Together, we hover above the nothingness of the world. Like dragonflies. This space away from our world is the space where we belong. Together.

Mars McKinney and Sage Emerson come from two different worlds. Mars grew up in a trailer park in Duncan with his alcoholic and abusive father. Sage comes from a very wealthy family from the affluent town called Ashton Hills. It would seem as though they have nothing in common but actually they were like two lost pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly together. Both have parental figures who have made their lives miserable and they are both two very beautiful souls with artistic gifts. For nearly twenty years Mars and Sage have never crossed paths until they both end up attending the same college, and Mars gets a job as a barista at Sage’s favorite coffee house.

Their first encounter is sweet and what you would label a “meet cute”. Mars and Sage are undeniably drawn to each other and they set off on a sweet and innocent romance. For once in both of their lives, they’ve found someone who brings pure happiness and light into their world. But then weeks into their relationship Sage’s mom tries to come between them. As soon as she finds out who Sage is dating she forbids her from seeing Mars, and when Sage refuses and is caught with Mars again, her mother reveals the heartbreaking truth, that Sage and Mars are half brother and sister.

The truth of their shared bloodline nearly destroys them both. Mars and Sage are overcome with despair and grief. How can something that felt so right turn out to be so incredibly wrong? How will they be able to ultimately accept their new circumstances?

I really loved how this plot was written. This was far better than the previous taboo story K. Webster wrote with a similar theme. Mars and Sage’s love story started off innocent. There was nothing wrong with their intentions.

K. Webster is one of those authors who has the gift of being able to write just about anything. She doesn’t limit herself to just one genre. She also has a knack for writing some seriously steamy guilty pleasure reads, and that’s what these short novellas that are a part of her “Taboo World” are all about. Almost every novella is a scorching hot May/December romance between an eighteen-year-old girl and a man that is close to or in his forties. I can’t deny that I enjoy the naughtiness but I don’t always love the characters. Winter was, for the most part, an obnoxious teenaged girl and August was beyond crass. However, the passion between them does make for an entertaining read. This wasn’t my favorite story in this series but it did have its moments. I am hoping that the next book will be about the sexy doctor we met in “Enzo”, who also makes an appearance towards the end of this story.

“It’s in your best interest to comply,” I say calmly.

Her nostrils flare and her eyes become watery. “I don’t want to go back to sleep.” She bites down on one of her swollen pink lips. “If you don’t plan on letting me go home, can’t you just let me hang out with you?”

I blink at her, confused by her words, momentarily stunned by her vulnerability. After a second, I shake my nog to clear it. “No.”

She holds out both of her tiny palms as if she has the power to stop my massive frame. Small and delicate. Shaky. A bluish tint shades her slender fingers. Her teeth begin to clack together and I cock my nog to the side, curious at the sounds she’s making. When the sounds become louder, I worry she’s about to strike.

I straighten my spine, letting my sub-bones crack and pop as I rise to my full height. My ears flatten against my nog and I bare my double fangs at her. Whatever battle move she’s about to unleash, I’ll be ready. I’ve taken on sabrevipes with my bare hands. I can take down this miniature alien.

But instead of attacking me, she cowers, a terrified sob escaping her.

I frown at her, breaking my battle stance. “I can see you’re afraid,” I start, choosing my words carefully. She reminds me of so many of our people…from before. When they were all screaming and begging for their lives as The Rades wiped them out one by one. I squeeze my eyes shut, overwhelmed by the reminder.

Slap! Slap! Slap!

I blink my eyes open just in time to see her attempting to dart past me, her bare feet slapping the tile.

Lightning quick, I strike out and tangle my fist in her hair before she can get too far. A bone-rattling scream rips from her tiny body. She wiggles and squirms. Her claws, softer and more brittle than mine, rake across my cheek as she tries to free herself. She doesn’t break the surface but the sting remains. I grab her by her tiny arms and push her against the nearest door. Draven’s wild eyes watch the show from beyond the glass. When I glower at him, he disappears from my sight.

“Halt,” I order, my chest heaving from exertion.

Her throat bobs as she swallows. “Just kill me,” she says, her voice wobbling. “I’d rather be dead than be trapped in some coffin.”

I cock my nog to the side and study her lips. Once, Jareth ate a new species of flatshrooms Galen discovered and had a violent reaction. His lips swelled up like this untamed one’s. But his were never so intriguing. We jested at his expense until Avrell administered a treatment to heal him.

But these lips?

These are a visual snare, and I am caught.

She licks them.

Heat, fast like the flash of a magnastrike in a geostorm, strikes my lower belly. Like ultraviolet poisoning entering my bloodstream when I’ve spent one too many solars stealing extra seconds in the sun, it awakens my nerves as it travels to my cock. So many times I’ve stroked myself to release just to find a tiny inkling of pleasure in my bleak world. So many times.

And now, dark, forbidden thoughts of pleasuring myself in other ways begin to take root inside my mind.

As if sensing my physiological reaction to her, Aria licks her lips again. Her lids grow heavy and she gives me a sweet smile. A smile I want to taste.

A low rumbling builds in my throat.

WOW! It has been a while since I have read a science fiction romance and all I can say was that ”THE FORGOTTEN COMMANDER” was super steamy and so addicting! I couldn’t get enough of this story and am dying to get my hands on the next book! I hope that K. Webster and Nicole Blanchard will be able to deliver the same level of awesomeness in the future installments.

In this story, there are a group of ten alien males who live together on a desolate planet. They’re the last of their race and two of them come back from a search expedition with five human females who they found on what seemed to be an abandoned spaceship, in sleep capsules. This is a joyous discovery for the men as they were losing all hope of surviving. Now they feel they have a shot at saving their race by possibly impregnating these women. They try at first to artificially inseminate one for fear of catching any disease as that is what caused them to lose so many of their people in the past, but it doesn’t work. When the woman awakens, she is terrified by the pasty white alien vampire looking males she is surrounded by.

Breccan Aloisius is the commander in charge of the group of men and he instantly is drawn to the beautiful little alien. He decides to claim her for himself and at first, she fights him every chance she gets. Aria doesn’t know how she ended up in this strange situation. She just remembers having a hard life previously and turned to drugs to escape her despair. She has no idea how she ended up on that spaceship put under a constant state of cryogenic sleep either. She’s fierce and fights for her independence but she also can’t help that she is starting to develop an intense attraction for Breccan. For the first time in her life, someone is treating her like she’s their world. As if she is the most precious thing in his universe and she comes to realize that she is actually happy and hasn’t had one urge to turn to drugs to numb the pain.

Will Breccan and Aria be able to successfully procreate? When Aria demands that the other women should be treated with respect and that they have the right to decide who they take on as a mate, will Breccan and the men of Mortuus put their baser needs to the side?
