REVIEW – WHEN LIFE HAPPENED by Jewel E Ann

SYNOPSIS

Parker Cruse despises cheaters. It might have something to do with her boyfriend sleeping with her twin sister.

After a wedding day prank involving a strong laxative, that ends the already severed relationship between the twins, Parker decides to grow up and act twenty-six.

Step One: Move out of her parents’ house.

Step Two: Find a job.

Opportunity strikes when she meets her new neighbor, Gus Westman. He’s an electrician with Iowa farm-boy values and a gift for saying her name like it’s a dirty word.

He also has a wife.

Sabrina Westman, head of a successful engineering firm, hires Parker as her personal assistant. Driven to be the best assistant ever, Parker vows to stay focused, walk the dog, go to the dry cleaners, and not kiss Gus—again.

Step Three: Don’t judge.

Step Four: Remember— when life happens, it does it in a heartbeat.

*****10+++++++++++ BREATHTAKING STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Her heart ached, the yearning kind of ache, the pain that came with wanting something so much but being too afraid to believe it could happen to her.

BREATHTAKING! That is only one amongst many words I would use to describe this book. There’s a reason why Jewel E Ann is one of my top favorite authors. Her writing is flawless. It evokes so many emotions from me. At times I laughed and when I thought I couldn’t fly any higher on a cloud of happiness, the story goes down a different path that shattered my heart and left me unable to feel anything but numbness from grief. And because Jewel is such a gifted writer she was able to piece back my broken heart with where the story takes us next.

I can’t even begin to express just how much I loved this story. To say that I consider it one of the “Best of 2017” still wouldn’t do it justice! What I can say without a doubt is that I think EVERYONE should read this book and if I could, I would gift a copy to all of you. This book is a treasure and one that you should go into truly blind. I would be doing everyone an injustice if I revealed even the tiniest bit about the plot. All I can say is that I loved the spunky heroine for her vivacious personality and even for her imperfections! There’s another character in here that stole my heart and well he comes really close to being my favorite of all of Jewel’s heroes. My biggest fear is that this book may have ruined me for all others to come after it!

WHEN LIFE HAPPENED is currently available. You need this book in your lives!! I can’t wait for you all to get a chance to read this one of a kind story!

6+++++ ~You’re The Ballad Of My Life Stars~

Never have I ever read a book by author Jewel E. Ann and not been blown away by her talent, and this one was no exception. She always brings us unique stories that make our hearts pump fast, our skins tingle and our brains explode. This author is the real deal. ❤

This book is about a girl who used to make plans, and organized her life to the very last detail but When Life Happened her plans were destroyed to smithereens, leaving her with nothing but mistrust and absolutely no direction in life.

She has a family who loves her and has her back no matter what but Parker is so full of hurt, she resents any type of love or help they offer. She just wants to start over, but the problem is that she doesn’t know where.

Life lessons will come to her in a painful way but she will learn to let go of the past and forgive because she learns how no one is safe from making mistakes and hurting others.

I know I’m being vague but I have to because my favorite thing about this book was how it was completely unexpected. There will be more than one type of love, there is hurt but also happiness and at the end of the book your heart will feel completely full. I will adore this book until the end of time, I will cherish it and remember it, forever.

Absolutely brilliant read, one definitely not to miss…

*****FIVE STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Under the moonlight with the wind kicking up her hair, I’m reminded of how much I love her. Hannah is my soulmate. My dark, dirty, hellion of a woman. It’s been quite the ride to get us to this point. I don’t want to lose her. Not now, not ever.

To say that this series is beyond crazy, dark, and addictive as hell is simply an understatement. K. Webster has managed to end this series like a cherry on top of a decadently delicious chocolate cake. She is the only author that can make you fall in love with the most heinous of villains, one who started off as a monster capable of doing the most unimaginable things. There have been quite a few books in this series filled with a number of Heroes but Gabe, the dark angel, is the one who completely stole my heart.

It took a woman who was his equal in depravity if not a bit more to turn him from villain to hero. But it wasn’t only the mentally unstable Hannah, but his children that Gabe adored more than life that brought about his redemption.

