REVIEW – MOONLIGHT SINS (de Vincent, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

SYNOPSIS

New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout delivers the unforgettable story of a woman whose new life has just begun—but may end in murder…

Julia Hughes has always played it safe until she learned a very painful lesson. Now Julia’s starting over with a job in the Louisiana bayou—and a scorching encounter with a stranger, only to discover he’s Lucian de Vincent… her new employer. The de Vincent brothers share a massive fortune and a dark reputation. Julia cares for their troubled sister, but a menacing presence in the mansion—and the ever-present temptation of Lucian—prove dangerously distracting.

Lucian’s grandmother claimed de Vincent men fall in love once—and hard. Apparently, it’s Lucian’s turn. Julia’s compassionate care of his twin makes Lucian want to lay himself bare. But some secrets are better for Julia not to know.

The recent “suicide” of Lucian’s father is the latest in a string of deaths on the estate. Someone is eliminating the de Vincents. And the best way to get to Lucian may be through Julia…

MOONLIGHT SINS was gothic, creepy and insanely sexy!! At times I didn’t know what to make of it. It started off feeling like a scary paranormal story but as the plot thickened it turned out to be more of a suspenseful thriller that packed a mighty punch in the steam department. Having read only a couple of books by J. Lynn Armentrout that were outside of the LUX series, I forgot that she definitely knows how to deliver the sexy and then some. I found myself in need of an ice-cold shower after reading some of the steamier bits in the book. While the pace of this story was a little too slow for my liking, the suspense, mystery, and steam were what kept me fully vested in it.

Julia Hughes is leaving her home in Pennsylvania and her job as a nurse in a local hospital to move to New Orleans where she will be a live-in nurse in charge of caring for a young woman who is in some sort of comatose condition. On the night before her departure, her friends take her out to a bar to celebrate. She ends up meeting a devastatingly beautiful man who for some strange reason seems to be attracted to her. Julia decides for one night she’s going to be adventurous and bring this guy back to her place for a night of unadulterated pleasure. She has the most erotic night of her life but the two quickly part ways as this was only to be a one-night stand. Julia, however, can’t seem to get the man off her mind.

When Julia arrives at the lush estate of her new employer, she finds out their true identity. She had no idea that she would be caring for Madeline de Vincent. The de Vincent’s are known for being one of the wealthiest families in the U.S., and the three brothers, who are each insanely gorgeous, also are notorious for their debauchery. Endless amounts of scandals and tragedies follow this family wherever they go. When Julia has her first meeting with the de Vincent brothers, it’s as if she’s been punched in the gut because the man she had the romantic tryst with is standing in front of her. Lucian de Vincent is the youngest brother and wildly known for the countless number of women he’s seduced. Julia feels like she’s been played and is the biggest fool. But Lucian never meant for things to get out of hand with her. His intention was just to meet with her and make sure that she was the right person to be in charge of caring for his twin sister. From the moment he saw Julia, he couldn’t control the desire he was feeling for her.

For a big chunk of the story, they have a hate/love vibe going on between them. Julia believes that Lucian is nothing more than a flirtatious playboy who is out to make her one of his conquests and then will quickly be over her once he has his way. Lucian has other plans in mind for her. He is completely enraptured by Julia and tries his hardest to win her affections.

Aside from the romance building between Lucian and Julia, there is the recent suicide by Lucian’s father that is currently plaguing the brothers because the police have determined that it was murder and not suicide after all. The plot thickens more and it all surrounds Maddie de Vincent who mysteriously disappeared ten years ago, the night their mother died, and then all of a sudden resurfaces in some severe catatonic state. Unexplained deaths and mental instability make up the morbid family history of the de Vincents.

REVIEW – A CRACK IN EVERYTHING (Cracks Duet #1) by L.H. Cosway

SYNOPSIS

Life used to be simple.

I was a city girl with humble dreams. Then Dylan O’Dea broke into my flat, held me against the wall and told me to stay quiet.
It was like in the movies, where the universe zeros in on a single scene. I looked into his eyes and knew he was going to change me.

For Dylan, the sky was always falling. He showed me how our world is a contradiction of beauty and ugliness. How we choose to ignore the awful and gloss over it with the palatable. How you need just a tiny drop of something unsavoury to create every great scent.

