REVIEW – MY ENEMY NEXT DOOR by Whitney G

SYNOPSIS

We used to be close.
We used to be best friends.
Until we became enemies all over again…

Courtney Ryan ruined our on and off again friendship with one swipe of her sexy, red pen. After the final rude message she wrote in my yearbook, I decided that we didn’t need to see each other anymore. (But if we ever did, I would show her exactly why I had every reason to be “cocky,” and make her admit that I really *was* “that damn sexy.”)

Now that it’s ten years later, I’ve graduated from law school at the top of my class, and I’m being recruited to work at the number one law firm in New York City.

Since I’m in desperate need of a change and want to meet new people, I don’t hesitate to accept the offer.

Until I find out that Courtney Ryan graduated from law school, too.
Until I realize that she’ll be working at the same exact firm, in the office right across from me.

And if this timing isn’t unfortunate enough, she’s far more tempting and sexier than I originally remembered.
(Oh, and last night I found out that she lives right next door…)

We don’t have to be close.
We don’t have to be best friends.
But she’s going to pay me back for making us enemies all over again…

*****Mel’s Review*****

4 Stars!

Jace Kennedy & Courtney Ryan first met in detention at Blue Harbor High School. They were best friends, & each other’s first love. A misunderstanding leaves them both with a broken heart, and blaming the other for the end of their relationship. They both go on to become attorneys graduating from Harvard & Yale at the top of their classes. Jace ends up in Seattle & Courtney in New York.

Jace is ready for a change & a fresh start. He takes a job at the #1 law firm in New York, Walton and Associates. He’s stunned when he crosses paths with the one woman he’s never been able to get over. He hasn’t seen Courtney in ten years, but she’s just as beautiful as he remembers.

Courtney can’t believe she’s going to have to work with Jace. She still hated him after all these years, & regrets ever trusting him. He’s just as sexy & cocky as he was in high school, and no man has ever made her feel the way Jace did.

-“He was my first love.”

-“My first real friend, my first real everything.”

-He kisses me in a way I’ve never been kissed before.

Jace & Courtney soon learn not only will they be working in the same office, but they are also new neighbors. They clash and the sexual tension overflows into passion. Will they admit they still care for each other or let pride get in the way?

This was a cute friends to enemies to lovers romance. Jace is super sexy & I really enjoyed this one.

REVIEW – THREE BLIND DATES by Meghan Quinn

SYNOPSIS

“Good Morning Malibu, it’s another beautiful day on the west coast! I’m Noely Clark, your host: and I’m in the market for love…”

When the publicity team of the new local restaurant, Going in Blind, began their search for a hot, local celebrity to promote the wildly popular eatery, they couldn’t have found a better person than me.

Outgoing? Check.
Single? Check.
Open to finding love? Check.

I signed up immediately.

A hopeless romantic with an exceedingly demanding schedule, I’ve found it impossible to find the man of my dreams—so Going in Blind seems too good to be true! That’s until they start setting me up on dates—three very different, very attractive, very distinct blind dates—and only one thing is for certain . . .

I’m in big trouble.

Good Morning Malibu,
I’m Noely Clark, and I have a choice to make.
The question is who will I choose; the suit, the rebel, or the jock.

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****FIVE++++++ STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

She kisses me so fucking hard that I feel dizzy from lust, lust from this woman, the one who so easily captured my heart and showed me that the saying is true, your mind might be blind, but your heart never is. From the beginning, our hearts knew, we were meant for each other. It only took one date with a suit, a rebel, and a jock to figure it out.

THREE BLIND DATES is going down as my first book to be labeled ”Best of 2018”! I am convinced that there isn’t any way that a Meghan Quinn book could ever disappoint me. This story was absolute perfection from start to finish! I loved the plot, the three possible love interests and most of all I loved the Heroine, Noely Clark! She was spunky, endearingly comical, and had a huge and pure heart. She just might be my favorite Heroine created by the magnificent Meghan Quinn!

Noely Clark is a popular morning television show co-host. She’s a beautiful and vivacious young woman who is at the point in her life where she is looking for that special someone to settle down with. She sees how happy her brother and her best friend are in their marriages and now she’s been bitten by the relationship bug. Noely is going to take a chance with a new dating service called Going In Blind. She hasn’t had luck on her own and figures what does she have to lose with accepting a little help. The process intrigues her. She has to give detailed information about herself and will be set up with an online profile that will not give up her name or post an actual picture of her. The matches will be made for her based on personality compatibility. The first date will take place at a restaurant owned by the matchmaking company and if the date goes well, the daters have the option to go out on a second date which the Going In Blind team will offer possible suggestions for.

