5 “All I Want Is You” Stars!

Rowan Dugas is a pregnant widow from New Orleans whose whole world recently fell apart when she lost her husband in an MMA fight. Since his death, she’s just been trying to function one day at a time but continues to feel completely broken and alone. She lost her parents years ago & the only family she has left now is her in-laws & her sister-in-law Savannah.

Savannah wants to cheer Rowan up & take her mind off reality, so she arranges for Rowan to attend a show and a meet & greet in Houston to see her favorite band August on Fire. Rowan has been obsessed with their music for years, & it’s helped get her through some of the hardest times in her life. It was like her own personal therapy. Growing up she also had a huge crush on the lead singer Zane Larson. He was her favorite singer ever, & starred in many of her fantasies. She never thought she’d actually meet him, & was shocked by how approachable & kind he is.

Zane Larson is a super hot rock star from Houston who spends his time making music, touring, and hanging out with his two brothers Mike & Damien. He’s the middle brother & the lead singer of a popular rock band. His older brother brings his girlfriends sister-in-law Rowan to one of his concerts & from the moment he first see’s her she is all he can think about. He wants to get to know her, show her some fun & make her smile. They become friends & begin talking on the phone. Soon Zane suggests they get together & offers to fly to New Orleans.

“The” Zane Larson wants to take her out, & Rowan accepts. She can’t figure out his interest in her, but she could definitely use a distraction, so if this gorgeous celebrity wants to take her on a date she’s game. She figures he must be taking her out cause he feels sorry for her, but she’s still excited to get out of the house and have a good time.

The more time Rowan spends with Zane, the lighter her spirit feels. He’s practically a stranger, but oddly his presence always felt comforting. She could talk to him about things she couldn’t with the other people in her life. When he’s around she can escape reality & she’s happy. She begins to feel a little guilty as her feelings grow for Zane. Her heart doesn’t hurt as bad when she’s with this beautiful man. She laughs, smiles and can just live in the moment. He makes her feel cherished & cared for. She doesn’t need any complications in her life right now as a mother to be, but she doesn’t know how she can ever give him up.

Zane is completely enchanted with Rowan. He absolutely adores her & wants to be with her. Their timing is awful, but you can’t pick when you fall in love.

I loved this book so much! Sexy rock star Zane Larson finds the love of his life in Rowan Dugas. The situation isn’t ideal, but he goes for it anyway. He wants her to be his & fights for his place in her heart. This story was beautiful & this man totally stole my heart. He was so tender & swoon worthy with a heart of gold. Then you throw in the whole rock star aspect and I was a goner. I’m completely obsessed with these Larson brothers! Bring on Damien next!!! ;))

REVIEW – TYCOON by Katy Evans

SYNOPSIS

He wasn’t always this rich. This hot. This difficult.
Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me.
That man is gone.
In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city.
He’s a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman.
The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin.
It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help.
I didn’t expect him to offer it easily.
And he doesn’t.
Instead, he vets me harder than he’s vetted anyone.
Don’t invest in what you don’t know, he says.
He’s assessing every piece of me, to the point I’ve never felt so bare.
I yearn for the boy I once knew, whose touch once craved me.
Putting it all on the line will be worth it, I tell myself.
Until I realize—too late—that some risks are not worth taking.

5 Stars!

-“There’s always been a you and I. Except only you and I know it. Only you and I know all the touches that never happened. All the kisses we never took. All the damned dances I didn’t dance with you.”

Bryn Kelly is a gorgeous single thirty-year-old woman who moved to New York about six weeks ago to follow her dream. She has a business plan, but can’t get her project off the ground without help. She’s looking for money for her startup & her friend scores her a meeting with the most powerful investor in the city. It’s her last chance to convince someone to fund her idea.

Her meeting is with the hot shot, wealthy real estate tycoon, Aaric Christos. Bryn & Aaric went to high school together, & she hasn’t seen him in twelve years since he left Austin. She wasn’t sure if he’d even remember her after all this time. Years ago he had wanted her, but she was too afraid to get hurt. He was always a bit of a bad boy & a lot to handle. His fire always shined a little brighter than the rest. He was hardworking and hot-as-sin. She had her chance but just wasn’t ready for him. It was her fault they never got together & she regretted it.

Bryn comes face to face with the boy from her past who was always a little rough around the edges. The boy she once knew is long gone. What she’s looking at now is all man. He’s a polished, filthy rich, extremely influential man living in luxury on Park Avenue. He’s absolutely stunning & she’d give anything for him to want her again like he once did. She’s so impressed by the man Aaric has become. He’s known to sometimes invest in startups, so she hopes he will take a risk on her.

