REVIEW – CAN’T GET ENOUGH (The Original Heartbreakers #6) by Gena Showalter

SYNOPSIS

New York Times best selling author Gena Showalter returns with a sizzling Original Heartbreakers tale, featuring a rough, tough bad boy brought to his knees by… a kindergarten teacher?

The king of one-night stands…
To inherit–and destroy–his father’s business at long last, Brock Hudson needs a wife. The ruthless ex-military heartthrob has always avoided romantic entanglements. Women are sweet, but vengeance will be sweeter. Or so he thinks. Only one woman will do, but the vulnerable beauty is more than he bargained for—sexier, wittier, and utterly irresistible.

The queen of the deep freeze…
After an abusive first marriage, Lyndie Scott has sworn off relationships. But still she longs for a child of her own. Turns out, the brawler who frightens her with only a glance is the answer to her problems. She agrees to his proposal, with a caveat: spend every night in bed with her, then walk away for good when it’s time to divorce. Even if she’s pregnant.

A marriage of breathtaking inconvenience…
As the days pass too quickly and the nights heat up, Brock battles a sense of possession and obsession. Will the former commitment-phobe convince his wife they’re better off together, or will she pack her bags and go?

Truth was truth, and he finally understood his obsession with her. He’d loved her at moment one, when his heart had known what his mind had not. She’s my other half.

CAN’T GET ENOUGH is my third read in ”The Original Heartbreakers” series and it’s hands down my FAVORITE!!First of all, that cover—it’s visually STUNNING!! I will admit without any shame that I can appreciate a good Harlequin romance with some cheesy dialogue and a guaranteed sugary sweet happily ever after–this book delivered and then some! The story’s pace was perfect and the chemistry between Brock and Lyndie was explosive! What I appreciated, even more, was the fact that the story didn’t drag out any unnecessary drama with the psychotic villains which I felt took some of the enjoyment factors away from the previous books. The steam is off the charts hot in this one but the wait to get to the schmexy nearly killed me!! Overall I can’t complain because when Brock and Lyndie give in to their desires it was so worth the long and tortuous wait!!

Lyndie’s been having baby fever since both of her best friends are pregnant and have found their true loves. While she’s not at all looking to be tied down to another man since she’s still traumatized by the abuse she suffered at the hands of her deceased ex-husband, Lyndie is yearning for a baby of her own. There’s only one man she wants to help with her situation and it’s the man who’s been the star of all her naughty fantasies—Brock Hudson. He’s known to be a man whore and not the type to want to be tied down to a monogamous relationship and that actually works for Lyndie because she wants to raise her baby on her own.

Just when she decides that she’s going to proposition Brock, he shows up at her house and offers her a shocking proposition of his own. Brock’s father has just passed and has left him practically everything including the family’s billion-dollar corporation, with the stipulation that he marries a woman who will bring love and light back into Brock’s life. His father failed Brock time and again when he was younger by not being around to protect him from his witch of a mother who was mentally and physically abusive. In this respect, Lyndie and Brock are kindred spirits. They’ve both lost a bit of their self-worth at the hands of unloving and cruel parental figures. In a gesture to make amends, Brock’s father was hoping to ensure his son lived out the rest of his life being happy and loved by a good woman. So Brock proposes marriage to Lyndie and promises that it should only be for a couple of months while he’s able to sort out the family business and that in return he would give her a million dollars. Lyndie rejects his offer to pay her the million dollars but does agree to go through with the marriage so long as he fathers her child.

Brock is stunned and not at all sure he wants to be a father but Lyndie assures him that she doesn’t want him to have any role in the upbringing of their child. This, however, doesn’t bring relief to Brock. Deep down he feels a pang in his heart because even though he’s afraid to admit it, he really wants something more with Lyndie. They come to an agreement and soon become husband and wife. They have a wildly erotic wedding night and I mean even I was getting the vapors, but then Lyndie puts on the brakes and declares that they will not be having sex till she’s ovulating in another two weeks. The waiting and the anticipation was killing them both and myself included! As the days go by the two of them settle in this rhythm and before they know it, they’ve become an integral part of each other’s lives. Now their hearts are invested even though they foolishly thought they could keep emotions out of the equation.

