This book was absolutely mind blowing, I mean, WOW!!!
You know that expression, hurts so good? That’s exactly how I felt about this puzzling story. Reading this book was almost like getting high, Suit took me on a powerful and delectable trip, now leaving me strung out and full of emotions.

Gabriella wakes up in a hospital after being in a terrible car accident. She was in an induced coma for a few days. Now she’s opened her eyes to face the physical pain of broken bones and a reality of having a husband and two kids, she can’t remember, no matter how hard she tries. Her husband Paxton is very handsome but his mood changes every five minutes, making Gabriella confused and afraid about the life that is waiting for her outside the hospital doors. Even though the doctor explained to her that it’s not unusual to have memory loss after suffering such a traumatic accident, she’s desperate to remember, because she can’t understand how she married such a beautiful monster.

Gabby comes back to a beautiful beach front house where she has everything a woman can wish for. She has two gorgeous daughters and a sexy husband and even though she can’t remember anything about her life, she seems to have done well for herself, except her husband acts as if he hates her.

Her husband Paxton is controlling and very cruel, but he makes her skin tingle with lust with just a smirk and grants her the most explosive orgasms. He gives her immense pleasure through pain and she can’t understand why her body enjoys something her brain can’t comprehend, but she’s become addicted to Paxton.

Gabby is not weak in any way. She stands up to Paxton and thrives in the punishments he gives her, making him crazy because he likes to dominate every aspect of their relationship. He craves control but this woman is not the submissive wife she once was; everything about her is different now. He’s going crazy with need for her. Gabby is turning his once systematic world into a decadent chaos.

Gabby’s mind still doesn’t remember anything about her marriage or children, but every time she goes to sleep she has dreams about her sister and her mother. Her memories are bittersweet events of a difficult childhood. But it seems that life has been buried deep, because not even her husband can give her any answers about her estranged family.

Gabriella and Paxton are the best and most loving parents to their little girls, and from the outside they seemed like the most perfect couple. But behind closed doors they battle with a love/hate relationship that has them both close to the edge of a very dangerous cliff, and scared that neither of them will be able to survive the fall.

16288928

I really loved hating, Paxton. One minute I wanted Gabby to kick him in the balls and the next I was so excited to see even the tiniest hope in his eyes, for a better future with her. This book is a total mind-fuck. It made me crazy and desperate with need to find the answers that would give me a clearer picture of what was going on. I must admit that this is my favorite type of reads, the ones where the author is constantly playing with my emotions, leaving me breathless and desperate for more… I’ll be counting down the days until I get the next book.

5 Live In The Moment Stars!
(BR with Dee)

12088206_160617567618048_2634445235925840158_n

Gabriella Pierce is a 25 yr. old woman living in Florida with her husband Paxton & her two girls. She lives a life that is not really her own. Controlled by a husband that views her as his property & play toy, everything about her life is decided for her. An accident will soon change everything. Gabriella wakes up from a coma with amnesia. She has a hot as hell husband & two children she doesn’t remember. She quickly learns she has a messed up marriage where her husband has all the control. Even though she doesn’t feel like she belongs, she tries her best to please him & make the most of her situation. She feels this undeniable attraction & pull towards Paxton & can’t help how her body reacts to his touch. For whatever reason, she didn’t want to be anywhere else, & began to feel safe in his arms.

12079090_160617614284710_8117694207333389808_n

-I was so confused. One second this guy was a threat, and the next he was intoxicating.

-Paxton told me what to do. I did it. Paxton told me to jump. I asked how high. Paxton made my decisions. I let him. Paxton owned my body. I was his slut.

-Paxton was the most difficult man on earth, and I was fascinated by him.

12115970_160617644284707_6938735709197437299_n

After the accident everything changed, & Paxton wants things to go back to how they were. He wants his robot, his yes girl, & this wasn’t the same Gabriella. She didn’t seem to fear him, or conform to his rules. He just didn’t know what to do with this new version of Gabriella. The way she responded to his touch drove him wild. This Gabriella without any memories couldn’t get enough of him & everything he did to her.

12115960_160617550951383_2489918584055945217_n

-Everything spun around me while erotic endorphins submerged my mind, body, and soul. The devil’s drug. Powerful. Exhilarating. Passionate. Potent. And addicting. Extremely addicting. I was hooked on Paxton.

-There was no way in hell that Paxton could deny this. This searing pull between us. My glitter danced in his heart. I knew it did.