Noely ends up dating three men, the Suit, the Rebel, and the Jock. I will tell you this, it was kind of hard picking which one to love the most. Each and every time there was undeniable chemistry between Noely and her suitors. The first dates would knock any woman’s socks off but there was also always something off about each man. Like they had demons from the past that kept them from giving themselves completely to the possibility of a relationship with Noely, and she knew that too. Disheartened from the outcomes from her interactions with the three sexy men, Noely decides to put her search for love on hold.

Just when I thought I knew who was going to end up with the girl, it would seem that none of them would, until Noely gets a cryptic message from a new “Going In Blind” member. Now I am thinking how brilliant the author is for throwing this latest monkey wrench into the storyline. It wasn’t easy at all trying to figure out which man was trying to win back Noely’s heart. I know there was one I was hoping for but in the end, she does wind up with the man that was made to love her the best! The cherry on top is that the two men who didn’t get the girl in this story, will each get their own standalone novel! Color me ECSTATIC!!

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 5
Heroine: 5++++++++
Plot: 5+++++++
Angst: 4.5
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5++++++

REVIEW – THE WICKED CHOICE (The Wicked Horse Vegas, #4) by Sawyer Bennett

SYNOPSIS

Rachel Hart and Bodie Wright are nothing more than teammates. As mercenaries for hire with the elite Jameson Group, they have each other’s backs in the most dangerous of circumstances. But after a mission gone deadly wrong, Rachel does something she’s never done before. She crosses the professional line and takes comfort in Bodie’s arms.

One night of passion turns their lives upside down with a pregnancy neither of them expected, and one that Rachel was too terrified to ever want. Bodie, however, is a family man through and through, and he’s determined to raise their child alone if necessary.

The only common thread Rachel and Bodie have is their membership at The Wicked Horse, a sex club that lets them both fulfill their dirtiest fantasies with each other. As they become more intimately entwined, the strong, steady man with a heart of gold makes Rachel question everything she ever thought she knew about herself. Their wicked nights together make them so much more than teammates and Rachel is about to discover the choices she thought were the most difficult are actually the easiest ones to make.

*****Mel’s Review*****

5 Stars!

Rachel Hart & Bodie Wright are mercenaries for a high profile security team called The Jameson Group. They go on high risk, dangerous operations. They live in Vegas, but travel all over the world for their work. After a mission goes wrong, the usually unshakable Rachel is rattled, and seeks comfort in her teammate Bodie. They’ve never mixed business with pleasure, but things quickly turn passionate between these co-workers. They soon learn their one night together can’t be forgotten, when they find out Rachel’s pregnant.

Rachel & Bodie have a great respect for one another, & share a bond forged in trust. Rachel has worked hard to be where she is in her career in a world dominated by men. Her job is everything to her, & she doesn’t think she has what it takes to be a mother. She’s all about adventure, and never had to take care of anyone but herself.

Bodie grew up on a farm in Nebraska. He’s a former Navy Seal, and family is everything to him. He would give up his career for any of them. He wants the baby, & is ready to raise their child on his own if necessary.

Rachel & Bodie don’t have a lot in common other than their jobs & their memberships at The Wicked Horse. They both enjoy unwinding and indulging at the private sex club where they fulfill their fantasies. They’ve always kept things professional, but since that line has already been blurred, they give in to their attraction again. Bodie continues to push Rachel’s boundaries & challenge her. As they spend more time together Bodie shows he’s someone Rachel can count on. Things turn more intimate, & when real feeling form Rachel is terrified. Will she let fear rule her, or will she let herself try for more with Bodie?

-I don’t know that I’ve ever felt closer to a human being in my life.

-“There’s something special between us. Call it chemical, call it emotional… I don’t give a fuck what you call it. But it’s something different, and I know you know it, too.”

-You are the greatest gift I’ve ever been given.

REVIEW – THE THING ABOUT LOVE by Kim Karr

SYNOPSIS

An emotional and unforgettable new romance from New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr.

The whole stethoscope-and-white coat thing isn’t my cup of tea.

I prefer a man with an artistic vein in his body. 9 – 5 hours. And I can definitely do without the half-lidded, sleepy bedroom eyes. (Okay, so those are kind of sexy.)

Tall, dark, and handsome doesn’t change the fact that he’s arrogant, cocky, and rude.
Not that I care, but he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with a quirky girl like me, which is why he said no.

Turns out no isn’t an option.

I have a quickie wedding to plan, and Dr. Jake Kissinger doesn’t have a choice. He looks at our situation like he’s stuck with me, but in reality I’m stuck with him. Stuck with his pouty mouth. His long, lean body. And stuck with those loose, low riding scrub pants. (Okay, so the doctor thing is growing on me.)

When spending time together turns into more than it should, I know I’m in trouble.
He isn’t supposed to make my heart pound.
I’m not supposed to make him look twice.
And we aren’t supposed to spend the night together. (Okay, so he has more than one artistic vein in his body, and other places.)

Falling for him is definitely a mistake.

