Now Beth has a choice to make—follow the rules, or risk tearing everything apart…again.

4 Stars****

YA and angsty, just how I like it!!!! I seriously can’t enough of Erin Watt. Once again this dynamic duo bring us a beautiful story that is a total page turner!

Elizabeth is finally a senior in High school, she and her family have had a really devastating few years, and “Beth” AKA Lizzy is ready to finish school so she can go away to college and start living her life away from her overbearing parents.

After one particularly bad fight with her parents, Beth decides she wants to rebel by going to a party in a bad part of town. At this party, she meets a gorgeous boy that makes her feel at ease, secure in her own skin for the first time in her life. Chase and Beth spend an exhilarating night together, knowing they’ll never see each other again, this mystery makes their night so much better.

The next day in school, Beth can’t believe her mysterious friend Chase is a new student in her school. But what’s worse is that this boy has more than one reason to tell her how sorry he is…

Chase has become the most hated boy not only in school but in the small town of Darling. Beth is the only one who’s forgiven him, even though she’s the one who should hate him the most.

I was biting my nails throughout the entire read. Some of the characters, especially Beth’s parents were very frustrating and totally unpredictable. I really enjoyed this story.

”No cage is forever, Beth. I tried to find one small thing that I could be grateful for each day, like the extra ten minutes of free time outside or a work release picking up trash or ice cream for dessert. That’s how I kept my sanity—I focused on one good thing instead of all the fucked-up stuff.”

YA is not my go-to genre but when it’s a book written by the dynamic writing duo, Erin Watt, there is no way that I’m not going to make time for it. This story is filled with sadness, regret, and a ton of teenage angst and I couldn’t get enough of it. This is a tale of forbidden romance between two young kids who to the outside world should never have met. My heart hurt for poor Lizzie who was forced to live in the shadow of her dead older sister. I admired Chase for owning his mistakes and being the voice of reason that would help lead Lizzie away from her destructive path.

I understood her frustrations with her parents but her rebellious behavior made her seem even more juvenile and beyond ignorant. I was equally annoyed with her parents for being completely blind and for putting their trust in the wrong people. Their punishments seemed over the top at times but I loved the message of the story. Forgiveness heals the soul, and sometimes people can change for the better.

REVIEW – THE UPSIDE OF FALLING (Blue Line Duet,#1) by Meghan Quinn

SYNOPSIS

Tucked away at the base of the Rocky Mountains lived a little boy with one singular dream: leave this broken and battered home and become someone.

Be somebody’s hero.

That boy was me—Colby Brooks. Except I’m not that same little boy anymore.
My dreams might still be the same, but my reality isn’t.

I’m smarter. Stronger. A man.

And I learned a long damn time ago, the only way to achieve my dreams was to avoid distractions—at any cost.

Focus. Resolve. Determination.

But all it took was one single night. One night and my entire life…changed.

One night had me colliding head first with the biggest distraction of my life; Rory Oaks.

Smart. Charming. Beautiful.

Rory changed everything.

Quickly, my one-track mind started to bend.

Each kiss faded decade-long dreams.

And with one single incident, I fly off course.

With a soul so devoted to doing the right thing, he’s irresistible to me. My heart beats wildly for him, seeking the rhythm of his love.

Meghan Quinn is one of my top favorite romantic comedy writers. I crave everything she writes. When I saw the title of each installment of the ”Blue Line Duet” and the book covers, I knew that this was going to be my first endeavor on the serious side of this author. I have to say while I was extremely excited because I LOVE Meghan Quinn’s books, I was also a little bit nervous. I wondered if she could deliver if the story was missing her signature humor. By the time I got to the end of ”THE UPSIDE OF FALLING” I was left heartbroken and speechless. The only silver lining is that the next book is due out in a couple of weeks, so that’s not much of a wait!!

Colby Brooks and Rory Oaks are two lovers who were destined for heartbreak from the start. If they had known how cruel love would turn out to be, they probably should have cursed the night they met at a mutual friend’s house party. Colby is in the Air Force Academy and he’s just a few months away from having his dream come true, which is to make it into fighter pilot school. Rory is a beautiful distraction that he can’t afford at this point in his life.

Try as he may, he’s no match for Rory’s tenacity because from the moment she lays eyes on Colby she is determined to become a part of his life. When an inevitable romance takes flight between them, they’ll realize the mistake they made in throwing caution to the wind. His life is going to be leading him far from Colorado and her life is very much planted where she is in their hometown.

