ALL I AM: DREW’S STORY (A THIS MAN NOVELLA) by Jodi Ellen Malpas (June 18, 2017; Forever Yours ebook; $2.99)

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jodi Ellen Malpas comes a new novella in the This Man series. You don’t need to read the series to enjoy this story, but if you’re already a Jesse Ward fan, just wait till you see the advice he gives Drew about falling in love.

I thought I had control.  I was so, so wrong…

I don’t need a relationship.  I have Hux, a decadent club where I quench whatever raw desire I choose.  I take pleasure and I give it – no strings attached.  So when Raya Rivers comes in asking for someone cold, emotionless, and filthy… well, no man ever takes his wicked pleasure quite the way I do.

Only Raya is different. Vulnerable. And carrying some deep sorrow that gets past all my carefully constructed walls and inexplicably makes me care.  Now craving controls me.  Ice has given way to red-hot need.

But Raya has no idea about my other life – my real life.  That I’m daddy to an adorable little girl.  My two worlds are about to collide with the force of a supernova.  Once Raya knows the truth, will she be able to accept all I am?

ALL I AM: DREW’S STORY (A THIS MAN NOVELLA)

Blog Excerpt

‘What do you want, Raya?’

She steps toward me tentatively, as if she’s questioning what she’s doing. And when she reaches me, her chest pressed to mine, she gazes up at me. ‘I don’t know.’ Her eyes are wild and unsure. ‘But I know that every time we’re close, something powerful takes over. And you’re trying hard to fight it. You’re warm and cold. What are you scared of?’

‘You.’ My mouth is on her before I can think better of it, and I’ve lifted her from her feet before my tongue breaches the seam on her lips. We should talk, but this is the only thing I know what to say right now, and when her arms circle my shoulders, her mouth opening up, inviting me in, I know she’s okay with it. I know she gets it.

With one arm around her waist holding her to me and one secured on the nape of her neck, I walk to my office, my kiss deep, my blood racing, my heart bouncing off my ribcage. I set her on her feet and take the hem of her dress, pulling it up over her head, losing her lips for just a second in the process. She wrenches my shirt open, scattering buttons in the process, her hands immediately finding my skin beneath. My forward steps encourages her backwards, our kiss deepening as she unfastens my trousers and I push her knickers down her thighs.

We’re all over the place, desperation getting the better of us, a mess of tongues, hands and bodies. I pull some strength from nowhere, seize her hands and break our kiss, breathing heavily. Her unsure brown eyes soon prompts me to start ridding myself of the rest of my clothes, all under her watchful gaze. Until I’m naked.

‘This wasn’t supposed to happen,’ she whispers.

SYNOPSIS

A new novella featuring Drew from the #1 New York Times bestselling This Man trilogy!

Jodi:
I’ve been revisiting a few old friends. You remember Drew? The dark, mysterious pal of Jesse’s? The cool guy, who kept himself to himself? Yes, him! It’s time for Drew to shine in a brand-spanking-new THIS MAN Novella coming June 18th! I can’t tell you how much fun I’ve had going back to my roots, and I just know you’re gonna LOVE Mr Davies. I hope a little something while you’re waiting for THE FORBIDDEN (Aug 8th) will put a smile on your face as wide as mine

4.5 Stars!

-You made me feel like the world began and ended with me.

Drew Davies is a 39 yr. old gorgeous single man living in London. He’s built one of the most competitive estate agencies in the city & had a passion for his work. He doesn’t have much free time outside of the office & spending time with his daughter. He doesn’t date, & since his best friend Jesse sold the Manor, he’s been forced to find a new place to play & let off some steam. He now frequents the Hux sex club to fulfill his needs. This lifestyle suits him. He’s all about decadent fantasy with no strings pleasure. He likes easy with no commitments, expectations, or drama. Just raw, carnal sexual experiences. Hux is relaxing & it’s what he likes. He was burned in the past, & as a result, isn’t trusting of women. The only female he’s ever committed to is his 7 yr. old daughter. Georgia is his world, & he reserves all his emotions for her.

