REVIEW TOUR – THE COACHING HOURS (How To Date A Douchebag) by Sara Ney

THERE ARE NO DOUCHEBAGS IN THIS STORY.

Well, there are, but they’re not who this story is about.

This story is about me—the coach’s daughter.

When I moved to Iowa to live with my dad, the university’s take-no-prisoners wrestling coach, I thought transferring would be easy as pie—living with my father would be temporary, and he’d make sure his douchebag wrestlers left me alone.

Wrong on both counts.

ASSHOLES ALWAYS COME OUT OF THE WOODWORK WHEN THE STAKES ARE HIGH.

A bet is placed, and I’m on the table. After one humiliating night and too much alcohol, I find the last nice guy on campus. And when he offers to rent me his spare bedroom, I go all in. It’s time for the nice guy to finish first.

Midnight chats and spilling my problems turn to lingering touches. Lingering touches turn to more.

And the ultimate good guy has the potential do more damage than any douchebags ever could.

She perks up. “Wait, you’ve never had a back massage?”

“No?”

“Ever?”

“Nope.”

“Well, what the hell? How can I, in good conscience, lie here letting you rub my back when you’ve never had anyone rub yours?” She scoots over, pointing to the mattress. “Lie on your stomach, I’ll do you first.”

I wave my hands in front of me in protest. The last thing I need is her warm hands roaming my body. “No, no, you don’t have to. It’s not a big deal.”

“Are you crazy? Back massages are the best—like, better than an orgasm. You’re first, so lie down.”

“And you call me the bossy one?”

“Quit stalling and get on the bed.”

Obediently, I climb to the middle of my bed in nothing but a pair of gym shorts, legs hanging off the side. Next to me, the mattress dips, Anabelle on her knees, approaching my side.

A finger glides down my spine. “It will be easier for me to do this if I’m sitting on you. Hope that’s okay.”

“Is that the approved method?”

“No, but my arms will get tired if I have to lean over you the whole time.”

“Do whatever then, I don’t care.”

I stiffen when Anabelle swings one leg over my body, straddling my ass. Warm palms at my lower back.

“You’re so tense. Try to relax,” she coos, making it worse. “Tilt your head to the side, that’s it.”

I hear the lotion bottle snap open. Click closed. My roommate’s palms rubbing together, warming it up. “Sorry, I don’t have any actual massage oil. This will have to do.”

When her hands make contact with my back, I almost groan it feels so fucking good. Warm. Smooth. Pressure in all the right places, pushing gently into my muscles.

Slowly.

Slower still, caressing along my shoulders, thumbs and fingers working together to soothe the burning on my right side.

“Doesn’t this feel great?” Her soft voice cuts into the silence. “You’re loosening up. That’s good.”

I feel her leaning as her hands move up and down my spine until they stop, hovering at the base of my neck. Thumbs stroking the skin below my hairline, back and forth.

Kneading.

Her torso dips, hands maneuvering my arms, placing them at my sides. Palms slide up and down my biceps.

For several minutes, she rubs my arms and shoulders. Then she skims down my ribcage unhurriedly, in no rush, making little humming sounds inside her throat.

I know I’m not imagining the feather-light way her hands drift down my spine. I remain still, letting her touch me, basking in it.

Remain still when her lips kiss the tender spot of my shoulder where it meets my neck, nose nuzzling behind my ear, her breasts rubbing against my back and what the fuck was that all about? What does she think she’s doing, trying to drive me insane?

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

I was in love with him, and I want to point out that sometimes suffering through a love you never had is worse than suffering through one you did. Everything with Elliot and me was left unfulfilled.

I finally had to see what all the fuss was about for myself. There has been so much love for this series that my curiosity was piqued! Leave it to me to join the party late. I was able to follow the storyline easily even though there was mention of other characters from the previous books. That being said, this can be read as a standalone. While the previous Heroes have been ”Douchebags”, that cannot be said about the Hero of this one. Elliot St. Charles made this book one heck of a sweet, sexy enjoyable read!

When the story starts, it wasn’t clear who the Hero was going to be. There were two other characters who were on Iowa’s wrestling team who were vying for the Heroine’s affections but truth be told they were only in it to win a bet. Once Elliot and Anabelle have their first interaction in the storyline it was obvious that he was the man who was going to steal not only the Heroine’s heart but this reader’s too.