Pretty deep for a pair of teenagers living in a block of council flats in inner city Dublin, right? Probably. But we weren’t typical. We both had our obsessions. Mine was growing things, Dylan’s was scent. He taught me how to use my nose, and I introduced him to the magic of flowers.

I had no idea that one day he’d build an empire from what we started together. But before that, there was love and happiness, tragedy and epic heartbreak…

My name is Evelyn Flynn and I’m going to tell you about the crack in everything.

A Crack in Everything is Book #1 in L.H. Cosway’s Cracks duet.

FIVE STARS *****

Another beautiful masterpiece by L.H Cosway. Like every other story that I’ve ever read by this author, A Crack In Everything took hold of my heart from the very beginning. The beautiful characters, especially Sam, made an everlasting impression on me. Outstanding read!!!

A beautiful friendship that ends in tragedy, another friendship that turns into love. Pain and heartache can change your future in only one minute. And the only memory of that love can be the beautiful smell of a flower.

The way he spoke made me feel a sense of urgency, like I was watching a person race somewhere far beyond the horizon. I could try to follow, but I’d never be fast enough. Maybe that was the allure of Dylan O’Dea. He wasn’t meant for a place like this, and he wouldn’t be here long. I could feel it in my bones.

The ”Cracks Duet” is a tale of first loves, loss, and second chances. As always L.H. Cosway has created a story that reeled me in and held me captive. There are some amazing characters, but my heart completely melted for Dylan O’Dea. He’s a book boyfriend who will undoubtedly sweep many readers off their feet!

Dylan and Evelyn are two high school students who live in a low-income housing development in a town whose inhabitants are working class citizens who are barely making ends meet. There’s very little hope for a promising future for kids born into these circumstances, but Evelyn is filled with light and optimism. She looks for the good in everything. Evelyn makes a beautiful oasis by cultivating a rooftop garden where she plants her favorite flowers. At seventeen years old, she’s never had a serious boyfriend and when the mysterious and beautiful boy who lives in her building starts to show interest in Ev, it’s unfathomable to her.

Ev had only three people whom she held dear to her heart, her Gran, her Aunt, and her best-friend Sam. Dylan starts to become an integral part of her life and while it excites Ev, it also terrifies her because she knows that there is no way their love can last. Dylan is a brilliant student with a superhuman sense of smell. On the weekends, he works at a department store, selling high-end perfume. His dream is to someday create his own fragrance line. Dylan wants to leave Ireland and move to the U.S. so badly, there’s no question that he’s going to make his dreams come true. But there’s one thing he wants even more, and that’s for Ev to come with him. Ev is stubborn and adamant about staying where she is so that she can care for her Gran. She’s hiding behind that excuse because deep down she’s afraid to take a chance and a personal tragedy has burned out the light that used to radiate from within her.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Heroes: 5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4.5
Angst: 4
Steam: 4
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4.5

The first installment ends in massive heartbreak. You will need a box of tissues and be prepared for the ugly cry.

Will Dylan and Ev find their way back to each other? One can only hope. 😊

REVIEW – BAD FOR YOU (Dirty Deeds #3) By J. Daniels

I wasn’t nothing to her, and I did not fucking understand that, but fighting her, fighting this…I couldn’t do it.
How the fuck could I stay away? How could I go back to being nothing to everyone when what she was offering felt so fucking good?
You put food in front of a starving man, he’s going to eat it. No matter if he thinks he deserves it or not. It was about survival.
And Shayla was keeping me alive.

BAD FOR YOU, without a doubt, is going on my “Best of 2018”shelf! I’m kicking myself because I should have been reading this author’s books a lot sooner! This book had it all—beautiful broken hero, phenomenal heroine, and a story that will absolutely melt your hearts! I can’t tell you how many times I had tears in my eyes! I kept looking at my progress, hoping that I wasn’t nearing the end! Now, this is how you write a story!! I promise you, this is a book that deserves all the stars and you will not regret picking this one up!

