Her voice is meek with a hint of desperation, like she’s been waiting all her life for this one kiss, for my lips to be pressed against hers. And for one of the first times in my life, I’m scared. I’m scared of what this kiss might do to me, of how it will change me as a man, because Adalyn isn’t just any girl. She could be THE girl for any lucky son of a bitch. No doubt in my mind she’s someone you only come across once in a lifetime, and fuck if I’m not nervous to take the next step, to see if my gut reaction is right, that this girl is my game changer.

 

Ever since ”Three Blind Dates”, I’ve been ANXIOUS to get my hands on Hayden’s book! Most readers were in love with Beck, “the rebel” from ”Two Wedding Crashers”, but I’ve always been a goner for a hot hockey player!! I was so crazy about him that I couldn’t see the lack of chemistry between him and Noely in book one. However, I knew this man was something truly special and I think I might love his story the most out of this truly amazing series! Get ready for some gut-wrenching angst and make sure you have a box of Kleenex handy because I guarantee you, tears will be shed. This is by far the most angsty and heartfelt story in this trio of amazing books!

 

 

The story takes place a little before the timeline in ”Three Blind Dates”. Hayden is currently playing for the Philadelphia Brawler’s who just lost their shot at the Stanley Cup playoffs. Feeling bummed and needing some time to himself, he decides to make a trip back to his old hometown of Binghamton, where he catches up with his old buddy from high school, Racer. Racer is still one of my top favorite heroes created by Meghan Quinn and he’s as funny as ever in this story. While at Racer’s house for a “welcome home” party, Hayden runs into Adalyn and is instantly knocked off his ass. We met Adalyn in ”My Best Friend’s Ex”, she is Emma’s close friend from nursing school. Adalyn and Racer became really good friends and he feels overly protective of her, and so he warns Hayden to stay away from her. But his warning only ignites Hayden’s interest that much more.

Soon enough Hayden and Adalyn start secretly spending time together since they don’t want to deal with Racer’s wrath. It’s a slow and torturous burn between them as Hayden is the one who delays anything sexual happening between them. He’s really crazy about Adalyn and wants to take things slow so that whatever is building between them

 

 

Adalyn is the problem in this coupling. One thing about Meghan Quinn’s heroines, you either LOVE them or HATEthem, and I was leaning towards a strong dislike to hatred for Adalyn. She’s never really had a relationship with a man because she hasn’t stayed with one long enough to see how things could work out. It was clear from day one that Hayden wasn’t like any of the other guys she’s been with. Her fears were completely baseless.

It took an eternity before they became intimate but holy hell was it sure worth the wait!! Just when things seem to be going perfectly for them, the couple is torn apart and I blame Adalyn for all of it. After she finds out that she’s pregnant I end up disliking her, even more, when she decides to keep the news from Hayden.

 

 

There’s a tremendous amount of angst and drama when Adalyn’s close friend, Logan, is added to the mix. Logan is always there to support Adalyn and from day one, Hayden has despised him. Will another man and thousands of miles between them, doom Hayden and Adalyn’s relationship forever?

This book was INCREDIBLE in my opinion. I loved the plot, the steam, and most of all I fell head over heels more in love with Hayden. He made this book a “Five Star” read for me. Even though I don’t think Adalyn was good enough for him and I wanted to throw my iPad against the wall because of her, I couldn’t help but be consumed by this book!

”HOT ASSET” is the first installment of Lauren Layne’s ”21 Wall Street” series and it’s looking like this is going to be another huge hit for this talented author. Each book focuses on a different ”Wolfe of Wall Street”. They are three of the hottest and devilishly handsome investment bankers in New York City. They are notorious players but from what I can tell they each have a woman in their lives that pushes their buttons and we are in for some yummy ”enemies to lovers”romances.

