REVIEW – TWIST (Dive Bar, #2) by Kylie Scott

SYNOPSIS

When his younger brother loses interest in online dating, hot, bearded, bartender extraordinaire, Joe Collins, only intends to log into his account and shut it down. Until he reads about her.

Alex Parks is funny, friendly, and pretty much everything he’s been looking for in a woman. And in no time at all they’re emailing up a storm, telling each other their deepest darkest secrets… apart from the one that really matters.

And when it comes to love, serving it straight up works better than with a twist.

*****Mel’s Review*****

5 Stars!

Alexandra Parks is a 29 yr. old graphic designer from Seattle. She’s sort of been a hermit for years. She never puts herself out there or takes chances romantically. She avoids intimacy & prefers her life uncomplicated. She doesn’t do relationships, but she’s been talking to a gorgeous man on the internet named Eric Collins. She’s crushing on him hard & they seem to share a strong connection. They’ve been talking for months through emails. Even though Alex is somewhat terrified of the outside world, she decides to step out of her comfort zone to meet him. Eric is beginning to mean something to her, and she just has to see him in person. She decides to be spontaneous, & buys a ticket to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She plans to show up at his birthday party and surprise him. When Alex shows up to meet the hot guy she’s been emailing, she soon learns he has no clue who she is.

Joe Collins set up an account for his younger brother Eric on a dating site. When his brother loses interest & decides he doesn’t want the account anymore Joe tells him he will shut it down for him. Then he spots Alex Parks, & they begin talking. She’s funny & beautiful, and he immediately gets sucked in. He looks forward to talking to her, & it’s often the highlight of his day. When Alex shows up in the Dive Bar where he bartends, the jig is up, & his big secret is revealed.

Joe wants Alex to stay in Idaho for a few days & figure out what’s between them. They shared chemistry online, & he just wants the chance to get to know her in person, even if it’s just as friends. He liked talking to her & has grown to care about her.

Alex is shocked that the man she thought she was talking to is someone else. Instead of Eric, it’s a huge, blond, Bigfoot lumber sexual with a beard and tattoos. He’s totally not her type, even though her libido hasn’t got the memo yet. Clearly the guy is hot, with his big muscles & long golden mane, but she’s more into pretty boys wearing a suit & tie.

Joe convinces her to stay a few days & spend some time together since she’s already there. She’s extremely attracted to his body, & his kindness also gets to her. He’s so sweet & eventually her walls all crumble, and they give in to their lust for one another.

Alex’s plans of not wanting to get involved with anyone go right out the window as she falls for Joe. Being with him is so easy & they just click, until circumstances have Joe pulling away. Just as Alex begins opening herself up to the possibility of more, things get complicated between them. Then there’s the fact they live in different states. Will love conquer all?

I loved this book & adore this series! Joe Collins is a sinfully sexy bearded hottie with a heart of gold. This man is so gentle & swoon worthy. I fell hard for him from the start. Can’t wait for Eric’s book up next!

-This man was so beautiful.

-The man affected me in all the ways.

-He had a rather spectacular body.

-In bed, there was an edge to Joe that worked for me like crazy.

-The man had me mesmerized. I couldn’t have looked away from him if I’d tried.

-Joe Collins had my heart whether he wanted it or not.

REVIEW – HATE 2 LOVERS (2 Lovers, #2) by K. Webster & J.D. Hollyfield

SYNOPSIS

***This is book two in the series. It is best if you read book one first to fully understand this couple’s story.***

She hates him and his big head.
He likes her and her big t*ts.

She hates him because she somehow ends up naked every time she sees him.
He likes her because she somehow ends up naked every time he sees her.

She hates him because the big oaf knocked her up with his kid.
He likes her because she’s carrying his child.

She hates the way he gets inside her head.
He likes the way she lets him see glimpses of her heart.

Andie: I hate you.
Roman: I know…but I’m going to change that.

*****Dee’s Review*****

4.5 Crazy-Fun Stars*****

You can tell these two authors are having a blast writing together because it definitely translated into the story. Never a dull moment between Andie and Roman, these two crazy characters fight hard, but loved even harder. And I simply loved this book!!!

We know from reading the first book that Andie and Roman had been having delicious hate sex on the regular, and that now Andie is pregnant. These two love to hate each other, so imagine the chaos when they find out they are having a baby together. On top of all the confusion, Andie’s already crazy personality becomes over the top, thanks to the pregnancy hormones.