Sean Molina has never had an easy life. When the story first opens we witness his struggles as a young boy. Being a victim of child neglect, he had to fend for himself for the very basic necessities of life that no child should have to be without. Sean learned early on that his mother was never going to provide for him or give him the loving and nurturing environment that he so deserved. He had to steal food and clothing just to survive and later on in life he would turn to a life of crime because that’s all he had ever known. He made one huge mistake which landed him in prison but his biggest regret was that it took him away from his two little girls.

After serving his time and getting released from prison, he’s determined to live his life on the right side of the law and to make something of his life for his two girls. He ends up getting a job as a cook at a restaurant. It is there that he meets Shayla…the woman that would change his life completely.

Shayla is full of life and love. She’s got a dream of opening her own hair salon and it’s just within her grasp. She is so beautiful inside and out. I really loved this character! From the moment she saw Sean, she had fallen hard. In the beginning, they would share some quiet time together at the restaurant and she enjoyed her conversations with Sean. But then she tried for more with him and it scared Sean. Sean has the worst self-confidence and in his mind, he wasn’t good enough for Shayla, and so he pushed her away. For several months things were strained between them until one night he catches Shayla crying and he can no longer stay away.

Sean comes to Shayla’s rescue when she needs it the most and he proves to be her biggest comfort and the most dependable person in her life. Now that she’s witnessed the beauty that’s within him, she is prepared to fight when he again, tries to push her away. Sean is no match for the 5’2” spitfire who wants nothing more than to shower him with love and to show him that he could never be NOTHING. Years of being told that he was nothing by his mother, really damaged Sean’s psyche. Shayla does everything she can to convince Sean that he is someone worthy of the good things in life…especially love.

Little by little and piece by piece she helps to put his life back together. If anyone deserves to be labeled a Saint, it would be Shayla. Her love is healing Sean and he knows that he needs to hold on to Shayla and never let her go.

But you know that whenever things are going perfectly for a couple, there’s always something lurking around the corner that’s ready to tear their world apart. And I knew what was coming but how it all ends? Now that I didn’t expect and well it was the cherry on top of an already perfect story!!

4 “I Wanna Be Yours” Stars!

Shayla Perkins is a beautiful 23 yr. old woman living in Dogwood Beach. She works as a waitress at Whitecaps Restaurant picking up as many shifts as she can so she can save money. For as long as she can remember she’s wanted to work for herself as a hair stylist. That dream is suddenly becoming a reality. So while things are going great professionally, her personal life is lacking. She’s completely infatuated with the cook at her work. Sean “Stitch” Molina is sexy, silent, and unavailable. She’s tried to be done with him since he rejected her, but then he shows her kindness by helping her out of a bind, and everything changes.

Sean Molina hadn’t been offered many chances in life. Nobody had ever cared about him. If he wanted or needed something he took it. He’d done bad things, and paid the price. Now he had been given an opportunity with his job at Whitecaps, and he couldn’t screw it up. He wanted to work hard, and change his path. To make up for his past mistakes. He’d tried to stay away from his co-worker Shayla because he thought she deserved better than him, but when he see’s her upset, he can’t turn away. His good deed gets him involved in her life. They begin spending time together & he has trouble keeping his feelings for her to himself. Soon they fall for each other, and can’t fight the pull between them, but things get complicated because Sean doesn’t think he’s deserving of anything good. When you grow up being told your nothing, it’s hard to accept something so special and real. Will Sean continue to push Shayla away, or will he accept the love she’s offering?

-No one had ever looked at me the way Sean did.

-The man had a stare unlike any stare. Equal parts intense and intimidating. But his eyes, sweet mother of God, his eyes were unreal, this rich, golden copper color. And when they were on you, you didn’t just see that beauty- you felt it.

-“I haven’t been this attracted to someone my entire life, I don’t think. I like everything about you.”

-I was someone to her, and fuck, did that mean everything.

This was a beautiful, emotional story about the power of love and how it can heal you heart & soul. I really enjoyed this book, and love this series!

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Once upon a time, a mere mortal fell in love with a rock god. You probably know this is not a fairy tale by now. Mortals and gods don’t mix.