Ian Bradley is a self-made millionaire. He owes his success to hard work and determination. Nothing came easily to him in life. To the outside world, he may seem like an overindulgent douche but the few people who really know him can honestly say that he’s one of the good ones. He is, however, notorious for his reputation as being a “player”. Ian has never slept with any woman more than once and that’s because he’s never felt a connection to anyone before. The moment he meets Lara McKenzie, Ian knows he’s in big trouble. He’s inexplicably drawn to her and unfortunately for Ian, Lara is an SEC investigator assigned to find incriminating evidence to prove that he’s guilty of insider trading.

 

 

The two spend most of the story at odds with each other since Lara’s mission is to convict Ian of a crime he didn’t commit. It would seem virtually impossible for these two to become romantically involved but this wouldn’t be a good romance if they didn’t end up falling in love. The problem is, Lara is determined to get a conviction because it’s guaranteed to get her promoted to an FBI agent. Love can’t come first for Lara since her career is her main focus.

 

 

Can Lara follow through on her investigation when the future of the man she’s in love with is in jeopardy? Will she really be able to choose her career over her happiness?

I can never allow myself to forget what caused the rift between Marek and me in the first place He left me. He decided he didn’t love me anymore. He wanted a life without me. A life with other things that weren’t me.

 

 

The Cold Fury Hockey still remains one of my favorite Sawyer Bennett series! I can’t believe it’s been four years since “ALEX” was released and we’re up to the eleventh book!! I hope it never ends. I was worried for a while that MAREKwas going to be a “let down” for me but luckily, I was won over towards the end. Marek is not a likable character. For most of the story, he walks around with a huge chip on his shoulder and is a complete ass! He is definitely not my favorite Cold Fury player, BUT, this one is filled with Ms. Bennett’s delectably steamy scenes and I’m a sucker for a good “second chance romance” with a guaranteed HEA.

Marek and Gracen were high school sweethearts and madly in love. Several years later as Marek is graduating from college, he gets recruited by an NHL team. He didn’t want to be tied down and so he leaves Gracen behind…brokenhearted. Fast forward three years later and the two find themselves in each other’s lives again when Marek goes back home to stop his first love from making the biggest mistake of her life by marrying the wrong guy. Marek is in for a huge surprise when he finds out that he is the father of a precocious three-year-old little girl. He’s beyond furious with Gracen for keeping Lilly a secret from him thereby cheating him out of being a father to her from the very beginning. He brings Gracen and Lilly back home with him to Raleigh so that he can spend some time with his daughter.

For almost three-quarters of the story, Marek behaves like a petulant man-child. He’s often belligerent and cruel to Gracen and throws the fact that she deprived him of three years of being a father every chance he gets. It was getting old really fast. But, these two have incredible sexual chemistry and they have a hard time staying away from each other. Just when things start to look promising Marek goes and messes everything up yet again with his utter stupidity. He’s one of the most clueless characters in this entire series. While Marek walks around not really knowing his true feelings, Gracen has never stopped loving him but won’t allow herself to have hope because he obliterated her heart once before. She’d never be able to survive that kind of pain again.

Will they ever be able to move beyond the feelings of hurt and betrayal from the past?

When I’m around you, I say things I’d never say. I want things, things I’m willing to do anything to get. I also want to be everything you deserve.

 

 

I’m in LOVE with the “lighter” side of Aleatha Romig. Granted I’ve never read any of her dark romances, and I do happen to enjoy those every now and then, but RomComs are my first love!! I wasn’t expecting this story to win me over so completely the way that it did. I might even love this one more than the first book and I was pretty crazy about “Plus One”! This was a sweet, sexy, second chance romance that stole my heart completely.

