REVIEW – LISTEN TO ME (Fusion, #1) by Kristen Proby

81jh0wjLlCL

SYNOPSIS:

In New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby’s brand new series, five best friends open a hot new restaurant, but one of them gets much more than she bargained for when a sexy former rock star walks through the doors—and into her heart.

Seduction is quickly becoming the hottest new restaurant in Portland, and Addison Wade is proud to claim 1/5 of the credit. She’s determined to make it a success and can’t think of a better way to bring in new customers than live music. But when former rock star Jake Keller swaggers through the doors to apply for the weekend gig, she knows she’s in trouble. Addie instantly recognizes him—his posters were plastered all over her bedroom walls in high school—he’s all bad boy…exactly her type and exactly what she doesn’t need.

Jake Keller walked away from the limelight five years ago and yearns to return to what’s always driven him: the music. If he gets to work for a smart-mouthed, funny-as-hell bombshell, all the better. But talking Addie into giving him the job is far easier than persuading her that he wants more than a romp in her bed. Just when she begins to drop her walls, Jake’s past finally catches up with him.

Will Addie be torn apart once again or will Jake be able to convince her to drown out her doubts and listen to her heart?

This is a brand new series by Kristen Proby that centers around five girlfriends who co-own the hottest new restaurant in Portland called Seduction. Their restaurant offers the most delicious food with a sexy ambiance. Each friend will get their own romantic story. This first installment is about Addie. She is the Manager of the restaurant. Addie was a model at one time but left because she didn’t want to live her life always watching what she eats. She also has huge abandonment issues stemming from her dysfunctional relationship with her parents and her poor choices in boyfriends. Addie is normally drawn to the bad boy musicians, who always end up breaking her heart in the end. The story opens with Addie catching her current “bad boy” having sex with two women in her apartment, proving yet again to her that she is incapable of being loved by a man.

Jake Knox was the lead singer of the group Hard Knox. The band broke up a few years ago due to a personal tragedy. Jake has given up performing but he has been writing songs and producing them for other artists. After three years of not performing he decides to go to an open mic night and that’s where he and Addie cross paths. He’s instantly attracted to her and she happens to be at the club looking for a musician to perform at Seduction on the weekends. He ends up getting the job and eventually after some persistent flirting, he gets Addie to go out with him. From there the relationship starts to get hot and heavy. But all the while Addie tries to withhold her heart from Jake because she is positive he will end up annihilating her in the end.

It took me a while to warm up to this story. It seemed a bit slow in the beginning and I literally lost count as to how many times Jake called Addie, ”BEAUTIFUL”!! I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes. It wasn’t until he makes an ass of himself and jeopardizes the relationship that I started to get engrossed in the story. Plus the sexy times are pretty steamy.

I really enjoyed the bits we get of the next couple in the series. It will be a ”Friends to Lovers” romance and the hero is the best friend’s older brother!! Right up my alley!!! I’m still very optimistic about this series and can’t wait for book two.

REVIEW- THE HEART (The Reluctant Romantics, #2) by Kate Stewart

The Heart by Kate Stewart _eCover

SYNOPSIS:

Jack

For the last ten years, I’ve roamed the globe, captivated by the world around me. I’ve seen the seven wonders and admired sunsets from every continent. I’d lived and loved and that was enough for me. It would have to be.

I was content, satisfied with my collection of experiences . . . until a phone call led me down a road less traveled.

If I’d known my fascination would pique and be forever quenched only a few hundred miles from where my curiosity had been born, I may have never set sail.

Rose

Stripped of the future I’d planned with the love of my life, my family and my career were now all that mattered. I’d lived and loved and that was enough. It would have to be.

I struggled to move forward, to discard the part of me that held out hope for my obliterated heart. But I was bred a romantic, so it was easier said than done.

The chances of being struck by lightning are 1 in 960,000.

The odds of being struck twice are 1 in 9 million.

I risked those odds every minute, often cursing the dark sky, praying for static and a rumble of thunder, but it never came.

No, that second bolt hit me on a clear day.

The Heart can be read as a stand alone but it is HIGHLY recommended you read the first two books in the series first.

