REVIEW – HATE NOTES by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

SYNOPSIS

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.

Something blue.

I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”

Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.

He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.

But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.

Something new.

But I have no idea how this one is going to end . . .

*****FIVE STARS*****

I wanted to taste her lips and suck away that sour look on her face, yet I knew that if there was one set of lips on this earth forbidden to me, it was Charlotte Darling’s. She wasn’t just a pretty face and a hot body. She was someone who wanted inside my soul, and that was never going to happen.

HATE NOTES, the latest collaborative project by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, was simply amazing! These two can create literary masterpieces when they get all of the elements right. This story had an endearing Heroine, a ridiculously sexy Hero with an abrasive attitude, and enough angst, heart, and steam to keep a romance reader’s appetite thoroughly satiated.

While I swooned over Reed, I developed a huge girl crush for Charlotte. She was unbelievably funny, a hopeless romantic, and a risk taker. I knew she would ultimately chip away at Reed’s ice cold exterior. There were surprises that I never expected from this story and it even made me shed a few tears.

FIVE~FAVORITE ~STARS *****

I loved, loved, loved, loved this book. Any story written by these two authors is always a winner for me. They have amazing writing chemistry, and together they always create the sexiest, most entertaining stories. Hate Notes is a 2018 most favorite read of the year for me; it was absolutely fantastic!

Charlotte is going through some tough times. She’s recently had to quit her job and broke up with her fiancé. She’s now having to sell her wedding gown in order to get some money to at least eat and pay some bills, while she tries to find a new job. When she’s at the bridal store trying to negotiate the sale of her dress, she encounters a magnificent gown, and even though she’s not wanting to even think about another wedding after her heartbreak, this dress is too irresistible not to try on. The color of the dress, the whimsical design is just perfect, and Charlotte also finds a beautiful and romantic blue note sewn into the dress. That little note is just what Charlotte needs to renew the hope she lost. The note is written on the stationery of Reed Eastwood, and Charlotte is now obsessing about finding this guy.

Charlotte not only finds him but ends up working with him in his company by a crazy turn of events. He is just as handsome as she imagined, but what she didn’t imagine is that he would be rude, and mean, and that the only notes he’s willing to send her, are Hate Notes.

This book is simply wonderful. It’s laugh out loud funny, red-Hot sexy and the chemistry between the characters, and the highly entertaining plot make this book a complete page-turner, that you won’t be able to put down. So, don’t wait any longer and delve into the pages of this five star read.

REVIEW – HEARTBREAK WARFARE by Heather Orgeron & Kate Stewart

SYNOPSIS

Briggs,

Remember when we parted ways in Germany? It was the day I broke your heart. What you didn’t know was that I was breaking mine too.

I thought they’d be enough–my husband and my son. That I’d get home and everything would go back to the way it was . . .

Before the war.
Before the ambush.
Before you.

But, no matter how hard I try, I can’t erase the trauma we shared. I can’t seem to forget the way my heart beat in time with yours.

The truth is I’m lost without you.

I thought the nightmare was over when they pulled us from that hole in the ground, but nothing could have prepared me for the war I’d face at home.
I know it’s selfish of me to ask, but, please, I have to see you one last time. . .

All my love,
Scottie

{Beta Read}

I am two different women, living in two separate worlds, in love with two different soldiers. In the haze that’s now my life, clarity is all I pray for.”

I must warn you that while I genuinely thought this story was INCREDIBLE, you are sure to suffer emotional turmoil while reading it. This was not an easy read AT ALL!! At times, I wondered if I was going to be able to get through it. It’s incredibly DARK and GRITTY at times and it was written in a way that I could envision it up on the big screen! HEARTBREAK WARFARE is one of the angstiest books I’ve ever read!! It is going to set off certain triggers for some readers and I know there will be some who won’t be able to read it because of the ”Love Triangle” and I will say this, it’s not an easy pill to swallow. There is no obvious good guy vs. bad guy in this story. Gavin and Briggs are equally awesome in their own way, and while I did end up loving them both, there was one who captured a bigger piece of my heart, but I’ll be keeping that little tidbit to myself.