Here’s the thing…
Jake is unavailable, and I know it.
Just not in the way you might think.

I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

*****4.5 STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Butterflies swarmed my belly, my throat tightened, and when he full on kissed me, I felt like he was my home.
It was a feeling I hadn’t felt in a very long time.

And right then I knew nothing would ever be the same in my life when he left.

THE THING ABOUT LOVE is a sexy, funny, and emotional read. This was my first Kim Karr book and I can guarantee that it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed this ”enemies-to-lovers” romance. The pacing of the story was perfect and kept me thoroughly entertained. The Heroine was a likable character and the Hero had the right amount of sex appeal and cocky attitude that I love in a really good book boyfriend.

Juliette Easton has been running her Uncle’s wedding planning business and up until she took over, it had been doing really well, but now they are nearly bankrupt. She has the chance of turning things around if she can convince the bride from one of Atlanta’s wealthiest and influential families to hire Jules to plan her wedding. Things get off to a rocky start when she throws cake at the bride’s brother’s face after an innocent misunderstanding. Doctor Jake Kissinger is not at all pleased with the feisty wedding planner but he can’t ignore his strong attraction to her.

At first, Jake isn’t thrilled with the idea of hiring Juliette as his little sister’s wedding planner. But when his terminally ill grandmother asks for the wedding to be pushed up as early as possible so that she can see her granddaughter married before she passes on, Jake has no other choice but to hire Juliette as she’s the only wedding planner that is desperate enough to pull off the wedding of the century in under five weeks.

Things get downright steamy when Jake and Jules are forced to spend time together planning all of the wedding details while the bride and groom are away at college. Neither of them is looking for anything long-term at the moment, so they agree to keep things strictly physical. But sometimes feelings can develop between two people who share out of this world sexual chemistry and soon the couple will have to deal with having to let go of something they know is so right. They both hold on to deeply rooted pain from their pasts. Jake feels tremendous guilt over his father’s death and thinks that if he moves back to New York and works in the same hospital that his dad did, that somehow he’s atoning for his past transgressions.

The story was just about perfect had it not been for the coincidence with Jake’s and Juliette’s tragic pasts. It was the only tiny piece of the story that I found fault with but it’s so minor that it did very little to affect my enjoyment.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 4
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

THE THING ABOUT LOVE is currently available! It’s worth a one-click. There are two more standalones planned and believe me you will want to meet Jaxson and Finn when their books come out!

REVIEW – COWBOY UP (Coming Home #3) by Harper Sloan

SYNOPSIS

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Harper Sloan returns with a passionate and breathless romance about the sparks that ignite when a cautious cowboy and a once-scorned woman open up to each other in the third installment of the Coming Home series.

As the eldest Davis, Clayton has always tried to lead by example. He takes his job as head of the family businesses seriously, making sure the farm and auto shop are running smoothly—along with keeping an eye on his brother and sister. For him, there’s a time and place to let go of the control he holds with an iron grip. And with the way he grew up, coupled with disastrous end to his last relationship, he’s just fine with his quiet, solitary life.

Most of the time.

What he hadn’t counted on was cute, quirky, shy bookstore owner, Caroline Michaels. She’s the proverbial woman next door—well, the next town over, that is. Caroline hasn’t lived an easy life, but after escaping an abusive ex, she’s finally living it for herself. The last thing she ever expected was a one-night stand with Clay Davis, a night she can’t stop thinking about.

So when she falls on hard times and Clay comes out of nowhere to her rescue, she realizes just how impossible it’ll be to stay away from him. Now all she has to do is convince him to live a little…

Will Clay be able to give up the reins and finally settle down? And, more importantly, will Caroline muster enough courage to lasso him up?

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Publisher}

The third book ended up being the one I enjoyed the most. Although I have to admit that I wasn’t particularly crazy about the ”Insta-Love” aspect. Clay was my favorite Davis sibling, so I am happy he found his someone special.

Clay and Linney have a hot one-night stand after meeting up at a local bar. They never thought it would lead to anything more but when Linney shows up at Leighton’s baby shower, the two cross paths again and it’s like fireworks are igniting from their wildly hot attraction to each other. We learn that Linney went to high school with Leighton and Quinn and that she had a major crush on Clay. She left town with her boyfriend and ended up staying in their abusive relationship a little too long, but now she’s back home and looking to open up her own bookstore and start a new life.

Once their romance starts it goes full speed ahead and within a matter of weeks, Linney is moving in with Clay. There’s some drama with some ex-lovers and mother/daughter relationship woes, but also there is a ton of schmexy going on between our hero and heroine. It got a little excessive so at some point, I started skimming because it became repetitious for me.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 3.5
Angst: 2
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4

Cowboy Up is currently available. Fans of the ”Coming Home”series will no doubt enjoy this last installment.