Gabe has been stuck in his own living hell since he and Hannah had their two children, Toto and Land. Without a doubt, Hannah loves them with all of her heart but the darkness inside of her that she has no control over threatens their family’s happiness every single day. She battles with the dark thoughts and the irrational possessiveness and jealousy over Gabe that plagues her mind. Gabe is at his wit’s end. He knows that it would only take one second where he had his back turned that Hannah could destroy their family. But this burden isn’t his alone to carry. Hannah feels that weight as well and is helpless against the way her twisted brain functions.

How will this all end for the twisted couple who couldn’t be more perfect for each other? Will their love be strong enough to save them or will it be their final undoing?

THIS IS THE END, BABY is currently available and a definite must-read if you have been keeping up with this series!

REVIEW – SHACKING UP by Helena Hunting

SYNOPSIS

Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before.

Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick.

Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from NYT and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****FIVE STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

I scan his naked body, wishing like hell for a photographic memory, because his body is a gift from the heavens. And that erection is magnificent.

SHACKING UP, the latest romantic comedy by Helena Hunting is guaranteed to be her next huge hit! It’s packed with Hunting’s signature brand of humor and is delectably schmexy! There’s a reason why she is one of my top favorite authors. I never doubt that when I pick up one of her books that I am going to be taken on a wildly fun and insanely comical journey. I not only have another book to add to my favorites shelf, but I also have another book boyfriend who took a piece of my heart. I’m pretty sure Bancroft Mills will be melting plenty of hearts and panties once this book is released!

Ruby Scott is an aspiring actress who has been living in New York City since graduating from college. She’s struggling to make ends meet but determined to get a role in a Broadway or Off-Broadway show because the alternative would be a living nightmare. Her father is a Billionaire who owns a highly successful pharmaceutical company whose wonder drug helps men with erectile dysfunction. He has frowned upon Ruby’s career choice and has asked her time and again to come back home to Rhode Island where he will set her up with a job in the family business. This is not an option for Ruby as she wants to make it on her own doing something that she loves more than life.

Ruby comes from money but she finds it hard to relate to people who run in those high society social circles. She’s vivacious and tends to say what’s on her mind at any given moment. She literally has no filter. Her luck has recently taken a turn for the worse when she ends up in a passionate kiss with one seriously gorgeous stranger at an engagement party. It was a case of mistaken identity due to poor lighting outside the bathroom and the guy was high on cold medicine because he was battling a nasty case of the flu. She ends up getting violently ill the next morning and utterly bombs during her audition for an off-off Broadway play. Not only does this make her financial situation even more dire, but she’s also served an eviction notice for being delinquent on her rent for the past three months. Ruby is about to lose all hope when her Bestie tells her about her Fiance’s cousin who is going to be out of the country for five months and needs someone to babysit his pets. She thinks that he would be willing to let Ruby house sit for him as well. When Ruby gets invited to dinner with her Bestie who is meeting her Fiance and his cousin, she couldn’t be more surprised to see the handsome stranger who gave her the most amazing kiss of her life as well as the nastiest case of the flu.

Bancroft Mills is an ex-professional rugby player and heir to a huge hotel chain. He hasn’t lived in New York for several years and now he’s looking to learn the family business and keep permanent residence in NYC. He is pleasantly surprised when he crosses paths with the beautiful girl he shared that unforgettable kiss with. He’s also beyond remorseful when he learns of her predicament due to the fact that he gave her the flu. Bane asks Ruby to house sit and care for his furry friends while he’s away in London. He helps her move in the next day and the two become roommates for a few days before his trip. It becomes apparent rather quickly that Ruby and Bane are wildly attracted to each other and keeping things platonic is one of the biggest challenges they’ve ever had to face. Somehow they manage to keep their libidos in check but over the next five months their sexy flirting over texts and facetime ends up building a close relationship between them and the possibility of things turning serious is thrilling and a bit scary as well. Ruby wants to be with Bane but not while she’s living in his condo and is receiving a salary from him for taking care of his fur babies. She’s very independent and refuses to let any man take care of her.

Will these two be able to work out their housing and employment issues or will an unfortunate misunderstanding between Ruby and Bane end up tearing the couple apart?

This was honestly such an incredibly enjoyable read for me. I love it when a book can transport me to another world and during that short period, the stress and monotony of everyday life are forgotten. Helena Hunting’s books always take me to my happy place.

SHACKING UP releases on May 30th! Mark your calendars and make sure you one-click!