As much as these two want to try to deny it, they really, really do like each other. Roman being slightly saner than Andie, is now determined to show her how good they can be together. Roman is scared but also excited about having a family with Andie. But it will definitely be a challenge to get Andie on board with his idea.

I must admit that at the beginning of the of the story I was a bit turned off by Andie’s crazy behavior, but after learning her reasons for acting in such ways my heart softened for her.

The whole gang from the previous book is back, complementing this story even more, and making this series a favorite of mine. Tons of laughs and fantastic writing style made this book a total winner.

*****4.5 STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Authors}

We’re two stars on a collision course for each other. There is no orbiting around one another like some sweet love story. Our story is different. Our story is explosive. Our story is chaotic. Our story is my favorite.

This series is funny, steamy, and utterly addictive! Each book is about a different couple but they all make up one crazy and wonderful family, so there is no way you cannot read this series in its entirety! I knew from the wildly hysterical scenes between Roman and Andie in book one, that this book was going to possibly become my favorite in the 2 Lovers series and I was not disappointed in the least. This couple’s relationship is extremely volatile but their sexual chemistry is off the charts HAWT, which made this one hell of a fun and unputdownable read for me! I hope that K. Webster and J.D. Hollyfield will continue to work on projects together for many years to come.

Andie has just dropped a major bomb on Roman by blurting out that she’s pregnant. Up until that moment, their relationship had been strictly sexual – this being more of Andie’s doing than Roman. Andie is a spitfire and as prickly as a porcupine. She’s not an easy woman to love because of the impenetrable wall she’s built to protect her heart. Her father abandoned Andie and her mother when they needed him the most and for years he made no attempt to reach out to them. When her mother died, Andie vowed that she would never give her trust and heart to a man, like her mother had. She saw the devastation that her father caused and does not want history to repeat itself. This pregnancy is not something she ever dreamed of for her future but slowly the promise of a happily ever after is starting to become something Andie hopes for.

Roman is EVERYTHING in this book! This man was absolutely PERFECT for Andie. He was sweet, patient and oh so very sexy. His only mission in life seemed to be to make Andie happy. Roman knew exactly how to handle her crazy mood swings because he realized that deep down, she loved him as much as he loved her and that her abrasive personality was just a protective mechanism. I ate up every moment that this man graced the pages of this book. He honestly could do no wrong in my eyes. I adored how hard he fought to win Andie’s heart and how it was effortless for him to make her his number one priority over everything else in his life. Not only was he extremely sexy but he was the one who brought upon most of the comic relief and a man who is inherently funny is beyond swoon worthy in my opinion!

HATE 2 LOVERS is currently available! Make sure you bump this up your TBRs! You must read the first book if you haven’t done so already, you’ll want to find out how Andie and Roman first meet!

REVIEW – THE GRAVITY OF US (Elements #4) by Brittainy C. Cherry

SYNOPSIS

Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

5 Maktub Stars!
(BR with Dee)

-“Air above me, earth below me, fire within me, water surround me, spirit becomes me.”

Lucy Palmer is a 26 year old woman from Wisconsin, who was deeply affected by the loss of her mother a few years ago. She has two sisters but is only close with one of them. She is the free spirit of the three of them. Always the one to be strong for everyone, but also the one that feels everything. She’s gentle, passionate, and lives life to the fullest.

Graham Russell is a well-accomplished author who writes horror & thrillers. He’s closed off & driven by his career. He doesn’t get emotionally involved or attached to anyone. He was hurt so badly in his past he shut off his feelings. He lacked people skills, & believes everyone eventually leaves anyway, so why let anyone get too close.

Lucy & Graham are complete opposites who unexpectedly cross paths & begin sharing moments. Over time their lives are connected & intertwined. As they spend time together, Lucy begins to affect his frozen heart. He was cold & shut down, and she was loving, open, and full of warmth & emotion. Graham finds himself wanting to be more like Lucy. Her joy is contagious. She’s goodness & sunshine, and he can’t help falling for her. As his feelings continue to grow, he lets her into his heart. She teaches him how to feel again, & trust in another person.

-She was the girl who felt everything, and I was the man who felt nothing at all.

-She was always smiling. She had a smile that reminded me of my past, a beautiful smile filled with hope.

-She wore her heart on her sleeve, and I kept my heart wrapped in steel chains deep within my soul.

-The beautiful girl who felt everything. Her emotions weren’t what made her weak. They were her strength.

