You will fall in love with Beckham and Roxie’s romance but the thrilling events happening at every turn will keep you guessing until the very end. Another surprise about this story is the appearance of Ian and Sparrow, the main characters from Willow Aster’s bookTrue Love Story. Making Fade To Red a real treat for all of us fans of that previous book and making this new story even more special.

I love Willow Aster’s books and this new novel has everything I enjoy in a good read; romance, steam and even mystery. She created a very well rounded story that was completely satisfying and absolutely memorable. I loved it!!!
