REVIEW – SOMETHING IN THE AIR (Running On Air, #2) by L.H. Cosway

SYNOPSIS

Michaela Olsson has found her soulmate in James Khan. There are just a few teeny, tiny problems…

One, he’s her boss, two, he’s too old for her, and three, well, he happens to be engaged to somebody else.

She’ll take this crush and bury it deep. She’ll take it to her grave. James already belongs to another, so she’ll lock her secret up so tight it’ll be deprived of oxygen, suffocate and die.

Too dark?

Matters are only made worse when James asks her to move into his newly purchased house to supervise the renovations. Working together every day is bad enough, but living in a house he owns is far more intimate than she expected. Then, when James decides to call off his wedding without any explanation whatsoever, Michaela wonders if perhaps her feelings for him aren’t as one-sided as she thought.

While he was engaged James shared a flat with his fiancée, but now he’s moving into the house that Michaela has been living in by herself. She hadn’t intended for it to happen, but the place has started to feel like home, and with the object of her affections suddenly sharing her living space, things become infinitely more complicated. And heated.

Soon Michaela learns she might’ve had more to do with James calling off his engagement than she could’ve possibly imagined.

Something in the Air is book #2 in the Running on Air Series but can also be read as a standalone.

”I belonged to him body and soul. And he had no idea.”

I’ve been dying to get to James and Michaela’s story since the start of this series. Michaela has been hopelessly in love with her boss, who’s also engaged. She’s struggled with these feelings because she knows how wrong it is to covet another woman’s man. The fact that she goes through inner turmoil and works hard to keep her crush hidden, shows what a sweet soul she is. James has been inexplicably drawn to Michaela since the day they first met but he doesn’t realize his true feelings until he suffers a great loss. Newly single, James finds himself gravitating more towards Michaela and soon they embark on a steamy affair.

Is it too soon after James’ breakup for this new relationship to be considered anything other than a rebound? When his ex starts popping up in their lives, will Michaela be the one to end up with a shattered heart?

REVIEW- A FAVOR FOR A FAVOR (All In, #2) by Helena Hunting

SYNOPSIS

From the New York Times bestselling author of Pucked and A Lie for a Lie, a new stand-alone romance about trading favors, battling wills, and winning love.

When I joined Seattle’s NHL expansion team, I thought it was the start of something great. But nothing ever goes the way you expect. Take my introduction to my new neighbor. She came rolling in on the hot mess express at midnight, making a racket while she tried to get into my team captain’s apartment. Did I mention that he’s married to a woman who definitely was not her?

Imagine my surprise when I end up with an injury that has me out of the game for weeks, and she’s the one to offer to help me. I should probably add that she’s not the captain’s mistress. She’s his sexy, pastel-haired younger sister.

So we come up with an arrangement: she rehabs me so that I can get back on the ice sooner, and she can add a professional athlete that isn’t her brother to her client list. Seems simple enough. As long as I can keep my hands to myself and my hormones in check.

This guy takes the jerk cake with his asinine accusations. Such an epic waste of hotness.

Stevie is the baby sister of Rook Bowman. Bishop is RJ’s teammate, arch-nemesis, and neighbor. Their first encounter is far from sweet and romantic. They spend the first couple of weeks as neighbors trying to antagonize each other. When Bowman suffers a painful injury during an exhibition game, it’s Stevie that comes to his rescue. Stevie has a master’s degree in physiotherapy and works at the local university. She offers to give him extra PT sessions to ensure a shortened recovery time. Bishop returns Stevie’s favor by pretending to be her boyfriend to help scare off her ex.

They easily fall into a comfortable routine and soon enough feelings are starting to blur the lines of professionalism. Stevie needs Bishop’s recommendation to get her into the physiotherapy field for professional athletes. Bishop has been ordered to keep things strictly professional with Stevie by his coach and her brother. Crossing that line could wind up jeopardizing their careers. Are they willing to risk it all for love?

REVIEW – BASTARD BACHELOR SOCIETY (The Bachelor’s Club, #1) by SARA NEY

SYNOPSIS

What is the Bastard Bachelor Society?