Aaric can’t believe the girl he was crazy about all those years ago is standing in front of him. He’s always had this instinct to protect her, & care for her. He wants to help her but decides to make her work hard for it while he vets her. The more time they spend together, the more desperate he is for her. The sexual tension keeps building till their both about to explode if they don’t touch one another.

-I want all of this man.

-It’s an obsession, an addiction, a complete infatuation.

-There’s an odd little tug from his body to mine as if there’s a force trying to lure me closer to him, a magnetism in him that’s primal and animalistic.

-I want everything this guy can give me. Things no one in my life has ever given me. Forbidden things that scare me, thrill me, churn a crazy wildfire inside me.

-There are the kinds of things that you don’t choose- they just happen, sometimes with people you don’t want to react to as fiercely as you do. Christos has always been mine. My what if, and also my why him. Right now he’s the center of my universe. His nearness all I know.

Bryn fell for Aaric when she was 17 & has been fantasizing about him for years. He’s a reminder of her childhood, and of everything she once loved & lost. Could she finally get a second chance to make things right & be with him, or will outside forces get in the way.

I loved Aaric Christos. He never forgot the one that got away. After all that time, he still held a place in his heart for his Bryn. This was a beautiful story about second chances & following your heart.

”I wanted you before. That doesn’t hold a candle to the way I want you now.” He takes my shoulders, looking at me. ”I’ll try to be patient. I didn’t have time before, but I do now,” he continues.”But you’re something I’ve wanted for a very long time, Bryn, and I’m only human.”

Katy Evans is one of those authors that evoke feelings of anxiety whenever I hear she has a new book coming out. I mean this as a very HUGEcompliment! The waiting is what kills me and the fear that maybe I won’t get approved for an advanced reader copy!! The struggle is real my friends!! She has this gift for creating some of the sexiest alpha male Heroes who instantly steal my heart. I know that when I read one of Katy’s stories that I am going to be swept off my feet by an exhilarating romance! TYCOON is a story about two High School friends who get a second chance at true love. We will be traveling from past to present quite often throughout the book to help us feel the deep connection between the Hero and Heroine that even twelve years of separation couldn’t destroy. Ladies be prepared to fall head over heels for Aaric Christos!!

Aaric and Bryn were the best of friends during High School but always beneath the surface was a deep attraction between the two. They never acted upon their desires for very different reasons. Bryn knew that there was something truly special about Aaric and her greatest fear was that she would lose him if they moved passed friendship because she wasn’t certain that a romantic relationship would last between them. Aaric was enamored with Bryn from the moment he laid eyes on her, but he always felt that he wasn’t good enough for her at that time. He was just a mechanic and he thought she deserved so much more than he could ever give her. It was what motivated him to work hard to become one of the most successful businessmen in New York City years later. Towards the end of High School, Aaric moves away with his family and it will be nearly twelve years till the two cross paths again.

Bryn has suffered great loss in recent years. Her parents tragically died in a building fire and the department store that the family once owned has been sold. Bryn moves to New York City in hopes to start a new chapter in her life but she’s nearly broke and doing odd jobs to get by. She does have a passion for clothing design and has a plan to start her own business, but she needs financial backing. As luck would have it, Aaric has expressed interest in her potential business venture. When the two meet after having lost touch for so long, the chemistry is undeniable. You can feel the sizzle coming off of the pages. Aaric has a sexy and commanding presence and Bryn can’t help but feel light-headed and weak in the knees whenever she’s in a room with him. Their initial encounters are flirtatious and there’s no denying the heat these two generate when they’re together.

Aaric doesn’t jump into a business venture with Bryn too quickly. He makes her work for it. He knows she has potential to do great things and he wants her to think of the big picture and come up with a plan to make her clothing line stand out from all the rest. As they start to develop their business relationship, there seems to be no way of denying the passion that is building between them as well.

Bryn is once again afraid that if they become romantically involved that she will inevitably lose Aaric and their business deal will also be ruined. She’s already lost two very important people and she knows she will not survive it if she were to lose Aaric as well. But he let her get away once and he has no intentions of doing that again. His feelings for her have intensified and he is determined to get what he wants.

Will they be able to get it right this second time around or will past mistakes repeat themselves?

REVIEW- STAY (WAGs #2) by Ellen Kennedy & Sarina Bowen

SYNOPSIS

Can you fall in love with someone you’ve never even met?

Hailey Taylor Emery has a hunch that her favorite client at Fetch—an anonymous virtual assistant service—is actually hockey star Matt Eriksson.

Although it’s against the rules for her to check his file, she’s 95% sure she spends at least part of each day texting with her lifelong crush and catering to his every need. Still nursing a wounded heart thanks to her recent breakup, Hailey is perfectly content with some harmless online flirting… until she has to meet her client. Face to face. Cue: utter panic.