While it’s plain to see that the couple belongs together, they also clearly have issues that they each need to work out before they can bring anything to their relationship. Lyndie is so driven by her need to be independent that she’s unwilling to make compromises and Brock is so far gone for Lyndie that he holds himself back for fear of scaring her away. You know that this is a Harlequin romance so we are guaranteed an HEA and even though it’s predictable I couldn’t help but love this story!! Pure enjoyment!

REVIEW – BEHIND THE BARS by Brittainy C. Cherry

SYNOPSIS

When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.

I was the awkward musician, and she was the high school queen.
The only things we had in common were our music and our loneliness.

Something in her eyes told me her smile wasn’t always the truth.
Something in her voice gave me a hope I always wished to find.
And in a flash, she was gone.

Years later, she was standing in front of me on a street in New Orleans.
She was different, but so was I. Life made us colder. Harder. Isolated.

Caged.

Even though we were different, the broken pieces of me recognized the sadness in her.
Now she was back, and I wouldn’t make the mistake of letting her go again.

When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops.
When we met again, I became her darkest storm.

4.5 Stars!

-If you had one person who’d catch you when you were crashing through life, you were blessed beyond measure.

Jasmine Greene is a beautiful, popular 16 yr. old girl living in New Orleans. Her mother wants to make her famous. She’s grooming her to be a star. She takes singing, dancing, & acting lessons, and is constantly going on auditions. Her mother wants her to be a triple threat with her talents, but Jasmine just wants to make her mama proud. She’s always working hard to try to make her happy, but she also longs to live a normal life. That includes public school, so when her mother agrees to enroll her at Cannon High School, she’s thrilled. She’s felt so lonely she’s looking forward to being around kids her own age.

Jasmine witnesses a boy at school being bullied. She later locks eyes with him outside of school. She hears him before she see’s him. He plays the saxophone on the corner. His music is hauntingly sad, but beautiful. His notes send chills down her spine & make her feel so much. His music touched her heart & changed her.

Jasmine felt the need to be close to Elliott. They were two lonely souls who connected. When she listened to him play she didn’t feel so alone. They healed the part of each other that was broken. Then life & tragedy take them in different directions. They are apart for a time before they find their way back to one another.

This was a beautiful story that touches the heart. It’s sad at times, but full of so much love. I adored Jasmine & Elliott together. I also loved the people close to them. Family is those who love us most & what we make it.

-“No woman can only fall in love with the music of jazz. She always quietly yearns for the musician behind the bars.”

-We were polar opposites. We weren’t meant to fall for one another, but when we blended together, we were some kind of beautiful.

-I knew Elliott Adams was love, and I was falling into him so fast.

-Our love existed in every second, and every touch we shared.

-“You were, are, and always will be my favorite song.”

REVIEW – TORRID LITTLE AFFAIR (Forbidden Desires #3) by Kendall Ryan

SYNOPSIS

The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else. And I have the perfect candidate all picked out.

My new assistant is tempting beyond belief with her curvy body and take-no-shit attitude. All those luscious curves, and a juicy ass I’m already in love with. God, the things that I would do to that ass…

But it’s the haunted look in her eyes that speaks to me. Like she’s taken just as much shit in her past as I have—maybe more. We both deserve a little fun.

Love can’t fix everything. Mind-blowing sex and a few killer orgasms, on the other hand?

I have a feeling those might do the trick.

This is book three in the Forbidden Desires series, and while it can be read as a standalone, it’s recommended you start with Dirty Little Secret.

Something about this woman—the feel of her, the taste of her, just her general presence—made me want to know her. To have her completely as my own.

Cooper is the youngest of the Kingsley brothers and the one with the biggest heart. In the previous book, his heart had been broken when Emma chose his older brother Gavin over him. So Cooper left Boston to get away for a while and has been losing himself to alcohol and a different woman every night, but months later he still hasn’t gotten over the rejection. After nearly six months he’s being summoned back by his older brother Quinn, who threatens to cut him off if he doesn’t return to Boston.

Cooper’s pleasantly surprised when he meets the new executive assistant on his first day back in the office. He mistakenly thinks that she is a gift to him from his brother and becomes an HR nightmare when he propositions Corinne right in his office. He realizes his error in judgment when she runs out of his office in tears. But what does he do the next time they’re together? He offers to help her with her issues with physical intimacy after she tells him about her hangup.