It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have.

Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified.

We’re ineligible bachelors; bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually…

We’re so committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest. Rules are involved. Prizes.

Laugh it up, but I’m no loser.

Enemy number one to my single status? My irresistible neighbor, Abbott Margolis. She with her evil cat Desdemona, and Sexy AF pencil skirts. She’s kind and beautiful and hilarious. We can’t get involved, no matter how much her meddling grandmother pushes us together. But if I was going to lose this bet for anyone? It would be for Abbott.

Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down. Especially when there’s a bet to win.

It’s looking like Sara Ney has the makings of another hit series. “BASTARD BACHELOR SOCIETY” was filled with non-stop laughs and was pure enjoyment to read from beginning to end. The Hero and Heroine are equally silly and simply lovable characters. Adding to the cast of characters I loved were Abbott’s fancy little kitty Desdemona, who we get a few chapters in her POV, and Abbott’s Nan, who is quite the character and a meddling matchmaker.

Brooks having been burned by a past relationship, comes up with the idea to form a bachelor’s club with his two buddies from college. To keep things interesting they place a bet that whoever can keep from getting into a committed relationship the longest will win some of each member’s prized possessions. But then Brooks meets his beautiful neighbor, Abbott, who is unlike any woman he’s ever known. These two form a fast friendship spending days and nights feasting on take-out and binging Netflix. Before too long Brooks finds himself in a relationship he swore he’d never be in. Will he choose a stupid bet over true love?

REVIEW – INAPPROPRIATE by Vi Keeland

SYNOPSIS

A new, sexy standalone novel from #1 New York Times Bestseller, Vi Keeland.

Terminated for inappropriate behavior.

I couldn’t believe the letter in my hands.

Nine years. Nine damn years I’d worked my butt off for one of the largest companies in America, and I was fired with a form letter when I returned home from a week in Aruba.

All because of a video taken when I was on vacation with my friends—a private video made on my private time. Or so I thought…

Pissed off, I cracked open a bottle of wine and wrote my own letter to the gazillionaire CEO telling him what I thought of his company and its practices.

I didn’t think he’d actually respond.

I certainly never thought I’d suddenly become pen pals with the rich jerk.

Eventually, he realized I’d been wronged and made sure I got my job back.

Only…it wasn’t the only thing Grant Lexington wanted to do for me.

But there was no way I was getting involved with my boss’s boss’s boss. Even if he was ridiculously gorgeous, confident, and charming.

It would be completely wrong, inappropriate even.

Sort of like the video that got me into trouble to begin with.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

But sometimes it’s twice as fun.

”Leaning against the door, it felt like I’d been whiplashed. One minute, I was falling for a great guy, and we couldn’t get enough of each other. The future was so bright. And the next, I needed some time alone to think, and I wondered if we had a future together at all.”

”INAPPROPRIATE”, the latest by Vi Keeland is sure to land on readers’ favorites list. Office romances between the sexy and seemingly unattainable CEO and his employee, never get old! Ireland is unjustly fired from her job over an Instagram post. Her belligerent email written during a drunken stupor, not only sets the course for getting her job back but it also places her on her CEO’s radar. Grant is intrigued by the beautiful woman who holds no punches and tells it like it is. While they try at first to keep things professional, it doesn’t take long for the romance to spark.

Ireland has had her heart broken in the past and she’s not the kind of woman who will willingly risk being placed in that position again. She’s an easily relatable and lovable heroine. Grant has been a confirmed bachelor for many years. His story is a sad one, and it will without a doubt endear him to many readers. Can he let the past go before he irrevocably wrecks his potential future with Ireland?

REVIEW – BOSS MAN BRIDEGROOM by Meghan Quinn

SYNOPSIS

“Will you do me the greatest honor of all time and be my bridegroom?” she asks, hope in her eyes . . .

How did I get here? My assistant, bent on one knee, holding my hand, her expectant face waiting for an answer.

Just . . . how?