Matt Eriksson is no stranger to heartbreak. He’s still not over the destruction of his marriage, and it sucks to be the only guy on the team who knows the truth—that hockey and long-term relationships are a toxic mix. He barely sees his kids, and dealing with his ex makes him feel insane. The only person in his life who seems to understand is someone who won’t show her pretty face.

But it’s nothing that a pair of fourth row hockey seats can’t fix. Hailey can’t resist the offer. Matt can’t resist Hailey. Good thing he doesn’t have to. Fire up the kiss cam!

Warning: Contains rabid hockey fans, misunderstood dick pics, hockey players at the opera and exploding ovaries.

*****Mel’s Review*****

4.5 Stars!

Hailey Taylor Emery is a 29 yr. old woman who married her childhood best friend, & then recently divorced. They had known each other their whole lives and were well suited, but had no spark. Hailey and her ex started a business called Fetch, Inc. It’s Toronto’s premier virtual assistant company that’s open 24/7 & often caters to a wealthy customer base. They offer their clients the option to stay anonymous & have whatever they desire hassle free.

Hailey has been a bit too focused & obsessed with one of her clients. Sniper87 is her favorite client. They chat often since she does so much work for him. She’s developed quite the active fantasy life involving him, & thinks she may have figured out his identity. She’s pretty convinced her mystery customer is the hot forward for Toronto’s professional hockey team, Matt Eriksson. He’s her long-time celebrity crush. She’s dying to know if it’s Matt, but can’t cross that line professionally.

Matt Eriksson is a hockey star who got divorced last summer after his wife left him. His life now is focused around playing hockey & spending time with his four-year-old twin daughters. Since he divorced women were no longer a priority. He’s not interested in one night stands or anything serious, so he’s just not dating. The only person in his life that seems to understand him lately is a woman he’s never met. A woman from Fetch that he’s been chatting with for almost a year. While she’s catering to his every need he enjoys some harmless flirting. Recently his curiosity has taken over, & he’s dying to get a glimpse of her in person. He knows she’s a huge hockey fan, & he decides to offer her hockey seats to a game so he can finally see her.

-He makes my body light up in ways so foreign to me that it’s clear I’ve been doing something wrong my whole life.

-I want him all the time.

Matt & Hailey finally meet. They both are no stranger to heartbreak & find they have a lot in common. They begin spending time together and Hailey is a ball of nerves. She can’t look at the delicious body that’s starred in all her fantasies without wanting to touch him. Things soon heat up, & Hailey has never experienced the kind of all consuming passion Matt delivers. Feelings start to develop, but can they get over their past relationship hang ups long enough to have a future together?

I really enjoyed this book! Matt Eriksson was sizzling hot & super swoony!

Matt takes e so far out of my comfort zone that our first date caused me a week of shallow breathing and a loss of focus. I’ve never been so shaken by anyone.

I can’t get enough of the WAGs series! There’s just something about Hockey players that makes them so much sexier than any other type of athlete. Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen have successfully created another series filled with lovable Heroines and the sexiest and rugged group of professional hockey players who are sure to steal a reader’s heart. I found it impossible to put this book down and stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it, but it was so worth the lack of sleep!

Hailey Taylor co-owns an online personal assistant service with her ex-husband. She and Jackson were childhood friends who eventually became romantically involved in high school and were married fairly young. Their relationship was always more of a friendship and lacking any passion. When Jackson asked for a divorce it broke Hailey’s heart but deep down she also felt relieved and their split was amicable. For over the past year, Hailey has been fantasizing about one of her clients, SNIPER87, who she has been communicating with via instant message. Her company protects the identity of their high profile clients and for that reason, she has never tried to look at his profile to find out who he is, but she has a gut feeling that she knows who he is. All clues point to him being one of Toronto’s sexiest Hockey players, Matt Eriksson. Hailey is a HUGE fan of Matt’s and so the highlight of her days are the instant messages she shares with him.

At thirty-years-old, Matt is one of the oldest players on the team. The days of having sex with a different puck bunny every night have long lost their appeal to him. Matt’s wife filed for a divorce over a year ago. Although their marriage was far from perfect and the love was practically non-existent, he was still shocked when his Ex declared that she wanted out of their relationship. They have four-year-old twin daughters, who are Matt’s world and not being able to live under the same roof with them has been a devastating blow. His ex was not thrilled with his career in hockey and blamed it for ruining their marriage. Since his divorce, Matt hasn’t been with a woman and he’s not sure he’ll ever be able to be in another committed relationship again.