There was never a moment when I felt like this was being written by two different authors. Their writing style complimented each other seamlessly. You can tell that they did some major research during the scenes in Baghdad. The BRUTALITY that ensued was extremely painful for me to read. While I wished certain parts of the story could be changed I understood why the authors were adamant to keep them as is. There is no way in hell that you aren’t going to be affected by this story!

While I do believe that Katy found herself in an impossible situation, I was often angry with her character. I felt like screaming some sense into her and while I was also terrified for her, I did think she could have avoided so much heartache if she had made different choices, but my version of how things should have gone would have had this book ending after the first chapter and that would be a true travesty. I was so completely caught up in this book that I felt like I knew these characters personally and I became so emotionally invested in their lives.

I know that there are some readers out there that avoid angst and love triangles at all costs, but I do believe they’d be missing out on one amazing story! I have a strong feeling that this is going to be a HUGE HIT for Kate and Heather!

Here are my overall ratings:

His beautiful, hard body is the best thing I’ve ever felt. I cling to him as we wrap our arms around each other, and for the first time since my mom passed, it feels like everything really does have meaning. A purpose. There really is fate. There really is emotion that transcends sorrow and sadness, those pains merely preparing you to accept the sweetness in life. Love.

I BET YOU is another sexy and funny sports romance about a popular college jock and quirky and sassy coed. There are countless romances with the same players and yet I never get tired of them. This story was steamy, wildly funny, and thoroughly entertaining. It’s not my first book by Ilsa Madden-Mills, and it will not be my last either. I love this author!

Ryker and Penelope may seem like an odd couple to most but they’re perfect for each other. A bet between the players of the Waylon football team is what sparks this unlikely romance but deep down they have a real burning attraction building between them. I loved their funny banter and smoking hot chemistry. There’s a nice dose of angst thrown in to mess with a reader’s emotions but in the end, this story has a lot of heart! I was thoroughly entertained and delighted with this one. I highly recommend it.

REVIEW – ERIK (Arizona Vengeance, #2) by Sawyer Bennett

SYNOPSIS

The Arizona Vengeance are developing a reputation on the ice as one of hockey’s top teams. But one player’s reputation offthe ice might just keep him from scoring. . . .

I’m having the time of my life with my new brothers on the Arizona Vengeance. We may be an expansion team, but after notching some big wins, the entire league knows to watch out for Erik Dahlbeck. That’s me.

The only person who doesn’t seem to think I’m so great? Blue Gardner, the hot-as-f*** flight attendant on our team plane. I sure wouldn’t mind joining the mile-high club with her, but besides bringing me lukewarm coffee, she won’t give me the time of day. Whatever I did to rub Blue the wrong way, my teammates think it’s hilarious. After all, we’re used to women flocking to us. #puckbunnies

When I run into Blue back on land, I’m shocked to learn how she spends her time off: taking care of her handicapped brother. There are layers to this girl I never imagined, layers I can’t wait to peel away. And that’s a new feeling for me.

But first I’ve got to find a way to melt that ice-cold stare. Because as much as I try to pretend I don’t care what Blue thinks of me, how can you not care when you’re falling for someone?

The Arizona Vengeance series from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett can be read together or separately:

ERIK is the second installment in Sawyer Bennett’s newest series revolving around the NHL’s Arizona Vengeance. These hockey players are seriously sexy and just a bit dirtier than the men of the Cold Fury.

This is a second chance romance, although unfortunately, Erik doesn’t remember his first encounter with Blue, which is why she holds so much animosity towards him. Their story is downright steamy with a heavy dose of heart to go along with it. Fans of Sawyer Bennett are sure to fall in love with Erik, one of Arizona Vengeance’s top defenders.

REVIEW – ROYALLY YOURS (Royally, #4) by Emma Chase

SYNOPSIS

New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase returns with a sweet and sexy standalone in the Royally Series.

Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco.

It’s a big deal.

When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning.

What she isn’t… is married.

It’s her advising council’s first priority. It’s what Parliament is demanding, and what her people want.

Lenora has no desire to tie herself to a man—particularly one who only wants her for her crown. But compromises must be made and royals must do their duty.

Even Queens. Especially them.

**

Years ago, Edward Langdon Richard Dorian Rourke, walked away from his title and country. Now he’s an adventurer—climbing mountains, exploring jungles, going wherever he wants, when he wants—until family devotion brings him home.

