Publishing Date: October 24th, 2017

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with the nanny.

When my wife left, she took the illusion of happiness with her, and I’ve been caught in a free fall ever since. For nine long months, I’ve been fighting to figure out how to be a single dad, how to be alone.

For nine long months, I’ve been failing.

When Hannah walked through the door, I took my first breath since I’d found myself on my own. She slipped into our lives effortlessly, showing me what I’ve been missing all these years. Because Hannah made me smile when I thought I’d packed the notion of happiness away with my wedding album.

She was only supposed to be the nanny, but she’s so much more.

The day my wife left should have been the worst day of my life, but it wasn’t. It was when Hannah walked away, taking my heart with her.

Excerpt:

Hannah

The first time I saw Charlie Parker, I didn’t see one thing at a time; I saw all of him. It was an assault on my senses, an overwhelming tide of awareness, and for a moment, the details came to me in flashes over what was probably only a few seconds but felt so much longer.

His hair was blond and gently mussed, his face long and nose elegant. I could smell him, clean and fresh with just a touch of spice I couldn’t place. I tipped my chin up—he was tall, taller than me, and I hovered just at six feet—and met his eyes, earthy and brown and so deep. So very deep.

And then he smiled.

He was handsome when he wasn’t smiling. He was stunning when he was.

I was so lost in that smile, I didn’t register the flying gob until it whapped against my sweater. Tiny splatters of something cold speckled my neck.

This was the moment the clock started again, and the sweet serenity slipped directly into chaos.

A blond little boy looked up at me from his father’s side with a devilish gleam in his dark eyes. The spoon in his hand was covered in blood-red jam and aimed at me like an empty catapult.

Several things happened at once. Charlie’s face morphed into embarrassed frustration as he reached for who I presumed to be his son. The boy—Sam, I guessed from the names I’d been given by the agency—spun around lightning fast and took off down the hallway, giggling. Another child began to cry from somewhere back in the house, and a bowl clattered to the ground, followed by a hissed swear from what sounded like an older woman.

I glanced down at the sliding, sticky mess against my white sweater and started to laugh.

Charlie’s head swiveled back to me, his face first colored with confusion, then in horror as he looked at the Pollock painting on my sweater.

“Oh my God,” he breathed, his apologetic, wide eyes dragging down my body. “Jesus, I am so sorry.”

I was still laughing, almost a little hysterical. I couldn’t even tell you why.

I waved a hand at Charlie, and he took my elbow, guiding me into the house as I caught my breath. Another crash came from the kitchen, and a little girl came toddling out into the entry, leaving powdery footprints on the hardwood.

Charlie’s face screwed up. “Sam!” he called, stretching the word, a drawn-out promise of consequences.

A riot of giggling broke out in the kitchen.

We both snapped into motion. I followed him as he scooped up his crying daughter and stormed toward the kitchen. The little girl watched me over his shoulder with big brown eyes, her breath hitching in little shudders and her small finger hooked in her mouth.

Charlie stopped so abruptly, I almost ran into him.

When I looked around him and into the kitchen, my mouth opened. I covered it with my fingers as laughter bubbled up my throat.

A bag of flour sat in the middle of the floor, the white powder thrown in bursts against the surrounding surfaces and hanging in the air like smoke. The floor next to the bag was the only clean spot, shaped like a small bottom—the little girl’s, I supposed. A bowl lay upside down, its contents oozing from under the rim and slung in a ring from ceiling to cabinet to floor, as if it had completed a masterful flip on its way to its demise. And in the center of the madness stood an older woman with flour in her dark hair and dusted down the front of her. Clutched under her arm was a wriggling Sam, offending spoon still in hand.

Her face was kind but tight with exasperation. “Please tell me this is the new nanny,” she said flatly.

“I doubt we could convince her to stay at this point,” he said with equal flatness.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

REVIEW – FROM THIS MOMENT by Melanie Harlow

SYNOPSIS

It was like seeing a ghost.