I really liked Cooper in the previous books but he lacked finesse and charisma in his story. His desperation made him unattractive to me and the plot had so many holes in it that I struggled to get through the story. My love for the author is what kept me invested until the end and although this was my least favorite book so far in this series, it did improve a bit later on.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 3
Heroine: 3

REVIEW – IT’S COMPLICATED by Missy Johnson

SYNOPSIS

They call him the Anaconda, and I’m pretty sure it isn’t because he likes snakes.

Nick Jenson is my neighbor. My hot, oh-so-sexy, very-well-equipped neighbor that I’d spend hours watching from the safety of my bedroom window.

I saw lots of things I probably shouldn’t have. Sometimes I’d touch myself, imagining it were his hands roaming over my body instead of my own. I had just one mission—to find out if the rumors were true.

Then one day, he caught me watching him.

I was mortified. I was prepared to quit college, move to another country, and live the rest of my life saying, “Nick who?” But, apparently, life had other ideas.

Because Nick? Well, he isn’t just my neighbor … He’s also my father’s best friend. If I thought things were difficult before, they were about to get a whole lot more complicated.

Oh, and those rumors? Holy fuck, were they true …

*****FOUR STARS*****

IT’S COMPLICATED is a super fun and steamy tale of forbidden romance between a young woman and her father’s best friend. There’s very little angst and definitely a case of insta-love between the main characters but still, I enjoyed this guilty pleasure of a read.

From the beginning of the story, I knew that it was going to deliver on the steam but that the plot would be a little silly and predictable and even so, I honestly can’t lie—I thoroughly enjoyed the book and breezed through it pretty quickly. We learn that Anna’s next door neighbor Nick, who also happens to be her father’s best friend, has a penis the size of an anaconda according to the town gossip. Nick’s wife died a few years ago and he’s just recently been dating again. Anna overhears a conversation about Nick’s well-endowed penis while at her University’s library and that night she gets an eyeful of it when she turns into a peeping pervert, watching him undress from her bedroom window. Anna had always thought of Nick as an attractive man but until that night she had never had any dirty fantasies about him. She ends up getting caught peeping later that same week and Nick is a little shocked and horrified to find out that he’s turned on by his beautiful twenty-two-year-old neighbor who used to babysit his kids when she was seventeen.

Nick and Anna start to play sexy games with each other by performing stripteases in front of their bedroom windows knowing that they each are getting a good look at each other’s naughty bits. When Anna’s dad asks her to go and help Nick out with his kids so that he can get some alone time, he had no idea that he would be pushing the two in each other’s arms. Things heat up pretty quickly between Nick and Anna and there are many times where the hot sex has nearly fried their brains because they take some crazy risks to be together knowing that Anna’s father will burst a blood vessel in his brain if he were to find out what’s been going on between them.

It’s inevitable that their secret is going to get out because they can’t seem to keep their libidos in check and when Anna and Nick realize that what they feel for each other is more than just physical desire it will only be a matter of time before they have to face the repercussions of their actions. Will their loved ones wind up being accepting of their relationship?

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 4
Heroine: 4
Plot: 3.5
Angst: 3
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4.5

REVIEW – TALES FROM CUSHMAN ROW by Suanne Laqueur

SYNOPSIS

“Come here, you moron.”

For fans of the Venery series, author Suanne Laqueur offers a compendium of love scenes—unpublished chapters, character sketches and assorted reflections about Javier Landes and Steffen Finch. A treat to skim through, skip around and linger over at leisure. Like caviar.

For people who like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing they will like. Contains adults in adult situations using adult language and a f**k-ton of gratuitous boning. No socks required. Batteries sold separately.

*****Dee’s Review*****

5++++ Jav & Stef Stars*****

If you are a fan of A Charm Of Finches this book will be like an early Christmas present to you. It’s a wonderful and sexy, sort of montage of Javier and Stef’s romance.

As a die-hard fan of Suanne Laqueur whenever I read one of her books, I’m always wondering what’s it like inside her brain. Only because I admire her brilliant creativity, and her ability to create such beautiful and compassionate stories. Reading this book felt like she was giving us, her readers permission inside her head, if only for a little while, and it was sublime. The way this book is written, you get an inside look into Suanne’s feelings and also her creative process.