12112102_160617580951380_4545984352795134867_n

Paxton was often this cruel, cold, detached man, but when he began showing glimpses of a softer side it hit Gabriella right in the heart. Slowly things became real between them, & Gabriella was breaking through Paxton’s hard shell & causing him to feel things he doesn’t want to feel. She begins to feel like she matters to him, & when she gets one of his beautiful smiles, she melts. This wasn’t your hearts and flowers kind of romance. This is one of those books where I couldn’t stand the guy at first & probably shouldn’t like him, but OMG I couldn’t get enough of the sexy, arrogant, controlling Paxton Pierce! He is absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I really don’t think any woman with a pulse could resist this man. He can be a total ass, but definitely has potential. ;)) His bark is worse than his bite, & when he was with his girls he was positively dreamy! This was such a fabulous book! It had me guessing throughout & we get a lot of mystery surrounding Gabriella & her twin Isabella. Can’t wait to see what happens next! 😀

-We had an agreement. This was never supposed to be this. Whatever this is between us.

-“You’re too busy trying to make me someone I don’t remember to enjoy what we have here.”

-There was something there. Something neither of us could deny. If Paxton didn’t feel what I felt when we touched, when we kissed, and when we made love, there was something seriously wrong with him. It was there. He had to feel it, too.

Review – Dirty Promises (Dirty Angels, #3) by Karina Halle

*****Mel’s Review*****

5 She Was Mine. Just Mine. Always Mine Stars!
(ARC provided by author)

16193945._SY540_

In Dirty Promises Javier & Luisa are on top as King & Queen of one of the most powerful cartels in Mexico, but it takes sacrifice & hard work to be the Patron. Javier has suffered so much loss as a result of his success, & he is now slowly unraveling. He is consumed by anger & guilt and wants others to suffer as he is. Unfortunately his pain is affecting his relationship with Luisa. Javier feels he needs to keep her at a distance for her own good. He thinks he has a black soul, & that he’s no good for Luisa anymore.

16208680

Luisa is hurt Javier is shutting her out, & just wants her husband back. It’s crushing her that he’s pushing her away & she is determined to get him to pay her attention again, even if it’s only his wrath she gets. Javier has done terrible things, but never made apologies for who he is. He is ruthless, intelligent, charming, brutal, & immoral, but with Luisa he can be tender & extremely loving. She misses the passion that has always been between them & wants her Javi to return to her.

16193946._SY540_

-After everything, he was still everything.

-When Javier was cruel he was brutal, but when he was tender, it was almost more disarming.

-He was a possessive man through and through and he needed to own me both body and soul.

-Javier was it. If anything went wrong, if it all went south, there wouldn’t be anyone else. I wanted him forever or I wanted nothing.

16208502

While Javier isn’t being himself & is distracted by the job, one of his men is jealous of him & wants everything he has. We get a lot of action & plenty of gore. If you can’t handle dark & twisted this may not be for you, but if you can then OMG what an amazing thrilling ride! This is one of those books that you have to forget your morals & immerse yourself into this different world of corruption & vengeance where everyone has a monster lurking inside dying to do bad things. Lol, the couple that tortures together stays together! ;))

16208503

-I love you, Luisa. Even when I thought I didn’t have it in me, I do. I love you.

-“You really are the woman for me, aren’t you? Have I ever told you that there’s nothing sexier than seeing bloodlust in your eyes?”

-I saw in her what I saw in myself, something dark and frightening and unstoppable.

15909840._SY540_

I first met Javier in On Every Street. I read all 7 books in this series in a row & each one was just as fabulous as the last. Had me on the edge of my seat & were full of excitement! At times I haven’t always liked Javier’s behavior, but I always felt a pull in my heart for him & all he has endured in his life. I’ve really enjoyed seeing how he’s evolved through the years & with each book I loved him even more! He is such a complex character. He will be so ruthless, but then so gentle, & oh his capacity to love. This man loves like he does everything else in life, giving 100%! I was so happy he finally found his queen. A strong woman that was worthy to stand beside him & accepts him as he is. They make an incredible team & are unstoppable together.

15916159

-“You’re my queen.”

-“My beautiful queen.”

-I couldn’t imagine life without him, couldn’t belong to anyone but him. My king, my king, my king.

REVIEW – Complicate Me (The Good Ol’ Boys, #1) by M. Robinson

*****Dee’s Review*****

***** FIVE STARS*****
(ARC kindly provided by author M. Robinson)

This book was simply stunning!!! The story is full of angst and so much beauty. Small town setting, friends to lovers romance and not an easy journey but a love so strong, that you’ll feel it in every part of your body.

16090680

Alexandra aka Half Pint, grew up amongst boys. She’s an only child but was never in need of sibling love, because these boys have always loved and protected her fiercely. Out of the four boys there is Lucas, he’s always had a special relationship with Alex; his brown eyed girl.

The story develops as they all grow up together; from climbing up on trees to, first school dances, puberty, etc…

Alex always wanted to be one of the boys. She had the attitude to fight anybody who wanted to treat her like a girl but when she starts to recognize the nature of her feelings for Lucas, she wants nothing more than for him to stop hanging around other girls and notice her.

Lucas is a total alpha male and gorgeous. He adores Alex. When he was young he struggled with his feelings for her, but he always thought of her as his. As they all grow up, everyone can see they have a really strong connection that goes beyond friendship.