-I wanted to know what it meant to be a part of her world. To be a man who felt everything. I wanted to hold her, but still have her move freely in my arms. I wanted to taste her lips and breathe in a part of her soul as I gave her a glimpse of mine.

What happens when you meet your soulmate at the wrong time in life? Two people who were destined for one another, but it seems the world deemed them a mistake. An accident not meant to be. Graham isn’t supposed to be Lucy’s to love, but she can’t help what she feels for this complicated, tragically beautiful man. Lucy is off limits to Graham, but she’s the only one he craves and needs like his next breath.

I absolutely adored this book! Brittainy Cherry’s words touch my heart like no other. She writes unforgettable, unique stories that stay with you and make you feel. I love this series so much!

-“Being around you does something strange to me, something that hasn’t happened in such a long time.”

-“What happens?”

-“My heart begins to beat again.”

-We weren’t supposed to feel this way. We weren’t supposed to fall for one another, she and I. Yet it seemed gravity had a way of pulling us closer.

-“You were the first and only thing that ever made my heartbeats come to life.”

-Being beside him always felt right to me. Like home.

FIVE BILLION STARS *****
(BR with Mel <3)

There’s not enough beautiful words in the dictionary that could describe this book. Graham and Lucy took me hostage into their vibrant world, where love was able to give color and hope, even to the darkest of hearts. This story made me forget where I was, who I was, and what I was doing; I was only feeling, so many emotions flowing through me at once, I was helpless to the amazing words of this author. The Gravity Of Us is an unforgettable novel that will live on for years in the hearts of its readers. This book has such a meaningful and beautiful message that it could inspire a powerful song, make a wonderful movie, or even be an uplifting poem that can help anyone get through hard times. This book is everything, an absolute must read!!!

Lucy and Graham are absolute opposites, where she is light, he is dark, she wears her heart on her sleeve, but he’s taught himself not to feel.

Lucy’s mission has been to keep her family together after her mom passed away. Lucy has two sisters whom she adores, even if they sometimes make it hard to love them. Lucy is always looking for the bright side, even in the worst of situations, and she’s been through enough of those, but she’s always ready to face the hard times with a smile. And funny enough, it’s when Graham is going through a really hard time in his life that he meets Lucy.

As much as Graham needs Lucy, AKA “annoying hippie chick” he tries and actually pushes her away a few times. But every time he calls for her, she’s there. Lucy’s heart is so warm that she ends up thawing Graham’s. These two start to form a bond that you just know, right away that will last forever. They learn so much from, and with each other, and the beauty of their relationship is blinding, yet you can’t look away.

If you ever meet author Brittainy Cherry you’ll notice how she glows, her beauty and her heart shine so brightly so it’s no wonder why you can see that glow shimmering through her stories as well. I’ve read a lot of her books, and they always blow me away. And just like the rest of her stories, The Gravity Of Us has so much heart and soul inside its pages, and anyone who reads this book will bask in the beauty of this amazing story.

*****FIVE BAZILLION STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Right after we soared to our highest heights, we descended and crashed to our lowest lows—but not before his air became my breaths, not before his earth became my ground. His flames were my fire, his thirst was my water, and his spirit?

His spirit became my soul.
Then, we prepared ourselves for goodbye.

If you’re looking for perfection, this book right here is it!!!

After having read several of Brittainy Cherry’s books, I am convinced that she is currently one of the greatest writers out there! Her words come together to create some of the most heart-achingly beautiful characters and stories. I am not even sure that I could come up with a review worthy enough to express just how much this story affected me! All I can say is that this might possibly be my favorite installment in the Elements series. The author truly saved the best for last. I doubt anyone who picks up this book will not fall madly in love with the utter beauty that lays within these pages.

Lucy Palmer is the youngest of three sisters and out of the three, she is the one who is most like their mother. Her mom was a free spirit, always on the move and nearly broke for most of their lives. She never gave her daughters financial stability but she more than made up for it with her unequivocal love that she had for them. Before her mother dies, she asks Lucy to take care of her sisters because she knew out of the three sisters, Lucy was the one with the biggest heart which had the capacity to love deeper than her two siblings. Their mother’s death strengthens the bond between Lucy and her sister, Mari but, their oldest sister, Lyric, ends up walking out on her family to build a life for herself.