Hailey and Matt have never met face-to-face, and Matt also fantasizes about Hailey. He saw a picture of a woman on her company’s website that he assumed was her and since then he’s harbored a little crush on her. Matt thinks of a way he can confirm if Hailey is the woman in the picture–he asks her to come to his place to walk his dog while he’s away for the weekend. Security camera footage in his condo gives him the proof that he needed. Once he sees the beautiful woman on his camera feeds, Matt decides they must meet in person.

Hailey is a complete mess whenever she is in the same room with Matt and he finds it super adorable. Eventually, he gets her to go out with him and while she jumps at the chance, Hailey also thinks Matt is way out of her league and that maybe the first guy she dates after her divorce shouldn’t be someone as sexy and amazing as Matt. Even as they start to spend an enormous amount of time together and Hailey becomes close with all of the WAGs, there’s still a little voice in her head that warns her not to get comfortable and that eventually, Matt will let her go.

While Matt is starting to have serious feelings for Hailey, he’s not sure if he can promise her a forever. His history with his ex has convinced Matt that he is not relationship material and that eventually, he’ll only end up disappointing Hailey.

Will Matt and Hailey be able to work through their baggage from the past?

REVIEW – DANGEROUS RUSH (Furious Rush #2) by S.C. Stephens

SYNOPSIS

Feeling the rush comes with a price…

Mackenzie Cox has lost everything—except Hayden Hayes. With Kenzie’s racing career over, and her family no longer speaking to her, Hayden has been her rock, as she tries to pick up the pieces of what was once her life.

But when Hayden’s racing team hires his beautiful ex-girlfriend, Felicia, to be their new hotshot rider, Kenzie and Hayden’s seemingly solid relationship begins to crack. Kenzie can only watch from the sidelines, as Felicia lives the life she was forced to leave behind, and as tension begins to build between Hayden and Kenzie, she wonders if Hayden isn’t the man she once knew.

*****Mel’s Review*****

4.5 “You’re My World” Stars!

Mackenzie Cox is a professional motorcycle racer living in Oceanside, California. Racing had always been her dream, & she didn’t have a Plan B, so she didn’t know what to do when everything she loved was abruptly stripped away. Cox racing closed & her father gave her an ultimatum and made her choose between her boyfriend and competing. Kenzie chose Hayden & is now left without a team. She’s trying everything she can to get on a team before the new season starts, but her dad blacklisted her & blocked her from the sport she loves. Her father pulled a lot of strings to make sure she was rejected, & nobody would take her. She’d lost everything but Hayden & felt like she was drowning without her family & career. To make matters worse, Hayden’s ex-girlfriend is hired to race on his team, & Kenzie is forced to watch from the sidelines as Felicia lives the life Kenzie had to give up. Kenzie just wants her old life back & be able to also be with the man she loves.

Hayden Hayes is a former street racer who is now racing legitimately for Benneti Motorsports. His ex who he hasn’t seen in four years shows up out of the blue & complicates his life by causing tension in his relationship with his girlfriend Kenzie. Kenzie is the only person in his life that stuck by his side & put him first. He had a sense of belonging when he was with her. She had become his home, & he’d do anything to keep her. He wanted to find a way to help her compete again. She belonged on a bike & he’d do whatever it took to get her there. He felt responsible & wanted to fix things for her.

-Very few people understood me like she did- our interests, our competitiveness, our tragic pasts, our fiery passion- it was like she was designed specifically for me. Thank God fate had put us on a path toward each other.

-She was the most beautiful thing in the world to me.

-She was mine, and I had no intention of ever giving her up. Not without a fight.

-“You mean everything to me, Kenzie.”

-“You’re my heart, my soul, my everything.”

-“You belong wherever I am.”

Racing, the thing that brought them together, was now a touchy subject. Hayden tried to be supportive while Kenzie continued trying to pick up the pieces of her life. He had something incredible with Kenzie & wouldn’t give it up, but suddenly everything & everyone seemed to be conspiring against them. Their relationship is strained, & things begin to fall apart. Will love be enough when secrets and lies are revealed?

I really enjoyed this book & can’t wait for the next one. This book was full of angst & love. I can’t get enough of the delicious Hayden Hayes!

4.5 Stars!

-You made me feel like the world began and ended with me.

Drew Davies is a 39 yr. old gorgeous single man living in London. He’s built one of the most competitive estate agencies in the city & had a passion for his work. He doesn’t have much free time outside of the office & spending time with his daughter. He doesn’t date, & since his best friend Jesse sold the Manor, he’s been forced to find a new place to play & let off some steam. He now frequents the Hux sex club to fulfill his needs. This lifestyle suits him. He’s all about decadent fantasy with no strings pleasure. He likes easy with no commitments, expectations, or drama. Just raw, carnal sexual experiences. Hux is relaxing & it’s what he likes. He was burned in the past, & as a result, isn’t trusting of women. The only female he’s ever committed to is his 7 yr. old daughter. Georgia is his world, & he reserves all his emotions for her.

