SYNOPSIS
Fans of Christina Lauren and Colleen Hoover will love this sexy and emotional fourth book in the New York Times bestselling Dirty Deeds series.
Following the sudden death of his wife, Nathan Bell has spent nearly two years burying himself in work and neglecting his biggest responsibility: his daughter. Overcome with guilt, he wants to connect with little Marley, but he doesn’t know how to do it alone. And then Jenna Savage throws him a lifeline.
A single mom of twins, Jenna is more than capable of taking care of Nate’s adorable two-year-old, and wants to help Nathan however she can. Soon, attachments are made, forcing Jenna and her kids into new territory. And the closer everyone becomes, the more right it feels.
Falling in love forces Nathan to face his biggest fear, and when hearts, both big and little, are on the line, the only thing scarier than needing someone is losing them all.

My heart had become its own protector. It let me love, but it held me back. It hoped, just like it always did, but it wouldn’t believe anymore in the certainty of what I was feeling. With every wish it allowed, it whispered caution behind it. Be careful. You know how I can break.
J. Daniels has finished off the ”Dirty Deeds” series with a story that will have your hearts soaring and your temperatures rising. I have been anxiously anticipating the release of Nate’s book and I can honestly say it was well worth the wait!! I am so torn between Stitch and Nate as my favorite Heroes from this series. I guess I do have a soft spot for romances with single fathers. Nate’s relationship with his little girl, Marley, had me swooning hard over him. Jenna was his true soul mate. I loved how the two were so perfect for each other and that their children played crucial roles in the plot development.
Nate’s wife died nearly two years ago and since that time he has thrown himself into running his restaurant, Whitecaps. Leaving his baby daughter with his parents to watch over, who at first were accommodating to help Nate through his grief but now his parents no longer want to play the role of permanent babysitters. Nate feels like his world has been turned upside down. He has no idea how to care for Marley as he never spent enough time with her to form that special father/daughter bond. He runs into Jenna at his restaurant when she stops by with her twins to have a bite to eat. She immediately becomes smitten with Nate’s cute little girl and offers to help him out by babysitting her while he’s at work.
Jenna not only helps Nate get to know Marley, but she also ends up stirring up feelings he never thought he would be capable of again! These two had serious chemistry, but they also formed almost an instant emotional connection through their easy friendship and mutual adoration over their children. Jenna has never been with a man who was worthy enough of her and her twins. Nate is the first man to show her true affection and who also genuinely cares for Oliver and Olivia. She’s falling fast for him, but Nate is still haunted by his wife’s death and carries so much guilt over it deep inside him. Can he let go of the past or will it destroy his chances at a beautiful future?

Excerpt
Marley kept whining. She stomped her foot and shook her head at her father when he held out a stuffed giraffe. Nate swapped it out for a book, turning to a page and pointing at one of the pictures. She wasn’t interested. Marley fell back onto her butt as tears hit her cheeks. Her legs kicked against the floor with fury.
Nate pinched his eyes shut, ran a hand through his hair, and looked down at her. He appeared lost, and possibly on the brink of a melt-down himself.
He was overwhelmed, that was clear.
“Has she eaten dinner? Maybe she’s hungry,” I said, walking over to the play yard. On instinct, I bent over the gate and held out my arms. I wanted to soothe her somehow. I at least wanted to try. I hated seeing this sweet thing so upset.
Marley immediately stood up and came to me. When I got her on my hip, she settled down and played with the chain around my neck again.
“I don’t know what she is,” Nate replied. He held up his glasses and rubbed at his eyes. “I guess she could be hungry.”
“If you want, I can take her out there and she can eat with us. It’s just me and my kids.”
“Really?”
“Sure. What does she like off the menu?”
He looked at Marley, thinking hard on that question. “Normal two-year-old stuff?” Our gazes met. I saw the embarrassment in his eyes before he looked down and away. “Sorry. I really don’t know what she likes. I haven’t spent much time with her.” He gripped the back of his neck, mumbling, “I’m sure that’s obvious right now.”
His shame was palpable.
Something about the way Nate spoke, the humiliation in his voice, the rejection—he wanted to know his daughter. He wanted to have the answer to any question I could ask him about her, and he didn’t know how.
Everything inside me that made me who I was, wanted to help him.

WRAPPED UP IN READING’s REVIEW OF JOCK ROAD
SYNOPSIS
EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.
Those are Jackson Jennings, Jr’s three mantras . His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one end-game: the Pro’s. No girls. No parties. No alcohol.
EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.
Repeat.
Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.
BIG. DUMB. JOCK.
Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

I kiss his majestic nose again. Again. Loving every second of it, cherishing this moment, hoping to remember it forever, no matter what ends up happening with us. We may not have a happily ever after—only time will tell—but we’re happy now, and I want to touch his soul—and his body
The ”Jock Hard” series is my favorite of Sara Ney’s works. In ”JOCK ROAD” our alpha male Hero is Iowa States’ famous wide receiver, Jackson Jennings, aka ”Triple J”. He’s a hulking specimen of a man but with the innocence of a prepubescent young boy. He’s a Hero readers will find it hard not to fall in love with. Charlotte, aka ”Charlie”, Edmonds, our Heroine, is a spitfire who is not at all threatened by Jackson’s size or in awe of his status of being the next #1 NFL draft pick. These two get off to a very rocky start but their journey is filled with a lot of laughs and equal amounts of heartfelt moments.
Since a very young age, Jackson’s father has ingrained in his head that football is his life. There is room for nothing else, especially women. At twenty-two, he’s never once defied his father and that is why he avoids temptation by spending his Friday nights cruising down Main Street for fun. Little did he know that his tailgating and his truck’s offensive high beams would introduce him to the woman who would have him questioning whether there was more to life than just football.
Jackson is a walking contradiction that becomes a refreshing surprise to Charlie. It’s on their first date that she realizes that he’s out of his element and just as insecure as she is. She knows that if she doesn’t keep her defenses up, that she’ll be heading towards inevitable heartbreak. After just one kiss, Jackson is completely smitten and realizes he’s never felt what it was like to truly live until Charlotte walked into his life. Can he have the girl plus a career in the NFL?