When they become of an appropriate age, the boys still think of Alex as a little sister and they don’t want Lucas and his Casanova tendencies hurting Alex. Their parents want them to experience life before trying to change their friendship for a romance. As they say the heart wants what it wants and it’s hard for both Lucas and Alex to keep those feeling hidden. As time goes by, everything around them only becomes complicated.

15820210

The beauty of this story is how unpredictable it is. The level of angst will keep you at the edge of your seat and most likely you will devour this book in only one day. I loved the complexity of the characters and the intensity in the story. Also the realness of it all gripped my heart.

Another wonderful aspect are the friendships, and the family dynamics between all the characters.

This book will make you feel like you are in a beautiful summer romance; beach, friends and first kisses. Amazing!!!!!

15820211

I always love it when an author ventures outside of their genre, and succeeds. M. Robinson is known for Erotica and that she can write it well but I believe this is her best work yet.

REVIEW – “Only Trick” by Jewel E Ann

Only trick

Synopsis:

“Don’t Look Back in Anger”

In one night, I lost five years of my life. Here’s what I know …

I was homeless.

I’m a recovering drug addict.

My inked skin crawls from lustful eyes.

I have a serious aversion to women.

My gay partner is a home wrecker.

I own a gun and I’m a damn good shot.

I’m a makeup artist, but it’s an insult to my talent.

I’ve never wanted to possess anything except my Ducati … until I met Darby.

Now here’s what I know since that day in the ER when she pieced me back together … nothing—but a few random thoughts.

My new “friend” is distracting, clingy, and obsessed with acronyms, emojis, and phrases like “breakfast soul mates.”

I didn’t want to like her, but she crawled under my skin and swallowed me whole. Now we’re best friends and she’s my new addiction. I’d drink her from a shot glass, snort her up my nose, or inject her into my veins if I could. What I won’t do … is ever tell her that.

She doesn’t know me … I don’t know me. When those missing years come back, I think she will hate me … I think I will hate me.

My parents named me Patrick Roth, and this is my story.

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****FOUR STARS*****

Just feet away from my gate, I close my eyes and let the tears fall. It hurts so damn bad. I’ve fallen in love with my best friend and he can never love me back.

o trick

I’ve been dying to read this one after having seen the synopsis and reading a couple of my friend’s reviews on GR. At the same time I was also a little hesitant because there were some unfavorable reviews as well. What I should have learned by now is that we don’t always agree with everyone’s opinions. This story was so very entertaining and gave me many “feels” . It turned out to be so far from what I had expected. I will try not to give much away.

Darby Carmichael is a PA, who works in the ER of a Chicago Hospital. During one of her shifts she is presented with an outrageously gorgeous patient who is in need of some stitches. Trick Roth is every woman’s wet dream with his bad boy looks and attitude. Darby gets a little tongue tied and goofy in his presence. As luck would have it, they will meet each other again. Her hair stylist sets her up with an appointment with a makeup artist, who turns out to be Trick. He’s quite aloof and even a bit abrasive. Trick doesn’t particularly trust or even like women, but somehow these two keep running into each other and develop a close friendship.

I loved Darby in the beginning because she was so funny and a bit awkward with people as she never had a real friendship with anyone other than her Nana. She has a very tense and toxic relationship with her father, who is married to a wealthy socialite that is also a bitch to the extreme. Darby also hasn’t ever been in a serious relationship with a man. She has had many one night stands and sex only relationships, but has never felt the desire to connect with anyone. Until she meets Trick. Too bad she soon finds out that he is GAY.

Trick definitely had me swooning from the get go. I always love the guys who act like complete assholes in the beginning. It makes things so much more meaningful when you get underneath all the layers of bullshit they camouflage their true selves with.

The whole short term amnesia thing kind of didn’t work for me and the big reveal had me rolling my eyes and for this reason, the book couldn’t make it to a Five Star read for me. That being said, the angst at times had me so sick to my stomach and the yummy steamy scenes had me in need of a few cold showers. Those secret masturbation sessions of Darby’s were freakingHOT!!!!

I don’t know that this would be for everyone out there, but it definitely was a WINNER for me. I was very happy with how it all ended and I’ve never read any books by this author before, but I will definitely be checking out her other works.

*****PERFECT TEN STARS*****

February 2015 Review

Reading this series for the 4th time in preparation for the upcoming release of “Thoughtful”!!!!

13757890._SY540_

Most of my friends know this series is my #1 FAVE series of all time. Kellan Kyle is nothing less than PERFECT in my eyes. I have loved no other book boyfriend more than him. Some have come close, but none have been able to dethrone him.

This book is beyond angsty and I know that some think I am crazy to have read this 4 times. All I can say is that Kellan is worth all the heart break and suffering. I was supposed to BR this with my Bestie, but she has been so busy with work and the angst from this book was putting her over the edge, and so she bailed out. I completely understood. This is not an easy read.