SWEEPING THE SERIES by KATE STEWART
*****FIVE STARS*****

Even as I settled into the role I was expected to play, I didn’t play it well. I tried everything, and no part of me wanted to forget. Loving her was torture. And the realization that I was still so much in love with her, well, that was the cruelest punishment.

I want to give Kate Stewart the biggest hug, and smooch and then a fist bump because this short story was absolute PERFECTION!! I may have to switch teams and choose Ren McAvoy as my new favorite book boyfriend created by Ms. Stewart!! Who knew this character had it in him to be such a charismatic Hero??!! I don’t think I can find the words to truly express just how much I fell in love with this novella!! It was fabulous from beginning to end and it’s got Kate’s signature ”HOTTER THAN H” steam!! What a terrific addition to the ”Balls in Play” series! If you love Second Chance Romances, this one is sure to steal your hearts!

Ren McAvoy and Erica Wild were once madly in love with each other but one day without an explanation or an apology, Erica packed up and left her life with Ren just when he was making it to the big leagues. For the next two years, Ren will be labeled the “bad boy” of MLB, bedding a different woman every night and having his escapades splattered all over the gossip magazines. When management decides they’ve had enough of his antics they hire a new PR agent to get his reputation back in a favorable light. Ren is shocked and maybe even a little excited to meet his new agent who turns out to be the woman who broke his heart, Erica.

There’s a lot of heated arguments, angst, and comedic moments with all the beloved characters from the previous books. It was terrific to get the chance to spend some more time with Rafe, Alice, Andy, and April! They made for a perfect ensemble cast! I loved SWEEPING THE SERIES so much that I wish Kate would write more installments but I believe this will be the end of it.

If you haven’t read ANYTHING BUT MINOR or MAJOR LOVE, make sure you add them to your soon to read TBRs!!

ONE GOOD MAN by EMMA SCOTT
*****FIVE STARS*****

I gasped, utterly unprepared for how the taste of him, the feel of him touching me like this, turned my bones to sand and stole my breath.

I have to admit that when I first started reading Emma Scott’s contribution to the anthology, I was skeptical that I would love a story that takes place in 1970, but I should have known that there is no way this author could ever write anything that I wouldn’t fall in love with! ONE GOOD MAN is another STELLAR addition to the “Team Player” anthology. If you’ve read any of Emma Scott’s works then you’ll know that you can never trust your first impression of her characters. You’ve got to let her take you on a journey and slowly the layers are peeled away and you’re left with some incredible characters. I fell so much in love with Adrian Rousseau, the talented center forward of the Paris Central soccer team. He was a beautiful man with an equally beautiful soul!

Janey Martin was a strong Heroine who had to deal with her fair share of discrimination and sexual harassment being one of the few women majoring in journalism, which was predominantly a core curriculum for men. This novella really strikes a cord given the fact that we are hit with so many new cases of sexual harassment against women and in some instances, men, being reported in the media on a daily basis now.

Janey is an American student who is sent to complete her college education at the Sorbonne in France, after getting entangled in a Vietnam War protest that ended up in her incarceration. She hopes to become a successful news journalist for the Times or Newsweek, but being a woman with striking good looks have not been in her favor. She’s not been taken seriously nor given any gritty assignments that she craves. Her latest assignment for the school paper is to interview Sorbonne’s most popular student who is on the fast track to becoming a professional Soccer player—Adrian Rousseau.

Their first meeting is less than cordial as both Janey and Adrian take turns throwing insults at each other. But as the story unfolds they get past their own biases and realize that the people they are on the inside just might be that missing piece of the puzzle to their hearts.

This was one incredibly beautiful story told by the incomparable Emma Scott!!

BACK IN THE GAME by MEGHAN QUINN
*****FIVE STARS*****

Holding my breath, I wait for his next move, and when his pinky reaches out and touches mine, an entire wave of euphoric heat shoots across my body. It’s a pinky touch, just a pinky, but it offers so much promise of what’s to come.

I can never get enough of Meghan Quinn’s stories! She is one of the best romantic comedy writers out there currently. BACK IN THE GAME was another novella in the ”TEAM PLAYER” anthology that was perfect, beginning to end! I laughed out loud so many times while reading this one and fell hard for both Calder and Rachel. Their chemistry was scorching hot and their silly but hilarious banter had me in stitches throughout! And don’t even get me started on the fact that Calder Weis is one of the hottest NHL players! I have a soft spot for Hockey romances! They tend to be my all-time faves!

Calder and Rachel have the silliest/funniest meet cute near the bathroom of a Chinese-Donut takeout restaurant. Calder is a single father of an adorable five-year-old girl who loves to dress him up as a fairy princess whenever it’s father/daughter play time. Calder is able to charm Rachel even while sporting a bedazzled tiara, fairy wings, and a pink feather boa wrapped around his chest. Their first date is far from what a typical night out between two adults would encompass and I found it endearing, hysterical, and even a huge turn on.