When my late husband’s twin brother moves back to our small town, I want to avoid him. Everything about Wes reminds me of the man I lost and the life we’d planned together, and after eighteen long months struggling just to get out of bed, I’m finally doing okay. I have a new job, an amazing support group, and a beautiful five-year-old daughter to parent. I don’t want to go backward.

But I’m drawn to him, too. He understands my grief and anger and guilt like no one else—and I understand his. Before long, that understanding becomes desire, and that desire becomes uncontrollable.

He says he doesn’t care what people think, and love can never be wrong. But life has taught me its cruelest lesson–love doesn’t always win.

If only my heart would believe it.

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****FIVE LOVE WINS EVERY TIME STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

”I knew the moment I saw you that you were the one. The one I’d always love. The one I’d always dream about. The one I’d always wish was mine.”

Up until I read ”FROM THIS MOMENT”, I had considered Melanie Harlow to be a pretty decent author. I’ve read a few of her books and really enjoyed them but this latest one completely captured my heart. This author has proven she belongs on my coveted favorite authors shelf. This story has a beautiful Hero, a Heroine that you will easily empathize with, and what bonds the two together is their devastating loss. Get ready to have your heart broken over and over. Be sure to have a box of tissues handy for the tears you will be shedding over this captivating love story.

Hannah Parks has been grieving over the unexpected death of her husband for nearly three years. She spends most of her time caring for her adorable six-year-old daughter Abby and working part-time as a cook for the Valentini’s bed & breakfast. Hannah has not been able to move on from the insurmountable feeling of loss that plagues her, and the only other people she spends time with are the women who are in her widow support group. She’s lost touch with old friends and keeps her distance from her In-laws because they’re a painful reminder of her dead husband. She gets the wind knocked out of her when she runs into her husband’s identical twin brother, Wes. Seeing her husband’s mirror image in the flesh is wreaking havoc on her heart. But when Wes asks if he could come visit with her and Abby, she reluctantly agrees, knowing that it isn’t right to keep her daughter from family.

Wes has been lost in his own grief over his brother’s death for the past three years as well. Twins share an indescribably strong bond and it’s been hard for Wes to accept that his partner in crime and best friend is gone. Wes quickly enlisted in Doctors without Borders after he graduated from medical school, which was also soon after his brother and Hannah married. What he’s kept a secret for many years is that there’s only ever been one woman who stole his heart, and that was Hannah. Wes actually met Hannah before his brother Drew did. He would often catch a meal between classes at the diner that Hannah worked at. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he was smitten, but Wes was incredibly shy and lacked confidence with women. His brother, Drew, was the complete opposite of him. Drew was the life of the party, ladies man, and cocky beyond measure. The moment Drew and Hannah met, Wes knew his chances with her were completely shattered. Wes loved his brother and was used to giving up things he loved to make him happy, but this was the one time it hurt more than anything to let his brother win. Unable to stay in town and bear witness to his brother and Hannah living in wedded bliss, Wes leaves the country and yet no matter how many miles apart or years that passed, his love for Hannah never diminished in the slightest.

Slowly Wes breaks through the seemingly impenetrable wall that Hannah had built over the years. Not only is Hannah growing accustomed to his presence, but so is little Abby. When Hannah is finally able to contemplate the possibility of moving on from the past and seeing Wes in a way she never did before, we’re left wondering whether it is because she views him as a substitute for her dead husband or if there are true feelings in her heart for Wes. They fight their attraction at first but when you’re dealing with years of pent-up feelings over someone, eventually the need for physical contact is just too overwhelming not to give in to. Wes and Hannah’s passion will set their world ablaze! Keep those fans close by because the heat is almost too intense to endure.

While Wes and Hannah discover an intense love growing between them, their journey to a happily ever after is not traveled down a smoothly paved road—there are many bumps, roadblocks, and detours they must face. Are they strong enough to weather the somewhat insurmountable obstacles that lay ahead?

I know some people might view Hannah as weak but I only had the deepest empathy for her. I understood why she closed herself off all those years and how taking another chance on love was truly frightening for her.

