BT Urruela is a combat wounded amputee, Purple Heart recipient, contemporary author who has written both independent and traditionally published books. He is a RARE under 40 award recipient, Rockwood Summit High School and Rockwood School District Hall of Fame inductee, Co-founder and Brand Ambassador for VETSports, Ambassador for Tampa Sports Academy, People Magazine Tribute for Heroes winner, Cover Model, Motivational Speaker and Philanthropist.

At an early age, he began writing short stories having been inspired by reading books authored by RL Stein. His maternal grandmother’s bookshelf was filled with literature that inspired his young mind and cultivated his vivid imagination.

Upon graduation from high school, his desire to have a 20-year military career was cut drastically short by an improvised explosive device. Taking the life of his commander, and leaving the remaining four-team members badly wounded.

After careful consideration and multiple surgeries, he along with the guidance of his doctors made the decision to amputate. It was the only surgery he ever left with a smile on his face, as if a weight had been lifted. He struggled for two more years through 4-5 hours of physical therapy a day, five days a week to get adapted to his new prosthetic. He medically retired from the Army with high hopes. His focus on restoring his physical shape being the most eminent battle caused him to neglect his psychological state.

Meeting people was difficult and there were very few options for veterans to utilize that would stimulate friendship, and ultimately, allow communication barriers to be breached. After moving to Tampa, Florida, he co-founded the veteran community sports nonprofit, VETSports, with two other combat wounded veterans. It was their mission to change the way veterans transitioned back to civilian life through organized team sports, community involvement, and leadership opportunities.

After being invited to attend a photoshoot with acclaimed photographer Michael Stokes, he flew to California in December of 2014, with incredible excitement. His photos were so widely publicized that he soon gained exposure to the literary world like he had always dreamed of. That opportunity launched him into his present writing career. He co-wrote the novel ‘A Lover’s Lament with author KL Grayson. The following year he released first solo novel, ‘Into the Nothing’ and will be releasing Wicked Little Words with author Stevie J. Cole. He is now writing full-time.

Fans of dark reads will surely enjoy DARKEST BEFORE DAWN. I found Stevie J Cole’s writing in this one at times to be beautifully poetic. This story is quite gritty and often very hard to endure but ultimately it is about love, and how it defines us. Our need to be loved can sometimes drive us to do things we would never have imagined doing.

We are thrust right into a very intense and traumatizing moment for the Hero during the prologue. This event leaves a lasting impact on Max Carter’s life and ends up sending him down a very dark path. Years after the horrific night he lost both of his parents, Max is in the process of getting his life back on track. He’s no longer using drugs and has left his life of crime. Max goes to pay a visit to his little sister, Lila, and soon finds out that she has been missing for almost a week. When he goes to the police station to file a missing person report, he is told that his sister is a known drug addict and prostitute and that her case would be put at the bottom of the department’s list of priorities. Enraged by the lack of concern by law enforcement, Max decides to take matters into his own hands. He soon finds out that his sister was abducted and ultimately sold within the sex slave ring. Max comes face to face with his sister’s captor and now here’s where the story takes a bizarre turn, he has to then become the monster in order to find his sister.

Eighteen-year-old Ava Donovan was out with her boyfriend when she was abducted by two unsavory characters. She was then brought to some rundown looking house in the middle of nowhere and thrown into a dark and creepy basement. After about a week of being locked away in the basement with very little food or human interaction, Ava meets the man who will be her handler, the man who will play the ultimate mind games to get her ready to be sold as a sex slave, and that man is MAX CARTER!!!!! Our hero throws himself deep in the sex slave trade ring in hopes of finding his sister. He’s already been responsible for training numerous abducted women. They had all been prostitutes without any family ties but this time, it’s different with Ava. Ava comes from a very wealthy family with some rather unexpected ties that you’ll find out later in the story. Someone hired Max’s counterparts to murder Ava but they decided it would be more beneficial in the long run to sell her as a slave instead.

Max has reservations about going through with the plans to sell Ava since she is not like all the other girls and something about her calls to him. Ava also sees that there’s something deep in Max that she connects to and there’s also no denying that they both feel a strong physical attraction between them. As the two become more tightly bound to one another, Max realizes that there’s no way he can let anything happen to Ava but he still has the matter of finding his sister to deal with.

Things get seriously twisted and extremely bloody during the latter half of the story. Max and Ava will both go through more devastating turmoil. Will they be able to find an HEA when there is so much stacked up against them?

Tyler Westbrook once had a very bright future ahead of him. He had a full scholarship to NYU with plans in majoring in Law. But when Tyler moves to New York, he ends up partying too hard and loses his scholarship. Now he’s living in Los Angeles and is desperate to find a job that pays well. He’s been stripping at Male Revue and a customer, who happens to be a porn star, suggests that he meets up with her producer. Tyler ends up interviewing with the producer and lands the job. He never thought in a million years that his life would end up this way. He’s not exactly proud of what he’s become.

Jemma is an actress on a popular children’s tv show. A sex video of her and her ex-boyfriend, who is a famous rock star, ends up going viral, which also results in getting her fired. She’s desperate to find a new job but the stigma from that sex video follows her everywhere and roles become scarce for Jemma. She ends up interviewing for a job as a personal assistant for a very popular Porn Producer. He also happens to be Tyler’s boss. Coincidentally, Tyler and Jemma were childhood friends who became so much more during high school. They were each others first everything.

The two actually cross paths at a nightclub first and instant chemistry ignites. After getting totally plastered, Jemma goes back to Tyler’s place and these two have the HOTTEST time between the sheets ever!! But the next morning Jemma runs off and plans on never seeing Tyler again since he broke her heart into pieces all those years ago when he went off to college and stopped all communication with her. She’s in for a rude awakening when on her first day at work she gets to witness Tyler in action. It throws her for a loop but also enrages her because he failed to tell her that he was a porn star.

Tyler and Jemma are still very much in love with each other but how can they pick up where they left off when Tyler is a porn star and doesn’t plan on quitting anytime soon? Can Jemma overlook the fact that Tyler will be having sex with many other women while being in a committed relationship with her??

I really enjoyed this one, except for the unexpected MM scene that got thrown in there. MM is not my cuppa at all so I cringed a little when that bit crept into the story. It’s really a short blip, but still I could have done without it. I will say there is a funny scene towards the end having to do with MM that I did enjoy and at the same time it made me love Tyler more. This was a really short and entertaining story. Definitely worth one-clicking.
