REVIEW – FALL (VIP #3) by Kristen Callihan

SYNOPSIS

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.

In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.

Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.

Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

British Heroes are my favorite and to have that hero also be a hot rock god, well that’s just a special cherry on top of an already delicious cake! The VIP series is by far my most favorite series about a famous rock band. Kristen Callihan has been one of my idols for quite some time and it’s almost agonizing having to wait for one of her books to release. I knew going into this story, that it was not going to be as light-hearted as the past two books. Jax is a broken hero, whose suicide attempt nearly broke up the band for good. He battles inner demons almost on a daily basis and his self-loathing only fans the flames, but a fiery little redhead that he has a run in with over a carton of mint chocolate ice cream is about to turn his world upside down.

Stella was Jax’s true soul mate. They may have come from two completely different worlds but they were two halves of a whole. She was the one person in his life who didn’t blame or punish him for his debilitating depression. Jax had never had someone to truly lean on until he met Stella. And Stella found it easy to relate to him because not once in her life has she ever felt like she could love or be loved by anyone. She’s a vivacious woman who has many acquaintances due to her profession but not a single person who she can truly call a friend.

Be forewarned, there is some serious angst to deal with in this story and Jax will act like a complete idiot at times, but he’ll be hard not to fall in love with. I completely melted the moment he called Stella by the pet name, ”Button”. Those Brits sure know how to make a girl swoon!

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 4.5
Plot: 4
Angst: 4.5
Steam: 4.5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5