Wes and Hannah’s story was beautiful to its heartbreaking core. It is my new favorite by Melanie Harlow and one that I will surely read again whenever I get the opportunity to do so!

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 5
Heroine: 5
Plot: 5
Angst: 4.5
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

From This Moment, an all-new sexy and emotional standalone from USA Today Bestselling author Melanie Harlow is coming October 10th!

From This Moment by Melanie Harlow

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publishing Date: October 10th, 2017

It was like seeing a ghost.

When my late husband’s twin brother moves back to our small town, I want to avoid him. Everything about Wes reminds me of the man I lost and the life we’d planned together, and after eighteen long months struggling just to get out of bed, I’m finally doing okay. I have a new job, an amazing support group, and a beautiful five-year-old daughter to parent. I don’t want to go backward.

But I’m drawn to him, too. He understands my grief and anger and loneliness like no one else—and I understand his. Before long, that understanding becomes desire, and that desire becomes uncontrollable.

We make excuses. We blame our sorrow. We promise each other it will never happen again.

But it does.

And when our secret threatens to destroy his family and my reputation, we’ll have to decide what’s more important—loyalty or love?

Excerpt:

“Want to go out in the canoe?” he asked.

“Okay.” I ditched my flip-flops on the small, beach-level deck, and we set our wine glasses and the bottle on the deck’s little round table. Wes was already barefoot. Together we dragged the forest green canoe from the tall beach grasses on the side of the deck down to the water’s edge and tipped it over.

“Let me rinse it out a little,” Wes said, frowning at the dirt and spider webs inside. “Want to grab the paddles? They should be in the shed.”

“On it.” I went to the small shed on the embankment, opened it up and grabbed the oars, which stood in one corner. On the shelves were life jackets and sand toys and deflated rafts that probably had holes in them, and scratched into the wooden door among other graffiti was WP + CB. Huh. I’d never noticed that before. Who was CB? I glanced over my shoulder at Wes, who’d taken off his T-shirt and tossed it onto the sand.

My stomach full-out flipped.

Quickly, I shut the door to the shed and brought the oars down to the canoe.

Wes stood up straight and stuck his hands on his hips. He wore different sunglasses than Drew had worn, more of an aviator than a wayfarer. The body was similar, though Wes’s arms seemed more muscular, especially through the shoulder. Other things were the same and caused a rippling low in my body—the soft maroon color of his nipples, the trim waist, the trail of hair leading from his belly button to beneath the low-sling waistband of his red swim trunks. In my head I heard Tess’s voice. Arms. Chest. Shoulders. Skin. Stubble. Muscle. The smell of a man. The solidity of him.

“What’s the law on drinking and canoeing?” he asked.

What’s the law on staring at your brother-in-law’s nipples? I wondered, swallowing hard. What was wrong with me?

“I think we’re okay,” I said, handing the oars to him. Our hands touched in the exchange. “Let me grab our glasses.”

“Perfect. If you hold them, I’ll take us out.”

I retrieved the wine glasses from the table and walked carefully across the sand to the lake’s edge, taking deep, slow breaths. A sweat had broken out across my back. I was wearing a swimsuit beneath my cover up, a modest tankini, but I didn’t want to remove it. Wading ankle deep, I attempted to step into the canoe, but it wobbled beneath my foot.

“Whoa.” Wes took me by the elbow and didn’t let go until I was seated at one end, facing the other. “Okay?”

I nodded. Despite the heat, my arms had broken out in goose flesh.

“All right, here we go.” As he rowed us away from shore, the breeze picked up, cooling my face and chest and back.

“Drew and I used to have canoe-tipping contests.”

I snapped my chin down and skewered Wes with a look over the top of my sunglasses. “Don’t even think about it.”

He just grinned, the muscles in his arms and chest and stomach flexing with every stroke of the oars through the water. Momentarily mesmerized, I allowed myself the pleasure of watching him. It was okay if we were both thinking about Drew, wasn’t it?