One evening Drew is introduced to a woman named Raya who has certain requests at the club. She specifically asks for someone cold, emotionless & filthy, & you can’t get any more emotionless & detached than Drew. She’s told about Drew but is shocked by how good looking he is when she meets him. She’s extremely attracted to him but wants a night to forget with no risk of feelings. He’s come highly recommended, & she’s ready to see all her deepest desires come to life.

When Drew lays eyes on the stunning Raya he’s intrigued by the newbie. He quickly realizes he’s going to thoroughly enjoy fulfilling her requests. Once he touches her, he soon figures out there is something different about her. It’s electric between them. He’s so lost in the moment with her & he finds himself wanting to know her story. She’s beautiful, but there’s a sadness about her. She’s a mystery he wants to solve.

-“I can blow your mind.”

-“You ready to get completely lost?”

-Raya radiates a soft, almost innocent sexiness that I’ve never encountered before. It’s a powerful quality she holds, and it’s even sexier because she doesn’t realize she has it.

-She is just effortlessly sexy, and that’s just one of the things I find so attractive about her. As well as her brutal beauty and the fact that she’s found feelings in me that I never knew existed.

Suddenly Drew’s having feelings of possession that are unsettling. Raya’s become a complication he doesn’t need, but he can’t control how badly he wants her. He was content with his life until this incredible woman. They both feel a strong connection they can’t deny.

Raya was t supposed to get attached to Drew. It was sex and nothing more. Now she is falling for Drew & wondering if they could be more.

This was a sexy fun novella that takes us back to the This Man series. It’s about Jesse’s friend Drew, but we also get some scenes with all the gang. It was a super sexy fabulous read!

The burning ache within me amplifies, and my head swims with the memory of every second I had her restrained and at my mercy. But somehow, now I realize that it was entirely me at her mercy. Just like now. This woman is stirring something in me.

THIS MAN is one of my all-time favorite series and Jesse Ward will always top the charts as one of my most beloved book boyfriends. I was more than thrilled when I got to spend a little more time with The Lord of the Manor in ALL I AM: DREW’s STORY. I don’t think Drew ever really had a chance to shine before but now in his own book he comes across as extremely sexy and dominant. He’s the last of his friends to remain single and Drew has no plans of ever changing his status. Sometimes plans don’t always work out the way people want them to.

Drew still frequents a sex club at least once a week to get his physical needs satiated. A woman asks to be set up with him because she heard he was the best and that he’s cold and emotionless, which is exactly what she needs. The moment Drew and Raya meet, they both feel something intense stirring between them. Their first time together is better than anything they’ve ever experienced, but they go their separate ways because it was only meant to be a one-time thing. By happy coincidence, Raya ends up being one of Drew’s potential clients. He owns a real estate firm and Raya is looking to sell her home and she’ll be leaving the country once it is sold. There’s something about the look in Raya’s eyes that has Drew wanting to learn more. He’s unexplainably drawn to her and can’t seem to get her out of his mind. This tickles his friends because they know a thing or two about falling hopelessly in love and are both thrilled to see that cupid’s arrow has finally got a hold of Drew.

Will Drew get his head on straight and fight for his chance at love? Or will it all slip through his fingertips when secrets are revealed?

REVIEW – NOTICE by K. Webster

SYNOPSIS

I didn’t notice her before…but now I do.
The shiny strands of gold in her silky brown hair.
Tiny crinkles between her eyebrows when she frowns.
Her passion for neatness.

Once I focus on her, I can’t take my eyes from my newest obsession. Ever.
I need to know everything about her.
Her past. Her present.
The way she takes her coffee.
Exactly how she smells after a spritz of perfume in the mornings.

She’s perfect in every way and I was blind.
But, God, now do I see.

I notice the organized way she arranges her clothes in her closet.
How she visits the same market each Saturday.
The sounds of her breathing as I lie beneath her bed in silence.

Violet is mine.
She just doesn’t know it yet.

***WARNING***
Notice is a dark and unusual romance. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to dark themes, then this story is not for you. If you aren’t into super obsessive stalkers, then this story is not for you.

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Sometimes love isn’t black or white. Sometimes love isn’t even in color. For me, love is red. Bloody, dripping, bright, crimson. Violent.