Years later Lyric comes back into Lucy’s life but it’s not under the best of circumstances. Lyric, ‘aka’ Jane, is now a lawyer and married to a very successful but abrasive best-selling author of horror. She’s just given birth to a baby girl, who is almost three months premature. In a state of panic and because Jane does not have a maternal bone in her body, she ends up abandoning her husband and child without a backward glance. And Lucy, being the beautiful person that she is, comes to the aid of her sister’s overwhelmed and socially inept brother-in-law, Graham Russell.

At first, the relationship between Graham and Lucy is beyond awkward and strained. Graham is a very prickly man and not at all easy to be around. Once the story unfolds and the many layers are peeled away from his course exterior, we get to see what made this man turn as cold as ice. What’s even more beautiful is just how much capacity Graham’s heart has to offer undying love. He eventually sees what so many others took for granted in Lucy and all he wants is to shower her with the love she has always been searching for.

At first, it will be hard to fathom how Graham and Lucy can ever end up together because of his marriage to her sister and the fact that Lucy has a boyfriend. I will say this, I never for once felt that “cheating” was ever an issue in this story. They didn’t jump into anything lightly and there was definitely a slow and tender build to the romance, and yet never did I feel like things needed to happen sooner, and there wasn’t one single moment that I wasn’t absolutely captivated by this story.

THE GRAVITY OF US is currently available! Make sure you get to this one asap! This is one of those books that will leave an indelible effect on your soul.

REVIEW – TORTURED by Nicole Williams

SYNOPSIS

When he left for a twelve-month deployment, she knew it would feel like forever before they saw each other again. She didn’t realize how right she was.

When Lance Corporal Brecken Connolly gets taken as a POW, Camryn hopes for the best but steels herself for the worst. In the end, steel was what she needed to survive when he didn’t. She moves on the only way she knows how—gilding herself in more steel.

Years go by.
She builds a new life.
She leaves the old one behind.

Until one day, she sees the face of a ghost on the news. Brecken seems to have risen from the dead, but she knows she can’t perform the same miracle for herself. While Brecken was held in a torture camp for the past five years, she’s been trapped in her own kind of prison. One she can’t be saved from.

The man she mourned comes back to join the living, but the girl he wanted to spend his life with isn’t the same woman he comes back for. Brecken isn’t the same person either. The past five years have changed them both. While he’s determined to put the pieces back together, she’s resolved to let hers rot where they shattered.

Broken or not, Brecken wants her back. He’ll do anything to achieve that. Even if it means going against the warden of Camryn’s personal prison—her husband.

*****4.5 STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

”When I look at you, I see beauty and strength, and the one person in the world who gives me a reason to live and a reason to die.”

TORTURED is not an easy story to read, I mean the title speaks for itself. This story is utterly heartbreaking and painful at times, but even with the dark subject matter, I was hopeful that the main characters would get their well-deserved HEA. There is an element of cheating but given how horrible the husband is, I doubt anyone who has issues with cheating will really be bothered by it in this book. This is also a tale of second chance love and that’s just about one of my favorite tropes.

Camryn Gardner and Brecken Connolly grew up in the same neighborhood and have been the best of friends since their early childhood. In High School, they became romantically involved and were each other’s first love. They both come from broken homes, but Camryn had an especially rough family life. Her father was extremely strict and was both mentally and physically abusive. At the end of his senior year of high school, Brecken enlists in the Marine Corp., and he’s being shipped off to Iraq. He has reservations about leaving Camryn behind because of her abusive father but he’s planning for their future together and believes he is doing what’s best for them. He promises that he’ll only be gone for a year and then they’ll be together again. Unfortunately, Camryn’s worst nightmare becomes reality and Brecken is captured and later pronounced dead.

The story fast forwards six years and we find out that Camryn has married another man, who also grew up in the same neighborhood, and was considered a good friend. But Crew is anything but a good man. Camryn ended up moving from one nightmare with her father into an even worse one when she married Crew. He is an alcoholic who physically abuses her, but to protect the five-year-old son they have together, she stays in this abusive relationship.

Camryn’s world is turned upside down when news gets out that Brecken is alive and he is coming home. He had been held captive in Iraq for the past six years and the torture that he endured is pretty terrible and hard to stomach. What Brecken went through would break any normal human being, but what kept him going was his dream of seeing Camryn again. The moment he finally sees Camryn again and realizes that she is married nearly broke my heart into pieces.

The two are able to spend time together when Camryn’s husband checks himself into rehab after nearly beating her to death. The six years that separated them seemed to just melt away once they’re able to be together and it’s clear that the love they shared is even stronger than it was when they were teenagers. But Camryn makes it clear that their time together has an expiration date. Once her husband comes home, she will be going back to him for the sake of her son.