In fact, it was only natural that I was intrigued by the sight of Wes’s body. He was my husband’s identical twin, for heaven’s sake, and I missed his physical presence in my life. I missed looking at him naked. I missed feeling the weight of him above me. I missed the feeling of being aroused by him, of my body’s responses to his touch, his kiss, his cock.

Deep in my body, the rusty mechanism of arousal creaked to life. My nipples peaked, my stomach hollowed, and something fluttered between my legs.

Oh, Jesus.

I sat up straighter, pressed my knees together, and closed my mouth, which I realized had fallen open. Hopefully I hadn’t moaned or anything. After another sip of wine, I turned my head and studied a freighter off in the distance. My heart was beating way too fast.

It’s only natural. It’s only natural.

Wes stopped paddling and set the oars in the bottom of the canoe, their handles resting against the seat in the middle. “We’ll have to bring Abby out here.”

“Definitely.” Did my voice sound normal? “She’ll love it. Here, want this?” I held his wine glass toward him and he reached out to take it. His fingers brushed mine, and I pulled my hand back as if the touch had burned me.

“Thanks.” He tipped the glass up then looked along the shore. “I’d like to find a place on the lake. Maybe not along this stretch of beach, though.”

I caught his meaning and smiled. “A little too close to home?”

“Yeah. But I don’t want to be too far away. I’d like to get a boat too.”

“What kind of boat? Drew always talked about it, but we never quite settled on one.”

“Not sure. Maybe just a little fishing boat, something to ski behind.”

“That sounds fun. Drew loved to ski.”

“We’ll have to teach Abby.”

I laughed. “You, not we. I managed to get up and stay up a few times, but I am not the expert.”

“You can teach her to cook, I’ll teach her to water ski.”

“Deal.” Separate activities seemed like a good idea.

“Breakfast was incredible.”

“Thanks.” I tucked a strand of hair that had escaped my ponytail behind my ear, but the wind blew it right back into my face. “I really like working there. I’m so glad Georgia suggested it to me.”

“How long have you been there?”

“Since spring, when they got busy. I’m not sure what I’ll do this winter when it slows down. I’m dreading it, actually. Abby will be in school full time, and it will just be me at home alone.” This was something else I hadn’t talked about with anyone, how worried I was that the gray skies and cold weather and silent hours would set me spiraling into depression. “I always thought I’d have another baby to take care of, but life saw things differently.”

“You’re still young, Hannah.”

I shook my head. “I’m really not. And I feel even older than I am.” Please don’t go Grief Police on me and tell me I’m being ridiculous, I begged him silently. This isn’t the life I chose. It was handed to me and I’m doing the best I can.

But he didn’t say anything more, just sipped his wine and looked out at the horizon. I was grateful.

“What about you?” I asked. “Think maybe you’ll get married now that you’re back? Have a family? Abby won’t have any siblings so she needs some cousins.”

“That seems to be a popular topic of discussion around here,” Wes said, shaking his head, “but I really have no idea.”

“Small town. We like to know everyone’s business.” I smiled. “Hey, what about CB? I saw your initials carved with hers on the door of the shed. Maybe she’s still around.”

He groaned. “Is that still there? Jesus. That had to be twenty years ago.”

Hugging my knees, I leaned forward. “First love?”

“Not even.” He hesitated, as if he were trying to decide whether to confess something.

“Come on,” I cajoled, carefully reaching out of the canoe, and splashing water toward him. “Tell me. I’ve been spilling my guts for an hour.”

“First kiss.”

I squealed. “And?”

He cringed. “It’s too embarrassing.”

“Wes, I had a completely humiliating breakdown in front of you last night. I got snot on my arm.”

“This is worse.”

“Get it out. You’ll feel better.”

“Let’s just say it was a very awkward, very fast experience.”

I gasped. “You lost your virginity to her?”

“No. Just my dignity.”

Laughing, I tilted my head back and felt the sun on my face, the wind in my hair, and something like joy in my heart.