*****Mel’s Review*****

4.5 Stars!

Ruby Scott is a beautiful 24 yr. old woman who comes from money. Her family owns Scott Pharmaceuticals & she grew up privileged in Rhode Island. She attended prep school & college with her best friend Amie, & now lives in New York following her dream of being an actress. Much to fathers disappointment, her degree is in theater. It’s her passion, & she just wants to do what she loves. The problem is it doesn’t always pay the bills & she struggles. She’s behind on rent, currently unemployed, and on the verge of being homeless. She wants to make it on her own & will do anything not to return home to work for her father. It would mean she failed. She has one last chance to turn things around with a big audition.

The night before her audition she attends her best friend Amie’s engagement party where a gorgeous stranger kisses her & then coughs on her. She wakes up sick & bombs her audition. She is panicking about her issues when her friend comes up with the perfect solution to all her problems. Amie knows someone with a luxurious penthouse whose going out of town & needs someone to watch his animals. Ruby is stunned when she meets her new possible employer & it’s none other than her awesome kisser.

Her mystery man is Bancroft Mills aka Bane. His family owns Mills hotels. He spent the last seven years playing professional rugby till he blew out his knee. Now his rugby career is over & his only option is working for the family business in hotel management. Working for his father will require a lot of travel, & will take him away from his pets. When he finds out how he got Ruby sick, he feels responsible & offers her the job of taking care of his pets till she can get back on her feet. She needs somewhere to live & he needs a pet sitter, so it’s the perfect arrangement for them both.

While Bane is away he & Ruby talk a lot. They really get to know each other & he finds her lack of filter & sense of humor refreshing. The longer he’s away, the closer they become. Soon all the late night chats & sexual innuendos turn into a real connection. By the time he returns home they are absolutely dying for one another & can’t resist any longer. These two are on fire for each other & it’s hot as hell!

-Jesus. This man is like a nuclear bomb of sexy, just waiting to go off.

-“This is what I want. You. The way you’re looking at me right now. This feeling right here.”

They soon are both extremely attached to each other & wanting more, but things are complicated since they are technically roommates & she’s still working for him.

This was my first book by Helena Hunting & it was fabulous! I love her fun, flirty writing style that’s full of humor, and super sexy. I adored Bane & Ruby and just loved this book! Can’t wait to read more by this author & hope we get a book for Lexington & Amie. :))

*****Dee’s Review*****

4.5 Sparkling Stars*****

A rockstar romance written by the wonderful pen of Erin Watt. Funny, complicated and totally dazzling. Prepare to be transported to a wonderful world of music, love and second chances.

Oakley Ford is a teen pop sensation, loved by all, the guy can have anything and anyone he wants. He hasn’t been able to put a new record out in the last two years, he hasn’t been able to find his true voice, there’s is much he wants to share with the world through his music, but he doesn’t know how. The problem is that he has been looking in all the wrong places. Excessive partying and quick and meaningless relationships have given him nothing but exhaustion. His record label has started to notice a decline in his numbers and they are pressuring him to get his act together, stop with the wild parties and get back into the studio to cut a new record that will keep him at the top of the charts.

Since Oakley is not able to find a solution to his problem, his manager has come up with the idea to find him a wholesome girl that he can fake date, and that way they will at least fix the party boy image in the public eye, and perhaps help him calm down a bit. The chosen girl is Vaughn Bennett, a seventeen-year-old high school graduate, who is taking a year off from college so she can help her family’s financial situation.

Vaughn lost both her parents two years ago in a car accident. Her older sister has been in charge of taking care of her and her younger twin brothers, working hard to provide for them. Vaughn has been lost ever since her parents died, she doesn’t have any clear direction for the future. When the opportunity to make a lot of money by dating the gorgeous heartthrob Oakley Ford for a year is presented to her, she hesitates at first but the future of her siblings is the most important thing to Vaughn, so she accepts.

Vaughn and Oakley couldn’t possibly be any more opposite from each other. While he grew up with money and everything he could ever wish for, Vaughn has always had to learn to work hard for life’s essentials. But one thing Vaughn has that Oakley doesn’t and he can’t ever buy; is the love of family. The more they fight, the more they are attracted to each other, and as it turns out there is a deep understanding between them. They seem to be the missing piece to the puzzle that is their life. They fall in love organically and it is such a beautiful romance, but can their love survive the differences of their worlds?