I was paralyzed with my need for her. I didn’t want to be anything else than the man I was when I was with her. No matter how much strength I found, she weakened me in a way only she could validate. I belonged to her.

And her heart belonged to another.

12717994_10206952724429661_1973852443814449285_n

This story was utter perfection from beginning to end. Kate Stewart’s writing is flawless and she couldn’t have written a more perfect ending to Rose’s story. She obliterated our hearts in The Mind, but she puts us back together and then some with The Heart. Ladies, there’s a new book boyfriend in town, and his name is JACK SAWYER!! Get ready to be swept off your feet!!!

Those of you who loved Grant will not be disappointed as well because he is not easily discarded from Rose’s heart. She clings to the love she had for that man with all that she has. Three years after his death and every day Rose has to will herself to get out of bed to go on with her life. She makes a conscious effort to think back to all of the precious times they shared in order to never forget the man who had been the greatest love of her life. Rose has put all her efforts into graduating from med school and into the plans for the new cancer center she is building with Dallas, but she has closed herself off from the opposite sex. She doesn’t want to move on from Grant and she’s not all that positive that lightening can strike twice in that department. She’s about to meet the man who will definitely be challenging her beliefs. As soon as Jack Sawyer enters the story, it’s hard not to be completely consumed by this man.

1517659_10206952724029651_6735659286103142504_n

He’s the architect her father hired to complete work on the cancer center. Jack is one seriously sexy Alpha male, ladies. He knows what he wants and he doesn’t play games. Jack challenges Rose at every turn and he’s exactly the man she needs. The chemistry between these two is definitely off the charts HOT!! The slow build to the sexy times had me clenching my thighs and panting till I almost thought I would combust, but oh was it so worth the wait when they finally get down to business. Mr. Sawyer is packing some serious heat in his boxer briefs.

As they start to spend more time together they each begin to develop deep feelings for each other. Can Rose move beyond her past or will she let her fears hold her back from true happiness? Is Jack willing to fill the shoes of a man who is virtually impossible to compete against?

Get ready to be swept away by this story of lost love and new love. I had a really hard time putting this one down. Not only was I crazy about Jack but I also thoroughly enjoyed all the funny and tender moments Rose shares with her beautiful family. Seth, Laura, Dean, Dallas and their children just helped to deliver this story in the most perfectly wrapped package.

THE HEART is the third book in The Reluctant Romanticsseries, but can totally be read as a standalone. I HIGHLY recommend this entire series and I tell you, this is the way you end a series!!! It’s been days since I read this one and I still can’t get it out of my mind. I will definitely be reading it again sometime soon!!

BRAVO KATE STEWART!!!

Rose Whittaker is a 28 yr. old woman living in Dallas, Texas who has given up hope for love. After the future she planned with the love of her life was abruptly taken from her, Rose has put all her focus on her career & her family. She is a dedicated surgeon who is finishing up her residency at Dallas Memorial, & then plans to open one of the largest Cancer treatment centers in Texas. Building this center on the land that brings her peace & serenity has become her dream. After suffering such loss, she is just living day by day trying to keep it together, when a gorgeous blonde man from New Orleans shows up on her property. His name is Jack Sawyer, & he’s a contractor/architect that is friends with Rose’s father. He was hired to install the medical equipment at the center. The chemistry between Rose & Jack is undeniable & it shocks Rose. She didn’t think a man could still affect her like this, & begins to wonder if lightning can strike twice? Could love really find her again, the earth shattering kind that already consumed & almost destroyed her?

18922209._SX540_

Rose is scared of how much Jack makes her feel, but also excited about life again. She knows she needs to exist beyond work. She wants to feel whole again & Jack makes her feel so much. He’s sexy & so tender with her. This man is stunningly beautiful inside & out. He is blonde hair, ocean blue eyes, chiseled face, tan muscular body, just absolute perfection to the eyes, but inside is what really gets to Rose & captures her heart. This man looks at her like she’s his whole world. He has such a beautiful kind soul & wants to give it all to Rose. She just has to be willing to risk her fears, put her heart back out there, try again, & accept the life he’s offering her.

