REVIEW – THE MATCHMAKER’S REPLACEMENT (Wingmen Inc., #2) by Rachel Van Dyken

VanDyken-TheMatchmakersReplacement-CV-FL-vC6-RGB

SYNOPSIS:

Lex hates Gabi. Gabi hates Lex. But, hey, at least the hate is mutual, right? All Lex has to do is survive the next few weeks training Gabi in all the ways of Wingmen Inc. and then he can be done with her. But now that they have to work together, the sexual tension and fighting is off the charts. He isn’t sure if he wants to strangle her or throw her against the nearest sturdy table and have his way with her.

But Gabi has a secret, something she’s keeping from not just her best friend but her nemesis too. Lines are blurred as Lex becomes less the villain she’s always painted him to be…and starts turning into something more. Gabi has always hated the way she’s been just a little bit attracted to him—no computer-science major should have that nice of a body or look that good in glasses—but “Lex Luthor” is an evil womanizer. He’s dangerous. Gabi should stay far, far away.

Then again, she’s always wanted a little danger.

Our eyes locked on each other, and a lifetime of conversations took place in the look she gave me. It wasn’t confusion, just pure want, desire.

I am in love with this series! I haven’t read a ton of Rachel Van Dyken’s books but I can tell you without a doubt that this is definitely my favorite of hers. The second installment to the WINGMEN INC. series has surpassed the first book on a scale of UTTER AWESOMENESS!!! This one has the friends-to-lovers and love/hate tropes!! The perfect combination for a book that was simply unputdownable for me.

We met Lex and Gabi in The Matchmaker’s Playbook and it was easy to see that behind all of the bickering and heated arguments, there was definitely some unrequited feelings between the two of them as well. Lex and Gabi have known each other since childhood, and more often than not, Lex was always there to defend or console Gabi in her time of need. Even though Ian and Gabi’s friendship may have seemed to be closer since they considered each other as siblings, the friendship between Lex and Gabi ran deep as well. But everything changed when Gabi turned eighteen and the two almost shared an intimate moment at a house party on campus. When Ian witnessed what happened between them, he gave Lex an ultimatum to stay away from Gabi, since he didn’t believe Ian would want anything more than a casual fling with her. This is when Lex started to push Gabi away and played the part of the biggest manwhore on campus, which is also when their relationship seemed to become volatile. Whenever they were in the same room an all-out battle was destined to erupt.

When Gabi becomes the newest employee of Wingmen Inc., Lex is left with the task of training her. And whenever these two are alone together, it’s hard to deny the strong chemistry between them. Lex tries to play the aloof bad boy but thoughts of another man putting his hands on Gabi nearly drive him to insanity.

There is a genuinely sweet side to Lex and it comes out whenever he is truly worried for Gabi’s safety and well-being. When he starts to notice that she’s losing a lot of weight and barely eating, he ends up leaving daily food baskets on her doorstep anonymously. When Gabi gets a second job waitressing at a strip club, he shows up at the club on several occasions to watch over her. I couldn’t get enough of sexy Lex!! You will find it hard not to fall for this guy for all the swoon-inducing things he does for lucky Gabi.

For most of the story, they try to fight the feelings that they have always had for each other. Gabi has seen Lex with hundreds of women and she has never gotten over the hurt she felt when he pushed her away at that party several years ago. And Lex, well he doesn’t think he is worthy of Gabi, which stems from his upbringing, and also he would never do anything to jeopardize his friendship with Ian. Ian was the only person who stuck by him in life and his friendship means everything to him. But when Lex and Gabi finally realize that what they have could be something truly special, will they be able to overcome their fears and give love a try?

If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend that you do. I swear that once you start you truly will find it hard to put down until you get to the last page. I definitely think that every gal needs a super villain like Lex in her life.

She is an angel. Stumbled right into my life and shone light when I was in my darkest place. And ever since, she’s been lighting the way—guiding me toward happiness.

4d62a7df00cf53d8731ce696fc7af903

What an amazing story!! I am going to be honest, I didn’t read the blurb. I just knew that if K. Webster wrote it, then I wanted to read it! I was expecting a dark story and although there definitely were some very sad undertones and our hero has some anger management issues, I found this to be a beautiful and oftentimes funny love story. I can’t even explain properly how much I really fell in love with this one, but if you were to take a look at my ebook copy, you could see that the words definitely moved me. I have countless passages highlighted and it was truly hard to pick just one quote to include in my review, but I knew that others might be considered spoilers and so that did help in the process.