One evening Drew is introduced to a woman named Raya who has certain requests at the club. She specifically asks for someone cold, emotionless & filthy, & you can’t get any more emotionless & detached than Drew. She’s told about Drew but is shocked by how good looking he is when she meets him. She’s extremely attracted to him but wants a night to forget with no risk of feelings. He’s come highly recommended, & she’s ready to see all her deepest desires come to life.

When Drew lays eyes on the stunning Raya he’s intrigued by the newbie. He quickly realizes he’s going to thoroughly enjoy fulfilling her requests. Once he touches her, he soon figures out there is something different about her. It’s electric between them. He’s so lost in the moment with her & he finds himself wanting to know her story. She’s beautiful, but there’s a sadness about her. She’s a mystery he wants to solve.

-“I can blow your mind.”

-“You ready to get completely lost?”

-Raya radiates a soft, almost innocent sexiness that I’ve never encountered before. It’s a powerful quality she holds, and it’s even sexier because she doesn’t realize she has it.

-She is just effortlessly sexy, and that’s just one of the things I find so attractive about her. As well as her brutal beauty and the fact that she’s found feelings in me that I never knew existed.

Suddenly Drew’s having feelings of possession that are unsettling. Raya’s become a complication he doesn’t need, but he can’t control how badly he wants her. He was content with his life until this incredible woman. They both feel a strong connection they can’t deny.

Raya was t supposed to get attached to Drew. It was sex and nothing more. Now she is falling for Drew & wondering if they could be more.

This was a sexy fun novella that takes us back to the This Man series. It’s about Jesse’s friend Drew, but we also get some scenes with all the gang. It was a super sexy fabulous read!

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

The burning ache within me amplifies, and my head swims with the memory of every second I had her restrained and at my mercy. But somehow, now I realize that it was entirely me at her mercy. Just like now. This woman is stirring something in me.

THIS MAN is one of my all-time favorite series and Jesse Ward will always top the charts as one of my most beloved book boyfriends. I was more than thrilled when I got to spend a little more time with The Lord of the Manor in ALL I AM: DREW’s STORY. I don’t think Drew ever really had a chance to shine before but now in his own book he comes across as extremely sexy and dominant. He’s the last of his friends to remain single and Drew has no plans of ever changing his status. Sometimes plans don’t always work out the way people want them to.

Drew still frequents a sex club at least once a week to get his physical needs satiated. A woman asks to be set up with him because she heard he was the best and that he’s cold and emotionless, which is exactly what she needs. The moment Drew and Raya meet, they both feel something intense stirring between them. Their first time together is better than anything they’ve ever experienced, but they go their separate ways because it was only meant to be a one-time thing. By happy coincidence, Raya ends up being one of Drew’s potential clients. He owns a real estate firm and Raya is looking to sell her home and she’ll be leaving the country once it is sold. There’s something about the look in Raya’s eyes that has Drew wanting to learn more. He’s unexplainably drawn to her and can’t seem to get her out of his mind. This tickles his friends because they know a thing or two about falling hopelessly in love and are both thrilled to see that cupid’s arrow has finally got a hold of Drew.

Will Drew get his head on straight and fight for his chance at love? Or will it all slip through his fingertips when secrets are revealed?

REVIEW – NOTICE by K. Webster

SYNOPSIS

I didn’t notice her before…but now I do.
The shiny strands of gold in her silky brown hair.
Tiny crinkles between her eyebrows when she frowns.
Her passion for neatness.

Once I focus on her, I can’t take my eyes from my newest obsession. Ever.
I need to know everything about her.
Her past. Her present.
The way she takes her coffee.
Exactly how she smells after a spritz of perfume in the mornings.

She’s perfect in every way and I was blind.
But, God, now do I see.