Once again we get the pleasure of experiencing the connection between these two men who finally found with each other exactly what they’ve been searching for their whole lives, a safe place to love, and freely.

This book is full of passion, it is a sexier angle into the relationship between Stef and Jav. These two men are crazy about each other and it was incredibly sensual to witness how they could hardly keep their hands off each other, but also how much patience and vulnerability they had to produce for the sake of their love.

I can see myself reading this book over and over because I feel like each story has hidden gems, lessons, and feelings that will continue to give and give and feel new with every read. I absolutely adored this novel, to me, it is a celebration of love and passion between characters that have permanent residence inside my heart. Simply brilliant!!!!

*****Dee’s Review*****

5++++ Dark and Delicious Stars*********

Once you read an Ana Medeiros novel you’ll want more, need more, crave more. Her words will follow you into your dreams, steal your every thought, and consume all of your senses. This second book; part of The Raven Room Trilogy is no exception. First of all, the writing style is simply decadent, and the plot just gets better, more complicated and mind-blowing after each chapter. This story is completely addictive and an all-time favorite of mine.

In this second book, Julian is feeling shattered. Our sexy and always so-together doctor has succumbed to the pain he is feeling after a terrible loss. He’s lost in the darkness and looking for comfort in old habits.

Meredith, the tenacious writer is between a rock and a hard place. She’s willing to risk her career and even her own life, in order to find her answers. Mind while she’s discovered new pleasures, and new lovers that can give her satisfaction, and help her find the missing pieces of the puzzle she’s putting together.

So many secrets, that it’s hard to see who is really telling the truth. Sex has become dangerous and more intense, inexplicable disappearances are causing doubts and terror inside the halls of The Raven Room. But the wicked games must go on because lust is just something impossible to ignore for the members of this exciting club.

This book is a delicious page-turner that had me biting my nails and taking really cold showers throughout the whole read. Fascinating and delectable, this trilogy is out of this world AMAZING.

If you love insanely good writing style, sexy and complex plots and unforgettable characters, this is a story you should be reading. You must know that this story has heavy BDSM, sex fetishes, and both books 1 & 2 end on a heart-stopping cliffhanger. But you should also know that is one of the BEST book series you’ll ever read in your life. (Drops mic)

REVIEW – OVER US, OVER YOU by Whitney G.

SYNOPSIS

From New York Times bestselling author Whitney G. comes a falling for my older brother’s best friend romance.

Subject: Delete this message after you read it…

Dear Hayley,

I’m assuming you’re still hungover, so I’ll make this brief.

Last night, you slipped under my sheets (without my permission), and we almost had sex. I got the hell out of the bed once I realized it was you, and I took you home.

That’s the story.

The end.

Period.

Just in case you’ve forgotten, you’re my best friend’s little sister. We will never be anything more. (We can’t be anything more.) Our previous friendship is still unresolved–or “over” in your terms, so I’d prefer if we worked on becoming ‘just friends’ again since you’re in town.

Nonetheless, I’m not a man who leaves questions unanswered–even the drunken ones, so to properly close our inappropriate conversation:

1) Yes, I liked the way your lips felt against mine when you were on top of me.
2) Yes, I do “prefer” rough sex, but I’m pretty sure I wasn’t rough with you.
3) No, I had no idea you were still a virgin…

This message never happened,
Corey

5 Stars!

Hayley Statham grew up in Ohio in foster care. Now grown up, she wanted to make a name for herself & make it on her own. She even changed her last name to Smith. She moved to Seattle & started a coffee/wine bar with her best friend, that’s now gone under. She feels like a total failure, & needs a fresh start. Her only option is to call her overprotective older brother Jonathan. He’s a self-made billionaire & the CEO of Statham Industries. She heads to San Francisco to work for her brother till she gets her life back on track.

Soon after Hayley arrives in California she runs into Corey Walters. He works with her brother & is her brother’s best friend. She hasn’t seen him in years, & he’s absolutely gorgeous. She had a crush on him growing up, and always considered him her best friend too. When they are suddenly in close quarters & spending time together they have trouble resisting one another. Corey knows Hayley is off limits to him, but soon he can’t fight their attraction. He wants her to be his in every way.