How did I go from being insulted by Charlee Cox to hiring her to be my assistant? How is it that she’s chaos in color – making me crazy and my life better at the same time?

I never thought I would be staring down at her bright blue eyes begging me to go along with this ridiculous scheme I suggested.

Yes, I suggested. Like the idiot I am, I thought hey, why not start an HR nightmare and have my assistant ask me to marry her?

Confused? Don’t worry, so am I.

But try to follow along, because this is how I became Boss Man Bridegroom.

”Thanks for uh, putting your leg on loan. You know how people say lend me a hand, well, I guess thanks for lending me a leg. Must have been weird huh, me humping it? Yeah, that’s really weird. Never thought I would actually hump my boss’s leg, but I guess never say never, right?”

This is why I love Meghan Quinn so much! Nobody writes rom-com like this author!! ”BOSS MAN BRIDEGROOM” is not your typical office romance between a CEO and his EA. It is, hands down, one of the funniest books I’ve read in quite some time. My stomach actually hurts from how much I laughed while reading this one. The David Hasselhoff sexy dream is going up there as one of the most cringeworthy and outrageously hilarious scenes in a book that will be forever etched in my memory. Meghan Quinn made the office romance trope her ”bitch”. Rath and Charlee are truly unforgettable characters and quite impossible not to fall in love with. Their story is silly, scorchingly hot, and twists your stomach up in knots with the author’s signature angst. This is a book that is not to be missed and I guarantee you that if you’re having a horrible day, it’s going to pull you right out of that slump.

This book was so much fun from beginning to end. I hope everyone enjoys it almost as much as I have! Charlee is a delightful and endearingly weird heroine who you can’t help but love and root for. Rath has proven himself to be one hell of a swoon-worthy hero. His bromance with Bram and his secret love for Historical Romances skyrocketed his appeal. Get ready to fall head over heels in love with this amazing book!!

REVIEW – GABRIEL’S PROMISE (Gabriel’s Inferno, #4) by Sylvain Reynard

SYNOPSIS

Author Sylvain Reynard returns with the fourth installment of the bestselling Gabriel’s Inferno series.

When Gabriel and Julia Emerson first lay eyes on their newborn daughter, Clare, they realize life as they know it will never be the same. Gabriel has vowed to be a good father when he suddenly receives an invitation to give a series of lectures in Edinburgh, Scotland–an opportunity of high prestige–but that would mean leaving his wife and newborn child in Boston. Hesitant to bring it up, he keeps the opportunity from Julia as long as he can, not knowing she has a secret of her own.

When a frightening situation arises that threatens to break their new family apart, both parents must make sacrifices. With the family in danger, the looming question remains: Will Gabriel pursue his lectureship in Edinburgh, leaving Julia and Clare unprotected in Boston, or will he abandon the chance of a lifetime in order to ensure his family’s safety?

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Publisher}

In the darkness of the hospital room, Gabriel resolved to protect, love, and care for his wife and his daughter, no matter the cost.

I still feel that books one and two are the best in this series. I may not have loved the plot of ”GABRIEL’S PROMISE”, but I still have so much love for Professor Emerson. He was the first professor that captured my heart and in this latest installment, Gabriel is still madly in love with Julia and completely devoted to his little family. His interactions with Clare are heartwarming. It just felt like the author threw way too many impossible challenges at Gabriel and Julia almost at the same time, and then he may have realized this and tried to resolve some of them without giving a real explanation. I think the health issues and huge career opportunities were enough to carry the story to the end. All the mystery and intrigue involving past enemies and possibly new ones was a bunch of unnecessary drama. Overall the writing as always was stellar, and I even found some of the Dante and Beatrice references interesting.

I’m hoping that the author will let Gabriel and Julia ride into the sunset to live happily ever after and end the series on a high note.

REVIEW – RELEASE by Aly Martinez

SYNOPSIS

From USA Today Bestselling Author Aly Martinez comes an all new standalone.

Growing up, Ramsey Stewart branded my soul in ways time could never heal.

At twelve, he asked me to be his girlfriend.
At thirteen, he gave me my first kiss.
By sixteen, we’d fallen in love, planned a future together, and had our eyes set on the horizon.