MIDNIGHT BLUE is an enemies to lovers romance between an ultimate bad boy British rocker and a feisty and eclectic American girl. The blurb of this book is what enticed me to want to read it. I have a thing for British book boyfriends and the cherry on top was that he was a Rock God as well. I wasn’t expecting this to be so far from a swoony romance. Alex and Indie’s love story was dark and tumultuous and Alex was the epitome of an over-indulgent douchebag! It was very hard to even like his character. I tried but he was just a bit too prickly for me. Indie was the more likable character out of the two.

Indigo Bellamy has been living with her older brother, sister-in-law, and baby nephew for the past couple of years. Her parents were killed by a hit and run driver. Her brother, who had a promising pro football career ahead of him, dropped out of college in order to take care of her. Things have been pretty dismal for her family lately. Indie’s brother is jobless and has turned to drinking. His bitterness over their parent’s death is slowly tearing their family apart. Indie is desperate to find a job that will pay her enough money to help her brother and his family. She answers an ad in the paper for an undisclosed celebrity that is in need of a special personal assistant. Turns out the celebrity is none other than Alex Winslow, one of her favorite musicians. He’s about to start a world tour and the music production company wants him to stay clean and deliver a highly successful tour or he’ll be sued for millions. Indie’s job would entail being his personal babysitter. Her sole purpose is to ensure he doesn’t drink or do drugs.

Alex has scared off several “babysitters” so far and he goes above and beyond at being cruel and rude towards Indie in order to scare her off as well. But he’s met his match because she’s determined to finish the job in order to get the $300,000 paycheck that is coming to her after her three months are up. Her family needs this money desperately and she’s not about to let a spoiled and self-absorbed idiot stop her from fulfilling her duties.

After many failed attempts at running Indie off, Alex starts to see there’s so much more to the feisty little woman with blue hair and eclectic fashion sense. She starts to become his muse and during the many nights they spend together in the hallway between their hotel rooms, the lyrics are pouring out of Alex at warp speed that he can hardly get them down on paper fast enough.

During this time Alex is also constantly throwing out sexual innuendos towards Indie. He’s relentless in his pursuit but everyone also knows, including Indie, that he’s still crazy in love with his ex and that even though she’s engaged to another man, he is planning to win her back. Alex makes no promises of love and Indie knows that if she goes down this road with him, there isn’t any way that her heart will not belong to him. When Alex is finally able to seduce Indie the sex is crazed, rough, and far from romantic. I thought that Indie deserved more because she wasn’t anything like the random women Alex used in the past. While it seemed that he was using her to pass the time with until he could get his ex back, it was hard to deny that something significant was building between them.

A crazy twist is thrown into the plot and at first, it seemed so random. I thought it was a bad move by the author to do this but as everything unfolds it becomes clear that nothing is random in this story and that it was pivotal for the story’s and character development.

REVIEW – THRIVE (Guardian Protection #2) by Aly Martinez

SYNOPSIS

Technically, you aren’t supposed to fall in love with your best friend’s girl.

But if we’re talking technicalities, he wasn’t supposed to be cheating on her every other weekend, either.

The day I met Mira York, I knew she was off-limits. But after months of stealing side-glances while he ruined the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen, I realized there wasn’t a rule in the world I wouldn’t break to make her mine.

She chose him anyway.

I wasn’t sure how I’d ever move on, but bitterness turned into fuel for my fire.

Without Mira, I thrived.

Until seventeen years later, when she showed back up, begging for protection from the very same man she’d left me for all those years earlier.

Now, it was my turn to choose.

And she wasn’t going to like my answer.

THRIVE takes place seventeen years AFTER a love triangle.

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

When a man hits rock bottom, one of two things happens.
He withers.
Or he thrives.

”THRIVE” is the sexy action-packed second installment of the ”Guardian Protection” series. Its trope is one of my top favorites–second chance romance. There is cheating involved but the fact that everyone involved is guilty of infidelity should make it easier for those who normally steer clear of this topic. I really enjoyed this one a bit more than the previous book.

Jeremy Lark and Mira York became the best of friends nearly twenty years ago while Jeremy was an Army Ranger and Mira was dating his best friend Kurt. Kurt was a spoiled rich kid that Jeremy has known since his early childhood years. He’s not the greatest guy and fidelity is a word that has never been a part of his vocabulary. During the many nights that Kurt was off cheating with different women, Jeremy and Mira would hang out as friends and talk about their hopes and dreams. Eventually, things turned intimate and they each had no clue that what was building between them was for more than just physical attraction. You’d think that after spending so much time together and throughout the many conversations they shared that they would have discussed their feelings, but that never happened. When they are ultimately confronted by Kurt and Mira is asked to choose between them, fear of not being loved by Jeremy has her picking the wrong man.