I loved this big brothers best friend romance! It’s one of my favorites by Whitney G. Corey was always there for Hayley when they were younger. It was very sweet with a lot of emotion, but then there’s the adult Corey. Holy hell the man is delicious!!! A sinfully sexy businessman who can’t quit thinking about the only girl he’s ever cared about. He never forgot about Hayley. Now she’s back in his life and turning it upside down. Loved this story so much!

*****FIVE STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

She was still stunning as hell. The type of woman who left an imprint so deep on your mind that you simply learned to accept she’d always be a part of you in some way.

OVER US, OVER YOU is a romantic comedy with the ”in love with the older brother’s best friend” trope. I have to be honest, I read a story earlier this year with a very similar plot but this one here, hands down was the better of the two! Whitney G. is one of my top favorite authors and it’s very rare that she ever writes a mediocre story. I love her passion for her art. She’s not like some authors out there who seem to have a new book published every month and you can tell that it’s all about the bottom line for them. They don’t think of their fans or care if they publish a sub-standard book. I see this more with a lot of published authors as opposed to indie authors. I’m not saying that this is the case with every published author but there are some out there and I’ve been thinking about removing them from my automatic must-read list. What I meant to say after this long tirade was that I really freaking loved this book and it felt like no time had passed before I ended up finishing it. This is when I know a story is a winner! I never wanted it to end. Whitney took her time with releasing this book and I can assure you, it was worth the wait. She delivered another outstanding story for her faithful fans!

Hayley Statham is going back home to San Francisco to her older brother after having failed miserably at her first attempt at being a business owner. Her brother is a multi-billionaire with a very successful corporation. What I wouldn’t give to have an older brother like Jonathan to hook me up with a beautiful beach house, car, and a high paying job!! Hayley had it made in my opinion. But she does have an issue with sleepwalking and while her roommate to be is not due to move into her house in San Francisco till months later, Jonathan asks his best friend Corey to let Hayley live with him for a while so that he can keep an eye on her. The thing is, Jonathan doesn’t have the slightest inkling that Corey and Hayley had been secret “best friends” for many years and that they’ve harbored deep feelings for each other as well unbeknownst to the two of them.

Corey and Hayley cross paths at an art auction and the night ends up pretty steamy and also is forgotten for quite some time afterwards by an inebriated Hayley. She was so drunk she blacked out and didn’t remember how she snuck into Corey’s hotel room and tried to have her way with him. Two weeks later when they end up being roommates, Corey is cold, aloof, and downright nasty at every turn towards Hayley. Hayley’s just a bit hurt and taken aback by Corey’s treatment of her. She doesn’t know that he’s only being that way to keep her at arm’s length because he knows her brother would burst a blood vessel if he knew how Corey really felt about his little sister.

When Hayley lets Corey have a piece of her mind and is seconds away from moving out of his place, he finally reveals his true feelings for her and then the sparks are flying when all the years of unrequited love and physical desire consume the both of them. They agree to pursue a relationship but to keep it a secret until the time is right to approach Hayley’s brother with the truth.

Will Corey make the right decision when forced to choose between love and friendship?

REVIEW – ROOMIES by Christina Lauren

SYNOPSIS

From subway to Broadway to happily ever after. Modern love in all its thrill, hilarity, and uncertainty has never been so compulsively readable as in New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren’s (Beautiful Bastard, Dating You / Hating You) new romance.

Marriages of convenience are so…inconvenient.

Rescued by Calvin McLoughlin from a would-be subway attacker, Holland Bakker pays the brilliant musician back by pulling some of her errand-girl strings and getting him an audition with a bigtime musical director. When the tryout goes better than even Holland could have imagined, Calvin is set for a great entry into Broadway—until he admits his student visa has expired and he’s in the country illegally.

Holland impulsively offers to wed the Irishman to keep him in New York, her growing infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves from awkward roommates to besotted lovers, Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway. In the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting, what will it take for Holland and Calvin to realize that they both stopped pretending a long time ago?

*****FIVE++++++++ STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Authors}

I’ve had the thought almost without realizing it–the encroaching awareness that I feel settled but in truth can’t see my future at all. I have a temporary job, a temporary marriage. Will anything ever be permanent? What the hell am I going to do with my life? I only get one shot at this, and right now, I’m finding my value only in being valuable to others. How do I find value for me?