Anabelle is Coach Donnelly’s estranged daughter, who has recently transferred from her university in Massachusetts to finish out her college career at Iowa University. Her parents split up years ago and her mother has tried her hardest to keep Ana away from her father, but she’s twenty-one now and wants the opportunity to build a relationship with her Dad. While she wants to reconnect, she doesn’t necessarily want to live under his roof. Ana is desperate to find affordable housing near campus. After making a complete fool of herself by getting drunk at a frat party, a perfect opportunity practically falls into her lap. Elliot was at the party and saw that she needed rescuing and brings her back to his apartment to sleep it off. Their friendship only seems to strengthen from that point and soon they become roommates when she moves into his spare room.

From the moment they first met both Elliot and Ana secretly felt an attraction. They fell into an easy friendship and became an integral part of each other’s lives. Elliot was ever the perfect gentleman and incredibly sweet. His inability to read the situation that was building between Ana and him made him extremely endearing. The anticipation for things to heat up between the couple almost made me lose my mind!! Just wait for the Back Massage scene!! OMG! Holy freaking H-O-T-N-E-S-S!!!

Once things start to heat up for the couple, there is no quelling their insatiable desires. But the guy who has continuously been the ”Knight in Shining Armor” isn’t exactly ready to start a serious relationship. Elliot has had plans set in motion for some time which were in place before Ana became a part of his life. But Ana isn’t the kind of girl who can keep love and sex separate. She’s already fallen hard for the beautiful man who’s become the only true best friend she’s ever had.

Will she be able to move on from Elliot? Can Elliot easily forget the woman who has somehow managed to claim a piece of his heart?

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Heroes: 5
Heroine: 3
Plot: 4
Angst: 4
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4.5

COVER REVEAL – THE SECRET THIEF by Nina Lane

Behind his beautiful eyes
Lay a thousand secrets and lies.
But my own secrets are all laid bare
The twisted reality of a disgraceful affair.

I once deciphered the mysteries hidden in art
Then mistakes and desire tore me apart.

Now I’m shipwrecked at the end of the earth
Desperate again to prove my worth.

The lighthouse keeper is a stranger to me
Yet one night with him sets me free.

We find ourselves united by the stars above
Both of us needing the salvation of love.

Until our secrets and shame continue to build
And what was flourishing will soon be killed.

I’ll have her my way, even if it means dragging her into the darkness.

About THE BEAU & THE BELLE

Beau Fortier starred in most of my cringe-worthy teenage fantasies.

I met him when I was a junior in high school, a time that revolved exclusively around bad hair, failed forays into flirting, and scientific inquiries into which brand of toilet paper worked best for stuffing bras.

That is, until Beau moved into the small guest house just beyond my bedroom window.

A 24-year-old law student at Tulane, Beau was as mysterious to me as second base (both in baseball and in the bedroom). He was older. Intimidating. Hot. Boys my age had chicken legs and chubby cheeks. Beau had calloused hands and a jaw cut from steel. Our interactions were scarce—mostly involving slight stalking on my end—and yet deep down, I desperately hoped he saw me as more of a potential lover than a lovesick loser.

Turns out, I was fooling myself. My fragile ego learned that lesson the hard way.

Now, ten years later, we’re both back in New Orleans, and guess who suddenly can’t take his eyes off little ol’ me.

My old friend, Mr. Fortier.

But things have changed. I’m older now—poised and confident. My ego wears a bulletproof vest. The butterflies that once filled my stomach have all perished.

When I was a teenager, Beau warned me to guard my heart.

Let’s hope he knows how to guard his.

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

This is the kiss I wanted 10 years ago. This is what I begged him for, and now that I have it, I don’t want to let it go.

THE BEAU AND THE BELLE is a sweet second chance romance between two people who couldn’t act on their feelings the first time they became a part of each other’s lives but ten years later things have changed and now it’s a battle of wills that stand in their way.

Beau Fortier was in his last year of law school at Tulane University when he met the sweet and beguiling Lauren LeBlanc. He answers an ad for a studio apartment in the home of one of New Orleans oldest and most influential families. Long ago, the Fortier’s were just as esteemed and powerful as the LeBlanc’s but during the 60s and 70s the family fell upon hard times and lost their fortune. Beau is determined to graduate from Tulane and to become a successful lawyer so that he can rebuild his family’s empire and provide the kind of lifestyle to his mother that she once grew up in.

When Beau and Lauren first meet, you can tell there’s a special chemistry there, BUT there’s an eight-year age gap between them. Lauren is seventeen and Beau is twenty-five. He knows that it would be highly improper for anything to happen romantically between them, but this doesn’t stop the lovesick and innocent teenager from hitting on Beau. While nothing happens between them during this team, deeply rooted feelings have developed. Then Hurricane Andrea steps in and ends up separating them for the next ten years.