Jeremy hit rock bottom after Mira’s rejection. It wasn’t until he crossed paths with the co-founders of the Guardian Protection agency that his life took a turn for the better. But no matter how hard he tried, even marrying another woman…he couldn’t get over the one woman that took a piece of his soul. He feels as if his world his tipped off its axis when he gets a call out of the blue from Mira asking for his help.

The last seventeen years have not been easy or happy for Mira. She knew from the moment she chose to stay with Kurt, that it had been the biggest mistake of her life. Kurt got kicked out of the army and soon after turned to a life of crime which unbeknownst to Mira, he hadn’t kept her safe from his dirty dealings. After almost sixteen years of marriage, Mira finally divorces Kurt, but he’s not done infecting her life when one morning she wakes up with a gun to her head being held by one of her ex’s business associates. He kidnaps her little chihuahua and best friend and gives her three days to launder $750,000 or they wind up dead. Feeling overwhelmed, she can only think of one person to turn to. The man that she has never stopped loving–Jeremy.

Jeremy is anything but warm and comforting at first. He’s got almost twenty years of pent-up hurt and anger towards Mira. To survive his heartbreak, he had to turn to hate. His cold demeanor is like a knife through Mira’s heart. As the story progresses we learn that Kurt pissed off some very powerful criminals and Mira is in far worse danger than they initially were led to believe.

As Jeremy and Mira are forced to spend an enormous amount of time together, the hurt and anger start to subside, will they be able to confess their true feelings for each other? Will the couple get their second chance when there are threats against Mira’s life lurking around every corner?

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

REVIEW – KEEP HER SAFE by K.A. Tucker

SYNOPSIS

Making a Murderer meets Scandal in this story of police corruption, family secrets, and forbidden desire from bestselling author K.A. Tucker, celebrated for her “dark, twisty tale[s]” (Lisa Gardner, author of The Killing Hour) filled with “clever twists and turns” (Publishers Weekly).

Noah Marshall has had a privileged life thanks to his mother, the highly decorated chief of the Austin Police Department. But all that changes the night she reveals a skeleton that’s been rattling in her closet for years: she doesn’t deserve her commendations or her medals—in fact, she deserves to be locked behind bars for what she did to a fellow officer to save her own reputation. When she finally succumbs to the guilt of destroying an innocent family’s life, she leaves Noah alone to carry the burden of this shocking secret, which she makes him vow never to share.

Gracie Reynolds wasn’t born into trailer park life, but after ten years of learning how to survive in The Hollow, it’s all she knows anymore. At least here people don’t care that she is a byproduct of a white mother and a black father. And they certainly don’t care that her dad was a corrupt Austin cop. Here, she and her mother can almost forget the shame he brought upon them…until a man who clearly doesn’t belong shows up on her doorstep one night, asking questions.

Together, Noah and Gracie set out to uncover the truth about the Austin police department’s dark and messy past—but the scandal they uncover is bigger than they bargained for, and goes far higher up than they ever imagined.

Complex, gritty, sexy, and suspenseful, We Sold Our Souls solidifies K.A. Tucker’s reputation as one of today’s most talented new writers of romantic suspense.

*****4.5 STARS*****

My stomach tightens as my mother’s voice fills my head, reminding me that it’s not just money that she wanted to give Abe’s daughter. She wanted to fix this. To give Gracie peace of mind. A coat of polish for the tarnished memory of her father. A chance to know a different truth.

KEEP HER SAFE was a mystery filled with nail-biting suspense. There is romance but this one is very low on steam. The plot is what makes this book insanely entertaining. The entire time reading this I was trying to figure out the truth and it was like being on a crazy roller coaster ride with no end in sight. Everyone appears to be a suspect, the only two people who I knew were innocent were Noah and Gracie, the Hero and Heroine. We get alternating POVs during the present between Noah and Gracie, and then we are given clues through alternating POVs from the past between Noah’s mother and Gracie’s deceased father. Each travel back in time brings us closer to the truth, but I didn’t see that jaw-dropping reveal at the end coming!!