I’m not even sure how to categorize this one. It was dark but at times I found it to be bizarre and a bit silly, but overall I absolutely had a great time reading it. This was one seriously naughty and decadent, guilty pleasure read. The story is over the top ridiculous but I do believe that is what the author was going for and the Hero, although sexy as hell, was borderline psychotic. Even with his extremely creepy tendencies, I couldn’t help loving Grayson Maxwell!

Violet Simmons is a woman with a horrific past that she was able to escape six years ago, but it still haunts her on a daily basis. Her ex-boyfriend was violent, abusive, and made sure to keep her strung out on drugs. He also pimped her out to make money that he mostly spent on narcotics. But that’s her past and now she works for a real estate brokerage and has her own little one-bedroom apartment. She sends a big percentage of what she makes home to help out her mom. Violet has been dissatisfied with her job for a while because there are several men who make inappropriate advances towards her and her boss has never acknowledged her in all the years that she has worked for him. On the day she walks towards her boss’s desk and slams her two weeks’ notice in front of him it’s like a light switch was flipped and he is finally noticing her. Actually, he becomes 100% consumed and obsessed with her.

Grayson Maxwell is a very odd man. He was once a sniper for the Marines and during a mission that went wrong he was badly injured but the ordeal messed up his psyche more than his body. Grayson has a one track mind. He only seems to be able to focus on one thing at any given time so everything goes unnoticed by him and that’s why he never really saw Violet until the morning she tries to quit. Now that she has come into his line of sight, he is completely enthralled with her and he becomes worse than a stalker. Gray breaks into her apartment at night while she’s sleeping and somehow manages to get her naked without her ever waking up! Yea RIGHT!! Then he fondles her and pleasures himself while she sleeps. That’s not even the creepiest part—he crawls under her bed and jacks off while she sleeps on the bed above him! I literally laughed so hard but I’ll admit I found this to be highly erotic as well!! K. Webster is really quite talented in making the most bizarre and disturbing men, sexy as hell!

Gray and Violet start to build a relationship and he works hard to make things better for her in the office. He also makes it his sole responsibility to keep her safe, which means he has his sights set on the evil Ex who is still out there somewhere and poses a threat to Violet’s wellbeing, but she still has no idea that Gray has been sneaking into her bedroom every night while she sleeps. Will Gray’s creepiness or Violet’s Ex tear these two lovers apart?

REVIEW – BAD PENNY by Staci Hart

SYNOPSIS

Nothing good comes after the third date.

Date three is the crucial point when things get real, which is exactly why I bounce out the door, twiddling my fingers at whatever poor boy I’ve left behind. Because if I stick around, one of three things will happen: he’ll profess his undying love, he’ll get weird and stalky, or I’ll go crazy. Like, Sid and Nancy crazy. Like, chase-him-through-the-streets-begging-him-to-love-me crazy.

Seriously, it’s better for everyone this way.

So when I meet Bodie, I figure it’ll be the same as it ever was. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t put a single string on me. Doesn’t matter that he’s funny and smart and jacked or that he can play my body like a grand piano. Because even though I’m built for love, love has only carved me up like a Christmas ham.

Resistance is something I can only hang on to for so long, and he has persistence in spades. But my heart isn’t as safe as I want to believe, and neither is his. And the second I ignore my cardinal rule is the second I stand to lose him forever.

5 AWESOME STARS*****

I had never read a Staci Hart book before and now she has a new fan, for life! I can’t even begin to explain the awesomeness that this book is. Tons of laughter, tons of hot sex, tons of crazy best friends shenanigans, just over the top amazing. And now I want more!!!!!

Penny is a tattoo artist who lives life on the fun side. She doesn’t have time for heartache, which is why she always keeps it simple with the guys she meets. If the guy is hot and the sex is great, Penny will give him three dates then move on to the next guy. Uncomplicated fun and everybody wins.

Penny has a great job she loves, amazing best friends who are also her roommates and a beautiful array of men willing to show her a good time, so she’s having the time of her life.

One day she meets a gorgeous guy that after three dates Penny simply can’t give up. This guy is someone from her past who knows exactly why Penny keeps love far away from her.

Bodie is a hot mathematician who develops video games for a living and also loves to surf. Bodie is a fun guy, and he’s been crushing after Penny for a long time and now that he has his chance, he will do anything to show her how great relationships can be. The problem is that bad habits are hard to shake and sometimes love just isn’t enough.

I LOVED THIS BOOK, it has everything I look for in a great read. The writing style was simple yet skilled and the plot and characters were relatable, easy to love and impossible to forget. I love a book with a strong heroine who makes me laugh and isn’t afraid to be herself. I can see myself reading Staci Hart books forever and ever. Make sure to check out her books, because I can tell that they are all full of good times.