I notice the organized way she arranges her clothes in her closet.
How she visits the same market each Saturday.
The sounds of her breathing as I lie beneath her bed in silence.

Violet is mine.
She just doesn’t know it yet.

***WARNING***

*****FOUR STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Sometimes love isn’t black or white. Sometimes love isn’t even in color. For me, love is red. Bloody, dripping, bright, crimson. Violent.

I’m not even sure how to categorize this one. It was dark but at times I found it to be bizarre and a bit silly, but overall I absolutely had a great time reading it. This was one seriously naughty and decadent, guilty pleasure read. The story is over the top ridiculous but I do believe that is what the author was going for and the Hero, although sexy as hell, was borderline psychotic. Even with his extremely creepy tendencies, I couldn’t help loving Grayson Maxwell!

Violet Simmons is a woman with a horrific past that she was able to escape six years ago, but it still haunts her on a daily basis. Her ex-boyfriend was violent, abusive, and made sure to keep her strung out on drugs. He also pimped her out to make money that he mostly spent on narcotics. But that’s her past and now she works for a real estate brokerage and has her own little one-bedroom apartment. She sends a big percentage of what she makes home to help out her mom. Violet has been dissatisfied with her job for a while because there are several men who make inappropriate advances towards her and her boss has never acknowledged her in all the years that she has worked for him. On the day she walks towards her boss’s desk and slams her two weeks’ notice in front of him it’s like a light switch was flipped and he is finally noticing her. Actually, he becomes 100% consumed and obsessed with her.

Grayson Maxwell is a very odd man. He was once a sniper for the Marines and during a mission that went wrong he was badly injured but the ordeal messed up his psyche more than his body. Grayson has a one track mind. He only seems to be able to focus on one thing at any given time so everything goes unnoticed by him and that’s why he never really saw Violet until the morning she tries to quit. Now that she has come into his line of sight, he is completely enthralled with her and he becomes worse than a stalker. Gray breaks into her apartment at night while she’s sleeping and somehow manages to get her naked without her ever waking up! Yea RIGHT!! Then he fondles her and pleasures himself while she sleeps. That’s not even the creepiest part—he crawls under her bed and jacks off while she sleeps on the bed above him! I literally laughed so hard but I’ll admit I found this to be highly erotic as well!! K. Webster is really quite talented in making the most bizarre and disturbing men, sexy as hell!

Gray and Violet start to build a relationship and he works hard to make things better for her in the office. He also makes it his sole responsibility to keep her safe, which means he has his sights set on the evil Ex who is still out there somewhere and poses a threat to Violet’s wellbeing, but she still has no idea that Gray has been sneaking into her bedroom every night while she sleeps. Will Gray’s creepiness or Violet’s Ex tear these two lovers apart?

Hot Cop by Laurelin Paige & Sierra Simone
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis

From NYT Bestselling Author, Laurelin Paige and USA Today Bestselling Author, Sierra Simone comes a steamy contemporary romantic follow-up to last year’s bestseller P*rn Star.

You have the right to remain sexy.

Anything you say can and will be used to get you in my bed.

You have the right to use my body to give yourself a delirious, life-changing orgasm.

If you have trouble…don’t worry, I’m a bit of an expert in that department.

There’s nothing ‘thin’ about my blue line, if you catch my drift, and trust me, I know how to put those handcuffs to good use.

***

Livia Ward wants a baby before she’s thirty. And even though Officer Chase Kelly is exactly the kind of cocky jerk this librarian has sworn off, he is undeniably hot. Both of them think they can give each other what they want–a few nights of fun for Officer Kelly, a no-strings baby for Livia–but this hot cop is about to learn that sex, babies, and love don’t always play by the rules.

Excerpt:

I’m at the steakhouse fifteen minutes early, which is on time in Chase Kelly’s book. I’ve never been late for work or a date a single time in my life; in fact, I’ve always been early, which is a point of pride for me. And Livia walks in at seven on the dot, something that endears me to her immensely, although the moment I register that I, Officer Kelly, am charmed, my mind goes blank.