Noah’s mother, who was the Chief of the Austin police department has just committed suicide. He’s devastated because it happened right after he had a disturbing chat with her while she was clearly intoxicated and in a bad way mentally. While meeting with his mother’s lawyer to go over her will, he gives Noah an envelope which contains a letter from his mother. The letter is brief. It instructs him to go to a hidden safe she had in their pantry and she asks him to take what’s in it to her old partner’s daughter who now lives in Tucson. Abe Wilkes and Noah’s mother used to be the best of friends and Abe was more of a father figure to Noah then his own dad. But something happened in the past that destroyed their friendship and whatever it was it had Noah’s mother turning to alcohol to numb her guilt and regret.

Noah takes the $98,000 and Abe’s gun holster, which is what was in the safe, and he heads out on a road trip for Tucson to deliver them to Gracie Wilkes. When he makes it to her home, he’s shocked to see she is living in a run-down trailer park. He’s also struck by what a stunning young woman she’s become. Noah shows up when he’s needed the most. Although their first encounter is extremely hostile since Gracie assumes he is one of her mother’s drug dealers, he turns out to be her hero when he saves her mother from their burning trailer. When he tries to give her the money, Gracie wants nothing to do with is as she believes all the reports of her father being a crooked cop who died in a drug bust gone wrong. Gracie is a very bitter young woman since she and her mother have lived a hard life since her father’s death.

When the FBI shows up questioning Gracie’s mom and then a box filled with old photos and newspaper clippings that her mom had been hiding resurfaces, Gracie starts to have hope that her father was wrongly accused. Noah battles internally over helping Gracie find the clues they need to prove her father’s innocence because he fears that it will result in tainting his mother’s reputation when the truth is revealed. But Noah is starting to have feelings for Gracie and he also loved her father a great deal so not helping Gracie isn’t an option.

REVIEW – SEEK by Mia Sheridan

SYNOPSIS

Wealthy socialite Olivia Barton never imagined her fiancé would disappear on what was supposed to be a routine business trip. She’s even more heartbroken and confused when a hired private investigator tracks him half a world away, to a seaside town in Colombia. But the country has recently been ravaged by a massive earthquake and deadly tsunami, shutting down outside communication and making travel all but impossible. Still, Olivia is determined to make it to Colombia to find the answers she so desperately seeks. What she needs is a guide—a mercenary.

The man named Thomas arrives in shadows, an unmistakable air of danger about him, promising to help lead her through the ruined, crime-infested country. But when Thomas and Olivia find themselves fighting an undeniable attraction, danger takes on a whole new meaning. Then again, in the lush jungles of South America, all the rules are different and Thomas and Olivia are about to discover that sometimes the thing you seek, isn’t necessarily the thing you find.

Seek is a STANDALONE novel with a small, fun connection to the Sign of Love Collection

That truth had finally made itself fully known last night as I’d given myself wholly and completely to another man—not just my body, but my heart, shared myself in a way I’d never shared myself before. A man who lived anywhere and everywhere, a man who wasn’t available to me, but a man I was in love with all the same.

SEEK is a fast paced, action packed and steamy romance. Olivia Barton is on a mission to find her fiancé who has been missing for nearly six months. There have been rumors that he’s hiding out in Colombia. Looking for answers and possibly closure, Olivia enlists the help of Thomas, a mercenary for hire and ex-Navy Seal, to be her guide and protector through the treacherous Columbian terrain.

They will face several dangerous criminals while on their journey and many times it seemed as though Olivia’s plan to find her fiancé was going to end up being a huge mistake. Somewhere along the way, the two end up having a passionate affair, but how can it lead to anything more when Olivia’s main reason for being in Columbia is to find her fiancé?

A bombshell is dropped and it wasn’t anything that I came close to predicting. For those of you who are die-hard fans of Mia Sheridan, she gives us a little treat in this story. We are reunited with one of her most beloved Heroes from one of her previous books!!

4 Stars!

-Life was a constant reminder that only the strong survived.