It had been a long time.

BLOG TOUR – RACER (Real #7) by Katy Evans

SBPRBanner-Racer-BT

Racer by Katy Evans
Publication Date: September 28th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Racer, an all-new standalone in the Real Series from New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans is LIVE!

Racer Amazon.jpg

A bad boy with something to prove.

A woman with a mission.

The race of their lives.

The love of a lifetime.

I don’t think his parents expected him to live up to his name—Racer Tate—but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.

He’s the fastest, fiercest driver around.

Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep…

but his smile sends me to my knees.

The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He’s secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss….

This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I’m supposed to watch him—make sure he doesn’t get into trouble. But it’s an impossible task. And now the one in heart wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation…or your curse.

He says he wants me. He says I’m the One. But he also thinks he’ll break my heart, one piece at a time until it’s gone.

Excerpt:

I’m still reeling. While people approach him, he cuts a path straight to me, his gaze penetrating and target-like; making me want to bolt.

His lips do that little upward tilt they do that seems so sexy, and for a second, I feel like I’m lightheaded.

I gulp, and then feel mad at myself for acting like some idiot as fucking devil-Racer Tate reaches me, throws himself into a seat next to me, and turns to look at me expectantly with the most gorgeous grin on his face.

I don’t know what to say.

This guy has left me sort of speechless.

“So … ” I say, staring in the distance at his beat-up mustang, then at him.

“So … ” he says too, in his deep voice, his smile a little more wicked than it was two seconds ago. He glances at my mouth.

Oh god.

Why am I licking my lips?

It only made his eyes narrow and darken.

I open my mouth to speak, failing to find words. He smells like sweat and soap and shampoo, and I feel my traitorous nipples push up to my top again. Why do they do that when he’s around?

“This is illegal,” I state.

His voice is husky from exertion, and his eyes glint with laughter. “That’s why it’s fun.”

I look away from his eyes, trying to focus and clear my head. He leans over and peers into my face, his face shadowed by the moonlight and his jaw now carrying a little scruff. “Are we in agreement?” he presses.

“No.” I glare and shake my head, meeting his cocky gaze. “You’re reckless, Racer.”

“So are you, Alana.”

“It’s just … Lana.”

His brows fly up in surprise. “And a bit of a liar too.”

I purse my lips, still glaring as my gaze goes back to his car. Girls are rubbing against it as if it were him, and I find it disgusting. Why are women always acting so slutty around race car drivers and bad boys?

“You crashed your car,” I say flippantly.

“You crashed my car,” he contradicts, amused.

I laugh, then scowl in his direction. “You crashed it more. I can’t believe you were making such a fuss about me crashing into you when it was just a little kiss—”

He leans in to peck my lips—fast but firmly. “That’s a kiss.”

I lose my breath.

My eyes wide.

He eases back, lips smiling as he comes to his feet and stretches his hand out to take me by the elbow and help me to my feet.

“Let’s get out of here.” He starts walking, leading the way.

“And go where?”

“Anywhere I can get my hands on you.”

King of Code by CD Reiss
Publication Date: September 18th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

From New York Times Bestselling author, CD Reiss, comes a sexy tale of secrets, intrigue, betrayal, and a love worth crossing a continent for.

Taylor Harden is a man on the edge.

The edge of fame. The edge of untold wealth.

The edge of utter humiliation.

He built an unhackable system, and in front of everyone, it’s hacked.

His reputation goes from king to goat in a split second. Boom. Like that.

Some dude in Barrington, USA (AKA Nowhere) has locked down Taylor’s code, and if he doesn’t get it back, he’s going to be wearing a monkey suit for the rest of his life.

Except, this guy? This hacker from Nowhere? He’s not a guy.

Harper Watson’s all woman. And she has a plan for Taylor, his code, and his body.

Excerpt:

“About time!” the older lady shouted.

“Is Harper back?” I asked, handing the bags to the blushing redhead.