Just blank.

There is nothing but her.

She walks in on heels that make her legs a mile long, her long hair down in a tumult of soft waves. The maître d’ helps her take off her checkered wool coat, and then I.

Am.

Speechless.

My heart hammers up in my throat as the blood pools deep in my groin. She’s wearing a bright red dress—so fucking short that I’d be able to finger her easily if we were in a booth, which we tragically aren’t. The red sets off the warm undertones of her bronze skin, highlights the deep brown of her eyes. The lines of it hug the delectable curves of her tits, which are just small enough that she can get away without wearing a bra.

My cock thickens as she begins walking toward me, and I can verify that she is definitely not wearing a bra. Oh God, what if she’s not wearing panties either?

I bite back a groan and push back my chair to greet her as she comes to our table, tugging the hem of my sweater down in one smooth move as I unfold myself to help disguise the effect her presence has on me.

As I step forward to greet her, I notice the color high in her cheeks and the way her teeth dig into the soft coral of her bottom lip.

She looks nervous.

That gives me pause. I don’t mind a woman meeting me cold or shy or overly eager, I don’t even mind a case of the first date jitters—since first dates are pretty much all I go on, I see a lot of those.

But nervous—truly nervous—that bothers me a little. Do I make her feel unsafe? Is it my size? My job?

In a split second, I change gears. I can be patient when it comes to the Kelly Trio, and I find that the idea of wooing my nervous little librarian on date after date doesn’t sound tiresome at all…it sounds delightful, actually. A challenge. A test to see if I’m worthy enough to remove all traces of trepidation from her face and fill her expression with eagerness and surrender instead.

And get more time with this fierce, sweet bookworm all to myself.

I lean in to kiss her cheek, careful to angle our bodies so that I don’t press against her with six feet, two hundred pounds of hungry cop. Instead, I anchor her with a firm hand at her elbow, pleased to feel the goose bumps that spread underneath my touch. And then I brush my lips against her cheek, making sure she can feel them, making sure she gets just the tiniest brush of my scruff as I accidentally-on-purpose slide my jaw against hers as I pull away.

She shivers.

I look down into her eyes as I straighten up, and I’m suddenly aware that I’m supporting a lot of weight in my hand, as if her knees are weak from my kiss.

Well done, Officer Good Times!

Her eyes are wide, the pupils so blown and her irises so dark that her eyes are just huge liquid wells of want, and I feel a familiar tug in my groin knowing that I put that look there.

“I forget how big you are,” she murmurs, her head tilted up to look into my face.

I give her my biggest grin and open my mouth, but she cuts me off before I can say it, shaking her head. “I know, I know. I walked right into that one.”

But the ghost of a smile flits across her lips as I help her into her seat and push in her chair.

When I sit across from her and we start looking at our menus, I notice the smile has vanished and the nervous look is back, along with a determined set to her shoulders. The combination of uneasiness and backbone intrigues and worries me at the same time.

“I don’t know what Megan told you,” I say, “but I don’t bite.”

She looks up from the menu, her teeth back to digging into the plump flesh of her bottom lip.

“Well,” I amend, staring at her mouth, “sometimes I do bite. But only when I really, really want to.”

WRAPPED UP IN READING’s REVIEW OF SUGAR & GOLD

Sugar & Gold Blurb:

“I loved you before. I will love you forever.”