 

 

I loved the Hero, Trevor Willis. He’s not like most of the leading men in romance novels. Trevor is a handsome specimen of a man but he’s shy, quiet…reserved. He doesn’t have the smooth moves when it comes to women, but one night, he meets a beautiful woman at a hotel piano bar and something about her calls to him. There’s an instant and undeniably strong spark between them. Gone is the shy and awkward man and in his place is a sexy, charismatic and sweet alpha male who only Shana Price can awaken in Trevor. Shana and Trevor’s night together before Kimbra and Duncan’s wedding (the couple from “PLUS ONE”) is told in the free novella ”SECRET ONE”. It’s definitely worth picking up and is a very quick read. Timing is everything and it just wasn’t right for the couple when they first met. Their careers kept them a continent apart and attempts to keep in touch became futile.

One year later, it’s as if fate steps in and is determined for the couple to reunite. Shana is in NYC for two weeks to help out the lingerie division of “Saks Fifth Avenue” for their show during fashion week. If all goes well, she might get a promotion and the chance to move from London to New York. Trevor moved back to New York recently for his job and during a night out with his friends he can’t believe it when he sees Shana! When they run into each other again at a bar later that same night, Trevor knows he can’t let the beautiful woman who has never left his thoughts over the past year get away again. Shana is just as happy to see Trevor but worries about letting him into her heart. She’s afraid she’ll lose a bit of herself if she falls for Trevor, and if she were honest with herself she’d have realized she fell for him a year ago.

 

 

Shana’s apprehension is no match for Trevor’s determination. He knows that she’s the one that got away and this time he’s not letting her slip through his fingers. ANOTHER ONE was incredibly sweet and deliciously steamy. I just could not get enough of Trevor and Shana’s story!

REVIEW – ARROGANT DEVIL by R.S. Grey

Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.

My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.

Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.

Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.

Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.

Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.

Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.

It feels like we’re going fast, but there’s no slowing down, no going steady. This moment has been weeks in the making. I’ve written a thesis in my head about the things I’d like to do to her body.

 

 

I am an R.S. Grey “fangirl” for LIFE!! I love her stories and ”ARROGANT DEVIL” is going up there as one of my top favorites by this amazing author!! No one pulls off the ”enemies-to-lovers” trope as perfectly as she does! I devoured this book!! Absolutely loved the heck out of it! The chemistry between Jack and Meredith is ”WHITE HOT” from the start and Grandma Edith was a true spitfire and an utterly endearing character!

Meredith has always been considered a ”pampered princess”. It seemed that things always came easy for her. When she married one of Hollywood’s most successful producers and was living a glamorous lifestyle, she was the envy of everyone. Then one day she goes from having it all to basically only owning the clothes on her back. She’s left her husband who spent the better part of their marriage verbally abusing her and tearing her down any chance he got. During the five years with her husband, she isolated herself from family and friends because she didn’t want them to know how truly miserable her life was. Now, with barely any money on her, she has no choice but to seek help from her older half-sister who lives in Texas. Unfortunately, her sister is in Paris on a month long vacation with her husband and while Meredith may not have a close relationship with her sister, she does help her get a job at Blue Stone Ranch.

Blue Stone Ranch is owned by Jack McKnight, a handsome but insanely arrogant man. He’s overly abrasive and feared by most of his employees and the residents of the small town of Cedar Creek. At first, he’s anxious to hire Meredith because her sister is her personal assistant and one of his most valued employees, but when Helen paints a less than favorable picture of her sister, Jack is reluctant about hiring her. He goes out of his way to be extra rude and mean towards Meredith but there’s nothing he can do or say to her to make her quit because she needs this job more than anything.

As time moves on, Jack starts to see what everyone in Cedar Creek and his grandma Edith has noticed from the start—Meredith is a sweet gal with a warm heart. Her personality shines brightly and she even wins the heart of his dog Alfred.

For most of the story, Jack tries to keep his distance from Meredith. He’s got a misguided opinion of her, thinking that she’s a poor little rich girl that is messing with the heart of her devoted husband and that any second she’s going to run home to her posh Hollywood lifestyle. But he’s not the only one who’s got the wrong idea about how things really are. Jack has suffered tremendous loss in his life and he carries the pain deep in his heart. He’s built up walls to protect himself from ever letting anyone become important in his life so that he never has to suffer that loss again. Meredith starts to see that deep down, Jack is a really good guy who would do anything for his loved ones.