Calder is probably going to be my second most favorite hero created by Meghan Quinn, following Racer McKay. He’s not your typical Hockey alpha male. This guy put his personal life on hold to raise his daughter on his own and was afraid to let a woman get too close for fear that she wouldn’t be in it for the long haul and would end up breaking his little girl’s heart. He was shy at times and seemed to have no game with the ladies but it was the lack of cockiness that will melt a reader’s heart! I highly doubt there will be anyone who won’t fall in love with him and with Rachel as well! I loved her spunky attitude and larger than life personality!

A little-added bonus was we meet one of the heroes who will be in THREE BLIND DATES and he’s linked to Racer!! Make sure you read this novella if you pick up this anthology!! It was another BIG HIT for me!

SWITCH HITTER by SARA NEY
*****3.5 STARS*****

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to read this novella. I’ve never read any of Sara Ney’s books but I’ve seen reviews for her “Douchebag” series plastered all over social media. I didn’t fall madly in love with this story, but I’m still willing to try one of her books in her popular series.

SWITCH HITTER is about identical twin sisters Lucy and Amelia, who switch places one last time when Lucy winds up having dates on the same night with two different guys. The sisters are identical in looks alone. They are complete opposites in everything else. Lucy is the party girl who never forms any meaningful relationships with men and Amelia is more subdued and quiet. She’s the sister with the brains and soulful personality.

Amelia reluctantly agrees to go out with Dante aka “Dash” Amado, who is on the University’s baseball team. Amelia expects him to be the typical dumb jock but is surprised when he proves to be a gentleman with actual intelligence as well.

Dante wasn’t looking forward to the date as Lucy is far from the type of girl he could bring home to meet his family. He has never been attracted to women who are overtly sexual and who come on too strong. His plan was to break it off with her but from the moment this third date started, he noticed a difference in Lucy—little did he know that he was out with her sister instead.

Amelia becomes tortured by her sense of loyalty to her sister and her strong attraction to Dante. Will she be able to let him go when the time comes?

The writing was ok but I never connected to the story or the characters. I didn’t feel the chemistry between Dash and Amelia. The ending was also a bit rushed.

FULL COURT PRESS by KENNEDY RYAN

I initially had planned not to read this one but my curiosity got the best of me. Kennedy Ryan’s books have gotten such rave reviews, I wanted to see what the fuss was all about. I probably should have stopped reading once I realized it involved an NBA player. I don’t like or follow the sport but I figured I’d put that aside and still give the story a chance. The pace was too slow for me and some of the subject matter was a bit depressing, not something I want to read in a Christmas/Sports anthology. I tried to get through it but finally gave up when I made it to the eighth chapter. I’m sure the author’s fans will enjoy it but this just wasn’t for me.

TEAM PLAYER is currently available and I highly recommend it! If I could have based my ratings on Kate’s, Emma’s and Meghan’s novellas, this would have been a FIVE STAR read all around. Their contributions are enough to warrant my seal of approval!

*****Dee’s Review*****

FIVE STARS *****

If you like sports romances, or if you like balls of any kind, this Anthology is for you!

This book has an all-star lineup of amazing authors, their styles are all so different but combined they created an amazing book that was sexy, entertaining and with a lot of heart.

I was excited to pick up this Anthology when I saw that some of my top favorite authors were involved, and the bonus is that I also got to read stories by authors I hadn’t yet discovered, but have been dying to read.

Every story was a hit for me, all the characters were fantastic and the stories were all just wonderful. How lucky are we, to have the opportunity to read a book written by such talented and amazing authors? In my opinion, this book also makes for the perfect holiday gift.

I can honestly say that I couldn’t just pick one favorite story, each author really did knock it out of the park. I even one-clicked more books by Sara Ney, Rochelle Paige, and many others because I really wanted more and more beautiful, sexy stories.

So get ready to go on the field, and to get in bed with some of the sexiest sports players you’ll read about this year.

*****Mel’s Review*****

 5 Tin Man Stars!

I read Sweeping the Series by Kate Stewart. It’s a second chance romance novella that’s part of her Balls in Play series.

Ren Makavoy is one of the best in the MLB. His dream has always been to play baseball for Denver, & now he’s their star catcher. He’s also a gorgeous bachelor playboy who’s getting too much negative attention off the field. All the media seems to care about lately is his personal life. The club has had it with cleaning up his messes & hires the best PR firm in the country to handle him. This is his wake up call. He needs to put all his focus on baseball, but when his ex-girlfriend shows up as his new publicist, he’s stunned. Erica Wild is the only woman he’s ever loved. She gave him everything he’d ever wanted, & then took it all away with no explanation, and left him shattered. He wouldn’t ever give her the chance to ruin him again.