As if summoned, Harper came through the swinging door, keeping it open so everyone could get past. She looked at me through the screen.

“You coming in?” she asked.

“We need to talk.”

“Did the decryption key work?”

The door slapped closed behind her as she came out, and we were alone. The way the setting sun hit her cheeks made her glow, and the strands of gold hair at the edges looked translucent. She belonged on a postcard.

I kept forgetting she was holding me hostage. I kept forgetting I needed to think strategically. I had more at stake with this girl than I’d ever had with another.

“Did you doubt it would work?”

“Not really. I’m just making conversation.”

“What are the thorns about?” I pointed at the thorn bed that had eaten my phone and went down the stairs to the yard.

She came after me. “Don’t you have these where you’re from?” She snapped a dry twig off the end.

“Roses? Yes. Impenetrable, groomed thorn bushes in our yards? No.”

“It’s not normal to give the gardeners in town something to do?” We walked around the perimeter.

“You are not normal.”

“It still blooms in spring. It’s really nice. You should see it.”

We were at the back end of the yard, where the very top of the factory’s roof cut the horizon.

I took her hand, pulling her to a stop. “Harper.”

“Taylor?” Her hair flew in her mouth when she turned, and she drew her finger across her cheek to get it out.

What was I supposed to tell her again? That I knew we’d interviewed her. That I didn’t give her the job despite her having a leg up on everyone else we saw.

But was I contrite? Accusatory? Was I just going to relay information? What did I want out of her after I told her I knew?

“Thank you for helping today,” she said. “If you’d asked me when we met, ‘Would Taylor Harden help clean the factory?’ I would have said, ‘No, not for any reason.’ But there you were. Pushing a broom. Scooping up shit. Not being an asshole.”

“My watch was at stake.”

“Yeah. Whatever. You can say what you want to keep your reputation as a shithead intact.”

“I have a reputation as a shithead?”

“You know you do.”

I did know it, and I reveled in it.

She faced me and put her other hand out. I took it, holding both hands between us. I couldn’t help it.

“Well, you guys are such a bunch of sad sacks I had to help. And let me tell you, every guy in Barrington has a little asshole in him. Trust me. I’ve played pool with them.”

“I want to say…” She stopped herself as if she really didn’t want to say. “Let’s get together tonight and get you another decryption code. But… saying this is stupid.” She bit her lip.

“Say it anyway.”

“The sooner you get four codes, the sooner you leave.”

I looked at our hands so I wouldn’t have to look at her.

“I’m not sure if I want that,” she said.

About the Author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

*****Mel’s Review*****

5+++ “Let Me Love You” Stars!

-Not even winning feels as good as the drive. The moment I hit that pedal, I’m alive.

Lana Heyworth is a gorgeous 22 yr. old woman whose family is everything to her. She moved to Europe a few years ago with her dad & three brothers to start a Formula One team called HW Racing. They all gave up everything for this life, and they haven’t had a very successful racing career so far. This is her fathers dream, therefore it’s hers too. With their team on its last leg, Lana volunteers to find new talent. They’ve lost hope of winning, but she convinces them to give her a chance, & heads to St. Petersburg to scout possible drivers for their team. While there she collides with a hot guy named Racer Tate.

Racer Tate is the son of the famous fighter Remington Tate. He was raised to follow in his dad’s footsteps, but Racer was more into cars & speed. He lives for the adrenaline, and has serious talent. He has a reputation as the best & fastest driver. He enjoys his freedom & independence, and does what he wants.

Lana won’t settle for anything but the best & is a woman on a mission. Her family’s dream is to win the Formula One championship. After getting to know more about the mysterious Racer Tate, she thinks he might be their only hope. She’s found what she’s looking for & believes in him. She wants to put him behind the wheel of her fathers car, & is determined to ignore the way he makes her pulse race and her heart flutter. She’s intrigued by him, but has to keep things professional. If they are going to work closely together, she can’t complicate things by lusting after him. She wants to focus all her energy on winning.