The last time I read “Thoughtless”, I said that I understood Kiera. Yea, if I was in this situation, which God I wish I was, I would have fallen for Kellan instantly. BUT, I would have let Denny go right away. Even though he messed up by taking that job in Arizona, he still didn’t deserve the betrayal by Kiera and Kellan. Kellan definitely wasn’t an angel, but he’s my #1 and so I’m not even going to attempt to crucify him in my review.

 photo purpledivider_zpsb7749da3.jpg

This one was so unbelievably heart breaking because of how Kiera’s selfishness tore Kellan apart. The girl definitely wanted to have her cake and eat it too, and she did have it for quite a while.

There are so many things that I love about Kellan. He grew up, never knowing what it was like to be loved. All he ever received from his parents was abuse and contempt. Yet, as soon as he met Kiera, this man fell so deeply in love and did so many amazingly beautiful things for her. He was so desperately in love with her that he’d take what little she would give him. This might make him sound like a weak character, but the way S.C. Stephens depicted Kellan, it only made him so much more the swoonworthy book boyfriend!

 photo purpledivider_zpsb7749da3.jpg

“What if I don’t choose you, Kellan? What will you do?”

“I’ll leave, Kiera. I’ll leave, and you and Denny can have your happily ever after. You wouldn’t even need to tell him about me. Eventually, the two of you…..the two of you would get married, and have children, and have a great life.”

“And you? What happens to you in that scenario?”

“I…get by. And I miss you, every day,” he whispered.

I die a little every time I read that scene!! GAH!!

REVIEW – Grayson’s Vow by Mia Sheridan

Graysons Vow Cover

Synopsis:

Kira Dallaire is desperate.

Some challenges in life seem too hard to overcome. With little money, and even fewer options, the quick-witted and vibrant twenty-two-year-old needs to reinvent herself. Known for her generous heart and impulsive personality, she devises a survival plan, possibly her most outrageous idea yet.

Grayson Hawthorn is losing hope.

Some obstacles in life seem too hard to overcome. Betrayal definitely being one of them. With limited capital, and dwindling resources, he is attempting to resurrect his failing family vineyard, a self-imposed vow seemingly destined to fail. That is until a young woman enters his office with an outlandish, unexpected proposition impossible to refuse.

What begins as a temporary business arrangement, soon evolves into more as vivacious, spirited Kira challenges detached, arrogant Grayson to want more from life. To want more for himself. But as their wills clash and fiery passion ignites, they’ll realize that sometimes the past creates walls too difficult to climb, and that lies and deception rarely precede a happily every after.

As Kira and Grayson race toward their destiny, they will discover that some vows are meant to be broken, and others are worth risking everything for . . . even your very own heart.

*****Dee’s Review*****

****4 Sweet Stars*****

(ARC kindly provided by Author)

This is a beautiful story about two people tormented by their past and coming together by a deal that will prove to be more that they both bargained for. I loved Mia Sheridan’s writing style, and the beautiful setting of the California wine country made Grayson’s Vow a very special read.

16178947

Grayson Hawthorn just got out of jail after serving a five year sentence. His father died while his was in jail, and leaves Grayson the family vineyard in Napa Valley. He didn’t have a good relationship with his Dad, so Grayson has made a vow to make the vineyard successful, and prove to his dad and everyone else that he is more than the troubled man everybody thinks he is.

Grayson needs money to buy new equipment and hire more employees to help make this next harvest a profitable one, but his lack of finances and bad reputation doesn’t make him a good candidate for a bank loan. Little does he know, that a fiery redhead will come to the rescue and offer him a deal that will help him fulfill his goal. The redhead is Kira Dallaire, she too has a very troubled past and a terrible relationship with her father. Her sweet Grandmother left her an inheritance that she desperately needs but the papers say that she can’t take possession of the money until she gets married and that’s why she picked Grayson Hawthorn to be her fake husband.

“Marriage is much like wine. They both mature slowly and grow deeper and more complex with time”

Both Grayson and Kira have been burned by love in the past. So from the very beginning they both agree that their marriage is only business and that there’s no room for love or any type of intimacy. But these two have a lot more in common than they think, and their plans won’t go exactly as they hoped. That’s how the fairy tale of The Dragon and The Witch starts…

I loved everything about this story except one thing, the hero. Grayson was not your typical swoony male character. He was bitter and didn’t trust anyone, not even his own shadow. At the beginning and after learning about his past I understood his reasons. But then it took him way too long to finally be able to see and appreciate the great amount of love surrounding him, and by then I had completely disconnected with his character.

I adore Mia Sheridan books. Her writing to me is truly magical and I will always be a huge fan. I would definitely recommend this book to all of her fans because it has her signature romance stamp that we all love.

“There’s nothing on earth like the feel of someone who loves you grasping your hand in the dark when you are lost and afraid.”

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author In Exchange For An Honest Review}

“If you let it, pain makes more space for love within you. And the love we carry inside makes us strong when nothing else can.”