I just spent an entire day getting lost in this amazing book! ROOMIES deserves all of the stars for a rating. The plot, characters, and even the vibrant description of the music made this story simply sublime! I never wanted it to end. I fell in love instantly with Holland and Calvin and their slow-burning romance had my heart pounding with anticipation, but never did I feel that there was a lull in the progression of their story. It’s so hard to find a book that has the perfect pace to keep me fascinated from beginning to end, but this one knocked me off of my feet! It’s definitely going on my ”BEST OF 2017” list.

Holland Bakker lives in a small apartment in New York City that her uncles help pay the rent on. She works for her uncle Robert whose musical is a huge hit on Broadway. Holland’s life is in limbo. She’s not pursuing her dream of becoming a writer. It seems as though she’s stuck in a rut and doesn’t know how to move forward. There’s one thing in her life that brings her joy and excitement—a handsome and gifted guitarist whom she sees several times a week playing outside her train station. For six months she’s been crushing on the guy but never has gotten the nerve up to talk to him, then everything changes when she is nearly mugged and pushed on to the train tracks by a homeless man, and her crush comes to her rescue.

When she wakes up in the hospital Holland is a little surprised when the police and hospital staff assumed she was suicidal. She learns that sexy guitar man never reported to the police what actually went down on the subway platform. A couple of nights later, her friend drags her to a dive bar to see a local band play and is floored when she sees a familiar guitar player. Holland approaches him after his set and Calvin’s apologetic demeanor and sexy Irish accent quickly wins her forgiveness. She’s still replaying their conversation over in her head days after their encounter at the bar. When the lead violinist who has several pivotal solos in her uncle’s Broadway show ends up quitting, Holland has an epiphany. She knows that Calvin could take over the lead and he would be brilliant at it and with a little convincing she gets an audition set up for Calvin. He blows everyone away with his raw talent but drops a bomb when he confesses that he can’t accept the job because he’s been in the country illegally for the past four years.

Holland normally plays it safe and never does anything truly crazy but her love for her Uncle and her desire to help Calvin achieve his lifelong dream has her ”proposing” that they get married so that Calvin can get his green card which would allow him to be in her uncle’s show. From the very moment she approaches Calvin with her crazy plan, you can feel this intense chemistry between them. Calvin is so incredibly sweet and charming it was easy to fall madly in love with his character. What makes the story perfect is that the heroine was also just as lovable. Her inherent nature to always put others before herself and her inability to see that she was someone worth loving made her character so endearing.

I was dying from the anticipation for when they would realize that their relationship was far from ”fake” and well when it happens let’s just say we are taken on a rough and wild rollercoaster ride full of angst and emotions. Theirs is not an easy road to true and everlasting love but I always say it’s the level of angst that makes the ending that much sweeter.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

She’s working as an archivist/errand girl at a theater. The highlight of her day is her not so random trips to the subway station to watch a busker play his guitar. She’s watched this street musician for months. She has an ear for music, & is drawn to him. His music demands her attention & makes her feel everything. They’ve never met, but that all changes when the beautiful musician rescues her when she’s in danger.

When the theater Holland works at is looking for someone new for their production, she thinks of the gorgeous, talented, Irish musician she’s been crushing on. She gets him an audition with the music director and they offer him a spot in the orchestra. His name is Calvin Mcloughlin, and his student visa has expired. He’s being offered his dream, but unfortunately he’s illegally in the country. Holland has never been a risk taker. She’s bored with her life & wants to help Calvin. She offers to marry the sexy Irishman so he can stay in New York.

-“I like being with you.”

-“I think I’ve made it pretty clear you can have me if you want me.”

Holland married the stranger she’s wanted since before they ever even spoke. Their sharing an apartment, & she’s infatuated with him & his music. He becomes a star & soon she has a famous Broadway husband. Roommates turn to lovers, and suddenly they’ve stopped pretending, and everything is so real between them.

I loved EVERYTHING about this book! It’s one of my top favorites for the year. I adored Calvin & the chemistry between them was amazing. This book was sweet, sexy, full of angst, & had all the things I look for in a book. It was fabulous!!!

