Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.
I would know.
They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger
brother Evan be the one to shine.
Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.
The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.
My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.
And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.
In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}
All of me is under his spell. I need Will Hollister, and whatever hurt I felt is nothing compared to the things his touch can do to me. I am numb. I am his.
I would have to categorize HOLD MY BREATH as a forbidden romance & friends to lovers story. Although after certain secrets are revealed, the “forbidden romance” aspect all but evaporates. I’ve read a few of Ginger Scott’s books and I can see a reoccurring theme in them. One of her main characters always experiences some sort of adversity and love is what ultimately heals them. The hero is beautiful and extremely broken. You can’t help but fall for this character. I found the heroine to be misguided with regards to her resentment towards the hero in the beginning of the story but once she opens her eyes to the truth I feel that she fully redeems herself.
Will Hollister has returned home after having fallen from grace for a while. He did survive something truly horrifying. He was on his family’s private airplane with his parents and younger brother when it crashed. Will was the only survivor. The extreme guilt and depression that seemed to consume him, had him turning to alcohol and even drugs for a means to escape. Unfortunately, since he was once an Olympic swimmer he is considered a celebrity and so his angst made for some scandalous tabloid fodder. But almost a year later, he has cleaned up his act and he’s come back home in hopes of trying out for the Olympics-bound U.S. swim team. There’s also the added bonus that the girl he’s always been in love with will also be training at the same camp that he will be at. Maddy Woodsen has been Will’s secret crush for years. When he finally had the courage to confess his feelings to her, his brother, Evan, beat him to it. Maddy and Evan ended up becoming a couple and Will was left with a broken heart.
Maddy has been mourning the death of her ex-boyfriend for over a year. The thought of Will coming back to her father’s training camp has her feeling mixed emotions. The irrational side of her blames him for surviving. She along with many others, view Will as the “bad” Hollister brother. But in reality that couldn’t be any farther from the truth. When she finally sees Will for the beautiful person he is, old feelings that she too, kept buried, come up to the surface, and maybe Maddy realizes that she picked the wrong Hollister brother back when they were all teenagers.
Their relationship develops rather quickly but Will fears that he will lose Maddy when she ultimately finds out about the secret he has been keeping from her. Will is practically a martyr. I often felt like this character had already gone through one of the biggest tragedies of his life, and to add to his suffering was just cruel and unusual punishment. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse for him, the author goes and adds a nice little cherry on top. That was one of the reasons why this became a four-star read. There was just too much suffering to be had for the Hero and I thought it was overkill to have such a lovable character go through more than his share of adversity. Although the author explains why she tortured our hero so much at the end of the book, I still wished that she could have cut that last gut-wrenching bit of the story out.
Can Will and Maddy’s relationship survive once his secret is revealed? When tragedy strikes again, can Will remain strong and not let the demons from the past send him on another downward spiral?

EXCERPT:
The song breaks for a guitar solo, and I count the seconds, knowing that she’s going to slip away the moment everyone in here begins to clap. I won’t ask her to dance again. I won’t torture myself or push my luck. But I’ll remember this. As bad of an idea as it is, I’m glad I did it. So many painful memories woven into this place, I needed this one good one. It might just be the best memory I have out of everything in my life. I feel her shift in my arms, and when I pull away slightly, Maddy’s chin pushes into the center of my chest, her eyes blinking slowly while she looks up at me. Two shots and a beer are about to talk to me right now. I smile softly and nod.