Teaser Two

I had a little girl crush on our Heroine, Neesy Noble. She’s a beautiful and exuberant young woman who hopes to start her own publishing house, and in order to get a business loan, she needs to show proof of employment for a minimum of at least ten months. Since she recently lost her job and just started a new one at Hocksted Holdings, her loan application was denied. The position she took at Hocksted Holdings is beneath her skillset but she is determined to stay on in order to get that loan. It does help that the co-owner of the company is ridiculously handsome and has been the star of many of her latest naughty fantasies. When Adrian Hocksted witnesses Neesy calming down a woman’s highly agitated three-year-old son in a restaurant during their lunch hour, he becomes intrigued with the young woman and propositions her with a new job responsibility. She is to come to his house the next morning where he will explain what the new job entails. Neesy, being the silly girl with all these crazy romantic fantasies, thinks that she is signing up to be his sex slave and can’t wait for the kinky times to begin since she’s been going through a dry spell. She is in for a rude awakening when she finds out what Adrian wants her services for.

Teaser Four

Adrian is a powerful but insanely beautiful man. He’s the epitome of the powerful billionaire alpha male that I definitely love to read about. But he is seriously dark and brooding and it stems from the enormous amount of guilt he carries in his heart over a tragic accident that occurred twelve years ago. He hires Neesy in hopes that she may be the miracle that his situation needs. He never intended to fall for this beautiful and vibrant girl. When he lets his guard down and gives in to the passion burning between them, well damn, I was definitely feeling my temperature rise to the hot as hell level!! But almost EVERY time, Adrian is consumed with an overwhelming feeling of guilt and anger for having enjoyed himself with Neesy. My heart broke repeatedly for the both of them.

Neesy was just an incredibly lovable Heroine. I found myself cracking up numerous times over her humorous banter and constant mishaps!! The girl should be wearing a helmet and a padded suit because wherever she went Nessy was sure to trip over her feet and end up with a concussion!! I loved her deep sense of compassion and her patience. She knew that Adrian was going through his own personal hell and she never gave him any ultimatums or talked down to him about the life-altering decisions that he had made.

I honestly think it’s best if you are intending to read this book that you only read the non-spoilerish reviews. I left out a big chunk of the drama in this book because I believe you need to go into this one blind like I did. But, damn, I am in awe of K. Webster now! I truly wasn’t expecting this to be an adult contemporary romance with a healthy dose of hilarious humor but now I know the woman can definitely write more than just the dark and erotica based stories.

UNTIMELY YOU is available now. I highly recommend that you one-click and I really hope that you’ll enjoy this one as much as I did.

REVIEW – HITCHED:VOLUME THREE (Imperfect Love, #3) by Kendall Ryan

SYNOPSIS:
On the heels of her smash hit and New York Times bestselling SCREWED series, Kendall Ryan brings you HITCHED, a romantic comedy that delivers heart and heat. In the conclusion of HITCHED we are left wondering if Olivia will ever be able to forgive Noah for his momentary lapse in judgement, and can she give their marriage another chance? Olivia ran off when she caught Noah trying to do something really underhanded just when she was starting to believe that they had a chance at true love. When he tells her about the “heir” clause that’s in the contract they both signed to gain ownership of their fathers’ company, it is just too much for her to take in and she escapes in order to gather her thoughts and to think of her next move.

Noah, in the meantime, is feeling devastated and remorseful. He wasn’t going to go through with what Olivia saw and wants desperately to fix their relationship. Noah realizes that the marriage means more to him than keeping their fathers’ company and so he decides he’s taking matters into his own hands and getting Olivia back. He does end up finding her and then they go to her father and their family lawyer to find out what possessed them to put the heir clause in the contract. Now this is the part, I wish had been cut out of the story. Olivia’s father explains how the two of them always seemed to gravitate towards each other ever since they were infants and mentions specific moments in their lives that neither seems to remember until this conversation. How is it that they have been so close for countless years and yet when it comes to remembering pivotal moments from their youth, they both seem to be suffering from dementia???