When It’s Real is one of those books that grabs your heart tightly from the moment you start reading it. The plot was bold and deeply beautiful and even though there are a million rockstar books out there, this one is definitely one you won’t ever forget.

*****Patty’s Review*****

*****4.5 STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Authors}

I don’t know when that happened, but somewhere along the line Vaughn went from the girl I was forced to have on my arm to the girl I want to have in my life.

Erin Watt fans prepare to fall head over heels in love with their latest collaborative masterpiece! These two authors have struck gold again with WHEN IT’S REAL. I am not particularly a huge fan of YA but when it’s done right even I can’t deny how enjoyable these romances can be. This enemies to lovers story between America’s #1 Pop Idol and a regular girl with absolutely no ties to the celebrity world was pure unadulterated fun for this particular reader.

Oakley Ford is going through a rough patch in his life. It’s been two years since he’s released an album and his creative juices haven’t been flowing. Lately, he’s been indulging in liquor and women and his bad boy antics have been providing enough fodder for the sleazy tabloids. Oakley desperately wants to work with one of the industry’s most sought after producers but his current reputation makes him an undesirable prospect. His manager is forcing him to get his act together and to do away with his bad boy behavior. The plan is to romantically link Oak to a down to earth girl who doesn’t have ties to the industry. He sees a picture of one of his employee’s sister on her desk and decides this girl is the key to boosting Oak’s image again.

Vaughn Bennett is a seventeen-year-old girl who was forced to grow up sooner than most teenagers when both of her parents were killed in a car accident. She graduated from High School a year early so that she could start working to help her older sister take care of their family which consists of their younger twin brothers, Vaughn, and her sister Paisley. When she is approached by Oakley’s management team with the proposal to become his girlfriend for a year and that it comes with a rather large salary, there is no way she can turn it down knowing that it would help to take care of her family.

Vaughn and Oakley’s first meeting is anything but cordial and neither make a really good first impression on each other. Oakley comes off as being narcissistic and condescending, while Vaughn seems to be headstrong and a bit of a spitfire. She actually intrigues Vaughn because for the first time he meets a girl who isn’t falling all over herself to be near him. While Vaughn thinks Oakley is a conceited jerk, she also used to have a huge crush on him and can’t seem to stop her stupid hormones from going haywire whenever he sings or gives her a smoldering look.

While both Oak and Vaughn start to feel something more for each other, the tiny doubt in the back of their minds that what they have is still “fake” keeps them from taking the risk and confessing what is truly in their hearts. When they finally take the plunge and give in to their feelings for the first time in their lives they’re feeling what could possibly be true love but can these two make it work when there are countless of people who would rather see them fall apart?

WHEN IT’S REAL is currently available! It’s a definite must-read!

4.5 He’s Worth Everything Stars!

Oakley Ford is a gorgeous 19 yr. old teen rock star living in LA. He’s the child of famous movie stars & has always been in the public eye. He’s been a young celebrity since he signed his first contract at the age of 14. Lately, the tabloids keep exploiting all his wild nights & partying, and his image has taken a hit. He just wants to make music he loves, & recently it all seems to fall flat. He’s experiencing a creative block, & hasn’t recorded anything decent since his last album a couple years ago. He’s had unreal success but doesn’t want to become a washed up pop star.

He’s trying to turn over a new leaf, & wants to be taken seriously. His dream is to work with his favorite music producer. His team decides it’s time for an intervention. He needs a full image makeover to show the world he’s settled down. The perfect way to do this is to find a good girl. An ordinary, normal girl the public can relate to.

Vaughn Bennett is a 17 yr. old girl who’s a part-time waitress & a devoted sister. After losing her parents, Vaughn & her siblings are barely keeping their heads above water. When a unique opportunity she’d normally never even consider comes her way, Vaughn decides to go for it. She’s offered a lot of money to be pop star Oakley Ford’s fake girlfriend for a year. She has the wholesome girl next door look. She’s the perfect nonfamous, down to earth girl for him to pretend date. She decides her family could really use the money & financial security.

Vaughn thinks fake dating Oakley Ford shouldn’t be too bad, but then she meets him. He’s a shallow, arrogant, conceited, egotistical jerk who thinks he’s better than everyone else. She’s totally unimpressed with the star. They initially clash, but then Vaughn begins seeing glimpses of the real Oak. He’s kind, & the more she gets to know the real him, the more she likes him. Soon she doesn’t feel like she’s pretending anymore, and real feelings are developing.