83818e3e359e37f97bef8bf110a62c96

I’m glad I took almost a couple of days to write this review. After thinking on it, I decided to give this a full four stars. I am a HUGE fan of Mia Sheridan. Having read all of her books except for one, I can honestly say that I have loved most of her books. This was the first one that didn’t win me over right away.Grayson’s Vow , has a fairy tale vibe to it. The constant references of the dragon and the witch, was off-putting to me. However the message that this story has to give is one that I find really beautiful and for this reason, I changed my mind on my rating.

Grayson Hawthorn and Kira Dallaire are two complete strangers, but with so much in common. They both lost their mother when they were young, although by very different circumstances. Their fathers are both wealthy and completely heartless. Grayson and Kira had pretty messed up childhoods. They never felt loved by the one person in their lives that should have showered them with love and affection.

So these two end up together when Kira overhears Grayson being turned down for a bank loan because he has a criminal record. He’s recently been released from prison and is trying to revive his family’s winery that was left to him when his father passed away. Kira is in deep financial trouble at the moment. She is penniless and refuses to live with her father who betrayed her several years back which caused her to have to leave the country for a while. She has a way to become financially independent. She must marry in order to be able to cash in on the inheritance her grandmother’s will has left her.

Kira goes to Grayson and tells him she can give him the money he needs to get his vineyard up and running again. She tells him they must marry and stay that way for a year. At first he’s skeptical and makes some pretty misguided assumptions about Kira. He’s very closed off and bitter. Life has been pretty cruel to him and he’s let it beat him down. Grayson doesn’t have many close relationships, but does have one night stands from time to time. He eventually agrees to the arrangement with Kira.

These two get off to a very rocky start. However as they get to spend more time together, feelings start to develop and maybe both have finally found in each other the love that they’ve craved for so long.

Kira is a very endearing heroine. She opens her heart up to those less fortunate. She could have turned bitter but remains forever the optimist. It’s very hard not to like this character and she definitely was my favorite along with Sugie Sug. Grayson was the polar opposite of Kira. It took quite a while for me to warm up to him. But I can’t say that if I had gone through the same things that he did, that I wouldn’t have turned into a bitter person as well. The moral of this story is pretty much summed up in that the quote I added at the beginning of my review. As the old saying goes – “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

She leaves home with just what she can fit in the trunk of her car. She is now homeless & desperate with little money & few options. She heads for the only place she’s ever felt peace. She returns to Napa Valley where she always spent summers at her Grams house.

She crosses paths with a breathtakingly handsome man named Grayson Hawthorn. Grayson owns Hawthorn Vineyard. Grayson is also in a bind financially & Kira suggests an arrangement that would be mutually beneficial to both of them. Grayson has vowed to keep his family’s winery running & restore it at any cost.

As Grayson & Kira spend time together neither are prepared for the feelings that begin developing between them. Grayson is cold & withdrawn & closed off emotionally, but Kira makes him feel again & stirs emotions in him he didn’t think he could feel anymore.

“I never stop thinking about you. For years, my thoughts don’t have any room that doesn’t include you. You’re everywhere.”

Absolutely LOVED this one HARD!!!!

7d84479e684b987a69682405bdeb1c13

Going into this book, I was convinced I couldn’t possibly love this more than Kaleidoscope Hearts. That my heart couldn’t be swayed from Oliver. I was dead WRONG!! Jensen Reynolds completely swept me off my feet!! He made this book a FIVE STAR read for me. I was completely enamored with his beautiful words!! Claire Contreras has just now been added to my Favorite Authors shelf and I know that I must read some of her other works ASAP!!

In “Torn Hearts” we get a brief glimpse into Jensen and Mia’s past. We also learned what happened to tear them apart. If you haven’t read the novella, you actually can skip it, since it’s included in the beginning of “Paper Hearts”.

Five years after their break up, Mia finds herself in NYC. She’s landed a two month gig with Newsweek, as the photographer for a story about “Second Chances”. As luck would have it, Jensen also works for the magazine as a free lance writer and happens to be one of the writers on the same project as Mia. Mia is determined not to fall back into Jensen’s arms. But Jensen is willing to do anything and everything to make Mia his once again.

One of my favorite tropes, is second chance romances, and this was not only that, but filled with so much angst, I felt my heart was being twisted and tortured. I blame Mia for most of the angst. I understood why she was hurt and I get she was afraid to trust in Jensen again, but God Damn, I know if I were in her shoes, I would have run willingly into his arms! But if Mia had gone my route, this would have been an entirely different story and over way too soon!!

I ADORED Jensen!! He loved Mia to damn near obsession. We get his voice in the beginning of most of the chapters through excerpts from his blogs which are published in a newspaper. Every blog entry is like an open love letter to Mia, his Life Sweetheart. Jensen has never gotten over Mia and even though five years have gone by, his love has only grown stronger for her. His sole purpose is to get his girl back and to never let his little road runner run away from him again. I’m a total sucker for any book boyfriend who would cut up tiny pieces of paper hearts and write little love notes on them for his lady.