Love never fails, right?
But for Ramsey, it did.
Love failed him.
I failed him.
The entire world failed him.

At seventeen, Ramsey was convicted of killing the boy who assaulted me.

Move on, he wrote in his first and only letter from prison.
Start a new life, he urged.
I don’t love you anymore, he lied.

There was no such thing as giving up on Ramsey. Love may have been our curse, but he was mine—then, now, and forever.

So here I am, twelve long years later, waiting for a man I don’t even know to emerge from between the chain link gates.

His lips were soft.
His tongue was timid.
And his hands were gentle as they glided up my back.
Compared to the frenzied passion we’d later discover with each other, that kiss was tame.
But with that first kiss, Ramsey sealed our promises. Promises that would change us for the better, for the worse, and for everything in between.
Unfortunately for us, not long after that, the worse became all we knew.

Get ready to have your mind completely blown once again by the talented Aly Martinez. I don’t know why I keep forgetting to have my guard up whenever I read one of her stories. I thought I knew what road she was planning to take Ramsey and Thea down. I was 100% invested in getting to the HEA for this couple because if anyone deserved it, it was these two. Life had been entirely too cruel to them for far too long. The angst was at an all-time high but I’m used to that with Aly’s books, but MAN, I DID NOT SEE THAT PLOT TWIST COMING!!!

Be prepared to be taken through some gut-twisting angst but know that the ending is so worth all the pain, but also don’t get too comfortable because Aly is going to pull the rug right out from under you!!

”DESTRUCTIVE”, the third and final installment of Jay McLean’s ”Combative” series, was gut-wrenchingly angsty, and at times I wanted to step away from it for fear of having my heart shattered into a million pieces. What I can say to those of you who have waited three years to find out what happened after the huge cliffhanger ending of ”REDEMPTIVE” is that you will not be disappointed. I am once again in awe of this amazingly gifted author. I never thought I would enjoy a mafia themed story but this one was absolutely phenomenal and Nate DeLuca is up there as one of my most treasured Jay McLean Heroes. If you haven’t picked up this series yet—now is the time!

From the USA TODAY bestselling author of On the Corner of Love and Hate comes a romantic comedy about a woman who grudgingly returns home to small-town Pennsylvania, only to find herself falling in love—not only with the town, but with two of its citizens.

Charlotte Bishop is out of options in New York City. Fired, broke, and blacklisted by her former boss, she’s forced to return to her hometown of Hope Lake, PA to lick her wounds. Although she’s expecting to find a miserable place with nothing to do, she is pleasantly surprised to discover it is bustling and thriving.

She’s not supposed to find her dream job running the local florist shop. And she’s definitely not supposed to fall for not one but two of Hope Lake’s golden boys: one the beloved high school English teacher, the other the charming town doctor.

With a heart torn between two men and two cities, what’s a girl to do?

A perfect blend of humor and heart, Meet Me on Love Lane is the second in a new series from USA TODAY bestselling author Nina Bocci that is sure to charm fans of Josie Silver and Sally Thorne.

*****3.5 STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

If I could rate this book on the last 20%, I would have given it 4.5 stars. What I did love about this story was Henry. He’s impossible not to love. The romance between Henry and Charlotte had such great potential, but I just couldn’t get over the fact that things didn’t really start to take off with these two until about the 80% mark of the book. That to me is going just a bit overboard with the slow build. There was too much backstory being provided. I didn’t think there was really even a love triangle. The other character never generated a spark of interest for me. I loved that Henry and Charlotte were the best of friends from kindergarten till about the age of ten and that after twenty years apart, they were inexplicably still drawn to each other. The romance seemed to be the secondary character in this one. Charlotte spent so much more time with Emma and her grandmother than she did with Henry. It was almost up to the halfway mark in the book where he finally had a real presence in the story. I’m sad that I wasn’t able to fully connect with this one because I really did relate to some of Charlotte’s traumatic childhood experiences, but it became bigger than the romance, which is what I crave more than anything in my books!