REVIEW – DIRTY FILTHY FIX (Fixed, #5.5) by Laurelin Paige

SYNOPSIS

I like sex. Kinky sex. The kinkier the better.

Every day, it’s all I think about as I serve coffee and hand out business agendas to men who have no idea I’m not the prim proper girl they think I am.

With a day job as the secretary to one of New York’s most powerful men, Hudson Pierce, I have to keep my double life quiet. As long as I do, it’s not a problem.

Enter: Nathan Sinclair. Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t come close to describing how hot he is. And that’s with his clothes on. But after a dirty, filthy rendezvous, I accept that if we ever see each other again, he’ll walk right by my desk on his way to see my boss without recognizing me.

Only, that’s not what happens. Not the first time I see him after the party. Or the next time. Or the time after that. And as much as I try to stop it, my two worlds are crashing into each other, putting my job and my reputation at risk.

And all I can think about is Nathan Sinclair.

All I can think about is getting just one more dirty, filthy fix.

4.5 Stars!

Trish Bisceglia is an almost 35 yr. old woman from Long Island who lives a delicious double life. By day she’s a proper secretary for one of the most powerful businessmen in New York, Hudson Pierce. Pierce Industries is one of the top firms in the city, & she takes her job very seriously. Her evenings are all about playing. She’s an independent woman who loves sex but doesn’t do commitment. She’s never seen herself settling down or being in a traditional relationship. She likes feeling free & being in control. Nobody owns her & she has no expectations. She wasn’t girlfriend material, and never wanted to feel tied down or shackled to anyone. Ten years ago she stumbled upon a club of sorts for the wealthy called The Open Door. She attended their Saturday night parties where all her kinky, filthy desires were fulfilled. These parties where she wore a mask and was referred to as T remained one of the most exciting parts of her life.

-I’m going to kiss you one way or another tonight.”

-“It’s your decision whether it’s now or later.”

-One amazing kiss from this man had me wondering about serendipity.

-I liked this guy. I liked how he looked. I liked how he moved. I certainly liked how he kissed. I liked how he knew the dirty things I wanted him to say and do to me.

-“Nathan Sinclair, you might be the sexiest man I’ve ever met.”

One evening at the club Trish shares a hot kiss with a sexy stranger with mesmerizing green eyes. His name is Nathan Sinclair. She is stunned when this beautiful man shows up for a meeting with her boss. She doesn’t think he’ll recognize her, but he does. Suddenly her two worlds are colliding & she’s all flustered. She prided herself on keeping her business life & private life separate. The secrecy always gave her the power to be in control of her own desire. Now she’s distracted at work and her rules are going up in flames. She doesn’t want to put her job at risk, but Nathan is all she can think about. They crash together every time they see each other & one taste and they’re both addicted to one another. Nathan made her feel unsettled & she was constantly desperate for him. She longed for him & missed him when they were apart. He was the first man who didn’t ask or expect anything of her. The first man to make her possibly want more.

I really enjoyed this novella that merged two of my favorite Laurelin Paige series. Trish is Hudson Pierce’s secretary from The Fixed series, & Nate’s the creative director & co-owner at the ad firm Reach, Inc. from the Dirty Duet series. This book was super sinful & I loved Nathan Sinclair! Just delicious!!!

He tasted good. Like all the other men in the room, he tasted like money and secrets. Like power and sex. But he tasted like something new too. Like fresh air and California. Like a salty breeze. Like the deep of the jungle. Like places I’d never been, but somehow recognized.

As soon as I started reading this one I thought it was going to end up being a huge disappointment for me. After having just finished a book that seemed to be 99% sex, I wasn’t ready for yet another one, but by the time I got to the end I could safely say that I really quite enjoyed this short and decadently kinky read. The hero and heroine are from two of Laurelin Paige’s most popular series–”FIXED” & ”DIRTY DUET”. They have one of the most unconventional romances but yet it worked fabulously in their story.

Trish Bisceglia is Hudson Pierce’s executive assistant. She’s a very strong and independent woman. After having grown up in a home with her eight sisters, she has come to value her solitary life and privacy above all other things. She has never wanted the life that most of her sisters ended up having. Being married to one man and having his children just doesn’t appeal to her. During the week she is all business and takes pride in her career, but every Saturday night she lets her freak flag fly and attends these exclusive sex parties that only the very wealthy and privileged attend. Many men have tried to tame her but no one had ever caught her attention until the night she meets the sexy stranger with striking green eyes. They shared one intense make-out session but nothing more. For the first time in her life, she found herself daydreaming about a man days after having seen him at the party but it seems fate intends to have them cross paths again when the handsome stranger shows up at her office as one of Hudson Pierce’s newest business associates.