-Jack was everything I’d been missing, temptation, lust, hunger, and comfort all wrapped up in the perfect package. I felt strangely safe with him.

-In Jack’s arms I felt beautiful, needed, wanted, cherished.

-“You have nothing to be afraid of with me. I can only prove it to you if you let me.”

So, this book was absolute perfection for me! Best book I’ve read by Kate Stewart & one of my top reads for 2016. I couldn’t get enough of the swoony Jack Sawyer with his creole accent & southern charm. This man is smoking hot! HOT! HOT! HOT! Omg, I was dying! So damn delicious!!!! I also loved getting more Dean & Dallas & ADORED baby Grant! He melted my heart! This book was so beautifully written & is a story that touches the heart and stays with you.

-All that there was to feel I felt for him, and with him. He’d become a need for me, a want and a hope.

-“I’ll never regret giving you my heart. You are the only man in the world I want to have it.”

Kate Stewart stole my heart with this story. Jack is a hero like no other and every aspect of this unique novel made my heart sing and my body dance in a beautiful rhythm, that will be impossible to forget.

The Feels!!!! The feels!!!!!!

IMG_1743

As we know from reading the previous two books Rose lost what she believed was the great love of her life. She lives now in the house her and Grant had dreamt about on the beautiful land he gave her. She keeps his memory alive by locking herself away from the world inside the beautiful home that once held every beautiful promise for her future.

Rose is devoted to her job as a surgeon and her role as the aunt of her sister’s kids. Now she looks forward to fulfilling her and Dallas’dream of building a cancer research and support center, that even before it’s opening is already a success. Her father has hired the gorgeous and talented Jack Sawyer to design and assist in the construction of this special project. Rose knew he was coming from out of town but when she first sees him, she’s speechless and completely breathless by the man’s raw beauty.

Jack has lived a very interesting life. He has a very colorful family and has traveled the world and goes from city to city, creating beautiful landmarks. From the moment he sets eyes on Rose he is captivated by her beauty and charm. The more he gets to know her, the more he knows he wants all in, no games, no gimmicks, he wants her. Rose, on the other hand, is skittish around the subject of love, and even though she can’t escape the strong emotions Jack stirs in her, she’s scared to death to fall in love again.

Jack and Rose are the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. They become the shelter each of them needed from all the heartache and pain they’ve experienced in the past.

It won’t be an easy road for them. Will Jack grow tired of Rose’s insecurities? Will Rose realize it’s okay to be happy again and to love again, after Grant?

There was so much love in this book, I thought my heart was going to burst. From Dallas, Dean, and their kids, both Jack and Rose’s parents, it was all a grand love fest. The writing style of Kate Stewart in this book takes us to a whole new level of romance. She comes back each time with much more magic and beauty in her words. You would think the woman was the wizard of romance, and I’ll tell you one thing, I have completely fallen under her spell. Her books feel majestic to me and any fan of the romance genre will be easily captivated by her amazing talent.

Just FABULOUS!!

When the buzz first started going around about this book months ago, I was extremely intrigued. I was told this was one hell of a book that was going to knock my socks off. IT DEFINITELY DID!! It was compared to the tv series Gossip Girl. I have seen that show and it really wasn’t my cuppa. In my opinion, this book beats the hell out of Gossip Girl. Except for some of the sad things that have happened to Ella, I would say, for the most part, this is a teenage girls’ fantasy come to life.

Ella is a sixteen-year-old who has been living on her own for the past couple of years after her mother died of cancer. She has been able to keep her lack of parental guardianship a secret from the authorities and to survive, she works as a stripper in a seedy night club. The girl keeps all of her savings and belongings in a backpack that she takes with her everywhere, just in case she ever needs to go on the run at a moment’s notice. Ella has never met her father and actually has no idea who he is. One day a man appears at her school and he claims to be her legal guardian. He knows all about her mother’s death and how she has been living and supporting herself. Callum Royal tells Ella that her father has recently died and that he was named her guardian in his will. Having lived in some of the worst environments, Ella isn’t quick to trust Callum and tries to run away. She’s quickly found by Callum and he brings her back to his home to live with him and his five sons. FIVE VERY ALPHA & SEXY AS HELL SONS!!! The Royals seem to have it all – wealth, looks, and power!! Now you see why I said this is like a girl’s dream come true????!!