-I’m so into this girl it’s not even funny. And I know she’s into me, too.

-Under my mouth, she melts. Her own lips part and she kisses me back. And it’s everything I’d imagined. Better than fifty thousand people shouting your name. Better than a sold-out Madison Square Garden crowd singing your lyrics back to you. Better than the greatest song ever sung.

-“You’re beautiful. Every day I’m with you is brighter and more exciting than the last.”

To the outside, Oakley Ford has it all. A beautiful beachfront home, millions of adoring fans, a huge bank account, & a fabulous girlfriend. Lately, all he wants is to make new music & be with Vaughn. He loves spending time with her and is tired of playing make believe. His feelings are real, & he wants to be with her. She completely owns his heart.

Vaughn is caught up in Oak’s world of Hollywood, publicists, & being in the spotlight. Everything is confusing & overwhelming. The only thing she knows for sure is she wants Oak to be hers & she doesn’t want money to get in the way. Can this couple make it work, or will the media & outside influences try to destroy them?

I really enjoyed this book & loved Oak. Such a sweet, sexy, swoony rock star! I hope we get a book for Paisley & Ty next. :))

He’s hell bent on making Ripley his and he’s taking no prisoners. Her stubbornness is no match for Boone’s tenacity and Southern Boy charms!!

I wanted this, and I had no idea what had come over me. Maybe it was part of being on the run, but I wanted to sin. Wanted him to make me forget everything—my past, my mistakes…hell, even my own damn name.

This latest standalone by Kendall Ryan is packed full of panty melting steam and is simply an incredibly fun read. I couldn’t get enough of Luke and Charlotte. If you love a good “opposites attract/enemies to lovers” romance, then this one is sure to please you!!

Charlotte Freemont is a New York socialite who is on the run from the life that was mapped out for her by her family and her need to please her parents, who never seemed to have much interest in their daughter. Never could she have guessed that she would find her place in life in a small southern town in Texas, called Shady Grove. When her expensive sports car breaks down in Shady Grove, she is forced to spend a week there while she waits for the local mechanic to fix her car. She runs into a drop dead gorgeous but utterly annoying man and his identical twin while having lunch at the local diner. Both Luke and Charlotte jump to the wrong conclusions about each other based on preconceived stereotypes but when given the chance to spend some time together, they realize just how wrong their first impressions were.

Even though they’re practically at each other’s throats, in the beginning, neither of them can deny the building attraction between them. And soon they realize there is no amount of self-control that can keep them apart. Knowing that Charlotte’s time in Shady Grove is coming to a quick end, they both decide to just have some fun and wildly decadent sex with each other. Charlotte is bound for Los Angeles to start her new life and Luke isn’t about to get his heart broken by another woman who will eventually leave him behind.

Ultimately keeping things casual proves to be quite the challenge when they both start to realize that they fit like two missing pieces to a puzzle. Will secrets and past heartbreaks ruin their chance at an HEA? Or will Charlotte and Luke put their hearts on the line and risk it all for a once in a lifetime kind of love?

Fans of Kendall Ryan are in for a real treat with this one! And if you’ve never read anything by this author, then I highly recommend that you one-click when SEXY STRANGER releases on May 23rd!

REVIEW – CHEATER’S REGRET (Curious Liaisons, #2) by Rachel Van Dyken

SYNOPSIS

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken returns with a smoking-hot story about the satisfaction of plotting revenge on your ex—until he turns your world upside down again.

Austin Rogers’s dreams of domestic bliss involved watching Netflix and eating hot dogs with the love of her life. But then he cheated on her. And dumped her—as if the whole thing was her fault. To maintain her pride and restore her sanity, she decides to get revenge. It feels immensely satisfying to plot her ex’s downfall—but so does kissing him.

Thatch Holloway, a plastic surgeon straight out of residency, knows he ruined the best thing that ever happened to him. But not all cheaters are created equal. He got himself into this messed-up situation—true—but he has his reasons for what happened, and he’d do it all again to protect Austin.

He’s not over her. And she’s not over him.

