SYNOPSIS
A STANDALONE second chance, enemies-to-lovers romance set in the cutthroat world of sports management.
They’re two sharks in a fish tank . . .
JARED
If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat…
The heart everyone assumes is frozen over.
Her anger is…arousing.
Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes, every time she grits her teeth, gets me…well, you know.
If I had a dollar for every time she’s put me in my place, I’d be an even richer man.
I’m a successful sports agent because I assume “no” means you’ll think about it.
I’m sure what you meant to say is “Coming right up.”
They say even rich men don’t always get what they want, but those men don’t know how to play the game. The trick is to keep them guessing.
Take Banner. She assumes she’s winning, but this game?
She doesn’t even know how to play.
BANNER
If I had a dollar for every time Jared Foster broke my heart, I’d have exactly one dollar.
One night. One epic fail. One dollar…and I’m out.
I’ve moved on.
I’ve found success in a field ruled by men.
Anything they can do, I have done better.
They can keep the field while I call the shots, blocking them when I have to.
And Jared has the nerve to think he gets a second chance?
Boy, please. Go sit down. Have several seats.
I’ll just be over here ignoring the man carved from my fantasies with a lust-tipped chisel.
Oh, I didn’t say the struggle wasn’t real.
But I’ve got that one dollar, and Jared won’t have me.
*****Dee’s Review*****
5 BIG BRIGHT Stars*****
Kennedy Ryan has become one of my favorite authors. I find myself always craving her stories, and never wanting to miss one of her books because her words always reach my heart. Block Shot is definitely another winner for me.
Banner and Jared were good friends during their last year of college. They both had a huge crush on each other, and when they finally acted on it, the timing was terrible, and the whole experience not only broke their friendship but it also marked who they would be in the future.
The animosity between them lasted almost a decade. They are both in the same business of representing athletes and work for rival firms.
Banner is a strong woman, beautiful, smart, but she has a lot of insecurities. Having to work on a male prominent business, she always makes herself work harder, to prove her worthiness as an agent, and she has succeeded. But when she’s around Jared she loses all control.
Jared never forgot about Banner. He’s made a career out of being an asshole and not showing his feelings, but when it comes to Banner, she is his weakness.
Life has unexpectedly thrown them back together, and it will not be an easy road for them to get back to what they once lost. They’ll both have to learn lessons, and it won’t be easy, but it definitely will be worth it; because those two are mighty hot together.
Kennedy Ryan always creates beautiful characters that are easy to understand and relate to. Banner being of Hispanic background, and a woman so honest to admit, and conquer her struggles, definitely resonated with me. She was a true star. Someone in who I can see myself. So many times, perhaps every day I struggle with my weight, or body image. I’m insecure about so many things, but reading about this character it reminds me that I’m not alone. I know we all go through that, trying to get comfortable in our own skin, fighting for a place in life, and it’s not easy. This author not only writes beautiful love stories, but she is also a huge inspiration and an example of female empowerment. That is always her message, her contribution to her readers; to love ourselves, to support one another, to fight for what we want and not limit ourselves. I’m also not mad that she can write incredibly sexy romances, that we all enjoy. *wink
I adored the first book in this series, and this second installment was simply FANTASTIC! I loved it!!!!!
Before I end this review I wanted to share my favorite quote in this book, one that not only inspires me but also I will never forget.
”Banner is completely mine and wholly her own. I love that about her.”
I mean, if you don’t see that as greatness, I truly don’t know what is. Amazing! I truly hope everyone reads this book.