Overall, I did love Noah and thought he was a sexy as hell book boyfriend, but I didn’t ever really warm up to Olivia. I understood why she was so upset with Noah’s actions but I also didn’t understand why he was so crazy in love with her. He definitely deserved a better partner.

If you’re looking for a short and sexy series with a swoon-worthy hero, the HITCHED series is sure to satisfy your appetite.

REVIEW – OUT OF BOUNDS (The Summer Games, #2) by R.S. Grey

Cover

BLURB:

From the USA TODAY Bestselling author of Scoring Wilder, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel.

I despise Erik Winter.

He’s arrogant and cruel—a man I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy—and by some twisted turn of fate, he’s my new Olympic gymnastics coach.

I’ve had to contend with gruff coaches in the past, but Erik is far worse. His stern demeanor complements a body built for intimidation, and his reprimands come from a mouth so cunning, I know it could strip me of my defenses—if I let it.

Though each of us would love to be rid of the other forever, we are bound to each other by need and necessity. I’m his rising star, his best shot at proving himself to his critics. And without a coach, I have zero chance of winning gold in Rio.

The easiest way forward would be to wave a white flag and make peace with the man I’ll be sharing close quarters with for the foreseeable future, but he is intent on war.

Fine. By. Me.

If he pushes me, I’ll push back harder. If he wants to test me, to play with my head, I’ll show him just how many boundaries I’m willing to cross. Because I know it’s not a choice between winning or warring—not if you can have them both. At the end of it all, I plan on leaving Rio with gold around my neck and his icy heart in the palm of my hand.

Brie Watson is s 20 yr. old Olympic gymnast for the U.S. women’s gymnastics team. She lives in Texas & has been doing gymnastics full time since she was 14. She wants to win the gold to provide a better life for herself & her mother. This is her first time at the Olympics & she’s eager to prove herself.

Brie is planning to train in Austin for the next month before heading to Rio de Janeiro for the games. Suddenly Team USA’s coach for the last 30 yrs. has to take medical leave, & his ex-gymnast son is going to fill in as head coach. This means Brie has to head to Seattle & train at his gym Seattle Flyers.

Brie arrives at Coach Erik Winters home, where she will be staying for the next few weeks. They get off to a rocky start from the beginning. First off she was expecting the usual coach in his 50’s, not a 29 yr. old gorgeous, arrogant jerk. Erik and Brie clash from day one. She’s usually mild-mannered, but he brings out the feisty headstrong side of her. She stood up to him when nobody else would. They were constantly sparring, & the sexual tension continued to build. The fighting began to be a turn on to both of them.

One issue is they were too similar. Brie was seriously lusting over her hot coach but tried to act like he didn’t phase her when truly she was so affected anytime he even entered a room. She craved his attention and his touch. They both tried to focus on training, but eventually, their desire for one another becomes out of control. Soon they are completely consumed by each other.

-“You have a way of crawling under my skin like no other man ever has before.”

-She was fierce; she wanted to be seen, and not just for her gymnastic skills. No, she wanted to be desired. Coveted. Craved. Had anyone ever touched her the way she wanted to be touched?

-Deep down, I knew we were a perfect fit.

As Brie begins seeing glimpses of a softer side to Erik, she starts falling harder for him. They both realize they’ve met their match in one another, & that they have something real together. They have to decide if it’s enough to try for something more, or if they will walk away from each other when the games are over and they leave Rio.

I loved this book so much! I liked the whole forbidden romance aspect, & thought Erik was hot as hell! I love this series & can’t wait for another Summer Games romance! :))

REVIEW – VEILED by Karina Halle

Veiled AMAZON (1)

SYNOPSIS:

Death.
It’s something that Ada Palomino has always known so well, having grown up in a house of horrors, surrounded by a family plagued by ghosts and demons and things that go bump in the night.
But after the sudden and tragic death of her mother two years ago, death has never felt so personal.
Or so close.
Now eighteen, Ada is trying to move on with her life and the last month of summer holds nothing but sunshine and promises with her first year at a Portland design school just around the bend.
That is until her increasingly violent and realistic dreams, dreams of other worlds, of portals and veils where her mother is tortured and souls bleed for mercy, start to blend into reality. Ada has to lean on her older sister, Perry, to try and make sense of it all but even then, she’s never felt more alone.
Then there’s Jay. Tall, handsome and deeply mysterious, Jay would be just another stranger, a familiar face on the bus, if it wasn’t for the fact that Ada has met him before.
Every night.
In every single dream.
And the more that Ada is drawn to him in both worlds, the more she’s in danger of losing everything.
Including her heart.
And her very soul.