To get Ella to agree to come back with him and stay at his place, Callum offers her $10,000 up front and promises an extra $10,000 for every month she stays. If she goes off to college, she gets $250,000, and once she graduates there is more $$$ to come!! Now who could say no to that offer??!! Certainly not Ella! But she’s definitely not a gold digger, which is what the five Royal boys all seem to think she is. They all give her a really frosty reception when she first arrives and make her life a bit hellish at the school they attend, Astor Park Prep Academy. Somehow Ella can’t help but fight this strong attraction she feels for Reed Royal, the second oldest son who has a very hot temper and seems to rule the school and the Royal clan. Reed has gotten under Ella’s skin. But she may have succeeded in affecting Reed as well.

There is a lot of drama going on with the Royal boys, Callum’s slutty girlfriend, Ella’s father’s widow, and some snobby classmates from Astor Park Prep. I loved every minute of it!! I can tell you that it was so good I read it in one day. Once you start it, you will find it hard to put down. The only problem is, we end on a big cliffy and book two isn’t out until July!! I mean that is not as bad as having to wait SIX MONTHS for The Walking Dead to come back on, BUT STILL!!!! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!

What is it with authors deciding to co-write books lately??!! I’ve read several just recently and they ALL were FIVE STAR reads for me!! Elle Kennedy & Jen Frederick are no exception!! These two have created the most intoxicating story I have read yet!!! If you haven’t read this one, you definitely need to bump it up your TBR!! It is a book that is not to be missed!!

Phoenix is the fourth installment in The Bellator Saga. It should be read after the first three novels in the series.

*****Dee’s Review*****

FIVE STARS *****

If you’ve read a Cecilia London novel before, you know she kidnaps the reader into a fascinating world where you never know what to expect. Her writing style is smart, sensual and very raw. With this fourth installment of The Bellator Saga, she’s out to shatter your heart in the most delicious way and I was a glutton for punishment, the more my heart hurt the more I wanted to keep reading.

18895857._SY540_

Our heroine Caroline has been through such devastation and pain, that she is left with nothing but a goal to reinvent herself. She’s picking up the pieces from the ashes that remain from the dark explosion that used to be her life. She’s lost so much, only bitter pain remain inside her. She no longer allows herself to get attached to anything or anyone. Rage is her new religion, the only thing she believes in, even when she finds herself in the presence of Jack, again.

18895858._SY540_

Jack can’t contain his love and emotions the moment he realizes the miracle in front of him. His sweet Caroline is back; but when he looks into the eyes of his love he hardly recognizes her. As the days go by, he waits to make his move to reclaim his wife, but every time he tries to get close, hate is the only thing he gets from her. His heart breaks a little more each time. His devastation lays in the fact that no matter what he does, nothing seems to help Caroline find her way back to him, to her. She’s lost in a dark sea of hate and resentment and he is losing his mind trying unsuccessfully to pull her back.

I’m not going to lie, this is a very hard novel to read, but inside all the pain and darkness, there was still a ray of hope, a very faint light that guides the reader through this magnificent story, where the main star is a fierce love like no other. A love that is so powerful, that can build you up and bring you down to your knees, but I personally wouldn’t have it any other way.

Complex and intoxicating this story has branded me, making me a loyal fan of Jack and Caroline, for life. I’ll tell you, six books will not be enough for me. I will keep these books as gems inside the jewelry box of books in my heart; The Bellator Saga is truly a treasure.

Katy Evan has created some of the most incredibly sexy alpha males that I have had the pleasure of falling in love with over the year. First, there was Remy, then Malcolm Saint and now we have Tahoe Roth. I’ve been anxious to get my hands on Tahoe and Gina’s story ever since I read theManwhore series. The chemistry between them was pretty incredible. I thought that Gina was a real spitfire. We know that she has had her heart torn apart by her ex and since then she has closed that part of herself from the opposite sex but the connection she and Tahoe share is undeniable. I really was hooked and loved the first 28% of this story but then Gina turned into an immature and needy girl and I was starting to question how I was going to end up feeling about this book.