Nikolai Alexei Young was born with a special gift…one he’d do anything to lose. The heart and soul of every person he comes into contact with is an open book to his heightened senses. Colorful emotions, whispers of thoughts, the sour tastes of old memories…He feels them all. The sci-fi books would call him an empath. For Nikolai, his ability has made him an exile. He roams the U.S. alone, avoiding the glut of life in big cities, and using his innate talents to win money in underground poker games. Just enough to keep going, one town to the next. He has no hope that his life can be anything else, until he meets her…

At nineteen, Fiona Starling was trapped in an ugly, desperate situation until she freed herself the only way she knew how. Now three years later, living outside Savannah, Georgia, she is rebuilding her life on her own terms; seizing every moment and saving every penny so that she might fulfill her dream of moving to the raw wilderness of Costa Rica. But behind her carefree smile beats the heart of a lonely young woman haunted by her past, until a chance encounter with a tattooed stranger changes everything…

Fiona takes Nikolai under her roof for three sultry nights, waiting out the rain of a summer storm. She grows more and more fascinated by this brooding stranger with whom she shares an intense physical connection—a connection so strong, she wonders if there is something between them beyond lust and passion. Nikolai is shocked to discover that Fiona calms the raging turmoil in his heart. She alone silences the din of other people’s lives, and envelops him in the sweet beauty of her inner self. Every moment he’s with her—every touch of her skin—brings him closer to the peace that’s been eluding him his entire life.

But Fiona harbors secrets that she is too terrified to reveal. After Nikolai confesses his unique ability, she is caught between wanting to believe him and fearing he’ll eventually unearth her own dark past. When the unthinkable happens, Fiona’s plans come crashing down, and Nikolai discovers his hated ability might be the only thing that can save the woman he loves.

Sugar & Gold is a new adult romance with shades of the paranormal and is the second book in the Dreamcatcher novels, a series of interconnected STANDALONES.

Sugar & Gold Excerpt:

She breathed a genuine laugh and held my gaze. Everything about her was pink; her drink, her hair, the bright halo of glimmering dust that surrounded her.

Kindness, compassion, charity. Those were the feelings I associated with pink.

I hadn’t seen it this strong in anyone in a long time.

Fiona clinked her glass to my bottle. “Thanks for taking care of my over-eager dance partner, Nik. And for the drink.”

“Sure.”

She sipped her Cosmo. “Not much of a talker, are you?” Her eyes were impossibly bright, her smile showing a broad mouth and full lips.

“Club’s not a great place for talk,” I said.

“True,” she said, “but here we are.”

Here we are…

A short silence fell.

“Nik,” Fiona mused. “Nik, Nik,” she said again, in a light, sing-song manner. “Short for Nicholas?”

“Nikolai,” I said.

“Oh, I like that.” Her colors warmed and sweetened, like an invitation, drawing me closer. “Are you Russian? You don’t have an accent.”

“My mother is.”

“Do you speak it?”

“Yeah,” I said. “I picked some up.”

She scooted closer on her seat. “Say something in Russian.”

“Like what?”

“I’m not picky. I can’t speak a word so anything is going to sound good.”

I thought for a second and then spoke aloud the only thought I had in my head.

“Ti samaya krasivaya devushka na svete.”

Fiona’s smile widened and the bright wisps of her happiness wrapped around me. I wanted to take in more of it. Which made no sense at all. With other women, their scents were so often cloying and unwanted like the air wasn’t mine to breathe.

What the fuck is wrong with you? Get a grip.

I sucked down a long swig of beer. Fiona watched me, her eyebrows raised, then she laughed. “Um, Nik? You realize you’re supposed to tell me what you said, right?”

I shrugged and my lips twitched. “Don’t remember.”

Fiona laughed again. “Liar.”

We both took a sip from our drinks and let a little silence fall between us. A nice silence.

“That was lovely, your Russian,” Fiona said eventually. “Whatever you said, it sounded…sexy.”

My gaze swung to her eyes. “Yeah?”

She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. “Yeah. I was going to say something harmless like ‘unique’ or ‘exotic’, but I’d rather be honest with you, Nikolai. I don’t like playing games.” Her brow furrowed slightly. “I don’t like it at all.”

I sensed a shadow starting to creep over her. Something old and full of pain. Driving it away suddenly became my only goddamn purpose in life.

“I guess you’re not going to like me much then,” I said. “I play games constantly. Every day.”

A smile crept over her lips. “Is that so?”

