REVIEW – BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE by Vi Keeland

SYNOPSIS

A sexy new standalone from #1 New York Times bestselling author, Vi Keeland

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.
He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.
When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.
You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend–smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.
He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he’d done.
Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.
Only it turned out, the man I’d just told off wasn’t the right guy.
Oops. My mistake.
Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.
I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?
That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.
Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.
I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.
Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.
This was going to be interesting…

4.5 Hot For Teacher Stars!

Rachel Martin is a 25 yr. old woman who had a troubled childhood that she’s tried hard to put behind her. She lives in New York & works as a waitress/bartender at O’Leary’s Pub. She has great friends & is a graduate student at Brooklyn College. She’s a teaching assistant to help offset the price of her tuition at the music conservatory.

While at work one evening Rachel spots the jerk that recently did her best friend wrong. She proceeds to thoroughly tell him off & let him know exactly what she thinks of him. She later figures out she told off the wrong guy. Embarrassed she slips out the back thinking she’ll never see him again.

Rachel has a new TA assignment & has been reassigned to Professor West. She shows up on her first day to meet her new boss, and is stunned to see the gorgeous stranger from last night. She made a horrible first impression, and she hopes he won’t remember her from the bar. No such luck. From the cocky smirk he’s throwing her way, it’s clear Professor Caine West definitely remembers her.

Caine & Rachel both felt a connection from the moment they met. The closer they work together the harder it is to deny the chemistry between them. They try fighting their intense attraction & keep things professional, but their craving for one another is soon out of control and takes over. One touch and they are both done for. All self restraint is gone. They can no longer resist the strong pull between them & give in to their mutual desire.

-“You’re the most amazing woman I’ve ever met.”

-“Together. It just works. I felt it the first night we met.”

-A spark we could step on and try to extinguish or blow on to fan the flame.

Secrets are revealed & suddenly things get emotional between this couple. I really enjoyed this book & devoured it like I do any book by Vi Keeland. I love her writing & am always completely consumed by her beautiful stories!

”You’re that song, I don’t know any of the words, but the tune is so damn familiar.”

I understood what he meant. I’d felt a connection from the first time we met, too. I didn’t want to scare him, but whatever was between us had always felt bigger than me—bigger than us.

Readers be warned, Vi Keeland’s latest standalone will have your temperatures rising to dangerous levels because of the scorching hot steam that the two main characters generate whenever they are together! Get ready to be dazzled by the decadently handsome and dirty talking Caine West. This man is a sexy Professor with an insatiable libido and has sexual skills that rival that of Christian Grey’s!

Rachel Martin is a grad student who is studying for her masters in musical therapy at Brooklyn College. She works part time at a local bar to help pay for her tuition. Her best friend also works at the bar and one night after their shifts are over, her bestie’s ex, who turned out to be a douche since he conveniently forgot to mention that he was married, shows up at the bar and tries to make the moves on Rachel. She gives him a verbal lashing only to be mortified later on when her friend confirms that the guy she cursed out was not the ex-boyfriend. It seems that fate is playing a cruel trick on her because the next day she meets the Professor that she is to be a TA for and it’s none other than Mr. Hottie from the bar.

Caine West has lived quite an exciting life. He used to be the drummer in a famous boy band but a few years later they went their separate ways when the lead singer became addicted to drugs. Now at thirty-one he is one of the most despised and feared professors at Brooklyn College, known for his moodiness and zero tolerance for lateness. When Rachel appears in his class it is both a blessing and a curse for Caine. He can’t deny the insane attraction between them and for some strange reason, which he noted when they met at the bar, Rachel seems so familiar to him. But this new development is a problem for him because he does not get romantically involved with students or TA’s. He tried it once before and it ended terribly.

The chemistry between them is just too intense and Caine can’t get enough of Rachel’s fiery attitude. Waiting for these two to give in to their growing lust for each other was almost beyond agonizing for me. I found myself getting irritated with Caine every time he would lose control with Rachel but then quickly put on the brakes the next day. It was seriously maddening.

The story is told through alternating POVs which also included several chapters from Caine’s past which could end up destroying the couple’s chance at an HEA before they even get started.

Vi Keeland fans and those who have never read any of her books will absolutely enjoy BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE. Caine West will be responsible for melting quite a few hearts!