Austin wants closure, but since Thatch refuses to give it to her, she takes matters into her own hands. She needs to write a human-interest piece for her MBA, so she demands the full plastic-surgery experience. Sparks fly as they’re forced to work together. But Thatch isn’t afraid to play dirty in return. And he’s still hiding something—something that has the power to destroy not only Austin but their second chance at finding forever…

My biggest mistake in our relationship wasn’t falling for Thatch; it was thinking that he needed me as much as I needed him.

Because when I touched him—my world felt full.
So how could it not feel that way for him?
How could he not feel the same?

So, like an idiot, I kissed him again—and sealed my fate against his mouth, knowing that his track record proved he was a cheater and that I didn’t have any part of him—even though he still held every part of me.

Thatch and Austin are the best friends of the hero and heroine from book one and I knew that their story was going to be just as good, if not better than their predecessors’. I was not disappointed one bit with this book! I enjoy a good ”love/hate” romance and CHEATER’S REGRET is definitely going to be categorized as one of my favorites in that genre! Get ready to fall head over heels in love with Thatch Holloway!

In book one Austin catches Thatch kissing Avery’s older sister, Brooke, which results in their breakup. Austin is still reeling from Thatch’s betrayal but she’s also deep in the throes of a major pity party until her bestie comes to save her from herself. Austin decides revenge is what she needs to get over her breakup with Thatch. Avery and Lucas are both her willing accomplices and the story is filled with laugh out loud moments when Austin creates a blog focusing on getting even with her despicable ex-boyfriend. The blog serves two purposes—one, it provides much-needed therapy for Austin—two, she uses it as her final project in her social media class at UW. When her pranks get a little over the top and her professor shoots down the premise for her blog, Austin is forced to change tactics. She decides that blogging about Thatch’s skills as one of the city’s top plastic surgeons might earn her the grade she needs to get her MBA.

Thatch agrees to help Austin, even though he knows that being around her on a daily basis will prove to be a danger to his heart. Kissing another woman was the last thing that he ever wanted to do but he did it with the best of intentions. Everything he did was to protect Austin. Being near her every day makes it nearly impossible to keep up the façade he created. Throughout the story, their chemistry was scorching hot and you can’t help but root for these two to find their way back to each other.

CHEATER’S REGRET releases on May 23rd! Make sure you one-click. You’ll want to meet Dr. Thatch Holloway!

REVIEW – BUNS (Hudson Valley, #3) by Alice Clayton

SYNOPSIS

Clara Morgan is living the dream, if you can call rebranding hotels that are desperate for a new life and running any kind of marathon a dream. Which she does. But the career she loves and the endurance races that keep her adrenaline pumping have kept her too busy to put down any roots. Growing up in foster care, she’s never been able to establish traditions of her own, which may be why she’s fascinated by the rituals that generations-old family resorts are known for. She’s especially interested in the Bryant Mountain House, and not just for their secret recipe for the yummy, gooey, can’t-get-enough-of Hot Cross Buns….

Archie Bryant, the man with the Buns, is fifth generation and one-day-owner of the charming yet run-down Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York. He’s determined to save his family’s legacy from the wrecking ball the old-fashioned way—by gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done. There’s no way Archie will be influenced by the new hotel branding expert his father brought in to turn one hundred and fifty years of tradition on its head just to attract a faster, younger, slicker crowd. But when some of Clara’s ideas start bringing in new, paying customers, Archie can’t deny that she may have just given him a shot at keeping his resort open.

It’s sticky, it’s messy, it’s sweet, it’s Buns.

*****Mel’s Review*****

4.5 Stars!

Clara Morgan is a single woman who works in Boston & enjoys running marathons. She loves her life & lives for her career. She grew up in foster care & never felt like she belonged anywhere, so she likes to stay too busy to put down roots anywhere. Her job is rebranding hotels that need new life breathed into them. She was recently hired to work on a hotel in upstate New York, & needs to knock it out of the park so she can hopefully make partner soon.

When Clara arrives at the Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York, she’s stunned by the Victorian beauty & gorgeous views. It’s a bit dated, but still unique & full of opulence. It’s a little run down, and in need of a face lift. She will have to find the perfect balance between old & new to save this hotel. She looks forward to taking this family run hotel into the modern age.