However strongly they may love each other and want a forever, it’s just nearly impossible. One would have to give up their dreams or the other would have to abandon their loved ones.

Is their short time together destined to end and be nothing but a fond memory? Well, let me just say, I was thinking this was a pretty decent and angsty love story till we get to that crazy heartbreaking cliffy! My jaw nearly hit the floor! I’m glad I’ve got only a few days to wait till I can see how it all plays out for these two star-crossed lovers.

REVIEW – WHISKEY GIRL by Adriane Leigh

SYNOPSIS

She was the one thing holding him together. Until she was gone.

And then there was whiskey.

Fallon Gentry has spent the last decade reliving one dark night in his head. The moment he lost the woman he loved when a single blink cascaded into a series of events that stole both of their lives. Now his nights are spent playing music in southern honky-tonks and nursing the memory of her the only way he knows how–at the bottom of a whiskey bottle.

A brief stint in Nashville, a hit song, and a brush with Hollywood couldn’t bring him closer to God, but when the ghost of Augusta Belle Branson appears in his corner of another lonely dive bar late after dark, he’s forced to confront everything he thought he knew about that fateful night, and a few things he didn’t.

He’s her contradiction, she’s his salvation.

A firestorm of emotion consumes them when they come together after ten lost years, every moment more revealing, more unpredictable, more intoxicating than the next until the only reckoning left for Fallon is the one he must make with himself. But this time, fate may have left an after-burn too bitter to swallow. This time, he may lose his whiskey girl for good.

{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

I’d never known pain to exist outside of my body, but with Augusta Belle walking around in the world, it felt like an exposed nerve, my heart always on guard and vulnerable, ready to defend my love for her at any possible second.

Before the story starts off, Adriane Leigh prefaces it by stating that this is not like her erotica books that are jam-packed with steamy scenes. This is an angsty and heartbreaking story of two people whose love faced insurmountable odds their first time around. WHISKEY GIRL is a second chance/forbidden romance between two people who may not have started off under the best of circumstances but ultimately they were two pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly together.

Fallon Gentry met Augusta Belle on top of a bridge where it appeared she was planning to jump off from to commit suicide. He ended up saving her that day and the two ultimately fell hopelessly in love. He was twenty and unbeknownst to him, Augusta was only fifteen. The two spent almost every day together for the next two years. He was a musician, hoping to make it big in Nashville and Augusta was his muse. On a day when tragedy hits Fallon’s family, Augusta disappears without a trace. This rocked Fallon to his core. Ironically it was then that he got his big break and became one of Country Music’s biggest stars.

Ten years have passed and Fallon has been unable to forget about his Augusta Belle. Every night he hopes to see her face in the crowd during his cross-country music tour. The only solace he’s found is at the bottom of a bottle of whiskey. Then one night, at a dive bar, he bumps into the woman whose memory has haunted him for the past decade.

Their reunion is far from a happy one. Fallon is bitter and lashes out at Augusta. He has no idea where she’s been or what the reason was for her sudden disappearance from his life. While the two travel from town to town together Augusta will reveal little pieces of information from her past.

Once the shocking truth comes out, will they be able to rekindle their romance or will it all be too much for Fallon to deal with?

REVIEW – TATTERED (Lark Cove #1) by Devney Perry

SYNOPSIS

Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.

So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.

Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.

But for their daughter.

*****Dee’s Review*****

4.5 Second Chance Stars *****

Nothing better than a second chance love story. Devney Perry’s enthralling writing style made me feel the beauty of this story chapter after chapter, so much so, I never wanted it to end.

Thea is a bartender at a prestigious hotel in New York City. Her life has been a constant struggle since her drug addict mother left her as a baby. She’s had to suffer the pains of being an orphan, and the constant feeling of being less than, every day of her life.

One night a handsome stranger that she’s served at the bar before, strikes a conversation with her and before she even realizes they are flirting, taking their sexy conversations and turning it into a night neither of them will ever forget.

Logan is a millionaire and workaholic, the pressure of one day becoming the heir of his family’s empire has only served to increase the drive, and thirst he’s always had for success. He hasn’t been very lucky with relationships. His last, played him for a fool, cheating on him when he was ready to propose to her.