And a sacred promise keeps him there.

To Edward, the haughty, guarded little Queen is intriguing, infuriating…and utterly captivating. Wanting her just might drive him mad—or become his greatest adventure.

**

Within the cold, stone walls of the royal palace—mistrust threatens, wills clash, and an undeniable, passionate love will change the future of the monarchy forever.

Every dynasty has a beginning. Every legend starts with a story.

This is theirs.

I was made for this…for her. To cherish her, protect her and challenge her, to guide her and follow her—to be the man she needs, so she can be the woman, the Queen, she was always meant to be.

The ”ROYALLY” series is by far my most absolute favorite works written by the AMAZING, Emma Chase!! Each book is a treasure and who knew the story that had the swoon-worthiest of romances and a fairy tale like flair would be the matriarch’s, Queen Lenora’s love story. She has come across tough as nails and all business, but her heart was overflowing with love for her soul mate and the beautiful family they would be blessed with.

Lenny and Edward’s romance swept me off my feet and I loved getting lost in their world on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon. I really wouldn’t mind if this series went on for the unforeseeable future!!

REVIEW – FALL (VIP #3) by Kristen Callihan

SYNOPSIS

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.

In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.

Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.

Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything. All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

British Heroes are my favorite and to have that hero also be a hot rock god, well that’s just a special cherry on top of an already delicious cake! The VIP series is by far my most favorite series about a famous rock band. Kristen Callihan has been one of my idols for quite some time and it’s almost agonizing having to wait for one of her books to release. I knew going into this story, that it was not going to be as light-hearted as the past two books. Jax is a broken hero, whose suicide attempt nearly broke up the band for good. He battles inner demons almost on a daily basis and his self-loathing only fans the flames, but a fiery little redhead that he has a run in with over a carton of mint chocolate ice cream is about to turn his world upside down.

Stella was Jax’s true soul mate. They may have come from two completely different worlds but they were two halves of a whole. She was the one person in his life who didn’t blame or punish him for his debilitating depression. Jax had never had someone to truly lean on until he met Stella. And Stella found it easy to relate to him because not once in her life has she ever felt like she could love or be loved by anyone. She’s a vivacious woman who has many acquaintances due to her profession but not a single person who she can truly call a friend.

Be forewarned, there is some serious angst to deal with in this story and Jax will act like a complete idiot at times, but he’ll be hard not to fall in love with. I completely melted the moment he called Stella by the pet name, ”Button”. Those Brits sure know how to make a girl swoon!

REVIEW – LONG LIVE THE BEAUTIFUL HEARTS (Beautiful Hearts, #2) by Emma Scott

SYNOPSIS

Never again would I allow my heart to become the plaything of someone else.
Never again would I let a man (or men) come between me and my goals.
Never again would I love without feeling the fullness of that love in return.
Not until I knew it was real. And if that took me a lifetime to find, so be it.

Those were my vows, and after all that had happened with Connor and Weston, I was determined to keep them. To protect my heart.
And then he came home, and my vows became his promises.

He held my heart in his hands with reverence and care.
He helped me find my soul’s greatest purpose in life.
He loved me with a love so pure and vibrant, I knew I’d never feel anything like it in a hundred lifetimes.
It was real.

Until it wasn’t.
Until it all came crashing down when I discovered the deep love I thought I’d found was nestled in a web of lies—so soft and silken I hadn’t noticed it was there.
Until it was too late.

**********
Long Live the Beautiful Hearts is the emotional, heart-wrenching conclusion to the Beautiful Hearts Duet by bestselling author, Emma Scott, and is inspired by the classic tale, Cyrano de Bergerac. (Roxanne) THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL LOVE TRIANGLE #confusedhearts #notamenage

FIVE +++++EXTRAORDINARY STARS*****

In all my years reading, and reviewing I never found myself speechless, like I am now. How can I possibly find words that can explain or even do justice to such a powerful story? Nothing I say could, nothing anyone says ever, could explain the beauty that is this book. The Beautiful Hearts Duet is simply transcendent.

Emma Scott has always had the power to make the reader feel her words, she transports you to the heart of the story, it’s something almost unbelievable. With this book it was more than that, I felt like she was holding my beating heart in her hands, and I was holding hers.