Lauren went off to the east coast to finish out her senior year of high school and then ended up attending an ivy league university in Connecticut as well. After graduating from college, she secured a job on the art acquisitions team for Sotheby’s in NYC. Now, ten years after she left New Orleans, she’s returning home and about to open her own art gallery/coffee shop.

The years that separated Beau and Lauren have not managed to diminish the attraction they each felt for each other and when they cross paths at a formal ball held in Lauren’s honor, there is no denying that the chemistry is still very strong between them. Beau is determined to stake his claim but while Lauren may have blossomed into a stunning young woman, she’s still very much stuck in the past and the insecure seventeen-year-old girl seems to still be making all her decisions! Beau knows that Lauren is the only one for him and he’s on a mission to convince her that they belong together.

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Heroes: 4.5
Heroine: 4

*****Mel’s Review*****

4.5 Stars!

Lauren LeBlanc is a 17 yr. old junior in high school that comes from one of the oldest families in New Orleans. She grew up in New Orleans society as a debutante attending cotillions. She was sweet, innocent, & completely naive when it came to boys. Then a hot older guy moves in to the guest house apartment her family is renting. His name is Beau Fortier. He’s a 24 yr. old law student at Tulane with big dreams to build up his family name to what it once was. He comes from humble beginnings, but hopes to one day live up to the Fortier name his ancestors made prominent. Beau has completely stolen Lauren’s attention, & stars in most of her teenage fantasies. He’s all man & she has an all consuming crazy crush on him. She just wants him to see her as more than a young silly girl. They become good friends and Lauren is soon very attached to him. Then their lives go in different directions. Beau puts everything into his career, & Lauren finishes school and then moves to New York. She returns home after ten years, & crosses paths with the man she’s never been able to forget.

-I see the sparkle in her eyes that seems to whisper, The rules have changed. Back then, her beauty was irrelevant, like a delicate work of art tucked safely behind museum glass. The thought never entered my mind to cross the velvet rope.

-She might have grown up, but those damn eyes are just as communicative as they’ve always been.

-She’s a woman now, and she doesn’t have to try to be seductive. She just is.

Lauren is back in New Orleans, & Beau is ready to make his move. She was too young and off limits to him, but now she’s 27 and all grown up. There’s nothing stopping him from taking everything he’s always wanted. He’s always had feelings for Lauren & just couldn’t act on them because of her age. He never quit thinking of her, and wants to be with her. Lauren isn’t so easily convinced, & is fighting it, and holding a grudge. She beautiful and confident. She was in love with Beau ten years ago, & thinks he didn’t return her feelings. As far as she’s concerned he’d missed his chance. Except time hadn’t lessened her feelings, and he still made her feel like that same emotional teenage girl. Suddenly Beau is everywhere & she can’t escape him. She makes him work for it, and he doesn’t give up till she’s his.

Another fabulous book is this series I love! Can’t get enough of R.S. Grey’s stories!

-He’s here now and he’s so much more than I remember- more handsome, more sure of himself, more magnetic.

-At 27, I can barely handle this feeling. At 17, I’d have gone comatose.

-This is how I wanted to be touched all those years ago.

-I used to dream about him like this when I was a teenager. I used to wonder what it would be like to have him stare at me just the way he is right now.

REVIEW TOUR – BAD FOR YOU (Dirty Deeds #3) by J. Daniels

“If you’re a fan of Kristen Ashley, then you will love this book.” -Aestas Book Blog on Four Letter Word

He didn’t want to be bad. He just didn’t have a choice…

Shayla Perkins isn’t the kind of girl who makes the same mistake twice, especially when it comes to Sean “Stitch” Molina. So when he gives her the world’s biggest rejection, that’s it–she’s done. Until the sexy, silent, unavailable Sean makes Shay a very personal offer. Of course, it still doesn’t mean he’s interested in her. Or does it?

Sean has done things in life. Bad things. And he’s paid the price. All he wants now is to make up for his past by doing good in the present. And no one deserves more good than Shay. Beautiful on the inside and out, Shay is the kind of woman who should be cared for and protected–especially from a man like Sean. He’s tried to keep his feelings for her in check, but a single, reckless impulse pulls them closer than ever before.

Soon the two are sharing their biggest dreams and satisfying their deepest desires. But what will happen if the only way to truly give each other what they want most…is to let each other go?

“The perfect mix of funny, hot and heartwarming. I enjoyed it immensely!” –Mia Sheridan, New York Times bestselling author, on Four Letter Word