This story grabbed a hold of me from the beginning and I found it hard to put down, but there was one piece of the plot that I predicted early on and it ended up becoming a pain point for me in the end. I just couldn’t wrap my head around the choices the heroine made. This would have been a five star read if it weren’t for that tiny flaw in the plot. Otherwise, I still would highly recommend this book!

REVIEW – TEMPT THE BOSS by Natasha Madison

SYNOPSIS

Lauren
Going back to work was supposed to be a painless transition, but when my new boss turns out to be an arrogant, cocky jerk, he quickly turns my professional life into a world of torture. Okay, fine, calling him an asshat before knowing he was my boss wasn’t my finest moment. Hating him should be easy. I just never counted on him being so gorgeous or charming when he’s not annoying me.

Austin
I expected my new assistant to be professional and punctual, but all I’m getting are dirty looks and rude comments. I should fire the little hellion, but instead all I can think about is bending her over my desk and breaking every rule I’ve ever made for myself.

One look. One touch. One night. If we break the rules, our lives will never be the same again.

Good thing rules were made to be broken. And besides, it feels so good to Tempt the Boss.

*****Dee’s Review*****

FIVE IRRESISTIBLE STARS *****

If you love rom-coms and office romances, look no further, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!!!

Full of lust and great humor, this book was just perfect for me. Lauren and Austin tortured each other throughout the work day, in both good and very bad ways, and lucky for us we go along for the delicious ride. Tempting the boss has never felt soooo good.

Lauren married her college sweetheart and they had two beautiful children. She stopped working and became a mother and a housewife. She thought she was damn lucky to have everything she always wanted until her husband broke the news to her that he was in love with another woman, their son’s teacher nonetheless.

Broken hearted but determined to take charge of her life, Lauren decided to start working out, trade her mommy wardrobe for a sexier modern look, and to go back to corporate America. She lands a job as a temp for a CEO, and her new boss is just as sexy as he is a jerk.

Austin is going crazy with his new assistant, he spends his days fantasizing between wanting to kill her and wanting to see her naked. He used to enjoy coming to work every day, as a CEO of a successful business, Austin is used to getting everything he wants, exactly the way he wants it, but he has met his match with Lauren. She will be amazing at her job but she will make Austin suffer.

Read this book and join this hilarious battle of the sexes; a super fun story that will make you laugh so much you might pee your pants, and also make you fantasize about having an office fling.

Loved this book, it was muy caliente…

REVIEW – CO-WRECKER by Meghan Quinn

SYNOPSIS

What do ice cream and Sadie Montgomery have in common? They’re both ice cold, but one taste is never enough.

I wanted to be friends — I would have even settled for her seeing me as anything but a nerd — but there was no getting through. So just like any hard-headed, red-blooded man out there, I made up my mind.

I’d make my coworker fall for me.

I’d like to say it was simple, but like every other epic love story, all it took was one drunken night and a lot of naked courage to get the girl. For a moment, at least.

Love with a coworker is never simple, especially since Sadie’s trying to keep us on the low. Not to mention her persistent ex-boyfriend who won’t leave her alone. But I’ve never been good at giving up, and I don’t plan to start now.

The whole thing is a recipe for a rocky road, but I plan to eat the whole gallon, no matter how bad the brain freeze.

*****FIVE CANNON COCK & STURDY TITS STARS*****

{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

When did he become so ingrained in my life? Essential. When did he matter so much to me? When did this become more that a fling to me? Because I can’t remember; it’s like it sneak attacked me, leaving me no other option than to feel like utter crap when it fell apart.

When I started reading this story, I had some reservations. Once the main characters are introduced and I realized this was an NA romance between two co-workers who work at a Friendly’s restaurant in upstate New York, I immediately was preparing myself for the impending disappointment that lay ahead of me. Yet another two to three days of wasted time reading a book that was utterly boring. To my shocking surprise and delight, I really ended up LOVING this book!! It was not only ROMCOM at its best but it also had depth and heart to it as well. It was the perfect gift to this reader who loves a good laugh combined with a hefty dose of steam and some gut-wrenching angst to complete this wonderful package. I now understand why I have seen praise over Meghan Quinn’s other books and I am definitely going to be reading more by this talented author!