“Sure,” I said. “Omaha, Texas Hold’em, stud, draw, lowball, high-low split…”

She laughed, flaring pink again, and the shadow around her retreated. “A joke and a smile too. I was beginning to wonder if you ever smiled.”

I shrugged. “It happens.”

“And those games, they’re all poker, right? You play poker every day?”

“Not every day. Most days.”

“For a living?”

“No, I’m a…” I coughed. “I’m a salesman. Motorcycle parts. I travel a lot for the job, and finding poker games in each city is sort of my hobby.”

My standard lie, though I hated laying it on her. I knew plenty of grinders who lived off their poker winnings, but that was for the love of the game. I played because thanks to the ken it was easy to win, and I’d never cared that it was cheating. It was the only way to put my strange ability to use that I knew of, and it allowed me to give a big fuck you to the universe for cursing me with it in the first place.

But lying to Fiona felt dirty. Even when haunted by bad memories she was luminous, while I was tatted and stained, as if the ink on my hands would bleed out and onto the white of her dress if I touched her.

She cocked her head at me, wearing a perplexed little smile. “You don’t look like a salesman.” Her eyes drifted over my tattooed arms and neck, to the talons piercing my ears. “When I think of ‘traveling salesman’ I picture a middle-aged guy in a suit with a suitcase full of encyclopedias.”

“No suitcase,” I said. “Catalogues and order forms.”

“And you travel a lot?”

“Almost non-stop.”

“That sounds lonely.”

“You do something long enough, you get used to it.”

“I know what you mean,” Fiona said, a tinge of darkness around her words—that shadow started to creep back until she buried it. “But the poker makes it fun?”

“Breaks up the monotony of the road.”

“Do you make a lot of money?” she said, then laughed, beautiful in her self-consciousness. “Sorry, I’m not asking for your bank balance, I just meant, are you any good at it?”

“I’m really fucking good at it,” I said.

Her eyebrows shot up and she nudged my arm with a laugh. “If you don’t say so yourself.”

“Maybe I feel like being honest with you too.” I could feel where she touched me, a tingling heat that was slow to fade.

“I like that.” She swirled her cherry around in her drink by its stem. “So are you in town, selling motorcycle parts, for very long?”

“Couple of days.”

“I hope the storm doesn’t put a damper on your business.”

“It won’t.”

“You’re lucky. At my job, we’ve been given the next few days off.”

“You sound bummed about that.”

“Every penny counts.” She met my eye. “I’m moving out of the country very soon and want to save up.”

I took a sip of my beer. I’d known Fiona for five minutes, but the idea of her moving any further away than her seat at the bar filled me with inexplicable dread.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

But it wasn’t what was wrong with me, anymore. It was what was right. The girl exuded a calm that danced along my skin, and when I inhaled, it was like breathing in the scent of something delicious but far away. The thrumming life all around me grew quiet. For the first time, I felt close to peace, and I wanted more.

If I touched her…

“Nikolai?” Her blush matched the color of her drink. She rested her chin in her hand. “Not to sound cheesy but you’re undressing me with your eyes.”

I felt heat creep along my neck and a bumbling apology rose to my mouth. Instead, I held her gaze, leaned closer to her. “You want to know what I said to you in Russian?”

Her eyes were bright and I could feel her draw closer to me. “Yes. Tell me.”

“I said that you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”

The deep pink of her darkened to red. Not the ugly red of hate or anger, but the heated red of intense want. Hers matched mine. I wanted that strange sense of peace she exuded, but I wanted to touch her too. To take her hard and lose myself in her completely.

Fiona held my gaze. “I don’t think that’s true, but the way you look at me…I can almost believe it. Like how you watched me on the dance floor. I liked you watching me, Nikolai. It was as if I could feel your eyes on me before I found you.”

You found me…

REVIEW – BAD PENNY by Staci Hart

SYNOPSIS

Nothing good comes after the third date.