REVIEW – I KNEW YOU WERE TROUBLE (Oxford #4) by Lauren Layne

SYNOPSIS

New York City’s hottest bachelors are stirring up trouble in this fun, flirty Oxford Novel, as a love triangle forces a feisty beauty to choose between winning back Mr. Right or giving in to Mr. Wrong.

Taylor Carr has it all—a sleek job in advertising, a stunning Manhattan apartment, and the perfect man to share it with: Bradley Calloway. Even after Bradley dumps her for a co-worker on move-in day, Taylor isn’t worried. She’ll get her man eventually. In the meantime, she needs a new roommate. Enter Nick Ballantine, career bartender, freelance writer—and longtime pain in Taylor’s ass. Sexy in a permanent five-o’clock-shadow kind of way, Nick knows how to push Taylor’s buttons, as if he could see right through to the real her.

Nick’s always trying to fix people, and nobody could use a good fixing more than Taylor. Sure, she’s gorgeous, with mesmerizing silver eyes, but it’s her vulnerability that kills him. Now that they’re shacking up together, the chemistry is out of control. Soon they’re putting every part of their two-bedroom apartment to good use. Then Taylor’s ex comes crawling back to her, and Nick figures she’ll jump at the chance to go back to her old life—unless he fights for the best thing that ever happened to him.

*****FOUR STARS*****

This latest installment in the OXFORD series is an ”Enemies-to-Lovers” romance. We met Nick Ballantine and Taylor Carr in the previous book and from their initial encounter, I knew these two were going to have explosive chemistry and I wasn’t disappointed.

Taylor Carr works in the advertising department at Oxford magazine and loves her job. She’s a no-nonsense headstrong woman who has been labeled an ice princess. It’s a term that doesn’t sit well with her. Taylor has a hard time showing any sort of vulnerability and it’s mostly due to the fact that she lost her parents at a very young age and was raised by her aunt, who was never a warm or affectionate person.

Nick Ballantine is a freelance writer for Oxford who also works part-time as a bartender. He’s been offered a permanent position but always turns it down because he likes the freedom of being able to come and go as he pleases. That’s how he feels about relationships as well after having been burned pretty badly by his last girlfriend, but he can’t deny the strong pull he feels towards Taylor.

When Taylor and Nick first meet there is a spark that ignites between them but more often than not, their interactions end up in a heated argument. They could never seem to get their timing right. When Taylor was single, Nick wasn’t and vice versa. It’s not until almost a year later that the two end up being single at the same time and Nick becomes Taylor’s roommate when her Ex abruptly breaks up with her. Things are rocky during the initial weeks of living together but eventually the two settle into an amiable coexistence and the feelings that they have kept buried deep down for each other start to resurface.

As they both give in to their attraction to each other, an unexpected situation and opposing views of what they want in the future threatens to tear the couple apart.

I KNEW YOU WERE TROUBLE is currently available! If you haven’t read the Oxford series it is definitely one I would highly recommend. It is my favorite series by the author.

REVIEW – SUGAR & GOLD (Dreamcatcher, #2) by Emma Scott

SYNOPSIS

***A new adult STANDALONE from the author of Full Tilt and The Butterfly Project***

Nikolai Alexei Young was born with a special gift…one he’d do anything to lose. The heart and soul of every person he comes into contact with is an open book to his heightened senses. Colorful emotions, whispers of thoughts, the sour tastes of old memories…He feels them all. The sci-fi books would call him an empath. For Nikolai, his ability has made him an exile. He roams the U.S. alone, avoiding the glut of life in big cities, and using his innate talents to win money in underground poker games. Just enough to keep going, one town to the next. He has no hope that his life can be anything else, until he meets her…

At nineteen, Fiona Starling was trapped in an ugly, desperate situation until she freed herself the only way she knew how. Now three years later, living outside Savannah, Georgia, she is rebuilding her life on her own terms; seizing every moment and saving every penny so that she might fulfill her dream of moving to the raw wilderness of Costa Rica. But behind her carefree smile beats the heart of a lonely young woman haunted by her past, until a chance encounter with a tattooed stranger changes everything…

Fiona takes Nikolai under her roof for three sultry nights, waiting out the rain of a summer storm. She grows more and more fascinated by this brooding stranger with whom she shares an intense physical connection—a connection so strong, she wonders if there is something between them beyond lust and passion. Nikolai is shocked to discover that Fiona calms the raging turmoil in his heart. She alone silences the din of other people’s lives, and envelops him in the sweet beauty of her inner self. Every moment he’s with her—every touch of her skin—brings him closer to the peace that’s been eluding him his entire life.