In the majority of RomComs, the Heroine is usually the funny and socially inept character. It was refreshing to have the roles reversed in ”CO-WRECKER”. Andrew ‘aka’ CANNON COCK is incredibly intelligent and adorably nerdy, but he’s got the body and the looks of a male model. He 100% made this book for me! From the moment he stumbled and face-planted into Sadie’s chest and labeled it her sturdy bosom, I was a goner for him! Somehow he made being geeky and silly, mouth-wateringly sexy. So many things that he said had my belly aching from laughing so hard. I really did lose count over how many times I caught myself laughing out loud. And holy hell did he have some amazing sexual skills!! He also had a way with words. Andrew often says things to Sadie that would make any woman melt into a puddle of swooniness!

Sadie was a hard character for me to like throughout most of the story. I really do feel like Andrew was the bright shining star and there was just no way for her to measure up to him and actually that is how she feels for about 90% of this book. She hasn’t had an idyllic life. Her mother abandoned her family when she was a young girl and life had dealt her another crushing disappointment in her most recent past. Sadie has not been able to move on and tries to wallow in self-pity by dropping out of college and hanging out with her childhood friends for the entire summer. Once she meets and gets to know Andrew, she starts to find some happiness that she was certain would never appear in her life again. Sadie clings to this newfound relationship with the man who makes her feel alive once more and who has no connections to her painful past.

She lets Andrew know that what they have going is all fun and sexual, there is no potential for anything deeper between them. But honestly, who is she fooling? Each day they spend together, feelings are slowly intensifying for the both of them. Andrew opens himself up to Sadie. He holds nothing back from her, but she is like a book filled with blank pages. Sadie doesn’t give up much about herself to Andrew and eventually, it starts to deeply discourage him. Andrew wants Sadie to open up and let him into her heart. What’s ironic is she has also managed to fall deeply in love with him too but her fear of not being good enough for him, keeps her from telling him all of the truths she has withheld since they started dating.

This book was just what I needed after a long and stressful week. Not only was it hysterically funny and immensely entertaining, it even had a really powerful message. You can’t rely on anyone else but yourself to make your life better. You define the person that you are. It is a lesson that some people are lucky to learn early in life and for some of us it takes many decades but I say it’s better late than never!

REVIEW – THE RIPPLE EFFECT: EPISODE THREE (Ripple Effect, #3) by Keri Lake

SYNOPSIS

Ripley

They call me RIP.
I’m a killer. A murderer. A psychopath.
In the eyes of the righteous, I’m a monster, born of sin and depravity.
I want to protect her, but I’m not a good man.
I want to love her, but I no longer feel.
She gets under my skin, though, and has awakened something inside of me.
Something I’d kill for.
I’m not her savior—not even close. In fact, I’m worse than the hell she’s already suffered.
I’m her vengeance. Tit for tat, as they say.
And if she’s not careful, I’ll be her ruin.

Dylan

For months, I’ve watched him.
I’ve fantasized him as my savior, my lover. My ticket out of the hell I’ve lived in for the last six years.
I never dreamed he’d be my nightmare.
Had I known what he really is, I’d have never gotten in the car that night, but life is full of cause and effect.
And sometimes the choice on offer isn’t a choice at all.
It’s the result of something already in motion, and we’re merely left to survive the ripple effect.

*This is an erotic suspense/erotic romance not recommended for readers under the age of 18 due to graphic violence and sex.

*****FIVE STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

A woman like that is dangerous for a man like me, but letting her go is no longer an option. I can’t decide if she’s a nightmare or a dream. All I know is that I want more of it. More of her.

THE RIPPLE EFFECT series is highly addictive, super dark, and decadently steamy!! Each episode is better than the last. This particular episode packed a punch with the steam and it delivered the romance that I have been patiently waiting for. In Episode Three, Rip and Dylan are getting to know each other on a much deeper level.

Dylan and Rip are beginning to feel that that is more than just an undeniably hot attraction between them. They are becoming to mean a whole lot more to each other and it scares them both equally. They’re revealing things about themselves to each other which strengthens the bond between them. But Rip continues to warn Dylan that there is no possible way that they can have a future together. No matter how hard she tries to act as if her heart is not being broken by his words, Dylan can’t help but feel completely rejected by the man she is slowly starting to fall in love with.

Dylan meets a woman from Rip’s past that only brings forth even more unanswered questions. And when Rip makes the mistake of showing how much Dylan means to him, it ends up putting her in a very precarious situation. Things are not looking good for Dylan by the time we get to the end of this episode but hopefully, love will conquer all and these two will ride off into the sunset together by the time we reach the conclusion in Episode Four.