Olivia Barton is a beautiful, elegant woman living in Las Vegas. She was adopted as a child by a wealthy family, & has led a somewhat privileged life. She’s engaged to be married, and thinks she’s about to have everything she’s ever wanted. Then her fiancé Alec disappears, and she begins to question how well she actually knew him. She fears he had secrets, but she needed some answers, or she’d always wonder. Committed to fighting for him, or at least getting closure, Livvy decides she will head to the last place her PI tracked him to, a small oceanside town called Palomino, that’s on the Caribbean Coast in Columbia.

Livvy hires a former Navy SEAL named Thomas who is a mercenary/ soldier for hire, who mostly does contract work for the government. His job is to safely get her to Palomino, & help her locate her missing fiancée. She’s unfamiliar with the dangerous area full of crime, and doesn’t speak the language. Thomas will be her guide and protection in a foreign country.

Thomas initially thinks he’s going to be backpacking through the jungle with a prissy, city girl. He soon learns Livvy has a kind heart, and is stronger than she looks. He’s trying to keep things professional and focus on the job, but he’s extremely attracted to his client. He’s taken responsibility for her on this five day journey, and can’t afford for things to get personal.

Livvy is insanely attracted to her intense, gorgeous guide. Thomas is slowly opening up to her, and she’s seeing a new side to this tough, closed off man that she really likes. The sexual tension grows till they finally can’t fight it anymore. Everything suddenly changes between them as feelings develop, and real connections are made.

This was a fantastic story full of action, intrigue, secrets, lies, love, and explosive chemistry. There were lots of twists & turns, and it was an exciting, sexy read. Really enjoyed this one!

-“This night will always be ours.”

-This woman. The feel of her. The scent of her. I felt wild, completely untamed, shaking with a need I’d never known before. The need to claim.

-I was lost in him, lost in the joy of his taste, the calming scent of his skin. Safety. Goodness.

-I melted into him, my body, my heart.

*****FIVE STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

This. This is exactly why she’s here. I may not understand people, but I certainly understand this. Electricity buzzes below her surface. She’s not someone who fits inside a mold. People like her are rare. People like her deserve to find others who share that same buzz.

This is why I can’t ever stop reading K. Webster’s books. You never know what she’s going to throw at you next. The blurb to this story doesn’t reveal too much and I’m thankful for that because going into this story practically blind seemed to only intensify my enjoyment. I love it when the plot and flow of a story are flawless, that means there is never a moment where I’m not fully entertained. This is definitely going down as my top favorite book by this versatile author.

MY TORIN is a beautiful love story that at times will be heartbreaking but in the end, it’s also very uplifting. There isn’t any graphic violence and although there are some scorching steamy bits in the book it’s very tame compared to some of K. Webster’s other stories and actually, I think it suited this story. There was no need for raunchiness and I think it would have tainted the story if it had been included.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Heroine: 4.5

I know that I didn’t summarize the story and really that’s because I want you all to be able to get the same experience that I had. This one is so good, you will not be able to put it down!!

4.5 Unique Stars****

A book unlike any other. True K.Webster style, this book will play with every single one of your emotions. A story that will continue to play in your mind even days after you’ve finished reading it.

Two brothers who love each other fiercely, willing to do anything for one another. One woman desperate for a place to belong. A dark and eerie castle with no windows but full of hot passion, and love inside.

Can love survive in the silence? In the dark? From the past and into the future?

And remember, if you lick it, it’s yours…

Sexy, enigmatic, and a simply stunning read.

REVIEW – SEX, NOT LOVE by Vi Keeland

SYNOPSIS

From #1 New York Times Bestseller Vi Keeland, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.

My relationship with Hunter Delucia started backwards.

We met at a wedding—him sitting on the groom’s side, me sitting on the bride’s. Stealing glances at each other throughout the night, there was no denying an intense, mutual attraction.

I caught the bouquet; he caught the garter. Hunter held me tightly while we danced and suggested we explore the chemistry sparking between us. His blunt, dirty mouth should’ve turned me off. But for some crazy reason, it had the opposite effect on me.

We ended up back in my hotel room. The next morning, I headed home to New York leaving him behind in California with the wrong number.