Logan is in Montana closing a business deal when he runs into the one girl he was never been able to stop thinking about. What he didn’t know is that Thea is going to turn his entire world upside down. Can Logan and Thea reconnect and perhaps recreate the perfect night they had years ago? Or will everything crash and burn from the moment they see each other again? Read this story and find out…

This book is sexy, romantic and well written. I love the mild angst and the realness of the characters. I’m excited for this book to be turned into a series and I’ll be sure to read every single book.

This thing with us was fleeting. I wasn’t going to move to the city. He couldn’t give up the career he’d worked hard to build. I didn’t blame him for that, but I was being realistic. Eventually, we’d drift apart to where our only connection would be Charlie.

TATTERED is an equally steamy and angsty second chance romance. From the first page, you will be drawn into this tale of complicated love with all its twists and turns. Devney Perry has quickly become a ”must read” author for many readers. I can predict that the ”Lark Cove” series will be another fan favorite.

Thea and Logan meet one night in a hotel bar in NYC. Thea works there part-time as a bartender and Logan is the devastatingly handsome man in a dark tailored suit that gets Thea’s heart racing. Logan and Thea have major chemistry and share one passionate night together. Although they go their separate ways the next morning they will find it quite impossible to forget the night they shared. Turns out it’s much harder on Thea, seeing as she winds up pregnant with Logan’s child. Unfortunately, the two don’t reconnect as quickly as we’d like since neither last names nor phone numbers were exchanged and after several months of hoping to run into Logan at the bar she works at, Thea decides to move to Montana to be with people she considers family who she knows will support her during her time of need.

Nearly six years later, Logan and Thea cross paths again when he happens to be in her hometown in Montana trying to finalize a business deal. The chemistry is still strong between them and fortunately, they’re both unattached. Thea has put all her efforts into raising their daughter, Charlie, and running her “adopted” Mother’s bar/restaurant. No man has ever piqued her interest the way Logan had.

Logan is a very successful lawyer and he also helps run part of his family’s corporation. He’s a workaholic and has also not had much luck in the relationship department. From the moment he sees Thea again, he can’t help but feel drawn to her. But he’s in for the shock of his life when he comes face to face with a five-year-old precocious little girl who also turns out to be his daughter—a daughter he had no clue about.

The two struggle with their new situation and also with the attraction that still burns hot between them. Thea desperately wants Logan to choose her and Charlie over his life back in NYC, but she is convinced that she is not enough to keep him satisfied and eventually he will leave her behind. She had a very hard childhood and she has severe abandonment issues. Logan is career driven and has never had to compromise in his life. He’s used to getting what he wants. He’s about to find out that he’s no match against Thea and Charlie’s stubbornness.

This book was hard to put down. I have to admit that while I truly enjoyed the story, both the Hero and Heroine annoyed me almost the entire time. I felt Logan was overly selfish and not the least bit sensitive to his daughter or Thea’s needs, and while Thea was somewhat firm with Logan, I do think she needed more of a backbone.

This is the perfect summer read!!

REVIEW – MISTER TONIGHT by Kendall Ryan

SYNOPSIS

From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a standalone romance about a swoony single dad and the new neighbor he falls for.

Last night was the most embarrassing night of my life.

I was THAT girl.

You know, the highly intoxicated chick celebrating her thirtieth with her two best friends—the ones who are happily married. And the more I drank, the more I wanted to do something reckless to celebrate.

By reckless, I meant the sexy and alluring man dressed in a business suit standing near the bar. You know his type—tall, dark, and handsome. I was sure he was out of my league, but I’d had just enough alcohol that things like that no longer seemed to matter. I’m not fat, mind you, but you can tell I like French fries, so there’s that.

He took me home and I enjoyed the hottest birthday sex of my life, well until it came to a screeching, and rather unwelcome halt.

There’s nothing quite like being interrupted mid-ride with a little voice asking:

“What are you doing to my daddy?”

Just kill me now…… or so I thought.

Come to find out the man I rode like a bull at the rodeo is my new landlord.

I swallowed, suddenly light-headed from how much I wanted him. The liquid courage I’d consumed earlier was in full effect. If he could make me feel like this fully clothed in a cab, I couldn’t help but wonder what he could do in the bedroom.

I’ve never really thought of myself as being a lover of romances with single fathers but this book has definitely made me a fan. Kendall Ryan has delivered another fun and incredibly steamy read! I was hooked from the first page and this is why I will always be a fan of this author!