Clara runs into a road block when she encounters the son of the man who hired her. Archie Bryant is all about family & tradition. He’s upset his father has brought in a hotel branding expert to change things. He doesn’t like change. He wants to save & preserve his family’s legacy, but doesn’t like the idea of an outsider coming in & turning things upside down. His family has owned the property for almost 150 years & he will soon take over the hotel.

Clara clashes with the pretentious, snobby, rude hotel boy. All they do is argue, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t notice how insanely hot he is. This man is absolutely delicious, & all that arguing just leads to loads of sexual tension between them. As they work closely together Archie soon begins to realize Clara’s ideas aren’t so bad after all. They work together to try to keep the resort open & bring in new guests.

Clara & Archie become very close & start falling for one another. Clara doesn’t get involved to avoid getting hurt. She protects her heart by not letting anyone get too close. She’s made sure she never needs anyone. No roots, no attachments, & no real home. Just her job & her couple of good friends, so she feels like she’s been hit by a freight train when she realizes how wrapped up she is in Archie. She’s totally gone for him, & it scares her to death. Can she take a chance on love, or will her fear of being left again take over?

-He’s fucking incredible.

-I love when this man loses control and puts his hands on me.

-I’m telling you, it’s always the guys with the freckles and the glasses. They’re the ones you want to set your sights on. They’re the ones who’ll make you forget your name, but get you to say the filthiest things imaginable.

-“I want you, I fucking want you more than I ever thought possible.”

I loved this book so much! It’s my favorite of this series. Archie Bryant was so gorgeous, sexy & sweet. There’s just something about a hot nerdy guy who doesn’t know how irresistible he is. He stole my heart. Really enjoyed this one. Adored Archie & his yummy BUNS!!!

*****FOUR STARS*****

He put his hands on me. He put his lips on me. And it was all I could do to still feel the earth underneath my feet. Because when this man kissed me, I forgot everything

BUNS is the third installment of the Hudson Valley series that centers on the remaining single woman amongst the tight-knit trio of friends in which each story has been focused upon. If you enjoy the ”enemies-to-lovers” trope, then this is one book you’ll surely not want to miss. It was light on the signature Alice Clayton humor that makes her one of my top favorite authors, but the steaminess and heart made up for it in spades. Ladies get ready to fall in love with your next book boyfriend, ‘aka’ Archie Bryant.

Out of the three Heroines, Clara Morgan appears to be the most independent and career driven. She has never had time for serious relationships partially because of her demanding career in Hotel rebranding but mainly due to her deeply seeded fear of abandonment. Clara was separated from her drug-addicted mother at a very young age and grew up in the foster care system. She never experienced what it was like to be a member of a normal loving family, but when she met Roxie and Natalie, they did wind up giving her a little sense of belonging and family. But Clara’s deeply rooted insecurities always ends up making her feel like she’s the outsider in many situations. She’s about to meet the man who will push all of her boundaries and soon she’ll begin to feel the deep pangs of wanting to be a part of her own family.

Archie Bryant is the son of the owner of Bryant Mountain House– the current project that Clara is assigned to. He’s very proper, gorgeous, and just a tad bit standoffish at first. He’s not as open to change as his father is and fights Clara tooth and nail on most of her suggestions for improvement and renovations to his family business. But even with the seeming animosity between them, there’s also an almost instant strong attraction that they each feel for the other. Every interaction gets increasingly tense and heated which results in some seriously HOT steamy encounters for both Clara and Archie.

No matter how hard Clara tries to keep things professional between her and Archie, they ultimately succumb to their blazing hot chemistry. There is more than just physical attraction and as hard as Clara tries to push Archie away, it is apparent early on that her fears are no match for his tenacity. Archie made this book for me! I absolutely loved him. Life might have dealt him serious heartbreak but once he laid eyes on Clara, he knew she was the one for him and his patience and tenderness just about makes him the most swoon-worthy hero in this series!

Along with the rest of the gang from the previous “Hudson Valley” books, we also reunite with some of the beloved characters from the ”Wallbanger” and ”Redhead” series!

BUNS releases on May 23rd! Make sure you one-click! It will definitely have you wanting to take a weekend getaway in the Hudson Valley!

*****Dee’s Review*****

4 Mouthwatering Stars****

This is our third trip to the charming town of Bailey Falls and just like every other time before, I didn’t want to leave. I can’t help but fall in love with Alice Clayton’s stories and once again she’s given us a delicious story that will leave nothing but a sweet taste in your heart.

