BLOG TOUR – A FAIRBANKS AFFAIR by Katy Regnery

New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery returns with the third book in her Odds-Are-Good series!

Three nights. Two of us. One bed. Zero chance at love.
Boston businesswoman, Faye Findley, has devoted the last decade of her life to work, leaving no time for romance. Tired of being a 30-year-old virgin, Faye answers an ad in The Odds Are Good magazine, hoping to turn over her v-card to a sexy Alaskan she’ll never see again.
Successful distillery owner, Trevor Starling, was left betrayed and broken-hearted when his brother and fiancée had sex the night before Trevor’s wedding. Anticipating a lonely New Year’s celebration, he places an ad in The Odds Are Good for a no-strings attached weekend of hot sex.
Though mistaken identity threatens to derail everything, the chemistry between Faye and Trevor turns out to be stronger than either could have imagined. And what started out as a one-and-done mission becomes much more complicated.

I worship Faye’s body every night. I touch and taste, explore and learn, pleasure and adore. Unreservedly. And she gives herself to me with a trust and generosity that humbles me and that I will never betray while there’s breath in my body.

”A FAIRBANKS AFFAIR” is yet another book to add to a long list of ones that I LOVE by the amazing Katy Regnery. Faye and Trevor’s story was sweet, incredibly steamy, and maybe there was the element of ”insta-love” but it did not hinder my enjoyment in the least. Faye has never had time for a personal life, since the death of her parents, she put all her energy into running the family business. At thirty, she realizes that she needs to have a personal life as well, and so she answers a man’s ad to spend a no-strings romantic weekend in Alaska with him. We get to go on a thrilling journey with Faye as she discovers there’s more to life than work. Trevor and Faye’s chemistry was magnetic and I felt myself being swept away by their story. I’m looking forward to what the author has in store for us next in this series!

REVIEW – ARRANGE ME (The Arranged Duo, #1) by Katy Regnery

SYNOPSIS

** COMING MARCH 4, 2019 **

My name is Courtney Jane Salinger…
and I’m sick of games.

Sick of the Friday night bar-scene-cum-meat-market.

Sick of the boy-girl, man-woman, mars-venus, flirtation-without-expectation, game-playing nonsense.

Sick of awful dates and one-night stands, booty calls and guys who don’t call back, mixed messages or NO messages and—and—and…I’m sick of all of it.

I’m done.
I just can’t do it anymore.
It’s too hard, and worse: little by little, it’s making me hard.
It’s breaking my heart.

What do I want?
That’s easy.

I want a house in suburbia with a white picket fence.
I want babies to buckle into a minivan.
But most of all, I want to be married.
I want a husband.

So I’ve made an important decision: I’m making my escape from the dating world and the single life.
I’ve filled out my application on ArrangeMe.com and I’m putting my fate into the hands of experts.

Is it a little scary?
Sure.
I mean, I have no idea who I’ll end up with.
After all, I’m planning to marry a complete stranger.

But between you and me?
I can’t wait.

Being arranged can’t possibly be worse than being single.
Can it?

Katy Regnery is one of my favorite authors. I love her ”Modern Fairytale” series and her dark romances are amazing. I didn’t fall crazy in love with her new book, ”Arrange Me”. In an overly saturated genre, I do give the author credit for coming up with a plot that I have yet to come across in any other book. The Heroine is a twenty-nine-year-old woman with a successful career and comes from a family with tons of money, but her love life has been one disappointment after another. She’s tired of the dating game. She wants to meet her soulmate, get married, have the house with the white picket fence and 2.5 children. She happens to see a commercial on tv for a matchmaking service that arranges marriages for couples. The company seems shady in that they ask for a pretty hefty fee which is non-refundable and the couples don’t get to meet until it’s their wedding day. The Heroine is hooked in by the ad and offers her faith in it blindly. I do remember being a bit naïve and having an overly romanticized outlook on life at that age so I can see why the Heroine goes full steam ahead with this arranged marriage deal, and yet I just didn’t ever connect with Courtney.

Just when she decides to have this matchmaking service find her a husband, a friend who she never thought in her wildest dreams had any interest in her, starts to make his feelings known. Josh is a sexy and charismatic Hero, and yet I thought the pairing of Josh and Courtney was rushed. Both characters make some pretty rash and irresponsible decisions. I started worrying that maybe this would be the first book by this author that I wouldn’t end up liking at all, but the author saves the story by throwing a harsh dose of reality in the faces of the main characters. Suddenly marrying someone without really getting to know each other is coming back to bite them and we’re left wondering if there is even a hope of a happily ever after ending for the two.

Instead of going inside, I walk around the house, to the backyard, to see if I can help bring in any dirty dishes, but the picnic table is empty. All traces of our dinner party have already been cleaned up by the Ducharmes siblings.

I look up at the midnight sky, at the dozens and dozens of stars, and I wonder if Gus is right. What he says feels right, but I feel very young and very small as I stare up at the universe. It’s not wrong to give yourself over to loving if the chance arises.