Tahoe and Gina definitely have a strong attraction for each other but they spend most of their time denying their feelings. Tahoe indulges in sex with many easy and available women. I lost count as to how many times the man was having relations with more than one woman at a time. Gina meets Trent at a party that he actually crashed and even though it is clearly obvious that he couldn’t be more wrong for her, she hangs on to this guy just to avoid being alone. I guess maybe because I’m much older and wiser now, I found Gina to be an annoying heroine. But she is only 23 and I can remember making a bad decision here and there about men at that age. So I gave Gina the benefit of the doubt.

Throughout this book, I couldn’t help but swoon over Tahoe and there was one scene in particular where I nearly combusted. The outdoor shower scene!!! This book is going to make you nearly die from the anticipation for the sexy time. Just be prepared that it is a VERY LONG WAIT. That was another reason I nearly combusted. I don’t remember when I ever waited that long for the hero and heroine to get it on in a story. It was slow and pure torture, but when it finally happens, well, it was worth the wait!

So overall I really enjoyed this one and clearly Katy Evans has succeeded in creating another HIT series. Be sure to one-click! The book went LIVE a little earlier than expected.

Then, six irresistible orphans and their heartbreakingly beautiful aunt crashed into his perfectly ordered life. They changed everything. They changed him. Now he’s a husband, an upstanding member of society, a father figure—a family man.

And he’s pretty damn good at it.

Sure, he has to referee sibling smackdowns, re-learn algebra, ensure his clients stay of jail, and keep his wife happy—but it finally feels like he’s got it together again….

So, of course something has to screw it all up. It’s huge. Life-changing. Kind of terrifying.

And it will be the most amazing, perfect thing he’ll ever do.

I absolutely positively LOVED this one so much! To me, this was way better than SUSTAINED. In that book, I wasn’t too crazy about Chelsea. I didn’t think she was worthy enough to end up with Jake. Well, I am happy to say I really loved her in this book and thought these two were perfect together. But they weren’t the only ones who made this story amazing for me. Every single one of their six children stole a piece of my heart. I laughed. I cried. I even fanned myself quite a few times, cuz, I mean, JAKE BECKER!!! Need I say more??!!

Sidebarred she makes me wish I was

I know I am in the minority here when I say that Stanton is my favorite book boyfriend in this series, but Jake definitely has me debating on whether I should reconsider my decision. I fell pretty hard for him this time around.
Jake and Chelsea have been married for two years and have a wonderful life with their six nieces and nephews, who have truly become their children. The couple decides that they want to add a new member to their family, and so they get right on with the baby making process. MAMA MIA!!!  I’m not kidding when I say you are going to have a hard time keeping your panties dry while reading this one ladies!!

Sidebarred don't know what I'd do

Emma Chase is one of my top favorite authors and she seriously delivered another KICK-ASS story for her readers. This woman knows how to create characters that steal your heart and stories that grab a hold of you and won’t let go. If you haven’t read The Legal Briefs series yet, you need to add it to your reading line-up ASAP!

I love reading about the Bennett family. What a delicious story about a sexy Alpha male and a strong heroine. This series is one, not to miss…

Logan is rich, handsome and such a gentleman, but make no mistake, this guy is a total alpha male. Logan is very protective of his sisters and when a woman is with him , he gives her the best treatment and care. For the past few years, he has been focusing mainly on his company and family; but his very nosy sisters have decided to play matchmaker and hook him up with Nadine, who is best friends with his brother’s fiancé.

Nadine is new to the city. She recently moved to NYC with a suitcase full of dresses and dreams. Always having to take care of someone, Nadine has had to put her goals and dreams on hold, but now she’s ready to finally take the plunge and open her own luxury dress store. She’s very focused and has no time for anything else, let alone love. But Logan Bennett is very hard to resist and once he offers her his help, little by little the man is on his way to claiming her heart.