Clara Morgan loves her job. She goes around the world rebranding hotels. She has a knack for learning about a place and quickly assessing the problems and finding the best plan to breathe new life into these hotels that need help. Clara is super excited that her next project takes her to the town of Bailey Falls because that’s where her two best friends live. Clara is always traveling and doesn’t have a lot of time for relationships, which is fine with her, because she knows first hand that the more you open up your heart to people, the more prone you are to getting hurt, and Clara has had enough disappointment during her years in foster care, when she was a child.

Archie Bryant once loved, and he did it with everything he had but after losing said love and tragically, he’s closed off his heart and these days the only thing that grabs his attention, is working on his family hotel. Bryant Mountain House is where Archie grew up, he always knew that his future was to run this hotel he loves so much. The resort has been losing money, and his father who is still the CEO but is about to retire wants to bring in a hotel specialist that will help the hotel do better before he steps down.

Clara is immediately in love with the place, even though there’s no TV’s in its rooms; she can’t resist the charms of the property and especially of its delicious owner, Archie Bryant. Clara’s plan is to keep the charm the hotel has but to give it a bit of facelift, bring in new and fresh ideas that will compliment the traditions, and that way ensure that the hotel will to continue to thrive and be a desirable destination for travelers.

Archie feels overwhelmed by Clara, he doesn’t deal well with change and everything she represents is starting to rock his world and he doesn’t quite know how to deal with that. Both these characters are stubborn and for about half the story, it is pretty much like a battle of sexes, which makes it very entertaining for us readers.

Little by little Clara and Archie start collaborating in more than one way, and despite their differences, it turns out that they make a wonderful and explosive team, in and out the bedroom. But are they ready to let go of all the hurt from the past and move on into the strange, yet exciting territory that is their love?

This was another terrific addition to this fun series. I love reading about these three friends and about all the trouble they get into when they are together. You gotta love Alice Clayton for always creating these fascinating, independent and strong heroines that make us laugh and most of all, that inspire us. Read this amazing book and enjoy the good, the crazy and the sexy times…

REVIEW – THE WRIGHT BOSS (Wright #2) by K.A. Linde

SYNOPSIS

A new stand alone office romance from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

I’ve always had one rule:

Don’t mix business and pleasure.

But then Landon Wright comes home to his family’s construction company with a broken back and a beaten heart and ends up as my new sexy boss. As the office gets heated, I’m thinking about throwing the rulebook out the window.

If only there weren’t a million reasons this could never work.

We may have shared a single perfect kiss, but I can’t let our intense connection cloud my judgment. Not with everything I’ve worked for on the line.

Dating your boss is so very, very wrong…even if he feels so Wright.

*****4 Stars*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Here, we were together. Here, the rest of the world didn’t exist. Here, he wasn’t my boss. We were just two people taking what we could get—to hell with the consequences.

The main theme of this story is forbidden romance. We met Landon and Heidi in book one. Landon is Jensen’s younger brother, who also happens to be Emery’s High School sweetheart. He broke up with her after their senior year and it nearly destroyed Emery. Heidi is Emery’s best friend. She was friends with Landon as well and was there to help pick up the pieces when he left. Not only is Landon, Heidi’s best friend’s ex but he also happens to be married, and soon enough he becomes her boss at Wright Construction when his professional golf career is put on hold due to a back injury. To say that a romance between these two is ”forbidden”, is an understatement!

Landon and Heidi shared an intimate moment at one of their favorite hangouts. It was only a kiss, but that moment hasn’t left either of their minds for months. Now Landon is back in town, and his marriage is practically over. He’s finally opened his eyes to his wife’s deception and his family couldn’t be happier that he’s ending that marriage. Landon and Heidi run into each other at a high school reunion and they instantly feel that attraction that they’ve tried so hard to deny. But there are too many doubts embedded in Heidi’s mind about their relationship. She’s not willing to risk her heart over a man who just has too many things stacked against him. When he ends up being her boss it only causes further complications for the couple especially since there is a strict “no fraternization” rule between managers and their subordinates.

Heidi’s stubbornness is no match for Landon’s perseverance and once these two give in to their passion for each other, I guarantee readers are going to be panting for more. But can this couple overcome all of the tremendous obstacles that lay ahead of them?

THE WRIGHT BOSS releases on May 16th.