I am just in love with Claire Contreras writing. I nearly highlighted the entire book and there were a few moments towards the end where I even shed a few tears!! Oliver, Elle, and the entire gang from the first book are back in this one as well. It was like coming back home and getting to spend some time with some good friends. They brought a lot of humor into the story and I just loved how they were so supportive as well.

To anyone out there who hasn’t picked up this series, you need to make it a priority to get to it!! You will lose your hearts to these amazing book boyfriends! I do believe that I am leaning towards Jensen as my favorite for now.

*****4.5 Jensen Stars******

(BR with Patty and Mel)

Paper Hearts has been all about Jensen for me. The more I read, the more my love for this character grew, to the point where I kept asking my husband (not in a happy tone); Why don’t you write me love notes? Why aren’t you more romantic? Mind you, I have been married for twelve years and my hubby is a dear and treats me like a princess. So after a few days of me glaring at him and serving him cold meals for no reason, I realized that no man can ever come close to the perfection that is Jensen.

Claire Contreras created a beautiful story that was tender and incredibly romantic and I find myself feeling nostalgic about the way that it made me feel, even though it’s only been mere hours since I finished reading.

PH

To fully enjoy this book you must read Torn Hearts first. In that novella we get a little bit of the back story between Mia and Jensen. They met when they were young and were each other’s first love. When they both go to college and to different schools they decide to break up, but remain close until something big happens and changes everything between them.

Five years later Mia and Jensen find themselves living in the same city and working for the same magazine. Seeing one another feels painful yet exhilarating and being together comes natural to them, because they were best friends before lovers. Does this mean there’s still hope for them? Will they see this as a second chance, or will they finally get closure and move on?

Mia thought her heart had healed. She’s been with other guys and is completely focused on her career as a photographer but seeing Jensen messes with everything inside her. She misses his touch, his words, his soul. The battle inside her is constant. Just when she thinks she can deal with the consequences the past caused to their future, she gets scared and runs away from him. But the beauty of the story is that Jensen will chase after her, every time she runs. Jensen is determined to get his girl back. He’s owned his mistakes and has learned from them and is now ready to offer Mia, everything…

PH1

I was completely mesmerized by this story. Never before did I want to call on the book fairies and pray for a spell to get inside a story so badly. Every character, every word I felt deeply. My obsession with Jensen was so big that I kind of disliked Mia a little bit, if I’m being honest. She was so hard on him at times, and I get her reasons but I just wanted to yell at her to give him a break. He was so sweet and romantic and always looking for new ways to show her how big his love was for her and she really didn’t do much to win him back, even though she messed up too. This animosity I have towards Mia could also be because I fee like she didn’t deserve him and because I want him for myself and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Okay, enough about my crazy obsession with Jensen and just do yourself a favor and go pick up this book, everyone needs Paper Hearts in their home library.

REVIEW – Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre

819UptXoWgL

SYNOPSIS:

Cole Masten. Abandoned by his superstar wife, Hollywood’s Perfect Husband is now Hollywood’s Sexiest Bachelor: partying hard and screwing even harder. Watch out Los Angeles, there’s a new bad boy in town.

Summer Jenkins. That’s me, a small town girl stuck in Quincy, Georgia. I cook some mean chicken and dumplins, can bluff a grown man out of his savings in poker, and was voted Most Friendly my senior year.

We were from different worlds. Our lives shouldn’t have collided. But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him.

From the start, I knew he was trouble. For our town. And for me.

Sometimes, opposites just aren’t meant to attract.

I could hate this man, curse him to hell, but there had never been a question on this earth that the man was beautiful, this his body was sin, that his sexuality was addicting.

SUPERB!!!!

I have read several of Alessandra Torre’s books previously but this one is hands down my FAVORITE!! It was such an unexpected treat!! Her stories are usually erotic with some dark undertones. This was the kind of story I crave. It was funny, with just the perfect amount of angst and sultry steam!! I lost my heart to the Hero and even fell in love with the heroine as well. Don’t even get me started on that crazy little rooster!!

Summer Jenkins is a young woman who lives in a small town in Georgia, called Quincy. It has a total population of 7000, and is best known for being home to 45 millionaires and 3 billionaires. Their fortune gained by purchasing some valuable Coca-Cola stock back in the 1930s. She lives with her mother and keeps a low profile. She isn’t exactly the town’s most favorite person due to something she did a few years prior. Summer’s dream is to be able to move out of Quincy and start her life over in a place where no one knows about her past.

Cole Masten is Hollywood’s hottest actor at the moment. He’s a three time Academy Award Winner and also one of the most beautiful men in the business. He’s recently had his personal life turned upside down and is heading to Quincy to start production on a movie he is funding. The story will be based on a novel about the group of millionaires of Quincy and how they made their fortune.