Kate is out celebrating her thirtieth birthday with her besties when an insanely handsome and well-dressed man catches her eye. She’s been going through a particularly long dry spell with regards to sex and he’s looking like the perfect candidate as her ”MISTER TONIGHT” . Kate doesn’t do relationships and that’s mostly due to the failed marriages of her parents and also her older sister’s. It takes only a matter of seconds after making eye contact with the handsome stranger before they are sharing drinks and flirtatious banter.

Hunter and Kate end up going back to his place. Just before they enter his house, he reveals that he is a single dad to a four-year-old daughter. This does very little to cool off Kate’s libido. The two have one of the most electrifying nights of their lives until they are caught in the act by Hunter’s bewildered little girl. Kate runs off in shame within seconds and the next day is nursing a terrible hangover as well as feeling mortified at how her night with Hunter ended. She was only able to feel a little better knowing that she would probably never see him again.

Looks like fate has other plans. When she shows up to look at the apartment she put a down payment on, she is floored when she comes face to face with Hunter again, who it turns out will be her new landlord. If Kate were to be completely honest with herself, she’d have to admit the thrill she gets from seeing him again.

The two try to keep things platonic seeing as they now have a landlord/tenant relationship and getting involved could complicate their situation. But they’ll soon realize that it’s nearly impossible to keep their hands off each other. Kate proposes that they have a casual sex arrangement with no strings attached, which Hunter agrees to only because he’ll take whatever she is willing to give, but if it were up to him they’d be so much more.

Will Kate get over her fear of commitment before it’s too late?

REVIEW – SUNSHINE AND THE STALKER by K. Webster & Dani René

SYNOPSIS

Dating is difficult for someone like me.
I’m obsessive, arrogant, and rude.
This means I must be creative when bedding a woman.
I learn what I can about her through whatever means necessary.
Some call it stalking. I call it clever research.
It gets me what I want and when I want it.
When I get bored, I move on.
My system works like a charm…
Until a little ray of SUNSHINE shows up.

***

Dating is nonexistent for me.
I’m quirky, silly, and inexperienced.
This means my romantic life is certainly lacking.
I don’t date because no one’s interested.
Some say I’m an independent woman who doesn’t need a man.
But I know I’m on the fast track to becoming a lonely cat lady.
How many cats are too many cats anyway?
My boring world stays that way…
Until my future stepmother’s STALKER shows up.

SUNSHINE AND THE STALKER is another one of K. Webster’s SCORCHING HOT erotica novellas about a May/December romance. I don’t read many naughty spank bank stories but I love this author and her works normally tend to be very entertaining. I think out of all the books I’ve read there were only two I completely disliked. One thing I will say about this author is that she is BRAVE in that she continuously pushes boundaries.

Don’t go into this one expecting a unique plot or gripping storyline. It’s as I’ve said before to be read for pure guilty pleasure purposes only. This is one hell of a steamy read!! The Hero, James Darden is a hotel mogul with a creepy hobby. He’s never been into relationships. All he’s looking for are some good times until he gets bored and moves on to the next object of his obsession. He stalks women and gets to know their habits and personality traits before he makes his move on them. It’s during one of his creepy stalking missions that he gets busted by a vivacious teenaged girl named Cerys. Something about Cerys’ unique look and bold personality calls to James on a deeper level.

It takes only that brief meeting with Cerys for James to turn all of his stalkerish attention on the spunky and naïve teenager. In no time at all, he takes her virginity and unleashes all of his naughty sexual prowess on her.

If you’re looking for a quick read to help with your reading challenge and you like a dirty romance with a ridiculous plot and HEA, then this one is not to be missed. It’s a particularly good book to pick up if you just finished one that was emotionally draining.

REVIEW – ONE WEEK by Roya Carmen

SYNOPSIS

ONE WEEK

A new forbidden arrangement standalone novel from Roya Carmen, author of The Ground Rules Trilogy.

A troubled marriage. A one week hall pass.

Gabriella Moore has it all; a beautiful husband, two adorable children, and a dream home. Yet, when, by chance, she befriends Eli online, she falls fast. And hard.

She knows she must let him go, and saying goodbye is one of the hardest things she’s ever done, but she resolves to move on and forget about her beautiful stranger.

But then… she makes an unexpected discovery, and it shakes her perfect world to its core. Rules don’t apply anymore. An arrangement is made, and her husband gives her just one week with Eli.