Ada Palomino is an 18 yr. old from Portland, Oregon. After losing her mother a few years ago, & her sister Perry marrying & moving to Seattle, it’s now just Ada and her dad. Ada is a fashion blogger who loves clothes & makeup. She is starting college in about a month, & is excited to study fashion design. She wants to live a normal life, but unfortunately she comes from a family that is anything but average. In her world monsters are real. They exist, & aren’t just in your head. Ada is discovering more every day that she’s powerful and special like her sister, & she has abilities she hasn’t fully grasped yet.

19869988._SX540_

Ada has started having dreams that often haunt her. They cause her real terror. She has hallucinations in her sleep and has trouble figuring out what’s in her head and what’s real. She feels paralyzed by these dreams & begins to dread & fear falling asleep. That is until a gorgeous man begins invading her dreams. In her nightmares, this man protects her & makes her feel safe and cared for.

Ada eventually crosses paths with her dream man while awake. It turns out she has met him once before, & his name is Jay. Jay ends up being someone important to Ada, & their lives become entwined. As they start spending time together they become extremely attached to one another. Deep feelings develop & they share a unique beautiful connection. Soon, Ada can’t imagine Jay not being a part of her life, but things get very complicated as Ava’s dream world & real world begin to collide.

-He’s so fucking beautiful.

-I want to touch him. I ache for it. I want to feel his body against mine.

-My entire body, from the top of my scalp, down to my toes, is buzzing with heat and electricity. It’s like everything I felt for him before, everything I try to ignore, is coming out in full force, responding to his words, to his body so close to mine.

I loved this paranormal, supernatural book full of ghosts, demons & other dimensions. It deals with the afterlife & the underworld & the many layers of the mind. It has mystery & excitement. Ada is discovering how strong she really is, and at the same time fighting for her life & falling for a delicious guy she wants desperately.

I really loved this book. It was my first paranormal read by Karina. I haven’t read the EIT series yet, but this book reads great as a stand-alone. If you have read the EIT series already, you will love that you get plenty of Perry & Dex in this book too. I really hope Karina writes more books for Ada & Jay! I need more!!! :))

-Real feelings, slowly creeping into my heart, day by day. The thought is terrifying in the same way that demons are terrifying. They both might take possession of me. They both might ruin me.

-Jay is my story, my world.

Jewel E Ann became one of my MUST READ authors since I read Undeniably You last year. Her writing is intoxicating. She has created some of the most incredible book boyfriends that not many can rival. ONE is a spin-off of the ”Jack & Jill”series. The main characters met in Dawn of Forever and the little scene that they share definitely had us readers wanting more of Cage and Lake’s story! Well, all I can say is that you will not be disappointed with the journey Jewel takes these two characters on. I find myself still sighing over all things Cage Monaghan.

13418420_1707464349503914_7051822968311113777_o

Lake Jones, little sister of Luke from the ”Jack & Jill” series has recently moved to Minnesota, with her hairless cat, Trzy. She needed to start fresh somewhere that didn’t have all the painful reminders of her past life before the tragic car accident that resulted in the death of her fiancé and the loss of her leg. She works as a tester of prosthetic legs for the scientist that creates them. For the most part, she’s happy with her life, but she’s been going through a long dry spell in the romance department. Lake still mourns the loss of her fiancé, but she also hasn’t been able to forget the man she met three years ago while on a mission to help her brother, Luke, find his fiancé, Jessica. Although they only spent a couple hours together, it left a lasting impact on Lake. Cage was able to take up space in her heart and she found it impossible to let him go.

Luckily for Lake, her newest neighbor happens to be a Pro-NFL player for the Minnesota King’s and during a house party, she comes face to face with the man who’s been the focus of all her fantasies, Cage Monaghan. Cage is currently the new Quarterback for the Minnesota King’s and his performance on the field is guaranteeing a Super Bowl win. When they bump into each other, there’s no denying the attraction is still quite strong between them.