Erica is living in NY and working for a big PR firm. She finds out her new assignment will be to head to Arizona for spring training where she will represent her ex Ren Makavoy for the entire season while trying to repair his reputation. He’s a PR nightmare, & she’s going to have to try and make his headlines positive, while attempting to not let her feelings for him get in the way. She’s nervous about having to face him for the first time in two years. He’d once been hers, and now he was like a stranger. Her life was about to revolve around baseball and Ren.

-I knew if he glanced my way, I’d be paralyzed where I stood, like the first time I saw him three years ago. No other man I’d ever met had the soul-stealing eyes of Ren Makavoy. And no man ever would.

-Two years. Two fucking years I’d waited to set eyes on her again, and I was going to take my time.

-She was every bit of the woman I remembered, but even more beautiful.

Ren & Erica still have that undeniable chemistry and connection they can’t deny. They both have anger & resentment toward each other, but also love. Both are playing it cool & trying to be professional, but eventually the fire between them can’t be contained any longer. Can they work through their past & have a future together, or will trust issues hold them back?

This novella was amazing!!! It was super funny, deliciously hot, & a fabulous second chance love story. I’ve been so excited to finally get Makavoy & just loved his story! We also get to catch up with Rafe, Alice, Andy & April since Rafe is Ren’s teammate. This novella is part of the Team Player anthology with eleven authors writing sport themed romances. I can’t wait to get to the rest of them!

REVIEW – SINFUL EMPIRE (The Mount Trilogy #3) by Meghan March

SYNOPSIS

The Mount Trilogy concludes with Sinful Empire!

What’s mine, I keep, and that includes Keira Kilgore.
It’s no longer enough to have her in my debt. No longer enough to own her body.
I want something more.
She can try to resist, but I’ll never give her up.
Nothing will keep us apart.
Not her. Not my enemies. No one.
Her debt will only be paid one way—with her heart.

Sinful Empire is the third and final book in the Mount Trilogy.

With a flick of my wrist, I move the curtain aside and step inside to where there’s no shadows, no pale white light, but a rainbow of colors. Maybe that’s where we belong. Not in the shadows. Not in the light. But somewhere completely unique to us.

”The Mount Trilogy” ends spectacularly with the final installment, ”SINFUL EMPIRE”. Everything from Lachlan’s dismal childhood, his rise to power, and even how he got his name is revealed. I said it before and I’ll say it again, Lachlan Mount is what makes this story FANTASTIC, although I even ended up liking Keira this time around. The couple’s relationship solidifies, and it brings out new depths and dimensions in both character’s development. There were a few twists and turns that I honestly didn’t see coming and have to give praise to the author’s ability to throw some curve balls throughout the story’s progression. It made for a truly engaging and entertaining read. It might be one of the best I’ve read by Ms. March!

The recent attempt on Keira’s life has brought she and Lachlan even closer together. The dynamic between them has evolved and it actually started to grow into something more during their trip to Dublin. Keira is no longer fighting her attraction to Lachlan and the two are starting to realize that they have much deeper feelings than they ever thought possible. In this conclusion Lachlan and Keira evolve into a power couple, ready to take on all of their enemies together!

Lachlan offers himself up on a silver platter to Keira. He is giving her all of the answers to her burning questions so that she knows what she is getting herself into by linking herself to him. One revelation with regards to how she even showed up on his radar, has Keira reeling from feelings of deep betrayal, but this in no way hinders her relationship to Lachlan.

The combination of action, suspense, and steam made this one such an entertaining read! And Lachlan Mount is my new favorite Alpha Male!

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 5
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

SINFUL EMPIRE is currently available! It’s the last book in the series, so if you are one to wait until all books have been released, then this will be the time to dive in! It’s definitely one of the best by Meghan March!!

REVIEW – THE MAN IN THE BLACK SUIT by Sylvain Reynard

SYNOPSIS

Brazilian Acacia Santos excels at her job as concierge at the prestigious Hotel Victoire in Paris. When her senior colleague is attacked and sent to the hospital, she is tasked with serving one of the hotel’s most mysterious and attractive guests.

Nicholas Cassirer checks into the hotel under an assumed name every three months. Usually, he stays in the penthouse suite with a beautiful female companion but on this occasion, he arrives alone and is displeased in having to deal with someone new. A match of wits ensues as he tests Acacia’s expertise with a series of almost impossible demands. Her intelligence and creativity rise to the challenge, earning his respect.

They strike a tenuous accord until Acacia discovers a famous stolen painting in his suite. Compelled to report her discovery, she contacts a former boyfriend who works for the elite BRB, a unit of French law enforcement that deals with stolen art.

Nicholas is questioned by police and released when it is revealed the painting is a reproduction. Irked with her behavior, Acacia’s supervisor demotes her, threatening dismissal and the cancellation of her work permit.