I thought about him often, but after my last relationship, I’d sworn off of charming, cocky, gorgeous-as-sin men. A year later, Hunter and I met again at the birth of our friends’ baby. Our attraction hadn’t dulled one bit. After a whirlwind trip, he demanded a real phone number this time. So I left him with my mother’s—she could scare away any man with her talks of babies and marriage—and flew back home.

I’d thought it was funny, until the following week when he rang the bell at Mom’s house for Sunday night dinner. The crazy, gorgeous man had won over my mother and taken an eight-week assignment in my city. He proposed we spend that time screwing each other out of our systems.

Eight weeks of mind-blowing sex with no strings attached? What did I have to lose?

Nothing, I thought.
It’s just sex, not love.
But you know what they say about the best laid plans…

5 She’s My One Stars!

-“You look in the rearview mirror too often, sometimes you miss what’s right in front of you.”

Natalia Rossi is s gorgeous 28 yr. old divorced Italian woman living in New York. She dates, but doesn’t really put herself out there since men only ever let her down. She’s happy with her job as a behavioral therapist, & has a close family, and great friends. When her best friend Anna is getting married, she heads to California for the wedding. She’s introduced to the grooms best friend, Hunter Delucia, and sparks fly. Hunter lives in LA, and is a commercial builder who has a degree in architectural engineering. They share an instant crazy attraction. Hunter is sexy, confident, charming, and extremely blunt with his dirty mouth. He doesn’t hide how much he wants Natalia, and is very direct about wanting to explore their insane chemistry. Not ready to let anyone in, Nat shares some fun, flirty banter and a few hot as hell kisses with this delicious man, and then boards a plane, and returns to her life in New York.

Not one to give up, Hunter is persistent, and chases after Natalia for almost a year trying to wear her down. He still wants her desperately & when he takes a two month assignment in her city they cross paths again. He works hard to remind her of the fire between them when they touch, and to sell her on the no strings mutually beneficial fun they could have together. Just sex, no love, & an expiration date. Sounds perfect until feelings develop. Can they walk away once the heart becomes involved?

-“I think you stole a piece of my heart the first night we met.”

-I was utterly and completely lost in this man.

I adored everything about this book! It reminded me why I enjoy reading a story by Vi Keeland. She creates men that make me swoon & smile like crazy while reading. This book had so much humor, was super sexy, & has a man you will absolutely fall in love with. Hunter Delucia totally stole my heart!

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****4.5 STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

I used to think Hunter Delucia had stolen a piece of my heart. But I was wrong. Because eventually, even the heart stops beating. This man stole a piece of my soul—because the soul lives forever, and so will my love for this beautiful man.

SEX, NOT LOVE, the latest by Vi Keeland, has yet another absolutely perfect book boyfriend who is sure to steal your hearts. Hunter Delucia has that signature brand of cockiness and charm that Keeland continuously delivers in her stories. The story deals with some pretty heavy subject matter and there are a lot of heartbreaking moments to endure. This was not a romantic comedy but still as fabulous as the author’s previously published books.

Hunter and Natalia are two people who have a phobia of commitment. They each have something in their past that has them holding back from giving themselves completely to another person. They meet at their best friend’s wedding where Hunter is the best man and Natalia is the maid of honor. From the start, these two have insane chemistry and the flirtatious sexual banter between them, which is mostly coming from Hunter, heightens the anticipation for the couple to connect. But theirs isn’t a quick and easy path to hot and steamy sexual gratification and ultimately love. Hunter lives in California and Natalia resides in NYC. Also, Natalia is putting up all of her defenses because she refuses to let another beautiful man wreck her heart, and she knows going down this road with Hunter is guaranteed heartbreak for her.

Hunter is a very determined man. He always gets what he wants and Natalia’s repeated rejection only helps to motivate Hunter to up his game. When the walls eventually come down, the passion they create is like nothing they’ve ever experienced before. The problem is while they agreed that what they had was exclusive but strictly for fun when the time comes to end things, Natalia’s heart has been invested while Hunter wants to stick to the agreement.

All of his actions are telling a different story. It’s clear that Natalia has stolen his heart but for some reason, he’s unwilling to give their love a chance. The past is holding him prisoner and has stolen his ability to hope.

Will Hunter be able to let Natalia go when all is said and done?