There was an extremely slow build to the romance between Jack and Meredith. I’m not going to lie, I was nearly dying for things to finally happen between them, but boy was it worth the wait!! I actually think the anticipation made the story even more entertaining!

Take it slow, my brain tells me. Run with it, and run as far as you can go. I’m an athlete—a champion. I play hard and jock harder, and these little games I’ve started with her? I’m playing to win.

 

 

JOCK ROW, the first book in the ”Jock Hard” series was FABULOUS! This story had just about everything I LOVE in a good sports romance. The Hero is every woman’s dream come true. Rowdy Wade is beautiful, cocky, funny, but most of all he has a big heart. You can’t help but fall in love with him. Rowdy and Scarlett start off as enemies but quickly turn into friends and although it did seem as though there was a little bit of “insta-love” happening, it didn’t negatively impact the plot.

While the Hero of the story is one of the most popular jocks on campus, the Heroine, Scarlett, is what would be considered a “wallflower”. She’d much rather spend a Friday night alone in her apartment, binge-watching something on Netflix with a glass of wine, instead of going to a house party on “Jock Row”. She’s practically dragged by her two best friends to a party at the baseball team’s house where she soon gets labeled a ”cock blocker” by a couple of guys. Scarlett gets escorted out of the house by the captain of the baseball team, Rowdy Wade. Their banter is comical and at first, I wasn’t sure if Scarlett was going to be a likable Heroine but as the story progresses she becomes lovable.

 

 

Scarlett and Rowdy make hanging out on the front porch of the baseball team’s house a Friday night ritual. Every Friday, Scarlett tries to attend one of their house parties and Rowdy keeps her from entering the premises, but they spend those nights playing games and getting to know each other and neither of them seems to care that they are missing out on all of the party shenanigans.

 

 

Rowdy thinks Scarlett is a one of a kind girl and he loves that she isn’t falling all over him because he’s a popular jock who has a definite shot at going into the major leagues. She’s into him for the person he is on the inside. Each day that they spend together Rowdy is starting to become enamored with her, not only for her character but she also happens to be a “knock-out” but keeps her beauty hidden under all the layers of clothes she wears during the freezing Iowa winter season.

When Rowdy starts making the moves on Scarlett, she is completely dense at first. Never in a million years did she think he would be interested in a girl like her. She sees him as being ”too good to be true”. Relationships have never been easy for her and Scarlett is used to guys playing games but Rowdy isn’t like any of the guys she’s dated before. He’s beyond smitten with Scarlett and is determined to win her heart.

I DARE YOU had the key elements that I love about sports romances– a sexy and cocky Hero with brains and wit, and a sweet & silly Heroine. I really enjoyed this one and am looking forward to what’s to come in this new series.

Delaney Shaw may be considered a nerd with her passion for the movies “Star Wars” and “The Princess Bride” and her eclectic wardrobe, but early in her freshman year at Waylon University, she catches the eye of the most popular football player, Maverick Monroe. Their paths cross briefly at a frat party which ended with a brief but toe-curling kiss. Unfortunately, two years will go by before they get their chance to be together.

Delaney has broken up with her cheating boyfriend and vows to swear off all football players until Maverick starts to show up almost everywhere she goes. He’s had a huge crush on her for quite a while and now that she’s no longer dating one of his teammates, he is not wasting this long-awaited opportunity.

Wanting her is the equivalent of running with scissors. In a word, she’s dangerous. Wanting her this desperately could put an end to the closest friendship I’ve got, and worse than that, I sense she could leave me brokenhearted.

 

 

BRO CODE is a sweet and sexy ”in love with the older brother’s best friend” romance. I loved both the Hero and Heroine and found the plot to be entertaining, and the story progression was well paced. This story had a lot of heart on top of scorching hot steam and there’s even a good dose of angst to top it all off. This is the reason why I remain a faithful fan of Kendall Ryan.

