From the moment I learned that Mia Asher was writing a new book, I had been anxious to get my hands on it. Firstly, I want to just give high praise for one of the sexiest and BEST covers I have seen in quite some time! It only proved to deepen my desire for this book! What I’ve come to know about this author is that she writes messy, complicated and angsty romances like no other!! But in this particular story, her words are nothing less than exquisite – they simply took my breath away. I was completely consumed with this book! I fell hard for the beautiful Sebastien Leroux!

Valentina Fitzpatrick has been a loving and devoted wife to her husband of nearly twelve years. Their relationship has had its ups and downs but it nearly ended over a year ago when she caught her husband in the act of adultery with one of his interns. The pain from his deceit still lingers in her heart even though she chose to fight for her marriage. Valentina’s weakness is the love that she still has for her husband, William. As an attempt to start over, William asks Valentina to come with him on a business trip to Paris. Once his business meetings are over, he promised her that they would take some time to be alone together and hopefully rekindle the romance that used to consume them. Ultimately Valentina ends up in Paris alone when William is unable to make the trip. This only succeeds in making her feel even more despondent when it comes to her marriage. Valentina is finding it hard not to suspect that maybe her husband is having another affair. So she decides to stay in Paris and take this time away from William to re-evaluate their relationship.

During her first week in Paris, she ends up crashing a private party at an art exhibit and is mesmerized by one of the paintings. Just as she’s about to be thrown out for trespassing, a handsome stranger comes to her rescue by pretending to be her boyfriend. He ends up kissing her and it nearly knocks the wind right out of her. Valentina is captivated by this gorgeous man with the most incredible blue eyes. Fate keeps throwing these two in each other’s paths. They end up running into each other several times and as luck would have it, Sebastien turns out to be not only her upstairs neighbor but also the artist of the painting that she fell in love with.

Sebastien is quite well known for his spectacular skills in the bedroom. He uses sex as a balm to ease his pain. Years ago he lost his one true love and has yet to fully recover from that heartbreak, but something about Valentina breathes new life into his cold heart. Being around her seems to soothe him better than any of his old vices.

Sebastien and Valentina end up teetering on a fine line between restraint and giving in to their all-consuming desire for one another. But it’s Valentina’s need to clean up her mess of a life first, before delving into anything new with Sebastien that ends up preventing them from crossing that line.

When Valentina is ultimately forced to choose between her past life and the uncertain yet possibly exhilarating future with Sebastien – will she make the right decision? Or will she end up picking the wrong man which would destroy not only her life but that of the one who truly loves her?

She fell deeply in love and eventually he disappointed her & she lost her joy along the way. She spent years focusing on pleasing her husband, & forgot about herself. She put her wants and needs aside, & strived to be flawless. She was always on display & trying to be the perfect wife. She was terrified of the unknown, & just learned to accept not all love stories have a happy ending.

Sebastien Leroux is a wealthy world-renowned artist living in Paris. Ten years ago he suffered a loss that shattered him. He hasn’t made a lasting connection with a woman in years. He only enjoys physical relationships that help him escape his pain. He goes through the motions of life, but isn’t truly living.

Valentina feels new hope for her marriage when her husband tells her they are going to have a getaway in Paris for a business trip. She thinks this trip could be just what they need to rebuild their relationship. She heads to Paris ahead of her husband, & then his trip is cancelled. Every time I read a Mia Asher book I’m fully absorbed in the story & hooked from the start. This book was no different & is my favorite by this author. It was magical & everything I love about a beautiful romance. Sebastien will steal your heart.