When I was reading the first book of this duet, I thought for a minute there that it was a love triangle, but understood better, and I assure you, it is not. This story is about love, family, and friendship. It’s about accepting, and loving others and ourselves, for who we really are. It’s about learning to forgive and to think about ways to be of help to those around us. Reading this book makes me want to be courageous and strong like Weston, kind and sweet like Autumn, bright like Connor, and even cheerful like Ruby. Every character in this story has a trait that I want to mimic, and ultimately why I won’t be able to ever forget any of them.

I know this was not an easy book to write for Emma, and I can’t, and won’t be able to ever thank her enough for giving the world the gift, of what this book is. I live for beauty like this, inside this ugly world we all live in. And reading her words, feeling them, makes me want to be, and do better. THANK YOU! ❤ ❤

“She’s a miracle, actually. Every day with her is my best day.”

REVIEW – PLAYER by Staci Hart

SYNOPSIS

He’s a player.

He plays the bass with expert fingers. He plays women with intoxicating charm. And he’ll play me with the ease of a virtuoso.

Who better to teach me to play than the master himself?

I’m his model student, front row, pencil sharp. Pick up lines? I’ve got them. Free drinks? By the dozen. Kissing? Let me grab my chapstick.

But the most valuable lesson I’ve learned is that there’s so much I don’t know. Like why his touch sets off a chain reaction straight to my nethers. Or how I’m certain each kiss is the best I’ll ever have, until the moment his lips take mine again.

There’s so much I don’t know.

Like the fact that I’m only a bet.

But we are what we are. He’s a player, through and through.

And I’m the fool who fell in love with him

This was my ”try a new author” book and I was happy that the story ended up being pretty entertaining. PLAYER is another modern-day twist on the play, ”Pygmalion” . The Heroine, Val, is a sweet and socially awkward woman with a size 16 curvaceous body. Sam, is her secret crush and he’s the epitome of male perfection. Most of society would never imagine these two as a couple and that’s what made this story so endearing.

Sam and Val find themselves thrown together for a month under circumstances that I won’t elaborate on because I’m going to try to keep this review brief. Sam offers to help Val build her confidence and to give her tips on flirting with the opposite sex. Never does he try to change her appearance or her personality. Throughout the story, he tries to get her to see how he views her. To Sam, she is one of the most beautiful women he’s ever known, but years of bullying has shattered Val’s self-confidence.

She’s a goddess. She’s an angel. She’s liquid inspiration, and I want to drink every last drop of her.

CLOSE is a ”May/December romance” between a Hollywood A-List actress and a gorgeous Rock God. It’s a fun and decadently steamy read. I’ve come to expect nothing less from a Laurelin Paige book. She always brings the scorching hot steam in her stories!

Natalia Lowen is America’s Sweetheart and has been labeled “The Good Girl of Hollywood”. It’s a reputation that she has worked painstakingly hard to achieve over the past decade. She’s been burned by scandal before and her current reputation and status in Hollywood mean more than anything to her. When she goes out on a “girls night”, Natalia ends up burning up the dance floor with one of music industry’s hottest rock stars, Nick Ryder, who happens to be thirteen years younger than her. She’s not about to start something with Nick, knowing that the paparazzi would have a field day with that news. Her reputation would certainly be tarnished and she’d be labeled a ”Cougar”.

Natalia tries to fight her attraction to Nick, but fate keeps throwing the two together. Ultimately Natalia gives in to temptation but makes it clear that they could only be about ”no strings attached sex” and nothing more could ever become of them. But when one night is not nearly enough and they’re spending every free moment they can together, and going out on romantic dates, can it really be labeled ”casual”?

Will Natalia choose her precious reputation over love?

REVIEW – SUIT (44 Chapters, #4) by B.B. Easton

SYNOPSIS

Because BB Easton had so much fun writing her bestselling, award-winning memoir, 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN, she decided to give each of her four men his own steamy standalone. SUIT is Ken’s book—the hilarious, heartwarming tale of how BB finally got over her bad boy phase and found happily ever after with…gasp…a guy in a tie.

“Since when are you into guys in ties? You only like guys who look like they rob guys in ties. At gunpoint.”

It was true. By 2003, my type had been well-established. There might as well have been a giant sign on my heart that said, Good Guys Need Not Apply.