I loved this story, not very high on drama but electric levels of high steam. This is one of those stories that will keep you smiling and sighing throughout the whole read. Sexy, sweet and very well written. Layla Hagen has done it once again because the more I discover about The Bennett family the more I want.

dirty kylie

The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that comes with her.

Finding out it’s with his best man is another thing all together. She narrowly escapes tying the knot and meets Vaughan only hours later.

Vaughan is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessman she thought she’d marry. This former musician-turned-bartender is rough around the edges and unsettled. But she already tried Mr. Right and discovered he’s all wrong-maybe it’s time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.

Lydia Green is a 25 yr. old woman who has moved to Idaho where she has a wonderful fiancé & works as a real estate agent with his family. Her world is turned upside down when she discovers on her wedding day that her groom is sleeping with the best man. In a panic, she flees as fast as she can to a cute little bungalow near by. She breaks into the home & hides in the tub to have her meltdown.

Vaughan Hewson is a sexy tattooed ginger whose band just broke up a couple months ago after touring with Stage Dive. He returns from LA to his childhood home to tie up some loose ends & finds a runaway bride trespassing in his home. His anger quickly turns to concern as he sees this beautiful woman is a mess & in need of help & kindness, and that she just needed a place to escape to.

When Lydia comes face to face with the owner of the house she is stunned speechless by his hotness. He is rugged & gorgeous & the opposite of her ex fiancé. After accidently seeing him naked, it’s all she can think about! She wants Vaughan bad & can’t quit daydreaming of his beautiful body & all the things she wants to do to it.

-God, he was pretty. The prettiest man I’d ever met.

-Oh, that sly little smile of his. It made my everything go weak.

Both Vaughan & Lydia don’t really want to be alone. They both have issues they are dealing with & find comfort & friendship in each other. They make each other laugh & are extremely attracted to one another. Vaughan lets Lydia stay in his guest room while she figures out her next step, & as they spend time together their friendship turns into more. Suddenly it’s time for them both to move on & they have to decide if they have are going to go their separate ways or figure out a way to be together. I really loved this book & can’t wait for the next one in this series.

-My world was so colored when it came to him. Every detail so vivid and real.

-Our connection was absolute and always would be. No matter where he went. No matter what he did. I’d lost a part of myself to him that I’d never get back.

*****4.5 STARS*****

For the first time in my life, I wanted a girl that wasn’t mine to have. And it sucked.

Sexy couple in underwear

This was like a modern day twist of the story, Pygmalion. Ian Hunter along with his best bud, Lex, run a secret business called Wingmen, Inc. They provide a sort of dating service to coeds on campus who need extra help in landing the men of their dreams. Their clients are usually shy and socially awkward. They teach the girls how to be more confident and how to gain the interest of the object of their affection. There is also a software program they use to make sure their clients are compatible with the men they’ve been crushing on. The guys have rules and a contract that each client must sign and follow. The women are sworn to secrecy and must vow to never give away their identities. One of the cardinal rules, which is also listed on the contract, is that neither Ian nor Lex are allowed to hook up with their clients. Ian’s world is about to be turned upside down by the new roommate of his friend, Gabi. The roommate who is about to become the newest client of Wingmen, Inc.

Blake comes from a small town in Idaho. She’s on the University’s Volleyball team and she has no fashion sense whatsoever. Blake likes to wear oversized sweatshirts, basketball shorts, and Adidas flip flops. She has hopes of winning the affections of her childhood friend, David. Not only is she a virgin, but she also has never been kissed.

Right from the start you can sense there is a strong attraction between Ian and Blake. The once NFL top draft pick and designated ladies’ man, for the first time in his life, finds himself smitten with a woman and he has no clue that maybe he’s stumbled upon the once in a lifetime chance at true love and happiness.

I couldn’t get enough of this one. The slow build to the love connection between Ian and Blake held my interest throughout and it was nearly impossible to put this book down once I got into the story.

Will Ian realize in time that he’s the right guy for Blake, or will he let doubt and a stupid software program destroy their chances at an HEA? You’ll have to pick this one up to find out. Looking forward to the next book, which I assume will be Lex’s story.