But Acacia has already attracted Nicholas’s attention. Remorseful that she may lose her job on his account, he offers her a choice—she can wait until her supervisor dismisses her, or she can leave the city of lights behind and become his personal assistant.

Acacia initially refuses his offer, but Nicholas is persistent. He reveals himself as a man who quietly acquires stolen art in order to restore it to its rightful owners. Faced with mounting familial debts and the possibility of dismissal and deportation, she agrees to work for him.

Nicholas opens up a whole new world of beauty and intrigue to Acacia as they travel the globe. Soon the line between employer and assistant is blurred, and the two lonely people embark on a passionate relationship.

Secrets and danger abound as Nicholas and Acacia try to solve the mystery of a piece of stolen art. But Acacia may prove to be the most dangerous mystery of all.

His eyes burned through her, opening her, reading her soul.

I have been a die-hard fan of Sylvain Reynard ever since I read his ”Gabriel’s Inferno” series. I think I lost my mind just a wee bit over that series. It had such a strong impact on me that I was completely obsessed with it. What I know from having read several of Sylvain’s books is that he will always take us on exquisite journeys to some of the most exotic and romantic destinations and he did not disappoint with this one. We will journey to picturesque locales such as France, Greece, Russia, Dubai, and Geneva with the Hero and Heroine and their travels will be perilous, action-packed and there was a healthy dose of passion being generated between Nicholas and Acacia. But not only do we get a story filled with suspense and romance, we also get a bit of culture. It almost feels at times that we’re getting an art history lesson and let me just say that it didn’t bore me in the slightest. Sylvain’s writing is so cerebral and enchanting.

Nicholas and Acacia don’t have the best first introduction to each other but as the story progresses we learn that Nicholas is not who we first assumed him to be and that he is a very complex character. Acacia, too, is not the person she portrays herself to be and as her story developed I couldn’t help but admire her. She has got to be the strongest Heroine that Sylvain has ever created. She held on to her morality and loved with a fierceness that no one could ever extinguish. I did fall for Nicholas but I have to say that Acacia’s character shined just a little bit brighter than his.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

4.5 Stars!

“You only fail when you give up.”

Acacia Santos is a concierge at the Hotel Victoire in Paris. She works hard to fulfill the needs of her guests & provides exceptional service. She is Brazilian, speaks several languages, & is very intelligent and beautiful. She meets a mysterious businessman named Pierre Breckman who is rather difficult & demanding. He’s a regular at the hotel, and a highly valued guest. Things get complicated when Acacia thinks he’s in possession of stolen art. Her job & work permit are suddenly in jeopardy. Pierre offers her a job as his executive assistant & she learns he’s charming & kind. Soon the line between employer & assistant is blurred, and they are having trouble fighting their intense attraction for one another.

I really enjoyed this book! It was full of secrets, lies, action, & incredible passion. It delves into the art world & takes us on a journey to many beautiful places. It has culture, intrigue, romance, and love. It’s sexy, exciting, and nothing is what it seems.

-“You are so beautiful.”

-“I haven’t wanted someone like this in a very long time.”

-“I love this man. I can see his heart and his soul in his eyes, and I don’t ever want to be without them.”

REVIEW – BLOCK PARTY (Twin Estates, #3) by Stylo Fantôme

SYNOPSIS

Things you need for a good Block Party:

1. Awesome food

2. Great Music

3. Fun games

4. A secret spot to hook up with your even-more-secret girlfriend.

Liam Edenhoff is a simple creature. He likes women, tacos, and sex. As long as he has those in his life, everything is good. He’s finally realizing maybe he’s just not cut out for relationships – surely there’s got to be a woman out there who’d be okay with roof top margaritas, casual sex, and no attachments.

Enter a new neighbor – one who is allergic to commitment and prefers her sex casual but frequent. She’s seen him at his worst and is still willing to play his games, on three conditions – discretion is a must, casual is key, and absolutely no drama. Sounds like the perfect arrangement. What could go wrong?

Famous last words when dealing with neighbors.

This story contains scenes of a graphic sexual nature, multiple uses of coarse language, and more tacos than is healthy or sane to read about. Reader discretion is advised.

This is the third installment in the Twin Estates series

*****Dee’s Review*****

4.5 Awesome Stars*****

I’m a big fan of this series and an even bigger fan of Liam Edenhoff. I was a little sad when Katya turned down Liam for Wulf, but now that I’ve read Block Party it all makes perfect sense. This book was beyond amazing. It had humor, angst, romance and a whole lot of spice, it was just perfect.

We met Wulf’s assistant Ayumi from the first book. She’s the perfect assistant; extremely organized, sharp, and lives and breathes work. She’s been called a robot, because she’s capable of closing amazing deals, working insane hours and showing no emotions towards anything or anyone. After Liam and Wulf finished their partnership at the sex club, Ayumi stayed as Liam’s accountant.