Date three is the crucial point when things get real, which is exactly why I bounce out the door, twiddling my fingers at whatever poor boy I’ve left behind. Because if I stick around, one of three things will happen: he’ll profess his undying love, he’ll get weird and stalky, or I’ll go crazy. Like, Sid and Nancy crazy. Like, chase-him-through-the-streets-begging-him-to-love-me crazy.

Seriously, it’s better for everyone this way.

So when I meet Bodie, I figure it’ll be the same as it ever was. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t put a single string on me. Doesn’t matter that he’s funny and smart and jacked or that he can play my body like a grand piano. Because even though I’m built for love, love has only carved me up like a Christmas ham.

Resistance is something I can only hang on to for so long, and he has persistence in spades. But my heart isn’t as safe as I want to believe, and neither is his. And the second I ignore my cardinal rule is the second I stand to lose him forever.

5 AWESOME STARS*****

I had never read a Staci Hart book before and now she has a new fan, for life! I can’t even begin to explain the awesomeness that this book is. Tons of laughter, tons of hot sex, tons of crazy best friends shenanigans, just over the top amazing. And now I want more!!!!!

Penny is a tattoo artist who lives life on the fun side. She doesn’t have time for heartache, which is why she always keeps it simple with the guys she meets. If the guy is hot and the sex is great, Penny will give him three dates then move on to the next guy. Uncomplicated fun and everybody wins.

Penny has a great job she loves, amazing best friends who are also her roommates and a beautiful array of men willing to show her a good time, so she’s having the time of her life.

One day she meets a gorgeous guy that after three dates Penny simply can’t give up. This guy is someone from her past who knows exactly why Penny keeps love far away from her.

Bodie is a hot mathematician who develops video games for a living and also loves to surf. Bodie is a fun guy, and he’s been crushing after Penny for a long time and now that he has his chance, he will do anything to show her how great relationships can be. The problem is that bad habits are hard to shake and sometimes love just isn’t enough.

I LOVED THIS BOOK, it has everything I look for in a great read. The writing style was simple yet skilled and the plot and characters were relatable, easy to love and impossible to forget. I love a book with a strong heroine who makes me laugh and isn’t afraid to be herself. I can see myself reading Staci Hart books forever and ever. Make sure to check out her books, because I can tell that they are all full of good times.

*****FOUR STARS*****

This latest installment in the OXFORD series is an ”Enemies-to-Lovers” romance. We met Nick Ballantine and Taylor Carr in the previous book and from their initial encounter, I knew these two were going to have explosive chemistry and I wasn’t disappointed.

Taylor Carr works in the advertising department at Oxford magazine and loves her job. She’s a no-nonsense headstrong woman who has been labeled an ice princess. It’s a term that doesn’t sit well with her. Taylor has a hard time showing any sort of vulnerability and it’s mostly due to the fact that she lost her parents at a very young age and was raised by her aunt, who was never a warm or affectionate person.

Nick Ballantine is a freelance writer for Oxford who also works part-time as a bartender. He’s been offered a permanent position but always turns it down because he likes the freedom of being able to come and go as he pleases. That’s how he feels about relationships as well after having been burned pretty badly by his last girlfriend, but he can’t deny the strong pull he feels towards Taylor.

When Taylor and Nick first meet there is a spark that ignites between them but more often than not, their interactions end up in a heated argument. They could never seem to get their timing right. When Taylor was single, Nick wasn’t and vice versa. It’s not until almost a year later that the two end up being single at the same time and Nick becomes Taylor’s roommate when her Ex abruptly breaks up with her. Things are rocky during the initial weeks of living together but eventually the two settle into an amiable coexistence and the feelings that they have kept buried deep down for each other start to resurface.

As they both give in to their attraction to each other, an unexpected situation and opposing views of what they want in the future threatens to tear the couple apart.

I KNEW YOU WERE TROUBLE is currently available! If you haven’t read the Oxford series it is definitely one I would highly recommend. It is my favorite series by the author.