SYNOPSIS:
Seduce the teacher.
Meet the cousin.
Make a deal.
Steal the painting.
Andrea Anderson has no clue of the thoughts churning around in the dark and dangerous ex-con’s head as he enters her classroom. In fact, she’s momentarily lost for words. Not in her entire teaching career has she had a student who looked quite like Stu Cross.
A widow at just twenty-eight, love is something Andie hasn’t considered a part of her life for a very long time. However, when lingering touches turn to whispered words and hot, searching stares, she begins to wonder if maybe she should take a leap of faith.
But Stu is in her class for a reason, and it has nothing to do with love. He’s there to burrow his way into her life and repay a debt, otherwise his family will suffer. Andie is the first person to show him true kindness since he left prison, and though he doesn’t want to mislead her, he doesn’t have another choice.
Before long, Stu can’t tell whether or not he’s acting anymore, and his feelings for Andie could throw all of his carefully crafted plans into complete and utter disarray.
*****Dee’s Review*****
5++++ Heart Stars*******
(ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review)
Once again another one of the Cross brothers has stolen my heart. Sweet and edgy, this novel was a great addition to the already wonderful series. Each book can be read as a standalone but together they make the most amazing books and an all-time favorite series of mine.
Andrea Anderson; teacher, widow, twenty-eight years old, and deeply in debt. Having lost her husband to cancer at such a young age was one of the hardest things she’s ever had to face. He left her feeling empty and with so much debt from all the medical bills, that she’s having a hard time finding the light at the end of the tunnel. Andrea lives with her cousin Alfie in a tiny apartment and she teaches adults at a local collage.
Stu Cross; sexy bad boy, thirty years old, newly released ex-con. One condition of his parole is that he needs to enroll in school, but Stu’s in Andrea’s classroom for other reasons, meeting the beautiful teacher and getting to know her better.
Stu has a plan, a live or die plan that he needs to complete or his family will pay the consequences. What wasn’t part of the plan was how deep into the beautiful brown eyes of Andrea he was going to fall. And Andrea had no idea she could have feelings again after losing her husband, let alone for a gorgeous bad boy like Stu Cross.
“Stu Cross made me feel alive. So much that it took him coming into my life to make me realize I hadn’t been living. I’d been imprisoned in the past, hiding behind a future that was lost to me.
“Just be my soft place to fall. I need you.”
This novel had so much heart, so much soul, that it is impossible not feel it, deep within you. The loyalty and love between the Cross brothers, the bond between Andrea and Alfie, the chemistry of all the characters, everything was just so beautiful. I loved the contrast between how edgy and strong Stu was, and Andrea’s softness and charisma, a stunning combination that made the most amazing novel.
A story easy to enjoy and to relate to, a book that everybody would love…

”You’re not invisible like you think you are,” he whispered, eyes holding mine intensely.”You’re beautiful. So beautiful. I see you.”
L.H. Cosway has fast become one of my automatic must read authors!! I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series and that didn’t hinder my enjoyment of reading THIEF OF HEARTS because each book can be read as a standalone. I do have every intention of getting to the ones I’ve missed!! I have to admit, I didn’t really read the blurb, because like I mentioned this author is just an automatic one-click for me. I loved all the British slang, the quirky secondary characters, the sweet & unassuming heroine, but most of all I loved the brash and sexy hero who had the gift for dirty talk. Stu Cross is yet another book boyfriend that has been added to my favorites list!!
Andrea Anderson is a professor at a local college where she teaches continuing education courses for adult students. She was widowed at the ripe old age of twenty-four when her husband died of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Her husband’s outstanding medical bills have left Andi in dire straits. She’s been living in a basement apartment in a less than safe neighborhood with her cousin because it’s all that her salary can afford her. Andi has become an expert at hiding her money troubles from her family and dodging the over-zealous bill collectors who come knocking on her door. Her love life has been non-existent because she hasn’t been able to move past the pain of losing her husband. Things are about to change for Andi when a new student is enrolled in her class.
Stu Cross is a convict who was sentenced to prison for committing grand theft auto. He’s out on early parole for good behavior, but one of the stipulations for being on parole is that he must enroll and attend the local college. Or that is what he leads Andi to believe. From the moment he enters her classroom, Andi is captivated by Stu. His extremely handsome exterior and intense focus on her has Andi feeling more than hot and bothered. She rejects his advances time and time again because first off, he’s her student, and secondly, she thinks that he’s just trying to get a passing grade in her class. Andi doesn’t believe there’s any other reason Stu could possibly be attracted to her. But Stu’s persistence pays off and soon these two are throwing caution to the wind and giving in to their desires. OMG!! Was I more than a bit hot & bothered myself. LH Cosway can most certainly write some hotter than hell sexy scenes!!!
But things are not what they seem. Stu comes clean with Andi and confesses that the reason he enrolled in her class was so that he could get close to her which in turn would result in him meeting her cousin Alfie. Alfie is an artist who can recreate just about any famous painting and Stu’s in need of his skills to pull off a heist. There’s a crime boss in prison that Stu owes his life to and also if he doesn’t deliver on this heist, Stu’s family could be in danger. Andi is heartbroken, thinking that Stu’s affections were all just an act but he swears that his feelings are genuine and soon enough Andi’s defenses come down again.
Does Stu truly have feelings for Andi or is he a superb con-artist? Will they be successful in pulling off the heist or will they both land themselves in prison? You’ll need to pick this one up if you want to get the answers!! What a fantastic journey that LH Cosway takes us on!!!!