Nate Sinclair is a wealthy and powerful businessman and he craves the ”kink” just as much as Trish does. He’s just as turned on by her as she is by him. They play a very sexy flirtatious game of cat and mouse which will result in some of the hottest and filthiest sex scenes I have read in a long time. I never should have doubted this author’s ability to write a really entertaining and over the top steamy story.

I ended up loving Trish and understood her need to hold on to her freedom and I also loved how Nate truly understood her. He was the only man who knew how to give Trish the ”happily ever after” that she never knew was possible. Their romance while quite unorthodox was absolutely perfect for them. I couldn’t see it ending any other way.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

REVIEW – VAN (Cold Fury Hockey #9) by Sawyer Bennett

SYNOPSIS

Score one for the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team as a stone-cold badass melts for a woman who makes his blood run hot.

As one of the league’s toughest enforcers, Van Turner is ruthless on the ice. He plays hard because it’s the only way to channel the rage boiling inside, and a reputation as an A-hole is better than everyone knowing the truth. Van has spent his entire life running from a secret that’s kept him from getting involved in relationships—or accepting lucrative deals with East Coast teams. Then the Carolina Cold Fury makes him an offer he can’t refuse . . . and Van meets a woman he can’t resist.

Simone Fournier is the stubborn one in her family—and that’s saying something, considering her brothers are two of the Cold Fury’s biggest stars. Simone gets what she wants, and what she wants is Van. Still, there’s a part of him Simone can’t reach, no matter how hard she tries. In private, he’s all fire and passion. In public, he freezes her out. Van may want to push her away, but Simone won’t let him go that easily. Because this time, she’s playing for keeps.

The Carolina Cold Fury series from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett can be read together or separately:

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

”Van?” I whisper. ”Am I still shiny?”
”Yes, Simone. So fucking shiny you make everything else in the world seem a little less dull by comparison.”

We met Van Turner and Simone Fournier in ”LUCAS”. I was excited to get to their story since I love romances with the older brother’s best friend. I knew that Van and Simone would generate a ton of heat between them since they seemed to rile each other up so easily. Their story ended up being quite different from any of the previous books. This wasn’t my favorite in the series but I must admit it was without a doubt the steamiest!

Simone is currently rooming with her older brother Lucas and his fellow Cold Fury teammate and best friend, Van Turner. She recently dropped out of college and seems just a bit lost. Lucas invites her to live temporarily in the house he shares with Van until she figures out in what direction she wants to take next in life. She is instantly smitten with Van from the moment she meets him and his cold and snarky attitude towards her only fuels her determination to seduce him.

The two play a cat and mouse game for a while. Van tries to pretend that he is not in the least bit attracted to Simone, but he’s no match against her stubbornness. Soon enough they are heating up the sheets and getting down and dirty in just about every room in their house, when Lucas is not around of course, and even in some dark alleyways out in public. These two are insatiable and up for anything to get their rocks off. Their relationship for almost three-quarters of the book seems to be purely carnal and I must admit that I was hoping for a bit more romance which doesn’t really happen till almost nearly the end of the story.

Van has a secret and it’s huge. Something from his distant past still haunts him to this day and it has affected his life deeply. His inability to form close relationships with women and awkwardness in social situations all stem from his painful past. He makes it very clear to Simone that all they can ever have is a sexual relationship and she is more than a willing participant. She made it all too easy for Van and some of her bad life choices made it hard for me to empathize with her.

These two have so much stacked against them, it seems almost impossible that they will end up having a lasting relationship together.

I have to give credit to Sawyer Bennett for coming up with a backstory for Van that I would have never have anticipated and I’m not really sure how I feel about the path she took in that respect. There was also one scene that was so cringeworthy that I wished was not even in the story at all. It made me dislike the heroine even more.

This might not be my favorite in the series but I think most of you may find it very entertaining. It’s sure to get your temperatures rising.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Heroine: 3.5