The rules are clear: One week. Sex only. No contact thereafter. Seems simple enough, but it’s never simple when it comes to love.

Author’s note: contains sexual scenes and some coarse language.

*****Dee’s Review*****

FIVE AMAZING STARS *****

Wow! It’s going to be hard reviewing this book because all I have are positive adjectives to describe this story. One Week is a sexy, exhilarating, all-consuming, raw, romance story. It felt so real, so close to my heart, my skin, my entire being. This book is possibly the best book I’ve read all year. So good!

Gabriella, it seems has the perfect life. A handsome, successful husband, two beautiful children, a gorgeous home, and great friends. It’s easy for her to get lost in her everyday life. Her husband travels a lot for work, and she stays inside her million dollar home, caring for her children. Gabriella is an artist, a painter. She’s also passionate about life, and as much as she loves her life and her family, something or someone will come and bring new life, new color into her world.

All it takes is one little incident to put in motion a series of events that will turn her world inside out.

One week away, the opportunity to be someone else, free and careless. Then after the week is over all goes back to normal, or does it?

I’m trying really hard to be vague about what this book is about because I think everyone who reads it, needs to go in blind and with an open mind. This book is about something that is all too real, that happens every day, to many people. Roya Carmen wrote this story in an exquisite way. Delicious Temptation, taboo, and amazing characters that will leave an everlasting impression in your heart. I can’t wait to read more books in this series. Simply fantastic!

*****FIVE STARS+++++++*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

I’m not sure at what point in my life I became an absolute doormat, but I know I let it happen. But more than all of these new realizations about myself is the one thing that changed it all.

Atticus.

Having responsibility for him gave me purpose. Seeing the way he loves me for who I am and nothing more makes me realize there are many types of love in this world, and I wasn’t searching for the right type.
The unconditional type.

I’m so in love with Sawyer Bennett right now. This book caught me off guard. I had no idea that Sawyer could write such a heartwarming and equally heartbreaking story that would affect me so deeply. My friends know I am a HUGEdog lover. My Phoebe is my WORLD!! She is a total diva and could tie with Atticus for the most misbehaved dog ever but just like the Heroine, Hazel, I wouldn’t have her any other way! This story spoke to me on so many levels and I felt that Hazel was my kindred spirit. While there is a romance in this book, it takes a backseat to the heart of this story which is family, friends, and the unconditional love that only a special fur baby can give us!

Hazel Roundtree is at the absolute lowest point of her life. Her husband left her for another woman and kicked her out of their home a few months back. She’s got a part-time job at a bar making less than minimum wage and is currently taking residence on her friend’s couch since she doesn’t have enough money to afford a place of her own. Estranged from her mother and sister, she literally has no one to lean on. Then one day she stumbles upon a cute ball of fur that’s caught up in some barbed wire in a muddy ditch. Hazel has never had a dog in her life but something about that little guy tugs on her heart and she rescues him. She takes him to a local veterinary clinic and with only $8 in her pocket she hopes that the good doctor will take care of the pup out of the goodness of his heart. Oley Peele is a cranky old man and at first, he comes off extremely crotchety but they work out a deal between them. He mends the poor pup’s injuries and Hazel works off what she owes at his clinic.

This will be the beginning of two of the greatest and most impactful relationships in Hazel’s life. From then on out, Hazel starts to undergo a transformation. No longer allowing herself to be a doormat and looking for love with all the wrong men. Atticus along with Oley become the main focus of her life. Atticus is a rambunctious and misbehaving ball of fur but he brings a sense of peace and happiness to Hazel’s life that she has never had before.

Hazel’s adoptive family grows when she invites her friend Bernard, a homeless Vietnam war veteran, over for their weekly dinners and baseball game watching. As the story progresses, she ends up with a good job, a nice apartment of her own, and a couple of old men who become secondary father figures to her. She is finally putting herself first and things are falling into place nicely for her.

There is basically no steam in this story and honestly, I think it would have been out of place if it was. Love will come to Hazel and it will be at the right time and with the PERFECT guy! I’m so happy that she got her HEA. By the time I got to the end of this book, I felt like she was a good friend.

Get ready to cry so hard, you’ll find it hard to breathe. Keep that box of Kleenex handy. I can’t remember when a story hit me this hard!!