“We get amazing night skies up here.”

I look over my shoulder and find Julian, tall, barefoot, and beautiful, walking toward me.

“Yes, you do,” I answer, giving him a shy and tentative smile before I turn my attention back upward.

My skin prickles with awareness. My lips tingle, remembering the insistent pressure of his. And elsewhere in my body, I clench hard, willing those deep-set tremors not to start up again right now. I want to believe what Gus has told me—that liking and wanting a man isn’t wrong—but it’s new to me, and I need a little time to reconcile my desire and conscience together.

“When I lived in DC, it was what I missed the most, besides Noelle. More than the cheese. More than the beer. More than the skiing.” He stops, standing beside me, staring up at the firmament. “I missed Vermont’s night skies. And the millions of stars.”

“I can see why,” I say. “When I lived in LA, I never saw stars.” I giggle. “I mean, I saw the people kind, but not the sky kind.”

“Who’s the most famous person you ever met?”

“Hmm. Maybe . . . Gigi Hadid . . . or Bella? Hmm . . . Or Cara Delevingne? Kate Moss mentored my m—Tig for a while, um, and she knew Gisele, of course. Also—”

“Wait a second! Gisele? Did you ever meet Tom Brady?” he asks, his voice eager.

“Let me guess.” I glance at his face. “Patriots fan?”

“The biggest.”

“Tig went to their wedding, but I never met him. Sorry,” I say, giggling as he lays a hand over his heart and pretends to cry. “Speaking of the rich and famous, Noelle tells me you met the vice president while you worked in Washington.”

“She did?” His teasing expression disappears quickly as he straightens, dropping his hand. “Uh, yeah. Long time ago.”

“Not so long,” I say.

“Yeah, well . . . I guess it just feels like a while ago.” I wait for him to say more, hoping to learn why he left Washington so abruptly, but he stretches his arms over his head and yawns. “I’m tired. You must be exhausted.”

“At school I was on the dining hall rotation, which meant cooking for one hundred souls regularly. Tonight was a breeze.”

“Your soup was amazing.”
“Thank you.”
“The steak too.”
“Thank you again.”
“And the tart.”
“That was your sister. Let her know you thought so.”
“And the kiss.”

“Thank—” I’m grinning at him, but my eyes widen at his unexpected compliment, and I immediately look back up at the sky. It’s dark out so he can’t see my blush.

His chuckle is soft and low beside

*****4.5 STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

We are living in a fairytale world, my love and me. But the day will come when, like a fragile piece of glass dropped to the ground, our world will shatter around us. Until then, we steal our piece of heaven, quietly hoping that the strength of our growing love can trounce the hounds of hell, knowing all the while it can’t. Nothing can hold back what is coming.

Katy Regnery’s ”Modern Fairytale” series is what brought this brilliant author’s works into my life. I have loved every installment that I’ve read so far. These are not ”hearts and flowers” romances. They’re dark and sometimes almost impossibly bleak. Her characters are flawed, but there is deep beauty in their brokenness. They suffer through great adversity but in the end, they are rewarded with a once in a lifetime unconditional love that sets them free from their painful pasts. FRAGMENTS OF ASH is Katy’s haunting twist on the beloved childhood fairytale, ”Cinderella”.

There isn’t a fairy godmother with a magic wand, glass slippers, or a royal prince charming in Ashley’s life that will come to save her, but she does have a loving godfather, who was her mother’s gay best friend, and a beautiful but sullen ex-secret service agent turned glassblower that will fight to the bitter end to protect her.

The story starts with Ashley facing a very dire and grim future. Her mother has just passed away and it’s on the day of the reading of her will that her stepfather makes his vile plans of debauchery for her known. In her eighteen years of life, Ashley has only felt love and a brief stint of happiness when she lived with her godfather, Gus, for a few weeks while her mother was in rehab. But for most of her life, she’s gotten used to being treated as a burden and a symbol of her family’s greatest shame. Ash knows her situation is grave and she manages to escape to Gus who has just the place to hide her while they try to figure out how to handle her stepfather. It is at this beautiful cottage in the country that she will meet her Prince Charming, Julian.

Julian is anything but hospitable in the beginning. Having been burned in the past, he’s not quick to trust any woman. But as time passes the two find that it is quite impossible to fight the feelings growing between them. The slow burn to the overwhelming passion they share was almost too much to endure! These two are on borrowed time. Will Julian be able to protect Ash from the evil that intends to own her body and soul?

This story had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down nor could I stop feeling deep anxiety, wondering how Ash was ever going to be able to live her life happily without always having to look over her shoulder for impending danger. I truly love Katy Regnery’s dark romances and I think she’s amazing for donating a part of her profits to good causes. 5% of the gross profits from the ebook and paperback sales of this title from now and throughout October, will be donated to the “Women’s Center of Greater Danbury”, helping women and children of that area who are seeking refuge from abusive circumstances.