 

 

Barrett Wilson has a successful career as a lawyer for one of the top firms in Chicago. He’s on the fast track to making partner. He’s put in a lot of hours for the firm which has meant that his personal life has had to be placed on the back burner. When he goes back home for the weekend for his best friend’s dad’s retirement party, there’s one person he is equally anxious and dreading to see at the same time. Nick’s little sister… Ava Saunders. Barrett has had a secret crush on her for years but knows that she is ”Off Limits” due to the unspoken ”Bro Code”. The moment he sees Ava again, Barrett knows he is royally screwed because she is even more beautiful than he remembered and his code of honor is weakening fast!!

 

 

Barrett isn’t the only one feeling the intense attraction. Ava has had a huge crush on Barrett for as long as she can remember. Romances with Hollywood actors are one of my favorites and Laurelin Paige delivered with this one. There is not a doubt in my mind that her fans are going to fall in love with her latest Hero, Tanner James. I could not get enough of this character and am a little sad that this is a standalone because I wouldn’t mind spending more time with him.

It’s been ten years since Tanner James and Jenna Stahl were Hollywood’s ”IT” couple. You’d think that ten years would be enough time to get over the pain and regret from the past, but neither Tanner nor Jenna have been able to move on completely from their time together. They were each other’s first loves when they were still teenagers and just starting out in their careers. Now after so many years apart, they are about to be thrown into each other’s lives again when they land the leading roles in a romantic comedy which is being directed by one of Hollywood’s most sought-after and hottest Directors. This man made her want things she’d never imagined before. She craved to delve into and explore every layer of him and open herself up again. She knew almost nothing about this man, yet her heart whispered she knew all the important things.

 

 

THE MARRIAGE ARRANGEMENT is a prequel to the ”Marriage to a Billionaire” series. While it didn’t quite measure up to some of my favorites in this series, I still enjoyed catching up briefly with some of the well-known characters before they end up with their true loves. We learn that the Heroine, Catarina Winsor, is the first one to discover the ”Book of Spells”, and then we are able to deduce how it winds up in the other Heroines’ hands later on.

Ripley Savage is a successful businessman, who has made a name for himself all on his own. Once he went off to college, he left his painful past behind him. Rip has never felt the loving support of family until he winds up working at Winsor Winery. He helps Edward Winsor rebuild his empire that was nearly bankrupt and is treated more like a son than an employee by the Patriarch. Rip is more than disappointed when Edward tells him that he is retiring and can’t turn over the business to him unless he marries his only daughter, Catarina. He feels that he has proven himself beyond measure and that the winery is rightfully his, but it is a family owned business and Edward is bound by legalities to give the winery to a blood relative. So Rip decides to fly off to Milan to meet Catarina and see if he can win her heart but asks Edward to keep his identity and arranged marriage situation a secret from his daughter. Edward agrees but advises that he’ll only give him a week before he tells Catarina all about their plans.

Catarina has been burned by love and is not sure she’ll ever be able to trust another man. Needing to get away from her home which held too many reminders of love lost, she flies off to Milan, where she has been for the past year, trying to find herself again. It’s been way too long since she’s been with a man and Catarina feels it’s time to get back in the game. She takes a chance on love with the ” book of spells”she recently purchased. She can’t believe her luck when she meets a tall, dark and handsome stranger at a local café she visits often.

The two can feel something spark between them that night and it’s unnerving. Rip has also been hurt in the past and has avoided romantic entanglements ever since. He wasn’t expecting to feel such a visceral attraction to Cat and he’s also pleased that she has turned out to be far from the ”privileged princess” that he had originally pegged her to be. He knows he’s in deep trouble when his feelings grow strong for her so quickly.

How will Rip be able to win Cat’s heart once she learns his true identity and the reason for his arrival in Milan?