For me, it was Cage who made this book amazing. I did love the moments spent with their families, especially with Luke & Jessica, but for the most part, it was Cage that stole my heart! His love for Lake seemed limitless. I loved that he never saw her disability as a flaw and that Lake was complete perfection in his eyes. Even his jealous tendencies were adorable to me.

Lake’s vulnerability, for the most part, was endearing. I did love her ability to laugh in the face of adversity and also her tender side. Her scenes with little Shayna really tugged at the heartstrings.

The romance between the two almost seems like it’s insta-love, but you have to remember Cage and Lake met years ago and that it only took a few hours to develop a strong attraction towards each other. The love between Cage and Lake is beyond intense. I was almost surprised at how for the most part the story seemed to be very low on drama. But then we get to the 90% mark and I felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest!! I couldn’t breathe!!! This was going to make or break my love for this book!!! Jewel really knows how to literally pull the rug out from under you and nearly drive you to drink!! I do enjoy books that torture me a bit because if everything flows too easily in a story without any major conflict involved, I tend to lose interest quickly.

ONE is a standalone, but if you haven’t read the ”Jack & Jill’series, I highly recommend that you do. For starters, it was an AMAZING series and most importantly, Lake and Cage meet in the third book and you’ll want to experience that part of their history. You’ll understand why this book had to be written.

REVIEW – SPINSTER? by Nikki Mathis Thompson

IMG_9540.JPG

SYNOPSIS:

In centuries past, women of a certain age are supposed to be married, if not, society begins to come up with reasons why. Frigid. Unattractive. Picky. Not enough goats in her dowry.
The sad state of affairs is, that in today’s society, things haven’t changed that much. Except maybe the goat part, well, depending on what part of the globe one resides.
Meet Tess Warner —Smart, independent, great job, great friends, full life…chronically single. Not that she’s obsessed with finding her plus one, but she’s not ruling it out either. She lives her life as she see’s fit, open to what comes her way. Little did she know a random request from an old classmate was about to come her way, a request that would put her in the path with someone from her past. Not his past, because he has no idea she existed, then or now. His past ends up being more than Tess had bargained for, making her question her no baggage code of ethics, as well as everything she thought she new about love, and letting go.
This is a story of a woman, then and now. Sexual misadventures, embarrassments, achievements, varying levels of self-esteem, and pant sizes. A humorous look at a modern woman’s plight transversing the mine field of frogs. And maybe, just maybe, colliding with the fabled, “one.”

-“Years of disappointing encounters had honed her faking skills like the sword skills of a samurai. It was all very choreographed. She imagined herself wielding a blade. Slash…”moan.” Slash… “ooh.” Jab… “yes, that’s it.” Raising her sword above her head, she went in for the kill…the not so subtle, but highly effective, shudder.”
-“He had the penis the size of a baby carrot. Sure they look cute in a salad, but when attached the guy you’re falling for…depressing.”
-“Wine made her do slutty things, especially if consumed in indiscriminate quantities. That’s why she drank Vodka, it was the safest bet…Well, if you don’t count that afternoon in Miami. But, in her defense, that scantily clad cabana boy at Fontainebleau had a body that would make a nun come in her habit.”
-“The reason there are so many fish in the sea is because ninety-eight percent have to be thrown back.”

5 Charming Stars*****

(ARC kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review)

What a fun novel!!!! I started reading it in the morning and was done by night, I simply couldn’t put it down. I had to pushed back appointments, ignore the office, and I even asked my husband to take care of dinner, because I didn’t want to miss one minute of this charming story. A delightful book that I’m sure will make everyone who reads it, feel happy!

19831927._SY540_

Why is it that if a woman isn’t married by a certain age, people assume something is wrong with her? Doesn’t matter if she’s happy and successful, if she’s not attached to someone she becomes damage goods.

That is a topic that our heroine, Tess Warner knows a lot about. Tess has a wonderful job she loves and she’s great at, as a writer for an urban magazine. She has a group of amazing friends that keep her life colorful and a family who adores her, but worry about her, because she’s still single.

We follow Tess around as she goes from date to date, some good, and some total disasters, but lucky for us, whichever way it goes for her, we’ll laugh because she faces every experience with a lot of great humor.