My mind
skitters to her face—her beautiful fucking face—and the way she stared at me
with those wide eyes and her lips lightly parted. Those lips. She has Angelina
Jolie lips. Scarlett Johanssen lips. Liv-fucking-Tyler from the “Crazy” video
lips. Except this chick doesn’t look like Liv. She’s got blonde hair and a
perfect pout like Alicia Silverstone. I remember the beginning of that video
when our girl, Alicia, climbs out a bathroom window in her Catholic school
uniform, her skirt riding up to show her black lace panties…and ahhh, yes, I
feel my cock twitch just picturing it.
Fuck my
life.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
Because
yeah, I was yelling at Jock, but she was standing behind him, and I didn’t miss
the tight lines of her teenaged body under a pair of new jeans and a
long-sleeved T-shirt. Her rounded tits strained just a little against the
fabric of her top. Not enough to be dirty. Just enough to hate her. Because no
guy alive—least of all me—has a right to want someone like her. Or sure, we can
want her, but we’ll never have her.
Not in a million years.
She looked to be about Noelle’s
age—somewhere between eighteen and twenty, and ridiculously young to suddenly
arrive alone in the middle of nowhere, put up in an old farmhouse by a couple
of aging queens.
How in the fuck is this her best option?
Who is she?
And what exactly is her deal?
I grimace
because the headlines of her story—the easy parts—start materializing as I
think about what I know about her. I didn’t do all that training for nothing.
Plus, I have good instincts. I could practically smell it on her—the fear, the
desperation, the way she wouldn’t meet me eyes except to insist that she was an
adult.
God, what a joke. If she’s an adult, I’m a
French poodle.
Then
something occurs to me: it was Jock’s boyfriend, Gus, who gave away the most
important part of her story away.
She has nowhere else to go.
And then
something else occurs to me, and I wonder, Is
she in hiding?
This
girl—what’s her name? Amber? Audrey?—is in trouble. Big trouble. The kind of trouble that gets other people in hot
water when they were just trying to live their lives and mind their own
business. And she’s been dumped on my doorstep. Literally.

My father, Paul Isaac Porter, was executed twenty years ago for the brutal murder of twelve innocent girls.

Though I was only eight-years-old at the time, I am aware – every day of my life – that I am his child, his only son.

To protect the world from the poison in my veins, I live a quiet life, off the grid, away from humanity.

I promised myself, and my mother, not to infect innocent lives with the darkness that swirls within me, waiting to make itself known.

I’m just…in awe, and that’s how awe sounds. I don’t know how to feel this much love for someone. It hurts to love her this much. And yet I wouldn’t trade this moment even to cleanse my blood of my father’s poison.

UNLOVED is the story of one EPIC romance between two would be ”star-crossed lovers”. I was captivated from the very first page and was so completely consumed by this beautiful story that I devoured it in less than a day! Katy Regnery’s writing is simply EXQUISITE. I found myself mesmerized by her written words, so much that I practically highlighted about 90% of this book! I think this may just be my most favorite Katy Regnery book! BRAVO!!!

Brynn Cadogan and Cassidy Porter come from different worlds but they are in some ways the same, and it’s as if the fates were determined to bring these two lost souls together. Brynn has suffered a devastating loss and for the past two years, her overwhelming grief has caused her to close herself off from the world. Something she finds from her painful past has given her a new sense of purpose. Brynn is finally ready to move on from her grieving, but she must do it across the country in Maine, in one of the most dangerous mountainous terrains called Katahdin. While on her journey to lay her past to rest, Brynn’s life is threatened by a psychotic hiker but luckily for her, a “guardian angel” was nearby and he saved her from certain death.

Cassidy Porter has lived in his grandfather’s remote cabin in Katahdin almost his entire life. His “tainted” bloodline has kept him closed off from the outside world partly due to prejudice and also for fear of the evil that lives in his genetic makeup. When he hears Brynn’s cry for help he doesn’t hesitate to come to her rescue and with an enormous amount of trepidation he decides to take her back to his cabin to nurse her back to health. He’s been alone for nearly a decade after both his mother and grandfather passed, and he’s never been in the presence of a woman. Cass is mesmerized by Brynn, but he knows that he can never live a normal life with her and that she’s better off without him.

As he nurses Brynn back to health their feelings for each other intensify and a love like they’ve never imagined blossoms between them. Cass won’t allow Brynn to tie herself to him. He’s adamant that once she is fully recovered in a few weeks that she must go back home. Out of desperation, Brynn proposes that they enjoy the limited time they have together with no “strings attached” and no expectations. But once they give in to the passion burning between them, will it be that easy to say goodbye at the end of their three weeks together?

Cass is one of Katy Regnery’s most charismatic and endearing Hero’s by far. Readers are sure to fall deeply in love with him and this story! I can’t say enough just how AMAZING this book is!!