I can’t praise this series enough!! It’s freaking amazing!! Keri Lake is another author that I am happy to add to my automatic must read shelf now!

*****Mel’s Review*****

4.5 Stars!

Ripley & Dylan are still enjoying their arrangement as roommates/lovers. She feels safe with him but still doesn’t know exactly how she fits into his life, or what she is to him. She’s starting to feel attached to him, & craves not only his touch but his trust. She knows this isn’t a fairytale, but she’s starting to see a different side to him. He can be tender at times, and she just wants whatever part of himself he’s willing to give her. He’s still her ticket to a better life, but could there also be something real between them.

-“You’re so fucking beautiful it hurts.”

-I’m surrounded by hell and you show up like a breath of salvation.

-The more resistant I am, the more he wants it, and for as many people in my life who sought to control my rebellious nature, this man seems to feed on it.

-No one’s ever kissed me like this, so tender yet possessive as if I belong to him.

-I hate that he has this power over me, but that’s the nature of Ripley and me. We’re fucked up- two wrongs that somehow make a right.

Dylan has awakened something inside of Ripley. He doesn’t want her to be his weakness or someone his enemies can use against him, but he’d kill for her. She’s his, & he will destroy anyone who tries to harm her. He has this overwhelming need to protect her & doesn’t want to ever hurt her. He was numb for years until Dylan entered his life. No matter how hard he tries to fight it, she makes him feel.

REVIEW – SAY I’M YOURS by Corinne Michaels

SYNOPSIS

From New York Times Bestseller, Corinne Michaels, comes a new second chance standalone romance.

I spent twenty years waiting for Trent Hennington to open his eyes and see me. But it was all for nothing. He chose to keep himself guarded and let me walk away, proving that my time and efforts were wasted.

I’m done being invisible.
It’s time to move on.

A single dance sets my new reality into motion, and I welcome it. After all, Cooper Townsend is perfect. He’s kind, sexy, and attentive—everything a girl could want.

I thought I got it right this time.
That my heart could mend, and I would be happy.
Apparently, some things really are just too hard to walk away from.

{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

I kiss him as if he’s everything. I kiss him with every fiber in my being. He’s the same man he’s always been, and I’ll show him that. He’s lost, and I want to help him find his way. If this is all I can do, I’ll be the balm to his pain.
I’ll save him by loving him.

SAY I’M YOURS is the story of the oldest Hennington brother, Trent. It can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the previous two books and in the beginning of the story I was a little lost as to why the Heroine was so frustrated with Trent, but as the story unfolds you will get all the details surrounding the couple’s long and tumultuous history. When I say LONG, I am not exaggerating. This couple has been dating for TWENTY YEARS!! Trent and Grace have been together since she was sixteen and he was twenty-one. This is a story of first love and second chances. There’s plenty of steam and a whole lot of angst! I was thoroughly entertained!

Grace Rooney is a very likable Heroine. She’s a gal I’d be friends with and could see myself watching a chic flick and chowing down on junk food with her as well. Her only flaw is that she loves Trent a little too much and let him get away with more than he deserved. Grace is one of those women who dreams of marrying her true love and having a family with him, so why she let Trent get away with not committing to her and ”putting a ring on it”, completely baffled me. Honestly, I don’t think there is a woman out there who would wait twenty years to get that proposal. Granted she was sixteen when they started dating, but she’s now thirty-six and the woman wants to have children!

Trent Hennington is one hell of a sexy alpha male, but he’s seriously messed up inside. He’s the town Sheriff and he’s witnessed things that have scared him off from committing to a serious relationship with Grace. He’s kept her dangling by a thread for years. Every time she tries to walk away, he puts on the charm and reels her back in. He has a very hard time expressing his true feelings and ends up keeping everything bottled up inside. He’s in for a rude awakening when Grace finally has the strength to leave him because she knows she deserves more and she’s not willing to settle for less. When another man starts showing interest, it’s just the motivation Trent needs to get his act together.

Trent has been playing this push and pull game with Grace for many years now. She’s not easily swayed this time out. Her fear of having her heart torn apart again keeps her from welcoming Trent back into her arms.

Is Trent ready to commit to a forever with Grace? Will he be able to win back her heart? Or has he finally used up all his chances with her?

I really enjoyed reading this story and I loved how it wasn’t completely predictable. There’s an unexpected twist that came out of left field. Believe me, there is no way any reader will see this coming. Well now that I’ve met the eldest Hennington brother, I think I’m going to have to make it a point to meet the other two and their lady loves as well!!