When Tess does finally find someone that is the complete package, turns out, he might have a little too much baggage. Can she handle it and finally put all her chips down and gamble for possible heartbreak or will she simply quit the game, and move on?

Reading this book felt like going on a girls night out; fun, adventurous, flirty and a little bit inappropriate. That is the Nikki Mathis Thompson writing style. Her books always feel empowering, and completely relatable, just a ton of fun!

In a world where so much negativity is going around, a book like this one; that brings readers together and delivers so many smiles, is vital. So read it, enjoy it, share it!

I believe we all have a little bit of Tess inside of us. When you get to your thirties you are finally coming into your own, you feel more comfortable in your own skin, so why settle?

This book reminded me, that we all should focus more on the positive that we have going on in our lives. Embrace our flaws and strengths, and simply learn to let go of the bad and move on, because our happiness should solely depend on us, we shouldn’t put that responsibility on anybody else.

So tonight, get a bottle of your favorite wine, and indulge in this wonderful book; you will have a grand time, I promise.

USA TODAY bestselling author Lauren Layne is the “queen of witty dialogue and sexy scenes” (Rachel Van Dyken)! ”I know we don’t want the same things, and you don’t want complicated. I don’t want complicated either, and I was thinking…I was thinking maybe we get this out of our system.”

This book was such a wonderful surprise. I will be honest. I thought the previous novella was very lukewarm and mediocre. But I love Lauren Layne and more often than not, her books are usually a hit for me. But then I started seeing some reviews and nobody seemed to be over the moon in love with this one. Luckily for me, I couldn’t get enough of this story!! This series centers around three women who work as wedding planners at New York City’s most elite wedding planning agency, The Wedding Belles. Now, don’t let the titles and covers of the books fool you like they did me. These stories are not about sappy weddings and pure fluff, oh no! From what I have experienced in this book, I would say these are some seriously hot and angsty adult contemporary romances, that contain some top book boyfriend contenders!! It may be premature for me to say, but this series could possibly top Ms. Layne’s Stilletto series. I found this book to pack quite a punch!!

To Have To Hold - Teaser 3

Brooke Baldwin is the newest Belle. Her move to NYC was a result of having recently been left at the altar when the FBI showed up during her wedding to arrest her fiancé for stealing millions through a Ponzi scheme. She’s looking for a fresh start and her wedding scandal ended up ruining her reputation on the West Coast. Her first client is Maya Tyler, heiress to the billion dollar Tyler Hotel Group conglomerate. She feels the floor drop from beneath her when she comes face to face with whom she believes to be the groom. Never has she had an instant attraction to the Groom of the wedding she is hired to plan. Luckily for her, Seth Tyler happens to be the older brother of the bride to be. He is jaw dropping gorgeous but unfortunately he comes off as quite the pompous douchebag. But there is an undeniable electric chemistry between Brooke and Seth.

I have many tropes that I love in a good romance and one of them is when there is a love/hate connection between the two main characters. It usually guarantees that there will be a healthy dose of angst and mind blowing steam to satisfy my reading needs. The chemistry between the hero and heroine in this story is incredibly HOT!!!! I found myself almost beyond impatient for their heated arguments to turn into some hard and angry sex, which ultimately is inevitable between two people who definitely feel an intense attraction for one another.

It isn’t customary for the brother of the bride to be so involved with all the wedding planning details but since both of their parents are deceased, Seth is very protective of his little sister and he’s not getting good vibes from the man who wants to marry his sister. Seth suspects the man is a con-artist who is only after his sister for her money. His interfering ways and gruff behavior irk Brooke to no end, and yet she can’t stop the insane attraction she feels for Seth. And Seth makes any kind of excuse to spend more time with her.

Neither Brooke nor Seth believes that the attraction building between them can turn into something permanent but they also won’t be able to fight it for too long. Both agree to give in to their desires just for one night and let me just say, I might have just melted into a puddle of desire at this point. What sweet relief!!!

When one night proves not to be enough to quench their desires for each other, will Brooke and Seth realize what they have is something so much more before it’s too late?

I honestly enjoyed this one so much! By the end it put a huge smile on my face, and yet I was sad to have to say goodbye to Seth and Brooke, but I’m sure that they’ll be around in the next two books as well. Hopefully, we’ll get to see where the road ahead takes them.