Liam is always running from, or towards women. His latest sex-escapade has him working longer hours in order to avoid his apartment and the woman who is currently hunting him down to torture him after he broke it off with her.

Liam gave up on trying to flirt with Ayumi a long time ago as she seems like the only woman on the planet who is immune to his charms. So when she proposed a deal to have sex without strings, he is completely shocked. Turns out Liam and Ayumi are explosive in bed and Liam wants more, but Ayumi doesn’t do relationships. It’s only when a bad situation forces her to leave on a road trip with Liam, that she is for the first time in her life, contemplating opening up her heart to someone.

Both Liam and Ayumi have a lot of baggage, but together they simply work, in some ways, they are complete opposites but in a weird way, they also complete each other.

These two together are a total disaster but in a fun, and very sexy way. To me, this series only gets better with each book and I would totally recommend it to everyone.

REVIEW – SWEET LIFE (Sugar Rush, #5) by Nina Lane

*****FIVE++++++ STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Loving Julia was change. Intense beauty. A touch of melancholy. Leaving behind and starting new. The indescribable joy of knowing he had lived as well as he possibly could, but that it was far from over. With her, he could see the bloom of endless springs.

I am head over heels in love with the Sugar Rush series and Nina Lane!! She proves time and again that she’s an author that can deliver a top-notch story. I never have to worry whether or not I’m going to have the best time getting lost in one of her books. She’s the real deal! Since the first book, I’ve been hoping that Warren, the patriarch of the Stone family and Aunt Julia, the younger sister of Warren’s deceased wife, would have a romance of their own. You could feel the chemistry between them in each and every installment. I’m so happy and feel like a kid on Christmas morning after having just finished this absolutely fabulous story. Ms. Lane has proven that fun and steamy romances are not only meant for the twenty and thirty-something crowd and that people in their 40’s & 50’s still have the ability to spice things up!!

Over the past thirteen years, Warren and Julia have become the best of friends, confidantes and each other’s support system. Julia left her life in London behind and moved to Indigo Bay to help take care of Warren and his children when her sister passed away during a fatal car accident. Never has she resented giving up her personal life because she loves her family something fierce. There isn’t anything she wouldn’t do for Warren and his children. In all the time that has passed neither, Warren nor Julia endeavored to take their relationship a step further but buried inside both of their subconsciousness were feelings of deep affection and maybe even longing.

Warren is the one to initiate the progression of their relationship and while at first Julia is stunned, she also is unable to fight her attraction and needs for the silver fox. Warren might be fifty-five but he’s as virile and handsome as all of his sons. It’s clear where all the Stone men get their “sex appeal” from! While Warren and Julia discover new and intense passion, it’s Julia who struggles with feelings of guilt over finding happiness with her sister’s widower. Secrets from the past resurface and could potentially divide the Stone family and end Warren and Julia’s love affair before it even gets the chance to blossom.

Will they be able to let go of ghosts from the past? Can the Stone siblings accept their Aunt Julia as their father’s new love interest?

*****Mel’s Review*****

5 Stars!

Julia Bennett lives in the California coastal town of Indigo Bay. She’s gifted at fashion & owns a successful styling company. She’s renowned for her expertise & stays very busy doing personal styling and hosting events for charity. She’s also the matriarch of the Stone family. Her sister died thirteen years ago, & her six nephews and her niece are her world. They mean everything to her. Including their father Warren Stone. Julia’s known Warren since she was fourteen. Over the years he’s become her best friend. The one person she could turn to, that always believed in her. They share a deep, loyal trust. She tried not to love him, to pretend she only felt friendship, but over time her heart wanted more. He was such a wonderful man, she couldn’t help falling for him. She secretly craved and fantasized about him, but knew he could never be hers. He’d always belonged to her sister, & she was too scared to lose what they’d spent years building.

-Everything made Warren Stone the gold standard against which all other men fell painfully short.

-Julia was unquestionably the best thing that had happened to Warren in the past thirteen years.

-She was perfect. So fucking perfect that he couldn’t fathom how he’d managed to restrain himself from touching her all these years.

It’s the holidays, & Julia throws herself into trying to make things extra special for her family. All the Stone kids are grown, but they still all spend Christmas together. One evening while decorating everything changes between Julia & Warren. Some innocent flirting turns into a sexy unexpected evening full of passion. Warren had often thought what if? He’d always loved Julia & wondered if they could be more. She’d become a part of him & essential to him and his children. He’d come to rely on her more than anyone. Now that they’d crossed that line, he wanted more, & wants her to give them a chance.

I’ve been dying for Papa Stones book, & it was everything I wanted and more! I fell harder for him than his sons, & I adore the Stone brothers. This man’s heart was absolutely beautiful. Get ready to swoon hard, & fall in love with Warren!