Which is exactly why I had to friend-zone Ken Easton. The man was a former football star, smelled like fresh laundry instead of stale cigarettes, and had more ties in his closet than tattoos on his knuckles. Pssh. BOR-ING.

But the more I got to know my hunky study buddy, the more questions I came away with. Questions like: Why doesn’t he date? Why does he avoid human touch? Why does he hate all things fun and wonderful?

The psychology student in me became obsessed with getting inside Ken’s head, while the spoiled brat in me became obsessed with getting inside his heart.

In 2003, I found the one thing I love more than bad boys…

A good challenge.

INFINITE STARS ************

(I apologize for the use of bad words in this review. I couldn’t help myself, B.B brings out the rebel in me)

By now I hope the whole world knows how deep my obsession for B.B Easton’s books run. Pretty fucking deep, I tell you. Why? Because her writing is powerful, poignant and personal.

I was a little nervous about reading Suit because first, I’m not one to fantasize about anybody’s husband (it’s just girl code), and second, because let’s be honest, stories about a husband and wife can be boring. But this book is anything BUT boring. Their story is tender yet wild, perfect yet flawed, passionate and heartbreaking. And with all the respect in the world toward Mrs. Easton, Ken is seriously, scorching hot! In my defense, I promise you, I was picturing my own hot, accountant husband while reading this book. So I didn’t feel like a complete inappropriate perv.

This book is about ”The One.”

BB met the one at a friend’s house, and didn’t even know it. They were friends for a while, and while she was out there getting her heart broken, Ken was always there. He was the quiet, shy guy, without any tattoos, and always wearing work out clothes. She thought of him as “Pajama Guy”.

One night at a party Ken shows up wearing a Suit sooooo well, that BB simply couldn’t help but notice him. But how? How can I guy who doesn’t drink, doesn’t like drugs, and doesn’t have any tattoos or body piercings can be so utterly hot? Well, turns out this man could set BB on fire like no other man ever did. Like people say it’s always the quiet ones…

The thing about this story is that it’s real. Ken wasn’t a rich CEO, with amazing romantic one liners. And BB wasn’t the confident heroine, with the amazing body and picture ready hair. They are two real, flawed, people who fell in love. And it was hard, beautiful, messy and everything else in between. Their story becomes yours, this book is written with so much heart that you can’t help but fall utterly in love with it.

This is the fourth installment in the series of 44 Chapters, About 4 Men , and if you asked me after reading every single one, which one was my favorite, I couldn’t possibly tell you, not even if you put a gun to my head. Each book owned my heart, took my breath, and my words away. With each book, I learned a little bit more about BB, and also about myself. This author has an amazing talent in which with her honesty, and her storytelling she reached deep inside my soul, and I will forever love her for it.

So don’t waste any more fucking time, go one click every single book in this series. To help you get to these amazing reads faster, I’ve added all the purchase links below, and I’ve also included a music playlist created by me, but also be sure to check out B.B Easton page on Spotify because she created music playlists to go with every book. *****Patty’s Review*****

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provied by Author}

As soon as Ken cursed and collapsed on top of me, I smiled even bigger than Julia Roberts trying not to cry in Hugh Grant’s bookstore. Because I wasn’t a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her anymore. I was a girl, lying under a manwho loved her more than she’d ever thought possible.

I had only read one of the books in the ”44 Chapters” series prior to SUIT, and I became an instant fangirl over B.B. Easton. I loved STAR so much that BB was instantly a top favorite for me. When Ken was introduced in the last book, I was really intrigued by him and I could sense an attraction building between him and BB. I really wasn’t expecting the story that unfolds in SUIT. I had a really hard time finding any reason to like Ken and the level of angst in this one was almost painful at times.

Ken was a complete robot throughout most of this book. I often wondered what B.B. saw in him other than his physical attractiveness. I just didn’t like that he was emotionally unavailable and that B.B. had to initiate almost everything with him. She comes off so needy in this one and she definitely owns it at times.

I’m so happy that, in the end, the story takes a turn which left me more than satisfied. Fans of the ”44 Chapters” series will absolutely enjoy this last installment. I only wish I could ask the author which parts were true and which were embellished for the pure entertainment value.

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 4
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 4.5
Steam: 4
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4