I will say that once these two meet, the chemistry is electric, and the book became unputdownable for me!! They are definitely attracted to one another but Cole puts his foot in his mouth and gets on Summer’s bad side right from the start. He sees something in Summer that convinces him that she must be the leading lady in his movie and gets her to agree to take on the role.

The animosity that builds between them only guarantees that when these two finally get together, the sex is going to be explosive. It’s a slow build to get to the steam but for me it only made it that much more gratifying when it finally happened. You will not be disappointed ladies!! Believe me!!!

I actually love when the hero and heroine can’t seem to stand the sight of each other. You just know that you’re in for a treat when they finally let their guard down, and that the sex is going to be panty melting good!!

It doesn’t happen often that I actually end up loving both main characters in a story, but Cole had me swooning and owned my heart the moment he starts to care for Cocky. I don’t want to say much about that. You all will see once you pick up this book!! Summer was a spitfire and yet had an endearing vulnerability to her as well. I loved how she held on to her Southern traditions and could go toe to toe with Cole whenever they had a clash of opinions, which happened quite often!!

This is a MUST READ!! Go on and one click! You all need to meet Cole, Summer, and Cocky!!! And you’ll get a treat because there is a character from another one of Alessandra Torre’s series that is in this book quite a bit.

4.5 “I See You” Stars!
(ARC provided by author)
(BR with Patty & Dee)

Summer Jenkins is a woman living with her mother in Quincy, Georgia. Quincy is a small sleepy town known for old wealth. Back when Coca Cola went big, it made many in the town millionaires. It’s filled with beautiful plantation homes, pecan trees, & southern charm. Summer is the Quincy outcast, & mostly keeps to herself until a Hollywood scout comes to town to get things set up for a movie that will be filmed there. Summer offers to help with the film hoping she can earn some money to eventually get out of Quincy.

16112700

Cole Masten is a huge Hollywood movie star. He’s bankrolling the whole production. He’s known as one of the most beautiful men to grace Hollywood. When his personal life blows up in his face, Cole needs to get away from everything. His movie will be the perfect distraction from his problems. He leaves Los Angeles for Quincy. As he arrives in Quincy he also realizes he’s left behind the luxury & privileged Hollywood lifestyle. Quincy is simplicity & runs at a slower pace than Cole is used to, so he has to make some adjustments to his norm.

16112701._SY540_

When Summer meets Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, the real Cole Masten ruins every fantasy she had of him. He’s just an arrogant, self absorbed pretty boy. She doesn’t treat him like he’s anything special, although secretly she can’t help but notice how beautiful he is. She finds him extremely attractive, but when he opens his mouth he always seems to push all her buttons. We get a love/hate relationship that eventually ignites. When they finally give in to their lust for one another, neither can get enough!

16124618

-“I am addicted to you.”

-It was, in that moment, enough. Having Cole Masten addicted to me was enough.

16124231._SY540_

As they spend more time together they really get to know each other. They come from different worlds, but they just work. Summer starts to see the real Cole under it all, & Cole starts to really look at himself through Summer’s eyes, and want to change for the better. When they both let their walls down & show their true feelings it’s amazing! I thought Cole became quite swoon worthy & I just adored him with his pet rooster! So sweet! Also I must mention Brad DeLuca. Holy hell is that man hot!!! I haven’t read his series yet, but will be getting on that soon! I really loved this book! Alessandra Torre delivers another fabulous, sexy read! 😀

  4.5 Charming Stars

(ARC kindly provided by author)

(BR with Patty and Mel)

Another wonderful book by Alessandra Torre!! She always brings us something hot, romantic and very unique. I love, how she always tries different things and every time provides us with a wonderful story that will play with our senses. Hollywood Dirt was so unexpectedly charming and completely entertaining, a total winner!!!!

16118320

Hollywood is coming to Quincy, Georgia. Hometown to Summer Jenkins, an all southern girl who carries a shame from the past. Even though it’s been three years since the event that change her life happened, people still whisper about it, behind her back. Summer is ready for a change, she wants out of Quincy and this movie as it turns out will be her meal ticket into a new future.

Cole Masten is a gorgeous and successful movie star. He’s the one footing the bill to produce the movie. After a bad break-up and a nasty impending divorce his lawyer advises him to leave Hollywood behind and just go to Quincy and submerse himself into the production of the movie. No sex, no bad habits, just work, are the instructions he must follow if he wants a shot at keeping his movie and not having to share it with his ex.

Cole and Summer get off on the wrong foot from the beginning, she’s been helping around with the movie but as soon as Cole meets her, he offers her the role of a lifetime and expects her to roll over and simply agree to anything he says, but with her he has another thing coming. Summer knows how life-changing this opportunity is, but she’s stubborn and smart and if she agrees, it will be on her own terms and no charming and gorgeous movie star (Cole Masten) will change that.