Racer met Lana & knew she was the one. He can’t explain it, but he feels a strong connection, and is extremely protective & possessive of her. She’s the fixer, always taking care of everyone. He wants to take care of her, & make her his in every way. He’s going after her & has no plans of backing off.

-He’s seriously god’s handiwork. The natural selection process of evolution couldn’t be enough to produce something like him. He’s illegal.

-Something happened, something is happening- every second we look at each other, every breath he and I take.

-He looks at me as if he’s known me for a long time. Maybe, even, as if he’s waited for me for a long, long time.

-I don’t know what it is about her, but from the moment I saw her I wanted to claim, conquer, and own.

-This guy makes me greedy for those eyes of his, the way the blue turns a little more electric when he looks at me, and I’m both shy at the idea of those eyes seeing me, and at the same time, I’m excited about it.

The last thing Lana needs is to get involved with a driver, but she finds Racer’s presence both soothing & exciting. She starts to want him for herself as much as she wants to win the championship. She becomes obsessed with everything about him & feels drawn to him. There’s an undeniable chemistry between them, & once they touch they can’t get enough of one another. Lana is completely & thoroughly seduced by Racer, and has never felt so wanted. She craves & adores everything about him. He totally undoes her. He’s sexy, confident, reckless, charming, intense, demanding, real, powerful, & addictive.

This is my favorite book I’ve read this year! As much as I love Remy, I fell even harder for his son Racer. Racer is such a complex, beautiful person. He’s all alpha, but he’s also so tender. Like his father, when he falls, he falls hard & it’s all consuming. When he finds the one for him, he’s all in. He feels such a raw need for Lana, & won’t stop fighting until she’s his.

-“I don’t know what to do with you.”

-He smirks, shooting me a sidelong glance. “I know exactly what to do with you.”

-He starts to kiss me in ways I never knew a human being on this earth could be kissed, a kiss that touches every part of me, my lips and body, my mind, my heart, my very soul.

-Racer. My Racer. All mine, I think greedily. I want everything that he is, all for me.

-Can you love someone so hard that every part of your being feels it? Yes, my heart whispers.

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

I didn’t think I would ever find something like this ever again, much less that it could surpass it. I feel my heart almost burst open as I lie in bed cuddled up to this man who holds me to his chest now protecting me with his body against anything and everything. He lays over me as my shield.

RACER is the seventh installment of the ”REAL” series which focuses on Remy and Brooke’s son, Racer Tate. It seems that the apple has not fallen too far from the tree when it comes to Racer, except that instead of following in his dad’s footsteps and becoming an MMA fighter, he is one of the hottest and best illegal street racers in the country. But he is very much haunted by the same demons as his father and he is of a singular mindset once that special woman catches his eye.

Racer meets Alana Heyworth during a minor fender bender while fighting for a parking spot. The moment they meet there is this underlying but intense spark that neither of them expected or can deny, but Lana is in the states for a very important reason and she’s not about to let a possible romantic entanglement mess with her family’s future. Lana co-owns HW RACING, a Formula One team, along with her father and three brothers. When their mother left them and they found out their father was dying from cancer, the Heyworth’s all decided to sell everything they owned and put it all into their father’s dream of owning a Formula One racing team. HW Racing recently lost their star driver and Lana has made it her mission to find the absolute best driver to replace him.

Racer and Lana meet up a couple of times and although there is some intense flirting going on, more so on Racer’s side, he is able to impress Lana with his incredible driving abilities and soon he is flying off to Australia to become a Formula One driver. While Lana tries her hardest to keep things professional with Racer, she proves to be no match for his tenacity. He is determined to make Lana his and is pulling out all the stops to make that happen.

When Lana finally succumbs to Racer’s seduction, these two are practically burning up the sheets with their white-hot passion. While things seem to only intensify between Racer and Lana, they both have some demons that have the power to tear the lovers apart. Can Lana finally put the past to rest? Will Racer be able to trust that Lana can handle his darkness?

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 2.5
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5