REVIEW – A WISH FOR US by Tillie Cole

SYNOPSIS

From the author who brought you A Thousand Boy Kisses comes the new emotional novel, A Wish For Us.
A story of music. A story of healing. A story of love conquering all.

Nineteen-year-old Cromwell Dean is the rising star of electronic dance music. Thousands of people adore him. But no one knows him. No one sees the color of his heart.

Until the girl in the purple dress. She sees through the walls he has built to the empty darkness within.

When Cromwell leaves behind the gray skies of England to study music in the South Carolina heat, the last thing he expects is to see her again. And he certainly doesn’t expect that she’ll stay in his head like a song on repeat.

Bonnie Farraday lives for music. She lets every note into her heart, and she doesn’t understand how someone as talented as Cromwell can avoid doing the same. He’s hiding from his past, and she knows it. She tries to stay away from him, but something keeps calling her back.

Bonnie is the burst of color in Cromwell’s darkness. He’s the beat that makes her heart skip.

But when a shadow falls over Bonnie, it’s up to Cromwell to be her light, in the only way he knows how. He must help her find the lost song in her fragile heart. He must keep her strong with a symphony only he can compose.

A symphony of hope.
A symphony of love.
A symphony of them.

Five Vibrant Stars*****

Music, romance and tears, so many tears. A Wish For Us is like an epic song, performed live by an entire orchestra inside your heart. You will hear it, feel it, and almost taste it. A beautiful story that will consume all of your senses from beginning to end.

Cromwell Dean is currently the hottest DJ in the club scene. His shows are always sold out because he delivers an electrifying techno experience, full of amazing music and color. But the more people praise him, and the more fame he acquires the less he cares, the less he feels. He numbs himself with alcohol and sex, he doesn’t want to feel anything at all. One night in the middle of a club a peculiar girl catches Cromwell’s eye, because she’s in the middle of this huge party, that is full of energy, and yet she’s not moving to the rhythm of the beats, she’s just listening with her eyes closed. Later that night, they run into each other again and she accuses him of something he already knew, that his music had no soul. Whether Cromwell wants to admit it to himself or not, what that girl told him pushes him into a new direction, where he will follow the music and the colors he once used to love.

Bonnie Farraday was the girl who shocked Cromwell Dean to his very core, that one night before he came back to the States to enroll in college. The only girl who’s not falling at his feet. Bonnie only wants to make music, her dream is to write beautiful lyrics for artists all over the world. That’s why she’s so excited to be attending professor Lewis’s music class, but she’s less than thrilled to be sharing this experience with Cromwell.

Bonnie and Cromwell are not your typical college students, they both have a emotional baggage and both have immense talent. They mask their attraction to each other, with constant fighting and bickering but sooner rather than later, those fights will turn into a beautiful love story, full of music, and blinding color.

Tillie Cole writes words that go directly into the heart. Her stories demand your complete attention, and your smiles, and also your tears. Her books are always unpredictable and completely heart rendering. A Wish For Us is truly a masterpiece.

*****FIVE++++++++++++ STARS*****

Tillie Cole will always be one of my most favorite authors. I am in awe of her talent! A WISH FOR US is an emotional love story filled with so much beauty. I spent the latter half of the book with tears streaming down my face. Tillie’s writing is simply exquisite in this one. It was hard to pick a quote to post in my review because there were too many I loved and I was afraid that sharing any of them would possibly spoil the story for those of you who haven’t read the book yet.

The main characters are both broken but incredibly beautiful. Their mutual love for music will eventually tether them to each other and will ultimately be their salvation. Cromwell Dean is one of the biggest DJs in the U.K. and somehow he ends up attending a small university in South Carolina where he majors in classical music composition. It is in that class that he runs into a girl he’s met before who with one critical observation of his EDM music was the reason why he put his career as a DJ on hold and enrolled in college.

Bonnie Farraday has always loved music. It’s in her blood. She is in awe of Cromwell’s God-given musical talents, but the two get off to a very rocky start. Cromwell has an incredibly huge chip on his shoulder and is angry at the world. He’s always irritable and abrasive, and while Bonnie has a tendency to spark his anger, she has a calming effect on him as well. Soon enough the two embark on an all-consuming love affair.

Their love story is one of the most beautiful that Tillie has written since ”A Thousand Boy Kisses”. It evoked so many painfully raw emotions. The tears just kept flowing. It was borderline torturous, but there was no way I could put the book down. I had to get to the very end to see how it all played out.