I have a deep fascination for all things southern so immediately the charm of the story got my attention. The characters and their interactions were so unique and funny I seriously couldn’t get enough. With a pitcher of sweet tea next to me, I enjoyed every word of this wonderful novel that proves once again, that Alessandra Torre can write just about anything and does it well. It’s been a couple of days since I read this book and I’m still thinking about it. I just loved it so much!!!

Hollywood Dirt is a standalone novel.

The author created an amazing playlist that can be found on Spotify, but I wanted to share a few wonderful tunes from it on this review.

REVIEW – Sustained (The Legal Briefs, #2) by Emma Chase

*****FOUR STARS*****

Something inside me crumbles, under the weight of all the things I want. I want her–this fearless, stunning woman. And I want the kids. Those perfect, awful, amazing children–whom she loves with every inch of her soul. I want them to be mine. Mine to hold, mine to protect and teach. Their joy, their laughter, their love. I want to come home to it, bask in it, be the reason for it. But even more than that, I want to deserve them.

Emma Chase has another hit series on her hands!! I absolutely LOVED the “Tangled” series and this one got off to a fabulous start with Overruled. I know some people had issues with book one but that one knocked my socks off!!

We met Jake Becker in book one. He was Stanton’s roommate and co-worker at the same law firm. Jake is a bonafide ladies man. He doesn’t date. He only has casual sex and usually it’s never more than two times with the same woman. Once the sex is over with, he can’t get away fast enough from the women that he brings home. Until he gets the scare of his life from one of his one night stands. He realizes that casual sex is like playing Russian Roulette, and that maybe he needs to start dating and being a little more particular about who he picks for sexual partners.

Chelsea McQuaid is a young woman who finds herself suddenly the sole guardian of her six young nieces and nephews. Her brother and sister-in-law were recently killed in a fatal car accident. One of her nephews, Rory, is acting out and becoming a bit of a juvenile delinquent. He tries unsuccessfully to pick pocket Jake. When Jake sees a bit of himself in the kid, he decides not to press charges but to bring him home to his parents. Instead he comes face to face with Chelsea and he is instantly attracted to her.

So you can pretty much guess he is going to form a bond with all the children and vice versa. That there will be many cute moments between Jake and the kids. One of my faves, was when he sings a One Direction song to young Rosaleen to help her sleep. Also I swooned a bit during the scenes between Jake and his mentor, Judge Atticus Faulkner, who is suffering from advanced Alzheimers. Yes, Jake was pretty perfect for most of the story.

I think I didn’t fall madly in love with this one because of the heroine. I didn’t hate her at all. She just wasn’t that special in my opinion. She seemed to be a very dull character. I didn’t feel like she was really into Jake or had any fire within her until I got to about the 75% mark in the story. Then I was thinking this book might turn out to be a five star read after all. But, then she went back to being a bit flat for me again. This lady needed a little more spunk. I didn’t think she was good enough for Jake.

The story ends perfectly for our couple and for some familiar friends from book one! I also loved that we get the prologue and first chapter of Appealed, Brent’s story, at the end of this book. I am so very anxious to get to Brent. I have a feeling it’s going to be amazing!!!

REVIEW – TYRANT (King, #2) by T.M. Frazier

****4.5 Thunderous Stars*****

(Arc Kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review)

Whether it’s a King or a Tyrant, T.M Frazier once again rules. This book was every bit as explosive and passionate as expected by all of us fans of the dark and beautiful romance, created by the pen of this talented author.

TYRANT 1

Tyrant starts right where the last book ended. King was betrayed and the pain of the reality of making such a detrimental mistake, will fuel his fury and thirst for vengeance. Nobody can be trusted, nothing is what it seems. Only one thing is certain, and that is the love and devotion King and Doe have for each other. No matter how hard, how far, or how much pain these two have to go through, their love will be the only key to survival.

Doe is thrown back in a world that is supposed to feel familiar to her, her home, her family but everything about her past feels wrong. She struggles trying to connect the dots between the girl she once was, and the woman she has become. Everyday she’s without King means pain and anger and the uncertainty of her future is not helping her situation at all. I loved that Doe remained strong, even when weakness was imminent, she kept going and never lost her faith in the love King had promised her.

TYRANT 2

This book comes packed with so much angst and so many twists; from the very first chapter Tyrant will swallow you whole. You’ll be transported to a world where Brantley King makes his own rules and anybody standing in his way, will pay a high and bloody price. There were so many surprises and excitement in the plot, so expect your jaw to hit the floor more than once while reading this novel. Definitely expect King to own not only your heart but every single one of your emotions.

TYRANT 3

Ultimately my favorite part of the book was the beautiful epilogue but keep in mind, that is a very T.M Frazier style ending, unique and unexpected. She loves to play with our emotions until the very end of the story. Reading both books of this duet was such an exhilarating experience. I guarantee that this book will be a hit with anybody looking for a dark, romantic thriller.