But Fiona harbors secrets that she is too terrified to reveal. After Nikolai confesses his unique ability, she is caught between wanting to believe him and fearing he’ll eventually unearth her own dark past. When the unthinkable happens, Fiona’s plans come crashing down, and Nikolai discovers his hated ability might be the only thing that can save the woman he loves.

Sugar & Gold is a new adult romance with shades of the paranormal and is the second book in the Dreamcatcher novels, a series of interconnected STANDALONES. It is NOT necessary to have read How to Save a Life (Dreamcatcher #1) first in order to follow the story, but characters will appear across all novels. Intended for readers 18 and up.

*****Dee’s Review*****

6++++ Colorful Stars******

Sugar & Gold is one of those stories I like to call 3D. Why? you ask; because I could feel the words with every single one of my senses as I was reading. I was able to smell the storm raging inside the story and even see the colors and feel the love wrapping me in a big, tight hug. Just magical…

Nik is a man who’s always been running. He has been trying to break free from his past and the ability to feel everything around him so vividly. He is a tortured guy who doesn’t understand why he was chosen to suffer through all the ugly of this world. Until one day he meets a beautiful girl with pink colored hair that looks and feels like the calm after the storm.

Fiona is also running. She’s counting down the days until she can escape to paradise. She lives a simple and happy life but even though she fled her past life which was full of pain, she still feels trapped by the memories.

Nik and Fiona met on a night where chaos was all around them, yet they felt like they had finally arrived home, in each other’s presence. What came next was a whirlwind of passion and color so blinding, both of them were helpless to the emotions that were building and bringing them together.

Just like there are beautiful emotions between Nik and Fiona, there are also secrets. Heavy secrets neither of the them are ready to unveil. But what happens when everything they been hiding comes crashing down?

This story was so different from anything else I’ve ever read and I loved it. I can always count on Emma Scott to bring me something unique and unexpected. I love that she doesn’t follow a recipe when it comes to her books, she follows her heart and it shines through her beautiful stories. Her books are the kind that makes people happy.

Sugar & Gold is the second book in this series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. You’ll meet Evan while reading this book and you are going to love him. And if like me, you are immediately drawn to him and want to know more about his story you can buy How To Save A Life today. Bellow is the link.

*****4.5 LOVE AND HOPE STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Love and hope. She had given me so much of both, my heart was full of love for her…and a gratitude greater than thank you.

Emma Scott is one of those authors that I would put in a class all her own. Her stories are never predictable and her characters are quite unique and eclectic. The main characters in SUGAR & GOLD come from different worlds and yet they have so much in common that it seems they were destined to be soulmates. They were two pieces of an intricate puzzle that fit together perfectly. The first half of the story flows smoothly and I almost fell into the trap of thinking that I knew what was going to happen next but then the author shakes things up majorly in the latter half and it was all I could do to keep myself from taking a peek at the last page to find out how everything works out in the end. Get ready to be totally consumed by this story!

Fiona Starling lives a simple life in a small town outside of Savannah, Georgia. She works at a landscape and garden shop and is happy with her tiny apartment and pet canary, Lemony. She has a few friends who have become family to her and who would do anything to protect her from harm. But Fiona has a secret past that she keeps bottled up inside. Fiona is a fighter and she hasn’t had an easy life. Demons from her past haunt her on almost a daily basis but somehow she finds a way to persevere. Her love life has been non-existent for several years and one night she decides to take matters into her own hands and goes to a local club in search of a man to take care of some of her needs. It only takes a few minutes for her to cross paths with one sexy as hell stranger, who has no problems going back to her place with her.

Nikolai Young is a loner who travels from city to city, looking for illegal poker games so that he can make some serious cash. He has a “gift” that enables him to read people’s “tells” during card games. Nik doesn’t have a place he calls home, nor does he have the love and support of any family or friends. At times he struggles to fight his desire to end it all. He too is haunted by memories from his past and by the abandonment from those who should have loved him the most. When he sees Fiona at the club it’s like she is a shining beacon that he is inexplicably drawn to. The two share one of the most passionate nights of their lives but when the sun comes up and their one night of lust has come to an end, neither is too eager to say goodbye. When Nik and Fiona are together they both experience happiness and a sense of peace that they’ve never felt before and soon enough a passing fling turns into a life-altering relationship.

With each passing day, their feelings for each other grow deeper and it’s not what either of them wanted or expected to happen. Both Fiona and Nik are holding back major pieces of their lives from each other and once secrets are revealed the story goes through twists and turns that I could never have predicted would happen. That’s what makes this author truly one of the best!! From that moment on I was on the edge of my seat, stressing over what was to become of these two beautiful characters!!