5 Stars!

Sabrina Lind is a 27 yr. old gorgeous single woman who works in advertising & lives in L.A. After losing her scholarship at Harvard her freshman year of college she has worked hard to earn every opportunity & achievement that she can. She attends an advertising convention & the speaker is Weston King, her longtime college crush. The rich, notorious playboy she always obsessed over back in the day. They end up spending a couple days together & then he calls her up & offers her a job that’s too good to pass up. She heads to New York to be the new director of marketing at Reach Inc., the advertising firm Weston started with his best friend and business partner Donovan Kincaid.

Sabrina is under the impression Donovan is running their international division, so when he shows up in New York, Sabrina’s past & present collide. She hasn’t seen Donovan in ten years, & to this day she constantly replays in her fantasies the single most erotic moment of her life. Since that experience every other man she was with felt lacking somehow. Donovan is even sexier than she remembered, & she soon learns he still runs hot and cold. She never has any clue where she stands with him. He’s still the same dominant, arrogant jerk he always was. He gets under her skin & damn if she doesn’t love it. He’s all she can see when he’s in a room. Her body betrayed her & pulled toward him. She longed for his touch & the sexual tension was on fire between them.

-There weren’t words for what had happened between Donovan and me.

-I couldn’t stop thinking about him.

-Donovan was a guy who took the reins, which was something I admired about him, and I waited anxiously for him to do so.

Finally Donovan & Sabrina give in to their overwhelming desire for one another. Soon they’ve become more than Donovan intended & he begins to push her away. Sabrina is falling hard & fast, and is having trouble pretending he doesn’t mean everything to her. Every time he pulls away it shatters her. She wants something he won’t give. He refuses to let anyone get too close to him & wont change for anyone. Will Sabrina be the woman to get Donovan to finally open his heart again?

Omg, I freaking love this series!!! This man can be confusing & often cruel, but he’s so complex & leaves me forever wanting more. He’s so sinfully delicious & Sabrina just wants him any way she can have him. He’s alpha, controlling & often plays games, but I feel deep down he has so much love to give. I can’t wait for the next book. I need more Donovan Kincaid!!!

REVIEW – CRAZY OVER YOU by Daisy Prescott

SYNOPSIS

Crazy Over You is a standalone romantic comedy and the second book in the Love with Altitude series.

My savior isn’t prince charming.
I’m not that lucky.
He’s my worst nightmare.
He’s my one-night stand from two years ago.
And he doesn’t remember me.

What happens on vacation doesn’t always stay on vacation. Especially in a place like Aspen. I moved to the mountains for my dream job. I never expected to run into the man of my dreams. Again.

I never thought I’d see her again.
My Cinderella didn’t leave me a shoe to find her.
Not that I’d need random footwear to recognize her.
Her kiss is something I’ll never forget.

Work hard. Play hard. I’m paid to be a nice guy on the slopes, but what I do in my off time isn’t always about making good choices. That’s the fun of living in a ski town. I stay while the women come and go.

Be sure to check out Next to You, the first Love with Altitude novel in this series of interconnected standalones!

4.5 Crazy Fun Stars*****

An amazing one-night stand that even two years after it happened Mara still can’t forget about. Mara’s new job takes her into the snowy mountains, and straight into the arms of the sexy stranger that got away from her years ago.

Gorgeous snowy mountains, a couple of sweet dogs, and a fun, and sexy story make Crazy Over You a cozy, weekend read that will entertain you to no end.

Mara and Jesse met two years ago while she was still a student, and Jesse going through some dark times in his life. The chemistry between them had been perfect but the timing, totally wrong.

Mara just moved into town and is trying the slopes, when she suddenly gets a bad panic attack, and Jesse is the one who saves her. When they first met, two years ago, Mara was very drunk, but she remembers every beautiful feature of Jesse’s body, and she also remembers what an amazing kisser he was. But does he remembers her?

It’s not quite clear who remembers what, but even throughout the confusion, their chemistry is still as explosive as always. Are these two crazy characters ready to indulge in the sweet sensations they cause together, or is their timing still off?

It’s no secret that I adore reading a Daisy Prescott novel. She writes happy, smart, funny romances that are always memorable in my heart. This one was no different, and being a total animal lover, the dogs in this novel were the perfect compliment to an already wonderful story. I loved it!!!