Delaney Hart is the oldest of three sisters from a small town in California called Wildwood. She had a tough childhood & had always been considered the rebel/bad girl with a reputation that followed her. After a tragedy rocks her life, she leaves town for Los Angeles & plans to never return. Suddenly she finds herself unemployed and returning to the town she hadn’t been to in over a decade. She has to deal with property her family still owns & decide if she wants to renovate it or demolish it. One thing she didn’t plan on is the sexy guy from her past that she crosses paths with. Ethan Hayes was never even on her radar in high school, but he certainly is now. He’s gorgeous & she can’t believe she ever overlooked him. She decides he would be the perfect distraction from her current problems.

Ethan Hayes is a man living with many regrets after a decision in his past changed the course of his life. His father is the mayor & he has a wealthy influential family that tries to control him. He gives his loyalty to people that don’t deserve it. He’s given up everything to pursue his dream of owning his own brewery. While he works towards his goals, he earns money working for the city. This puts him involved with the woman he had a huge crush on in high school. Delaney didn’t even know he existed back then, & now their families were in a feud. She should be off limits to him since getting close to her would be professional & personal suicide, but the more Ethan is around her, the more he wants her.

-He was such a sucker for her.

-“You can’t deny there’s something between us. Something…intense.”

-The passion between them flared so fast and so hot it dragged him under until Ethan couldn’t breathe for wanting her so badly.

-It was obvious she still wanted him. And she was having as much trouble fighting their attraction as he was.

-“We are fucking nuclear together, and we both want the same thing.”

Ethan is tired of letting his family determine his path in life, & decides to go after Delaney. The more time he spends with her, the more connected he feels to her. He begins to not care so much about the complications & his own agenda, & just wants to be with her. Real feelings develop & what started out as a fling slowly turns into so much more.

Ethan is making Delaney want things she’s never had before, like unconditional love. She’s always taken care of everyone else & he makes her feel safe & special. She originally wanted to be done with this town. Do what she needed & run away again, but now she’s reconsidering putting roots back down in her home town. She hadn’t felt this kind of desire or comfort with a man ever before, & even though she didn’t usually do relationships, she found herself wanting more with Ethan. They both decide to take control of their future while seeing if they can also possibly be with one another. Can they make it work when everything & everyone seem to be against them? I really enjoyed this book about forbidden romance & hope the next book is for Trace & Avery! :))

-She was the one person who seemed to be able to quiet the chaos inside him.

-“We have something, and it’s not going away.”

-“I want more, Delaney.”

-“You’re amazing.”

-“Everything…a man could…ever want.”

If you have ever read a Skye Jordan novel, you know that her Heroes are the ultimate sexy as hell alphas and her heroines are as tough as nails with maybe a tiny bit of the damsel in distress in them. And you are sure to get a healthy dose of the most decadent panty melting schmexy times that will set your libido on fire. That is definitely what you are in store for with Forbidden Fling. I will warn you that it does start off a bit slow but when things start to heat up between the two main characters, it was hard for me to put this one down.

Delaney Hart has returned back to her hometown after having left for several years. A certain tragic accident and subsequent harassment from some of the townsfolk forced her to run away from her home and family. The township is threatening to demolish her family’s rundown and abandoned bar, and her aunt Phoebe asks her to come back home so that she could make the decision on whether to demolish or rebuild the property.

Ethan Hayes is the local building inspector and has been planning on running a brewery with his grandfather, but he needs a liquor license. He was certain that the Harts would end up demolishing their bar and that he’d be able to buy their liquor license. Never in his wildest dreams did he think that Delaney Hart would return home. He had a huge crush on her during their high school years but was never even a blip on Delaney’s radar. Back then, she only went out with the bad boys and Ethan was too straight-laced for her.

When they both cross paths again, they can’t help but notice how insanely attracted they are to each other. And what they think is only going to be a one-time deal, turns out getting complicated and so much more serious rather quickly. When Delaney finds out who Ethan is, she tries to put an end to what was starting to develop between them, and Ethan knows they couldn’t have a future together since his family blames Delaney for their tragic loss. Can these two overcome insurmountable obstacles and find true love with each other?

If you’re into adult contemporary with a healthy dose of steam and angst, then this book is one not to be missed.Forbidden Fling is available now!
